Excellent Swedish candy store! I've purchased from this store once in person and once online. I really appreciated how understanding the employees were when I requested that all my candies and licorice be gelatin-free. Plus, everything is free of high fructose corn syrup. This is the only place I know of in Southern California that sells a variety of salty licorice! I'm a fan! read more

Sockerbit - My online order upon arrival. - Candy Stores Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Candy: This is a Swedish candy store that just opened not too long ago. They have diverse flavors of delicious sweets. This store is mainly known for: no high fructose corn syrup, no GMOs (genetically modified organisms), and no trans fat. Their variety of selections were plentiful, from sour to sweet to chocolate and anything you can possibly think of. What I liked about this place was the free samples near the counter. This is a great idea because not many people know how Swedish candy tastes like (especially if the candy does not have high fructose corn syrup). I was a bit hesitant to purchase some candy but after the tasting, I was more confident that I would like most of what they were selling. Parking: Street parking or you can park at the Trader Joe's parking structure and get your ticket validated and pick up some sweets here quickly. Milieu: This place is large and appealing with white walls. I love the inside because it is just so welcoming. read more

Rows of Scandinavian candy and white modern space -- I am an instant fan! I'll be honest... I learned about this spot, through Mindy Kaling's Instagram. I am a sucker for candy shops and was instantly drawn when I saw Sockerbit pop up in her IG feed. Annnd just my luck, it happened to be in my neighborhood! -Candy: $12.99 per pound. All candy is self-served and weighed, so you can purchase as you wish. There is a large candy selection, to accommodate all tastes. I cant remember the names, because it was written in Swedish, but my faves were the yogurt and sour candies. If want to test your sour tolerance, try the red sour candy (shaped like a hammer?) -oh my lawd that will make your face scrunch up! -Service: The owners were really friendly, gracious and overall happy to be in business. He explained the store layout and what makes Sockerbit different from other candy shops. He informed me Scandinavian candy is made with high quality ingredients--no corn syrup, GMO's and etc.. -Décor/Ambience: Wide, clean, spacious with minimal décor. It is the opposite of Dylan's and it totally works for them. They also a sell other Scandinavian goods besides candy. Tips: - Located on 3rd / Fairfax , Next to Carmela's Ice Cream (NOT at the grove). -Street parking or park at Trader Joes (w/ validation) read more

How fun! Delicious candies from Sweden which have only the good stuff. None of this high fructose corn syrup crap and GMOs. But ultimately, if it doesn't taste great, what's the point? Didn't I tell ya it's Delicious? The nice lady (also from Sweden) will hand you a scoop and a bag. It's the absolute opposite of walking your dog. Rather, you get to walk yourself down a beautiful walk of sweets. Try the licorice, for instance. I like Red, but yes, they also have the Black. Wrapped and unwrapped; there are many choices. Totally worth just popping in and snagging some for a movie, a roadtrip, or just because. Pristine interior makes me want to be Swedish, if that's representative of Sweden. So sharp and colorful and peaceful. read more

I've been here twice within the past week. I've heard of this place in NYC and never got a chance to check it out when I was there, so when I heard there was a location here, I knew I had to go. The first time I was there, I was overwhelmed with the selection of candy they had. I bought about $6 worth of candy and finished it that day. The store is very minimal and very clean. The employees are friendly and smile at you. The candy tastes so much better than the artificially made stuff sold everywhere else. I especially like the cola flavored candies. The concept is simple: grab a bag and scooper and pick what you want. You weigh and pay at the end and then enjoy! Metered street parking available. Across the street from the Grove and right next door to Carmela's ice cream. read more

This candy store was very cute. It was fun looking at all of the various imported candies. The employee gave me recommendations for a great chocolate and sugary candy. I loved the hot lips! I had to exercise a lot of self control because the candy is $12.99 per pound! That is pricey! read more

Sockerbit - Candy Stores Near Me - Los Angeles, California

A shop centered around unique, foreign candies and good quality chocolate in bulk bins? I was hooked! Store design: On the edge of The Grove, not in the actual shopping center, you have to venture across the street for a sweet little treat. The shop has a very clean, white look. While there are a few pre-packaged candies, the shop is centered around the bulk bins. Accessing the candy bins is not for the undedicated. The cover to the candy bins has an odd sliding door. But, nothing will keep my from my candy. The candies were named in Swedish and then also named and described in English. However, if you're feeling adventurous, you can take a gamble on some fun candies and let your taste buds do the talking. One tasted good, and the others did not. You win some, you lose some! Selection: Honestly, half the selection I can't even describe. The perils and wonders of foreign candy. - So much licorice. Beware of the salty licorice. I spit it out because the "surprise" was extra salt. - Fudge. Multiple flavors and nice little squares so you can taste them all. - Gummies, gummies, in my tummy. So many gummies - Chocolate. The quality is superb. The second the chocolate hits your tongue, you know it isn't the cheap stuff. Price: Speaking of cheap stuff, Sockerbit is not. I ended up spending more than $2 for some samplings. Sockerbit? The name may inspire some questions, however, there is no question about the candy's high quality. read more

