For an east coast mountain, this place is awesome! The slopes are well groomed, wide, and super fun to ride down. The 2-4 person lifts are definitely on the older side, but they work just fine and get the job done. There are various spots to grab food and drinks throughout the slopes without having to go back to the pavilion, which is super convenient! The parking is a bit of a mess, but I fully expected this on a Saturday with nice weather, so it is what it is! The staff is efficient (somewhat crass but... I get it because they're working with the public) and they all know what they're doing. This was my first trip here and I will absolutely be back! I was very pleasantly surprised overall. read more

There's a lot I love about Wintergreen, I'll try to name a few: 1) The resort has a great set up with a beautiful view. Great spot for events or just dining and looking out at the mountain. 2) Camp Wintergreen - the summer camp for kids - is fantastic. They have thoughtful, fun programming and exceptional staff / counselors. They have such good energy and kids have a blast doing all kinds of fun things. 3) Great customer service throughout the resort - the restaurants, front desk, camp counselors, the shops. 4) Tennis, Pickleball and Golf are great. I mostly play pickleball - they have eight really nice outdoor courts plus you can also play indoors. Fun pickleball tournaments on holiday weekends. 5) Great nearby hikes and recreational outings. We spent xmas 2023 at Wintergreen. The house I stayed in was close enough to walk to the pool & spa. The views were spectacular. We didn't experience crowds. If you are visiting the resort, research, research research. I learned that everyone locks their cars due to the bears. The bears will actually try opening doors to steal food. You can't leave anything in your car, except drinks. The bear proof trash area is in front of the spa driveway. Guests can dump trash bags & ash. The dumpster has a special lock. Skiing: The packages vary, if you are not a member. There was a four pack special for $349. Guests also have to purchase lift tickets. Tubing (weekends & holiday $44) is less expensive. It would be great if snow boarding had a separate slope or line. The Treehouse area is for kids. If you have your own equipment, bring it. Sometimes the resort runs out of ski items. Dining: There are only a handful of restaurants located in Wintergreen. You will pay resort prices. The Edge restaurant overlooks one of the slopes. The menu includes sandwiches and limited vegetarian items. The location is convenient. Fire & Frost is nearby. Devil's Grill is a member's only restaurant by the golf course (all guests checking in are temporary "members"). The best part of the menu is the buffett. I would pay more to dine within the resort, especially at night. Upper Crust Pizza delivers. We cooked most of our meals. Waynesboro, VA is approximately 30 min. away. There are lots of restaurants & fast food places. Walmart, Aldi, Ollies, Target & Dollar Tree are in clustered near each other. The area breweries are worth checking out. The Spa: The spa is connected to the pool & gym. The employees will happily let you flip through the book of treatments available (most are pricey). The outdoor pool is seasonal. The jacuzzis (inside & outside) were open, even on xmas day. The lockers are free. Guests get one towel. We brought beach towels. The gym is awesome. We used the treadmills while enjoying the view. Netflix & Youtube is also available to purchase while working out. The variety of equipment is nice. Four of us selected different activities, including using the yoga room. The resort also has pickleball, tennis courts, golfing and a lake. The sales office staff were so nice. The views are spectacular. The Blue Ridge mountains make a perfect backdrop for photos. It is easy to get lost at Wintergreen. We outlined our journey and paid attention to landmarks. Even with preparation, we still got turned around and found a closed road. It is easier to arrive during the day. Some of the hairpin turns are a bit much. Suggestions: Bring every item that you might need (snacks, toiletries, gatorade, first aid kit, batteries, water shoes) to avoid driving 30 minutes to town. Watch a sunrise. We did not stay at this resort...buy we stayed near by in Waynesboro. Driving up the mountain was quite the experience. If you miss a turn you will be all off track. We decided to go tubing, which is something new for me I love tropical vacations in the winter. When we purchased the tickets it said to arrive an hour early and I understand why. This place is pretty spread out and confusing, so you need a good 45 minutes to find your way around. Once we got it figured out we found that the tubing lot had its own parking lot! Thank God!! When you pre-purchase tickets you fo it for a specific time slot for an hour. It's up to you to maximize your time. It goes fairly quickly so you can got at least 6 times. You can't find out if you have rentals available until after you buy lift tickets in the past I've bought Lyft tickets and then wasn't able to get skis so I couldn't use them and there were no refunds. Idk who runs this resort but it shows they really don't take pride in it.... First time at a ski "resort" and it lacked character! Honestly, idk if you can really call it a resort. It definitely wasn't what I envisioned overall. Only a couple of food options, staff were not very welcoming, and it's old. Skiing: If you are a novice, please prepare yourself to not have any guidance. We didn't even know how to put on our skis and had to go find someone to help us. Why isn't someone assigned to assisting customers who are NOT skilled?? Also, apparently you have to buy a ski lift ticket even if you won't be going on the lift. Money racket.... THIS IS NOT LISTED ON THE WEBSITE! Tubing: FUN FUN FUN!!! Had a blast! We got in about 6 rounds during the 1hr 15min time slot. Food: Edge SUCKS! But The Market Pizza was the highlight! Really good! We are currently heading home from our 2 night stay at wintergreen mountain inn where we celebrated our anniversary. I'd like to first say that the scheduling/check-in staff were incredible. Tim and Michelle deserve every bonus and raise available. Now to the issue. When we entered our room (room 193) we noticed that the fridge/freezer had leftover contents from the prior reservation. There was also some debris and bottle caps on the floor. We figured it was simply an oversight......until we were checking out. While pulling the sheets from the bed, we found a woman's earring. It became painfully obvious that the sheets had never been changed. I was physically nauseous just thinking about what I had undoubtedly slept in for the past 2 nights. Not only is it unhygienic but there is risk of spreading STI/STD's, fungal infections, viral and bacterial illness and so on. However small that risk might be, it's still a risk, and is just downright disgusting to think I was laying in another persons bodily fluids for 2 nights. The check-in staff did at the very least apologize but that's where the recompense ended. Please, if you choose to stay within the resort lodging, check the cleanliness thoroughly. I wish I would have. We ripped all the sheets, blankets and pillow cases off of the bed and placed them with the used towels to ensure the would be washed got the next tenant. read more

