Oakhurst Inn was a special place to stay on my birthday and it has overwhelmingly attentive front desk and valet service. I spent my birthday here and it was a last minute plan after finding out my dog has a terminal illness. The staff were so kind and helpful. My trip to Charlottesville will be remembered for many reasons. It will be a fond memory and keepsake of this trip with my dog during this time in her life. Thank you, Oakhurst Inn for providing this service and making things so seamless. If you travel with pets, Oakhurst Inn offers select rooms. Call in advance to make sure one is available. They don't have a refrigerator in the room so plan ahead if you have any food or items that are perishable. Enjoy your stay with your furry friend.

All frills, no thrills! My partner and I wanted to get away for Valentines Day weekend, so we decided to book a room at the Oakhurst Inn. We assumed the stay would be luxurious and worth the price (after all, the Inn is more expensive than most other lodging facilities in the area). Unfortunately, what they woo you in fancy gimmicks, like champagne waiting at check-in, doesn't measure up to the comfort of a hotel like the Graduate or an Airbnb. The Oakhurst Inn comprises of different satellite locations on a singular property, and we booked a room at the Café. This made check-in and parking confusing, but we finally figured out the location after speaking to the front desk - and drinking our beloved champagne. Related to this point (re location), do note that if you're staying in the café, you need to walk to the main office to access the bar (these amenities are not within the same building). This also means that there is no immediate access to water, food service, etc. In 30-40 degree weather? Kind of a bummer. Speaking of which, the room is freezing! You can tell there isn't much insulation in the bathroom, which faces the outdoor patio behind the café. Everything is cold to the touch and the bathroom windows are filthy. The room could really use a deep clean, especially during COVID. There are some tasteful details, like the coffee station (although there is no tea, despite hosting a tea bag coaster). You could tell there was no effort to restock the sugar or the shampoo (nearly empty). The alarm clock was not working, but was surely gosh darn cute, sitting above the bed. I found the artwork quirky, but fun. The bed was a dream - spacious, breathable fabric and bedding, and lots of pillows with adjustable night-side tables that pull down from the frame (and/or can be stowed away). This makes for convenient storage. I would like to note that the phone in the room did not work. We tried to call the front desk, but the phone kept ringing (even after we dialled the phone). No worries, we have wifi for our cell phones! Accessibility: We climbed a steep staircase to our room; at the top, the stairs curled in on an angle and I found them incredibly awkward and difficult to navigate. I would not recommend this stay for someone with limited mobility and/or disabilities. Fortunately, my partner and I are both young and agile, but I assume some people staying here might find the situation uncomfortable. All in all, there are some exciting amenities and features, like a huge bed and plenty of cable television. However, I was not impressed with the stay. The food is overpriced, the staff is disorganized (we tried ordering room service in the morning, only to be placed on hold and forgotten about; the number to the café was incorrect and forwarded us to the main office), the location is subpar, and the price is simply not worth the (supposed) elegance. Sorry, but better luck next time!

The Oakhurst Inn is well maintained and has updated, clean rooms. The front desk was extremely helpful and responsive throughout our stay. The only downside is that the building has very thin walls and we had people staying next to us who we heard talking, closing doors and walking around all through the night.

A beautifully furnished inn with excellent, friendly service. Lot of space as well. Love the common area in each cottage. They offer coffee, tea, and cold drinks. Lots of books. The whole place has a homey and library ambiance. Retro-chic is the word. They offer valet parking (it's required and free)

We had a completely magical stay at the Oakhurst. The Inn has a vintage chic vibe and the staff were kind and helpful. Our room also had the most beautiful bathroom I've ever seen in my life. I can't recommend the Inn highly enough!

This is a charming boutique hotel with a huge "but". We were told the owner of the inn also owns the college apartments in front of the houses where our rooms are. The two don't mix well. This is the second time since 11 PM that I've been awakened by the young voices just outside my room on this summer night. Maybe winter would be quieter but I won't be back to see. The hotel staff, especially Jess, were nice but they can't fix the noise. I've been awake nearly an hour now with the noise. There was just a loud outburst of screams and laughter which apparently awoke the person above me because I heard him get up. When I'm paying this much for a hotel room I expect to be able to sleep. Edit: In the morning as we checked out I reported the lack of sleep. Jake apologized and asked how he could make me feel better. He removed that night's charge and made us coffee. The cafe and the lobby don't serve coffee until 8 on weekends.

    Pelotons!