Recently moved to LA so I've only been here since Covid. Their candy is great! I try new candy every time I order. It's super easy to order online and pickup same day (sometimes within the same hour). Would definitely recommend checking them out! read more

I frequent visit Pop Physique and if i'm in the area, I really just cant but help and stop by Sockerbits for their delicious sour tummies! OMG they are to die for (IMO). Personally, i'm a sour gummy kinda girl and something about their sour skull shaped gummies just really hit the spot for me. The texture is a bit different than what we're used to, probably a bit harder and doesn't dissolve as quickly. Also, the candies aren't as sweet, which i like. Considering that their items are made with all natural ingredients, I feel a little less guilty indulging once in a while. At $13lb your tally can quickly add up, so use some self control, and do your best to restrain yourself from buying the entire store. Another great thing is that they have an awesome collection of imported swedish candy. If you're into licorice . they have TONS of items that are licorice flavored. Not my cup of tea, but hey, you might like it. Did i mention that they have gummies in the most adorable shapes? YUP.. i'll definitely return :) read more

I stumbled on this paradise of Scandinavian treats when wandering around West Hollywood. This place is awesome! Ever since Ikea stopped stocking genuine Swedish treats and replaced them with Ikea branded items, I've been looking for a hookup. This place is it! I easily ate over a pound of various gummy, chocolate, marshmallow, licorice, and peppermint treats. Scandinavia rivals Japan in candy snacking technology--and this is the best place to experience it for yourself. (Other than actually going to Scandinavia, that is) read more

Atmosphere: Super clean and white! Very spacious! Has adorable decorations and cute souvenirs! Staff: Great! Very friendly and helpful! Goods: So amazing! Interesting items especially baking goods that you will not see in world market! I wanted to buy so much here! The smoked salt is so interesting I had to get some. I haven't used it on anything yet but I tried it by itself and it seems like a great seasoning! Price: very pricey so beware. Don't buy too much! Candy: Sooo addicting! It's very different but it's super delicious! Very cute! Love the textures, flavors, and shapes! They have a super long snake candy which was the best! Their sour options were very interesting and different but spectacularly delicious! They have samples!!! read more

they have this candy right up front under the name "super salt licorice" something along those lines it's individually packaged in a black skinny package with a hockey puck and it contains ammonium chloride which is extremely toxic to humans I made the mistake of trying it out I only had the tiniest of a bite and immediately my vision was impaired I couldn't catch my breath or even walk I drank tons of water and honestly thought I was having a panic attack. That was not the case. After I started feeling slightly better I look at candy ingredients which was the last thing I ate and surly it says "ammonium chloride" after a quick google search I find that this ingredient isn't allowed to be sold in the us because it's known to cause asthma like symptoms. I tried calling the store to let them know but they don't answer I tried calling 9 times. but please becareful with any "salty" candy from Sweden or Germany as they use ammonium chloride in all their salty candys. :( read more

Sockerbit is absolutely the cutest. If this place were a person I would pinch its adorable little cheeks! The concept is sweet and simple: Scandinavian candies sold by weight. Because the confections aren't manufactured in the US they're also free of all the crap we normally put in our food--no corn syrup or GMOs to be found! The candies are absolutely delicious, and most of the bins have descriptive labels that tell you what you're looking at. Any additional questions I had were happily answered by the gal working at the shop, who was super friendly (and explained how everything worked when I first arrived). I loved that all the items in the store had the same per weight price, allowing me to pick and choose at my leisure without having to keep track of any mental math. There was quite a bit of variety in the candy as well. I tended to stick with the more chocolate-based treats, but Sockerbit also had tons of different kinds of licorice and gummies on display. Something for everyone, to be sure! All in all I walked out of the store with about eight pieces of candy for under $3! Quite the steal! I'll definitely be visiting Sockerbit again (and again and again). read more

Such a fun store! The concept is super simple: sour candies sold by weight. I tried a bunch of different ones and really enjoyed most of them. Great variety and the staff is super friendly as well. The candies are sour, but not overly so. I also like that they don't have corn syrup or GMOs in them. read more