We came here to celebrate my nephews birthday who has taken a liking to snowboarding lately. It's been years since I've visited Wintergreen but this was the perfect getaway with the family. We stayed at the resort (through a VRBO, I think). The weather was perfect during our trip. Mid-March it wasn't too cold and lucky for us the sun was out. They had music playing and a food stand set up that did an excellent job with safety protocols. There were a couple of other restaurants around but I not sure if they were open. I was fine grabbing a hot dog and chips from the stand outside. Expensive as expected, but it was good. They also had a nice selection of beverages, including beers and ciders from the local breweries. It was my first time snowboarding and even though I fell more than snowboarding it was a great experience. I even lost my phone on the slopes and someone was kind enough to drop it off at the front desk. You don't see that happen too often so I was very appreciative of that, and wish I saw who the person was so I couldn't thanked them in person! I was surprised the slopes closed so early at 5pm but I was pretty exhausted after the first hour there anyway! :) read more

Went a few weeks ago and had fun. I took my kids back today late in the season and the conditions were totally unacceptable- they should not be charging people such prices for runs that looked like this. Many of them were closed, the remainder were half covered in snow with dirt remaining. I've skied plenty of black diamonds out west and went down one at wintergreen. With the conditions as poor as they were I went slowly but made it down fine. One of the ski workers came up and told me I couldn't go back down it as it was "for experts only". I've never heard of someone saying you can't ski something as long as you're in control of speed etc. This is my child's only 2nd time skiing and he did the all day ski school this time. He did great but the instructor came up to me multiple times telling me he wasn't fast enough and couldn't do the blue runs. Really disappointed, definitely not work the price and won't be returning. read more

