While on the resort though, I did like how the lodging looked. If I were to go back I definitely would instead just go ahead and stay on the mountain resort because driving through the woods / mountain to get to and from the resort to the air bnb was not fun at all; especially at night! Snow tubing: we went snow tubing during the night time. There weren't too many other people there during this time, so the line to keep tubing over and over wasn't much of a wait at all. I give the experience a 10/10 overall. It was fun and different. Snowboarding: when we first got into all our gear and equipment, we were just told to go outside. We were all under the impression that we would receive a tutorial or instructional presentation about first time snowboarding, but that did NOT happen. Had entirely no clue there was even a "practice" area until after I slipped and fell on the ice and my snowboard went flying down the mountain and into the woods. I went and got help from the emergency team who then informed us that there was a practice area to go to first. I ended up staying in that practice area the whole time and completely wasted my money on having a ski lift ticket. I thought a practice area would've been at the bottom of the mountain where we'd start at, so the ski lift ticket would be needed once you're comfortable and can go ski/snowboard from the very top but no, u start at (like get on the actual slope at) and the practice area are both mid - mountain. Overall the experience was a 7/10. It's possible I'll give Snowshoe another try in the future now that I've experienced what it's like. My overall rate of experience : 7/10

It is definitely an amazing place to take your family. The green and blue slopes are within a short walk and so is the village. You can ski into the back door a short distance. You have plenty of hooks to hang your ski gear and shelves to store snowboards and skiis. The beds are very comfortable and there owners provide games and a dvd's to watch to relax after a day on the slopes. It is a beautiful set up and amazing place to stay. I highly recommend this place. There is a porch to hang out on and two bathrooms, one for the master and one for the other two bedrooms to use. The master bathroom has a jetted tub and the other bathroom has a very nice walk in shower. This is truly an amazing place to stay and well worth the money! My kids scouted just about every trail on the Mountain and kept coming back to Shays Revenge and Cupp Run as their favorites. Both runs start right out the back door from Hutch 8. We could watch the kids arrive on the lift and then either start their run or come in the back door for some hot chocolate. The owner Jeff is very involved and helpful and answered every question from my original inquiry to trip end. The property has everything you would need from a fully equipped Mud Room with ski racks, boot dryers etc. The kitchen has everything you would need to feed your crew and was the cleanest of any property I have rented. Big screen TV, DVD player and a library of DVD's and books to read. Centrally located, we parked on day one and walked to the main Resort Village for shops and restaurants. My grandson had an equipment malfunction on day one with a broken boot. Drove down the Mountain to the Ski Barn which was recommended by Jeff. New boot selected, fitted and binding adjustment and back on the slopes in less than 45 minutes. This is the only time we drove our car in five days. If you want ski on ski off, this is the best location on the mountain.

Each Individual unit is owned and decorated by its owner. So some are going to be more updated than others. We stayed in 5313 and had a fabulous time. This is not an upscale resort. But it is very homey. If you are a long time silver creek lover, you will love that everything has stayed the same. Why the resort gets 3 stars. We were looking for a smaller place for a first time skier that wouldn't need many harder trails. We booked everything for the weekend online. The process was easy and made it easy and quick to get tickets and rentals that we already paid for. I think they do charge an additional fee if you didn't prepay. The first night we arrived we did the snow tubing. It was a fun time. You need to get a tube at the bottom of the hill. Then there is a belt you stand on that will bring you to the top. You pay for and hour and a half that seems like a long time but it went quick because it was fun. We did a snowboarding lesson in the am and then spent some time skiing. We rented a board and changed to skis and it was a $15 fee to change. There is a cafeteria type area to eat. I did read another review that said people just dump their bags in chairs to save them. So that is what we did. We saved half a table for us then shared the other half. When lunch time came the tables filled up fast. Most kids would just sit in the floor if they needed. For a small mountain it was a great time. They had everything you need. We stayed at Chalet resort that was a 3 minute drive.

The only reason for the 4/5 is the resort allows hikers to take the ski lift which slows down the lift. Also, we rented bikes and safety gear. The Trek model bike rental was amazing. We were able to try a Trek Session and Trek Slash, both were fairly new models and in well condition. However, the Session had some excessive wearing on the tire outer tread, appeared cracked. We were so focused on having fun that we didn't bring it back to address that. I will say the more shocking thing was the safety gear which seemed extremely worn. Granted we got there late the only upper chest gear they had was shredded (arm sleeves had so many holes it looked the last person had a bear attack in it :-D ). Nonetheless, we had a lot of fun.