Awesome candy store! I love that everything is made with high quality ingredients. Non-GMO ingredients and made with no high fructose corn syrup. You can taste the quality in these candies. There is a huge selection to choose from. From gummies to a lot of sour candy, to chocolates, marshmallows etc. It's not the cheapest place to buy candy of course ($13 a pound), but for it's quality, I think it's definitely worth it. If you have even a passing interest in anything Swedish, candy-related, or just tasty - you must pay a visit to Sockerbit. The selection of candies is astounding. You can create your own bag of mixed confections and pay by weight. The ingredients in the candies are healthier - missing a lot of the "-oses" found in American sweets - but whether you're on a diet or not, you'll still find something tasty. Swedish candy isn't just about sweet or sour; there are different licorices and flavor palates to indulge, such as salty candy. (Life-changing, seriously.) Swedish candy also comes in all kinds of fun shapes and designs, so you'll have fun snacking on your purchase for days...or if you're like me, you've gobbled up most of it instantaneously after paying. I went to Stockholm about a year ago, and there's a Scandinavian hole in my heart. Sockerbit fills it, not just with the treats they offer - but the store has a modest selection of other Swedish things, and a warm, helpful staff. It's more than just Swedish fish, y'all. read more

I liked that it's no GMO, no transfat and no fructose. It's $12.99/lb (compared to $6.99/lb at Dylan's candy store in The Grove). I particularly liked the sour candies. My friend enjoyed sour and the marshmellows. read more

Great little gem just south west of the Farmer's Market. A clean store set up like the Sweet Factory - grab a bag and mix & match candy which get charged by weight. Not the cheapest candy around, but hard to find items sure to excite any candy lover. A great selection of Cola flavored gummies both sweet & sour, yum! Also a small selection of Scandinavian gifts and other food items as well as little "taste of candy" bags pre-packed with a selection of sweets. Stopped in here today after grocery shopping at TJ's. I've loved Swedish candy since I was a kid and this place is the jam. If you have a serious sugar addiction like I do you will appreciate this place. Candy made without any artificial colors and corn syrup is soooo much better. How could any self respecting adult, who ever had a childhood, and who lived by the Toys-R-Us slogan "I don't wanna grow up," rate this place anything less than 5 stars? Candy - all delicious, all natural, with Swedish names as fun to pronounce as the candy is to eat, and no adult around to limit how much you buy. It's too expensive for me for a regular thing - as my dentist gives a big sigh of relief - but an excellent treat for yourself whenever you need it. read more

I've now been here at least 5 times, their selection is always huge, consistent and changing at once. I still haven't tried half the stuff there, and I usually get ~1/2 lb per visit. The first time I went in I was the only one inside and I got the whole shpiel about how all the ingredients in all the items are natural and organic and healthy and everything comes from Europe direct and there's no corn syrup or artificial flavoring etc etc and how they have a store in NYC open longer that's been successful so now here they are in LA. So upon further review: still a must go place read more

My husband loves visiting Sockerbit every time we're in the neighborhood. Though these candies may not be for everyone, we have been hugely impressed with Aaron's customer service and attentiveness every time we have visited. Aaron is very knowledgable on Sockerbit's candies, their new arrivals, and takes the time to give you samples while describing which flavor notes each piece has. If you tell him something you like, he makes recommendations for new things you should try. It's like a customized chocolate tasting every time we are there. Make sure you ask Aaron what new arrivals you should sample when you visit Sockerbit! read more

The best chocolate I have ever tasted in my life by a big margin. Believe me when I tell you nothing compares. It makes all other chocolate taste like a joke. In addition, they don't over charge, it's much more affordable than all the other "luxury" brands that don't even taste half as good. This place is a true gem. read more

This place is seriously amazing! It's different than any other candy store! First of all the flavors are incredible!!! They don't taste fake. The fruit flavors taste like the actual fruits! The licorice candies are sooooo good! Especially the red/black blended disc. Holy cow! And all the cola flavors are so good!! I can't say enough good about this. It's not just another candy store! Also the service is so friendly and not snobby UNLIKE some place cough(sugarfina)cough. Also you can pick your own candies because it's by the pound and it's totally reasonably price!! I will be back. A lot! read more

I ate $7ish worth of this candy (a little over a 1/2 pound) in two days, and, if I'm being completely honest, really within 24 hours of the purchase. While I scoffed at the price tag of $12.99/lb for these odd sounding Swedish candies, I am now ashamed of myself for not giving those flawless looking Scandinavians the benefit of the doubt in the sweets department. Definitely a step up from the stale options at those predictable American bulk candy stores, and no high fructose corn syrup or GMOs, to boot! My favorites: -sour skulls - they result in instant pucker face -chocolate caramel things that look like Rolos but are their cooler, more sophisticated European cousin -chocolate discs with the hard shell exterior -caramel licorice - surprisingly delicious! -blueberry/raspberry little jelly bean-like numbers -the texture of the sour/sweet gelatin ones (I prefer a rougher chew than the gummy texture) read more