Was a Valentine's Day surprise. I'll preface this review by saying I hate the cold and am not fond of mountains... Getting to the resort was kind stressful as sleet/snow was falling. I will say they did an excellent job of cleaning the roads throughout the resort. Check-in was easy. Masks are required inside. You're given a map and the front desk staff showed us where to go to get our our condo. The signs aren't clear and we got turned around several times. But once we found our place and drove around a few times, it was like we have always lived in the community. We stayed in the Vistas (1587 - would not recommend). I was disappointed once I entered the hallway and saw how dirty the floor was and the stains/spider webs throughout the staircase. Our condo was on the bottom floor and I was worried about what we would see after the lack of appeal in the hallways. Condo was a decent size. 1 bedroom/2 bath. It smelled "old". The floor wasn't thoroughly swept, curtains were dirty, dust buildup on valences and the condo was very outdated. The kitchen was decent. We had all the cooking utensils/pans/pots that we needed. I always carry cleaning supplies when I travel and for busy cleaning the bathrooms, kitchen and living room. For the price we paid for Valentine's Day, I expected so much more. Hair was on our bedding so I used the blankets/sheets that we had. I guess if you have kids and don't really care about a clean place to sleep then it will do. However, in the days of COVID a little more time should've been applied to the cleanliness portion. We went snow tubing. Never wanted to do that, but we had a great time. Everyone was respectful in giving people their space. It was organized and we had a great time. It was worth the stress of waiting online trying to purchase tickets (must purchase the tickets the Sunday prior to the week you want to do the activity). The market was our best friend. I forgot my toothbrush, which they sold for $2.49. Need water? We purchased individual Smart Waters and refilled with the jug of water we had on our car. 24-pack Dasani was $14.99. That's redic and should be against the law! The market has pretty much everything that you may need. The pizza is decent but it is better at Upper Crust in the guest services area. We mostly ate at the Edge Restaurant. Food was decent. For some reason, whenever we picked our food up, it would be lukewarm by the time we picked it up. We used the online ordering system on the Wintergreen resort app for everything. I love it as it sends you a text when your food is ready. We utilized the fitness center. It was clean and they provided sanitizer and wipes. We made a reservation for the Pool and expected the occupancy would be limited, however there were at least 16 people there. We stayed in our little corner and attempted to socially distance during our hour time period. Not sure why reservations were recommended with so many people allowed to swim. We went from 1PM-2PM. The period from 12PM-1PM had only 3 swimmers and we assumed our time period would be the same. We attempted to make tennis court reservations, however they were booked. There were a few 30 mins slots but that wouldn't give us enough time actually enjoy a game. Wood for fireplaces are outside of the condos. We totally walked by it everyday and didn't notice u too we asked the front desk where we could purchase some wood for our fireplace. They provide 2 Zip fire starters inside the condo. If you need more, ask the front desk and they'll give you 2-3 at a time. Overall the staff was friendly. One hound lady in the Edge would always make sure more orders were correct (No Bacon!). We appreciated her. Anytime we had questions, someone was always around to answer them. If rating based upon the room alone, 1-1.5 stars. I enjoyed my time. This was not a bucket list item but it was something that I would've never chosen to do, but happy that my gf picked it out. read more

As many people have stated it is important to know that all rentals at Wintergreen are owned. Since I had been to the resort previously I knew to ask for the same unit. I stayed in Unit 160 in the Mountain Lodge. The lodge rooms are good for anyone that do not have trouble with stairs. The bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. The pros about the room: clean, a kitchen with a mini fridge, full sized coffeemaker, cook top, sink, and dishes/pots. The cons: the bed was hard as a rock, I would bring a mattress topper and the tub doesn't drain. The biggest issue with Wintergreen is the customer service. We asked the front desk for help with finding a mattress topper as the lady said she couldn't help with that. She told us to call housekeeping, but instructed us to wait until much later since they were too busy to help us. If you call housekeeping no one answers, Ever! We finally saw a housekeeper in the hall and asked her and she was the rudest person. She basically said it was not her job and to call housekeeping. This is the experience you will get whenever you interact with someone at the resort. You will also find people just sleeping on the floor in the lobby, which I found weird. My husband enjoyed snowboarding so I will give them that. I would not recommend them for anyone that is expecting a full resort experience. It is basically like an apartment that happens to have winter sports in the area. read more

First time renting gear here. Waited in line for 30 min for a rental, only to get to the front & have them say I had to make a guest profile before renting -- made me step aside to fill it out & wait in line again once it was done. Mildly frustrating as the sign mentioning this was at the very FRONT of the line, when it should've been placed elsewhere so people would fill it out while waiting. Also, ran into some complications with my toddler, so I couldn't get on the lift at all -- wouldn't let me refund it, despite not having it scanned whatsoever. They will only let you refund if it was a medical reason. I literally got my lift pass an hour ago & spent half the time waiting in line for guest services. The last ski resort I went to they let me refund without issues since I never scanned my lift pass due to a different, non-medical reason. Pretty disappointing and unorganized. read more