It is…read moreone building with about 100 one-bedroom units, and although the building went up in the early '80s, the units - all independently and individually owned - have undergone recent renovations. The building itself was renovated in 2007 and it cheered up its facade, added new siding and paint, and an overall face lift. As a result, it is hard to rate the individual units as a whole. Some are absolutely impeccable, yet some are 1980 originals with the old cheap paneling. The thing about the units. First, one enters through a central hallway, and the main bedroom's windows do not face the outside, but face the inner hallway. Down a corridor, the unit opens up into a great room/dining/kitchen that in almost all cases, features a sofa bed. Some of the units have opened up the kitchen to create a real great room with modernized appliances. The great room has two windows to either the East, facing the Widowmaker slope, or the Western views that are spectacular. The location of Top of the World is amazing. It has the new Soaring Eagle high-speed quad literally outside the Eastern wall, so it's a great place to call home for a ski vacation. Top of the World is one of the check-in venues at Snowshoe, and it also provides a fully-stocked ski shop and a restaurant bar, which frequently changes names, given the high mortality rates of dining establishments at ski resorts. Another great thing about Top of the World is its location next to the new Soaring Eagle Lodge, which features Ember restaurant, the top restaurant within a 200-mile radius. If you have a small family or a small group, it is a relatively inexpensive, good and VERY centrally located place to stay.

Horrible paneling, hideous green carpet, no remote for the LR tv, no paper towels just ONE old linen napkin. Good thing nobody was staying with me. The shower/tub was a little springy and I was afraid that if i stayed in too long I may end up in the ski shop downstairs. I enjoyed the paper thin walls so I could hear the condo next door being renovated. The "fully" stocked kitchen had no glasses bigger than a juice glass. Everything else in the place was very random, like it had been decorated from the Salvation Army. There was a decent bar downstairs and being located right on the slopes were about the only positives for this place. Oh did I mention with tax and other fees I paid $200 for ONE night. Anywhere else this would be a $35 room full of truckers and hookers. Not that I would know anything about those places. Snowshoe Mtn is a great place to ski, just avoid Top of the World condos.

Parking was free, easy and convenient; I was a short walk to the lodge and the main lift. Picking up the lift ticket I had purchased online was also easy, there was a kiosk that issued the electronic card that worked from my coat pocket. Buying online and as a senior the one day lift ticket was a very reasonable $65. The mountain itself is easy to navigate; there is one main lift, a high speed detachable 6 pack that runs up the center of the mountain with all of the runs coming off of the lift. The lift has scanners that read the lift ticket and there are 2 sets of gates; this did seem to confuse some of the people in the lift line; I did see quite a bit of difficulty with people getting on and off the lift. The runs off the top of the mountain are a nice mix, 2 double blacks, 2 blacks, 3 blues and a long beginner green run. All of the runs give you 1000 feet of vertical; more then enough to give you a nice run, and plenty of challenge. Everything except for 1 double black run was groomed with good snow coverage. The runs have a nice variety, more than enough to make for a fun and invigorating day of skiing for intermediate and advanced skiers. A couple of notes, the bathrooms are conveniently located in the lodge without having to go to another level from the back of the lodge. If coming down the skiers right of the mountain you want to keep up some speed to make it all the way to the lift. Having 1 lift that is the only way to most of the mountain means that when there are issues with the lift stopped the lift line can get a bit longer then desired, but they managed to keep things moving for most of the day. Timberline is a very nice affordable option to ski or board in WV. Very nice for a day or two, although there is probably not much challenge for expert skiers. The 1000 feet of vertical and high speed lift make the mountain ski like a larger resort. Easy to navigate and affordable it is well worth considering for part of your ski trip in the area.