I'm not really a sweets person, but I make an exception when it comes to Socketbit! What I love about these candies is that they're made with natural flavors and colors resulting in a toned-down candy experience. I recently stopped in to get these delicious little watermelon candies, but they didn't have them because the bulk selection changes. They always have a good selection of wrapped candies, but my favorite thing to get here is the salted licorice. (Try them if you dare!) The licorice ranges from salted tablets to black chewy things that usually make up the bulk of my purchase. Like I said, I'm not a sweets person ;) read more

Whoever loves candy, sweets and chocolates MUST come to this place. There is so much variety of candy and sweets that you won't even know where to start when filling up your plastic bag! The candy is great.... and really expensive. I came here to buy some candy for my students because their candy is gmo free, most is not wrapped in a lot of plastic, it is made with real sugar, and this is a local shop, even if their product is not. When I asked about a possible discount - I am a second year public school teacher - I was told they only give discounts to corporations buying in bulk. Corporations can afford to pay $12.99 a pound. While I am willing to spend the money for a quality product from a local shop, their choice to give international corporations discounts over local public schools left a bad taste in my mouth. They will never see another cent from me, and they lost all the potential customers they could have made out of my students; my students will know not to spend any money here because this is not a store that supports them or their local community. read more

Walked by this cute shop on the way to Carmela's ice cream and it totally caught my eye so I had to go inside. The staff were super nice and informative!!! I was lovin' it up until I tried the candy...... Okay. Honestly, it looks way better than it taste. I will save the sour gummy candies were just ok.... I prefer just sour patch watermelons over the one they have. And the sour strawberry gummy was so sour that I almost cried (ok I'm exaggerating a little bit... But ya know what I mean) but I would have to say the chocolate w/ the hazelnut was really good. It was packaged in a pretty pink wrapping. It's just way too expensive for just OK candy... But the staff were seriously so nice I will give them a 3.5!!! It was a good experience but I don't think I would go out of the way to get Swedish candy... I rather go to ikea or something. Lol... read more

Zero if I could. I was here on dec 20 with some friends who didn't know the store and I wanted to introduce them to Swedish candy. I was the first in a Group of four to walk in. The sales guy walked past me and greeted my friends. Then came to the friend I was closest to pushed in between us as if I was not there to give her a scoop. In fact I had to take a step back to keep from being jostled. He didn't ask me if I wanted a scoop, help or anything . Check your camera footage and see. In my opinion this was racist and infuriating. Not in an aggressive way. In that subtle way that says "you are not important to us." I'm not invisible. Why not greet me? Offer to help? Give me a scooper? But instead I was ignored and nearly pushed out of the way. And I'm the one who paid! My friends noticed this and were speechless . I complained to the other worker and she was thankfully apologetic. I was a regular customer. I will never go here again and will tell anyone I can on 3rd street about my experience . #boycottsockerbit read more

This is a delicious Swedish candy store that recently opened up on the south side of 3rd, just a few businesses west of Fairfax. Parking around here is mostly on the street, although you can certainly visit here easily from the Grove or the Farmer's Market. The candy selection is huge. On my first visit, the owner himself asked what I like, and then proceeded to pick out some favorites. I told him I liked sour candy, and man does this stuff deliver. I had sour octopuses, sour alien heads, sour coke bottles, and all kinds of other sour things I couldn't identify. The pricing is fair and the candy is so delicious you'll devour it before you even get home. They also give free samples near the front counter. I highly recommend checking this place out. This is gourmet bin candy and just talking about it makes me want some more. read more

What a great idea! I stopped in and got some lakrits (licorice) candies and chatted a bit with the very gracious and helpful owners. Apparently there is a New York store which does well and we are glad to have Sockerbit here in LA. Oh, and thanks to them for being conveniently located on 3rd Street with easy parking, instead of having to maneuver the mess called 'The Grove'. As you can see by the pix and other reviews here, it's a simple concept of just self-serve for whichever candies you like. All are priced the same so you don't need to use separate bags (unless you want to). Also, they sell other Swedish delicacies such as Kalles Kaviar (a spreadable caviar paste, usually for crispbreads), cheeses, O'Boy (chocolate milk mix), Leksandsbröd and much more. Ikea no longer carries these authentic brand names, so if you want to the original and authentic, come to Sockerbit. A great, big Tack Så Mycket for being in LA. read more

I love the concept of this candy shop: Scandinavian candy made without GMOs or corn syrup. They carry so many different types of candy from sweet to sour and fruity to chocolate. Some of my favorites are the vanilla berry gummies and the marzipan drenched in chocolate. Some of the candy that I tried was not as good, so it's a little inconsistent. The bulk candy is priced at about $12 per pound and they take credit cards. I love their late weekend hours! It's definitely worth a visit when you're in the area! read more