First time staying here. It was pretty easy to GPS Our way here. We got a 2 bedroom condo. Checking in was a breeze. The staff was super friendly and quick. We got our room key and lift tickets quickly. She went over everything with us on a map. Our condo was exceptionally clean. The beds had fresh sheets and the bathrooms were super clean. It was modern but has a cottage feel. There are logs located on the front of the parking spaces to start a fire. The view was pretty nice. The only downfall about the rooms is that we could hear everything upstairs. We were unlucky this weekend and the people on top of us either had a dozen of little toddlers or were running horse race. We couldn't figure it out but the stomping was ridiculous. I banged the ceiling with a broom stick and they quite down but proceeded with the horse race. Our last day there, my husband was looking for an iron and stumbled upon someone's penis pump. I will attach pictures. He opened the case and we didn't know what it was, after a few secs of googling, it was a $500 penis pump. The kids and I had a good laugh. I called front desk to notify them. Poor guy who left it must've been super worried about it. Hate for him to have to spend that kind of money again. Lastly, I would stay here again. I really enjoyed the stay and so did my family. Reading through recent reviews, it seems like the same issues are rampant here. We booked tubing online for my friends birthday trip- which was suggested since they sell out so quickly. We showed up for our 5:30-7 tubing session and waited in line on the stairs while they opened. The announcements stated up to 3 people could link together, which was awesome because there were 4 of us and we wanted to link up! This is where it all started to go downhill (haha). We get up to the front of the line, and - nope, no one can ride together. WHAT?! We then got the spiel of "conditions change" - well, yes, we understand that. But what changed in the less than two minutes it took for us to get down the stairs, grab tubes, and get in line? We ended up asking to speak to a supervisor - and were directed to someone standing over on the side. We waited for no less than 10 minutes for the "supervisor" to come over. Who then told us, he wasn't a supervisor, and we'd have to wait for another "supervisor" to come over....another 10 minutes later, we're now almost an hour into our session, and have ridden once - to be told AGAIN he was not a supervisor, and were directed to the ticketing booth. Who also did NOT have any managers working. She called her supervisor (can you see why we're getting more and more frustrated at this point?) who said they can't do anything about it. I've NEVER has such a disappointing experience. We spoke with some of the other riders - who got to go down a total of 2 times. TWO TIMES for $34 dollars a person?!! Utterly ridiculous. The highlight of our trip was supposed to be tubing (who doesn't want to act like a kid again?!) and it ended up being the worst part of the weekend. I'd be LIVID if I took my children here. DEAD ANIMAL IN OUR BED We checked in last Friday and immediately got lunch at the market and ate in our 2 bedroom condo. My kids and I left my husband to shower and take a nap as he had taken a red eye and was exhausted. He called me 1/2 later to say we were moving rooms because THERE WAS A DEAD ANIMAL IN OUR BED!! Most likely a squirrel or a rat, but he could not tell because it had already started DECOMPOSING! If we had not been there for my brother's wedding we would have LEFT IMMEDIATELY. We were given a MINIMAL CREDIT. None of us were able to sleep the whole weekend even though we were in a different room. read more

Came up the Wintergreen Resort last evening. Went to breakfast to find the coppermine, the edge, and even the coffee shop is closed. Front desk stated they do have breakfast pizza at the service station. Yep, you heard that correct. They claim to be a premier resort, and only have a service station to serve breakfast. To make matters worse, The Edge bar is now closed during the week. Premier resort with no breakfast, no lunch, and no bar! Stay away, stay away, stay away! read more