The general store was a true gem. Top notch deli, and a wide selection of general goods and craft beers. My wife and I enjoyed the spa as well, they were very professional and attentive. The overall mountain atmosphere was breathtaking, giant old oaks, tons of trails ect. The negative: we really wanted to like this resort, to leave a positive review, but our expectations were shattered to pieces. First off, the main restaurant, the edge, was without air conditioning our entire stay, Thursday through Sunday. We only ended up using one of our breakfast vouchers, due to the hot muggy restaurant. Attempted to eat dinner in there Friday night, but was overpacked, severely understaffed, and just a hot uncomfortable, muggy sweat pool. Walked over to the upper crust, and found that they had a severely reduced menu for the Fourth of July weekend . We decided to drive to one of their other restaurants, all the way back down the mountain, Iron and ale, just to find the exact same situation no air conditioning, over packed, and understaffed. We turned around and left after another couple walked out after seeing flies all over the tables. The rude host was wearing a polo shirt, board shorts, and crocs with long socks.... Not exactly the attire you would expect from a casual fine dining joint. We ended up eating dinner at a little Mexican restaurant in Nelly's ford, was a very nice dinner, attentive waitstaff, overall delicious meal plus air-conditioning lol. We had hoped that the Fourth of July celebrations on Saturday would get rid of the bad taste We had so far. We were looking forward to this for an entire year. We researched and found very positive reviews of the Fourth of July celebrations of this resort. We figured it would be a magnificent event for USA 250th. There was absolutely zero effort, almost nonexistent patriotism. They had one American flag hung out from a firetruck at the main entrance. That was all. No clown decked out in Fourth of July attire, wrapping red, white and blue balloons for the kids, no face painting, no Rockwall, no moon bounce, no mechanical bull, no cotton candy, nothing for the kids. We don't even have kids, and felt so bad for the families. There was all of maybe 10 arts and crafts vendors, a slushy truck, and a kettle corn truck. That was it no funnel cakes, no rope sausages and peppers, no cheese steaks, no deep-fried Oreos no blooming onions. None of it.. they had a grill station with premade food, limited options, basically burgers, dogs, and chicken tenders. Out of all the bands that came on, no patriotic songs were played the entire day. All they did was play cover music. No Pledge of Allegiance, no American flag decor, literally zero effort for the 250th celebration.. after all this we figured maybe the fireworks would redeem our trip, this is what we were looking forward to the entire year, as we have not seen a really good professional show in years . This was honestly the biggest blow of all. The fireworks lasted all of 10 minutes, and no finale. we have put on better shows in our backyard with mortars and cakes from West Virginia and Pennsylvania. They literally had an orchestra there playing from 630 to 8 in a covered ticketed entry tent. Why was there not a marching band out playing during the fireworks with red white and blue sparkles going everywhere and a grand firework show for the 250th? The orchestra was already there.. we got a place early on the hillside and sat in the rain for three hours waiting for a 10 minute show. The rain stopped well before the fireworks, and if anything just wet everything down to make it safer to set fireworks off that night. What a disappointment of a show. The event coordinator here is obviously a very unpatriotic person who probably hates America. We will never return to this establishment, as I felt, the entire experience was a slap in the face for the money we spent, the anticipation we had built all year, and a disgrace to America's 250th.

Our tour group was told we could not sit by the windows and enjoy the view because we were "with a tour and not paying customers." Considering many of us paid nearly $2,000 for this trip, that was insulting. We were also not allowed to order from the regular menu and pay ourselves if we wanted something else. Unfortunately, the meal provided left me sick for going on 2 days. The resort itself also had several maintenance and convenience issues. The ice machine on our floor was broken, the snack machine and soda machine was nearly empty, and the shower had VERY poor water pressure. The gift shop closed before 7 p.m., making it impossible to purchase basic necessities when needed. There was also very little to do in the evenings. The pool closes at 8 p.m., and by 7 p.m. most activities and amenities seemed to be shut down, leaving guests with few options other than returning to their rooms to watch TV. Overall, the resort did not meet my expectations, particularly regarding accessibility, guest experience, and customer service.

The lodge area for the tube park is very small, so don't expect to be able to change clothing quickly inside due to how busy it is. There's a fire place inside and a huge fire pit outside. Very small concession inside with about 8-10 small snack items to choose from. The staff here are top notch - very kind to each other and talkative to visitors. 10 minutes before the session starts, the group gets a safety briefing and reviews the rules. Extra safety precautions are taken onsite for young kids.