Grew up in ny/nj so have been to bigger ski resorts and didnt expect much here... I was proven wrong! We read some of the bad reviews and expected the worst. Every staff member from check in to lifts and ticketing was extremely helpful and courteous. For the covid paranoid, everyone here wore a mask or covering-- no exceptions. Slopes were completely empty Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday we started 9am and didn't even see other skiers until 11/12 besides staff. We booked a ski lesson for the husband's first time. Don spent time to make sure he understood everything thoroughly and enjoy first time skiing. Highly recommend booking him for a lesson, with over 50 years experience. He went above and beyond for his teaching. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Parking was convenient. Restrooms were clean, pizza was hot and fresh. Honestly there wasn't much to complain about. We took this as an inexpensive 2 day trip away from VB. It was the end of the season and still, lots of snowmaking and great conditions. Don't have anything to complain about and can't wait until next year. read more

It was Tough Mudder time at the resort and I stayed one night for the convenience of it. That was a good decision! I booked a two bedroom condo overlooking the slopes. Let me tell you, the view was breathtaking. The condo had everything you could possibly need. Balcony with table and chairs. Kitchen complete with 4 burner stove, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, dish washer, full sized refrigerator, plates, utensils, pans. Living room with Wood burning fireplace and a stack full of wood. Couch with pull out bed. Huge windows. Flat screened tv in living room and a tv in each bedroom. DVD and VHS players. Table games like trivial pursuit and monopoly. Dining room with table and seating for 6. Master bedroom with bathroom. Hallway bathroom. Foyer with bench. Washing and drying machines. For Tough Mudder, they had shuttles running to the condos every 15 minutes that deposited you to the main lodge area and entrance to the mudder. That way we didn't have to drive and re-park our car. This was my first time there, and from the feel of the slopes that I ended running up. I think I will come back in the winter for some snowboarding. They have a nice spa and gym area. A shopping center and a few restaurants. It was really more than I expected to see. One thing I didn't appreciate was the wifi. It cost $9. I think it should be come with the room. The room coast around $400, but again it was a two bedroom condo with all the amenities and enough room to sleep six. Or, to be honest, you could bring a bigger group of people with sleeping bags and it would still be big enough. Me likey. I think you'd likey too. read more

Wintergreen is a poorly run organization and I would not recommend visiting them. For one, they begin closing 45-minutes before their "official" closing time. Half of the trails were closed when we visited in mid-January. The line facilitators do not effectively manage the crowds waiting to get on the ski lift. The attendant didn't know whether season-pass holders could park in the lot closest lot. And lastly, renting just one piece of equipment is not allowed; you have to pay for the ENTIRE package even if you just want boots. I won't be coming back again and will discourage my friends from doing so. read more

From the time we stepped foot onto the property we were disappointed. We booked in here to attend a family reunion. The lodge, and all the facilities, has a dated, worn appearance, and is badly in need of an update. At first the staff were friendly, but the desk clerk kept us waiting while she answered numerous phone calls, and other staff checked several people in before she got around to us. We were told our room was not ready, which was okay since we had arrived early. We were told check in was 4pm. So we went out to enjoy the music and beautiful day. We met up with several family members who arrived after us, and every single one of them got their rooms before us. We had a reunion event down the mountain (25 minute drive) beginning at 5pm. The staff kept telling us it would be ready soon, in a just a moment. We asked to speak to the manager, but they kept putting us off. At 5, we were still sitting in the lobby while most everyone else was at the event. Finally, one of the managers, Mark Ridge, happened to come by and asked how everything was, so we told him what was going on. Within a few minutes, he had shown us to a temporary room to change our clothes in, and helped us get on our way. When we returned from the event later that evening, our room was finally ready. We spoke to Mr. Ridge the next day and he was very concerned that we were satisfied, and he listened to some of our other comments. His professional attitude and concern really helped to make up for our bad first impression. Just a couple of other things worth noting: 1) this is not a typical hotel. Each of the rooms is privately owned, and is as nice as the owner cares to make it. Although ours was nice, we heard from family that not all of the rooms were. 2) there is no concierge and no one to greet you upon your arrival. And you have to struggle to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs because there is no elevator. If it hadn't been for Mr. Ridge, this would have been a 1 star review. His assistance and concern brought it up to 2 stars, and he had only been on the staff for 3 months. This place has so much potential, it's almost sad how they have let it go. Journeyed to Wintergreen from DC but was disappointed. Customer Service was not good. The front desk clerk was a little rude and didn't give us adequate directions to get to our cabin. Secondly we went there to snowboard where getting lessons was essential however trying to get someone on the phone, or email or to return a message was impossible. The food was not great either. I went to Wintergreen from 8/9/19 - 8/12/19. I read a lot of reviews about Wintergreen prior to making my reservation. I can agree with some of the Yelpers. My unit needed an upgrade. It was clean but felt like it was straight out of the 1970s. It is important to understand when staying at Wintergreen that it is not a traditional hotel (which I knew from doing a lot of research). Each unit is owned by an individual and the condition of your unit is entirely dependent on what the owner has choose to and not to do. I spoke to a couple of employees about how my the unit was dated. I received the same feedback. Wintergreen management is trying to pressure owners to do a better job of keeping up their units. I learned from employees if you visit enough you know what unit(s) to ask for. Wintergreen is also very large and separated into communities. I encourage anyone who visits to check the map and think about what you're planning on doing when booking your stay. I do believe Wintergreen listen to "my notes" on their reservation section of their website. I asked for a unit with a nice view near the aquatic center. The unit might have been dated but our view was spectacular. I loved sitting on small deck looking at the mountains. I also used Wintergreen's tennis courts, aquatics center and had breakfast at Cooper Mill. No complaints. In fact, high praise for both the tennis courts and aquatics center. I did not make a reservation for tennis prior to arriving. I walked to tennis center when they opened to see if I could get a court for my friend and I. The employees could not have been more pleasant and worked hard to find my friend and I court to play on. I would consider coming back for one of their "tennis weekends". The tennis program seemed very well organized. The aquatic center was not super crowded when I visited and even if it had been there was more than enough space to accommodate a crowd. I had breakfast with a couple of friends at Cooper Mill. Everyone found something to enjoy in their breakfast buffet. It is important to note that when dining at Wintergreen you will pay resort prices. However, I thought the price for the breakfast buffet was reasonable considering it was onsite. I do believe Wintergreen should do a better job of explaining how their free shuttle works. I did realize until my second day that to use the shuttle all you had to do was call and would come directly to you. Our shuttle driver was great. I really appreciated when he realized we hadn't seen the look out (where most of the weddings take place) that he drove us there. He waited for us to take a couple of pictures. This is an example of how nice and professional the employees were. I did not every experience bad service at Wintergreen. The employees really do seem to go out of their way to make the guests happy. In a nutshell, I would go back to Wintergreen but I am going to ask more questions about the units available. read more

I am wondering where to begin. I should've conducted more research into what was available during the week. I took a last minute family trip to this resort and stayed Tuesday-Thursday. I wasn't prepared with the food situation as many resteraunt open starting Thursday or close early the other days. When we checked in I was handed a schedule and a map. It would've been nice to receive a high level overview of resort offerings. The only thing we were able to do was some hiking and swimming. The highlights were the mountains and the condo. I was nervous as I entered the main door to the condo building. The carpet and doors were worn and did not look inviting. I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit that took my breath away. My regrets are definitely not fully being aware of activities and not planning better with food. The stress of these things took away from what I needed as a scenic retreat following the recent death of my mother. I also wish I would've stayed longer. read more

Worst part about the resort is the wait to get into your condo. Check in was at 4 and our condo wasn't resdy at 4:30. We had to throw a fit at the front desk before we got the key. Mind you, we checked in at 11. The other not so great part is the affordability of lift tickets and rental during holidays. Ridiculously higher than usual. Also, they needs more activities to be available to be a well rounded resort. They need a waterpark like Massanutten. My daughter enjoyed it at Wintergreen but stated she'd rather go back to Massanutten so she can go to the waterpark after skiing. Also need to reopen their skating rink that's been closed for 2 years. Otherwise, the resort is awesome. We enjoyed being up the mountain and the variety of restaurants/market in place. The Edge had good food. Their servers and workers at most parts of the resort are J1 students so you get exemplary service. read more

We had group of 7 coming to ski. We booked our lift tickets in advance to avoid issues with COVID. We spent a hefty amount to reserve hotel rooms and get sitters for our kids. We were so excited and two ppl in our group were celebrating their birthdays. Somehow, Wintergreen ski resort found a way to completely ruin our weekend. When we arrived, we were greeted by a sign stating "Rentals are sold out today". First off, they weren't "sold out", they had an entire rental shop stocked but were "understaffed to support rentals". They apparently only allow you to reserve equipment online. We re-checked their website and found ZERO links or postings supporting this. Nothing. Which explains why the line for lift ticket refunds was 4 times longer than the bunny slope. I find it disgusting that wintergreen sold this reasoning as a "fight against covid" when in fact, we got stuck inside a tiny hallway, crammed with people requiring refunds, for hours. If I catch COVID-19, I know it will be because of wintergreens disorganized, irresponsible, leadership. Very sad that customer satisfaction clearly means nothing to wintergreen, and neither us nor any of our friends will ever come here again. read more

When we booked our lodging with Wintergreen online, there's no prompt online that asked for my boyfriend's military details for the 20% discount so we figured we will get it upon check-in. When we checked-in, they asked for his military ID so we figured they would apply it. It turns our after you book online you have to call the reservation office to get the 20% discount before checking in because once checked in they won't be able to change the amount you will pay upon check out. How would anybody know to call reservations after booking if there are no instructions in the website or the email confirmation to do so? It's very deceiving. The front desk, especially the manager, petite brunette lady, is not very helpful. She said she can't do anything. I don't think it's impossible for her to change our reservations. They should be able to do so. read more

I worry about the impact of climate change on Wintergreen's ability to survive. It was 70...70 DEGREES in FEBRUARY. WTF?! But you wouldn't know it from the crowds! It was President's Day weekend and we ventured up to Wintergreen for part of the weekend, arriving early Saturday for skiing, food, drinks and staying the night to enjoy some hiking on Sunday. First, before I get into Wintergreen, I have to put a PSA out there. We were parking the car and heard a loud bang behind us. We turned around and saw a fender bender (why do people lose their minds in parking lots?!). Anyway, for the trip, I packed a little black wallet with some cash $260 to spend on lunch, maybe shop a little, rentals, whatever; my drivers' license, credit card and debit card). In the commotion of the accident, which happened mere feet away, I was distracted and dropped my wallet. . I figured it out by the time we got to the Village and backtracked, but in that short time someone picked it up. The whole time I was searching, I was thinking "Please do the right thing, please do the right thing." Okay, well maybe some honorable, honest person picked it up and turned it in, so I checked with the front desk at the Lodge...nope. Checked with lost and found...nope. I went back multiple times and it was never turned in. I can't say I'm surprised that people are that dishonest, but I had hope that with my driver's license, the finder of my wallet would feel some sense of responsibility, decency, humanity and turn it in. Nope. Anyway, I was bound and determined to not let my absentmindedness and someone else's lack of morale compass ruin my day. Canceled my credit card, debit card and said a prayer that the person who kept my wallet would feel some sense of remorse or meet their fate on the slopes, and continued my lovely weekend. So Wintergreen definitely has some magic...it's super cute and the people working there clearly enjoy it. My issue is that the place isn't set up to handle a crowd. We wanted to have a sit down lunch, but had to eat preformed cheeseburgers for $7.95, that were, well...basic sustenance, but definitely not enjoyable. How hard is it to make a decent burger for $8? I get that they have to make money to offset costs, but really? ! A canned beer was $5, and wine at the coffee shop was $6.50. I did enjoy an iced coffee, which was reasonably priced and was served up by some really nice, professional folks. In the past, the facility looked tired, worn down, not well cared for, but I think it looks like someone is investing in the place. That makes me really happy and want the improvements to continue. I do like Wintergreen and hope that the new owners continue to invest to give consumers more options for restaurants and activities. This could become a year round destination, if it is invested in and marketed properly. P.S. to the person who didn't turn in my wallet, I hope the way you paid it forward comes back to you tenfold. read more

I recently rented a cabin here with my family for Christmas and had the best time. The cabin was in great condition. The TVs were a bit outdated in the bedrooms with no hdmi connections but that was a minor issue. Also the restaurant on site closed at 10pm and I wish it would've been open a bit later since the cabins are secluded. After a long day we wanted to just grab a drink but now had to drive atleast 30-40 mins away for the closest chain restaurant. Opening atleast until midnight would've been perfect. Besides that I had thee best time. They were great with time response, when needed they were there within 15 mins. I loved the live fire place we able to make s'mores. read more