Location is another huge plus--right near UVA and central to everything you'd want while visiting Charlottesville. Without hesitation, this is the best place to stay in Charlottesville. I had hoped that it would offer a high class experience, but it was just okay. The room had some minor aesthetic touches, but in substance was pretty standard. The entrance to the hotel felt a bit cramped, and the building seemed centered around the restaurant that didn't have much for me. The sheets caused some skin irritation, and I wish all hotels used the most hypoallergenic detergent available. From a service perspective, it was quite good. I was offered an early checkin and also took a late checkout, so I got a ton of time with the room. They also stored my luggage, including various baked goods, after I was done. So I got a lot of value out of the room. The question to me was how this hotel would compare to the others that are in downtown Charlottesville; would the experience be worth a bit more than the more standard Marriotts or various others. I was not convinced that it would be worth spending the extra money on.

I haven't stayed at many places that feel more like a five-star resort than this one. Driving up to the property felt like being in a car commercial, rolling hills, gorgeous scenery, and impeccable service waiting the moment we arrived. Check-in was seamless. We stayed in one of the rooms in the new wing, which was absolutely stunning. In 2017, the hotel completed a multi-year, $2 million renovation and expansion, and it shows in every detail. Our room overlooked the grounds and was part of the beautiful new addition. The room itself was spacious and elegant, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and a cozy nook perfect for reading or relaxing. The bathroom was equally luxurious and practically begged for a long shower. Waiting for us in the room was a handwritten note wishing us a wonderful mother-daughter trip, along with thoughtful gifts from the spa. Another nice touch: branded, reusable water bottles to use at the filling stations around the property. I loved this sustainability piece that doubles as a keepsake. During our stay, I walked the grounds, visited the spa, and toured the Southern Living Idea House which is on its ground, though honestly, this is the kind of hotel where simply staying on property feels like a vacation. Because we visited in winter, the pool was closed, but seeing it made me want to return in the spring. The fitness center was well appointed, the tennis court s and area were beautiful, and the championship golf course was gorgeous! I'm not a golfer, but I loved looking at this course from the mini windows and patios overlooking it! I'll share more about the spa in a separate review, but trust me, it is not to be missed. And the on-site restaurant, Marigold, is an absolute delight. Jean-Georges' effortless style comes through in both the ambiance and the food. We enjoyed two dinners and a brunch there, and I genuinely wish I could have eaten even more. Wow. Another standout perk is the fleet of BMWs available for guests to check out and explore the surrounding area. We chose to only venture out once, to Jefferson Vineyard, but there is plenty to explore in the greater Charlottesville area for those wanting more. In closing, this hotel is incredible! Perfectly styled and wonderfully relaxing. I will be thinking about it and my lovely time there for many years to come!

From the moment we checked in, every staff member we interacted with went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They also provided us with a lot of recommendations which we appreciated. When we first arrived, we had a quick lunch at the grille. It overlooked the driving range with a beautiful view. They had a lot of food options. I got the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. We also dined at Marigold each morning for breakfast, as it was included in our stay. The omelet was amazing! We ate at Marigolds for dinner as well the last night, and the food was truly unbelievable. There's clearly a focus on fresh, local ingredients, and the menu offers something for everyone. Highly recommend the truffle pizza and the shrimp salad! We also took advantage of the spa during our stay. We each had a massage / facial. The spa was also beautifully set up, and I really enjoyed the steam room and sauna. The only thing that would've made it even better is if there was a private pool for the spa guests to use as well. The massage was wonderful though and very relaxing! We also got to enjoy the pool. It wasn't too crowded and the pool itself was luxurious. Keswick Hall is truly a gem in Charlottesville. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

Our mattress was firm and comfortable. The shower pressure decent, the room quiet and the view pleasant. When we finally decided on this hotel, mainly because it was halfway to our final destination of Pennsylvania, and it looked quite interesting, I had trouble booking through their webpage. Maybe you can blame it on me? I just couldn't quite get the system to accept the "check in--checkout" dates. So I gave them a call and booked through a representative located in Las Vegas Vegas. Everything went smoothly. She was very friendly and accommodating. We actually loved the curvy roads leading up to the winery and hotel. That portion of the trip would've been better in our roadster for sure! We were checked in by a friendly gentleman named Thomas. He gave us a room next to the outdoor pool. Finishings kind of reminded us a little bit of the accommodations. It was peacefully decorated, and mostly comfortable except for the couch. We were only using it to lounge in and something more comfortable would have been desirable. I took advantage of the dry sauna and hot tub, which was a short walk across the parking lot. We tried to take advantage of the grounds by walking around the small lake and through the fields. If they were in a dedicated walking trails, we didn't find them! We took a tour of the main house and enjoyed our French inspired continental breakfast, though croissants would've been a nice touch! The vistas from the winery and the hotel are quite spectacular! Yes, that would have worked, but I also would have missed the experience here. Being off season one cannot take in all the amenities like the pool, some of the outdoor activities, and just the ability to lounge or otherwise enjoy the surrounds while staying here. However, it still turned out to be a great experience. You need to pass through a double gate to get to the lobby. The first one would take you to the Trump Winery and the second one to the Estate itself. Yes, it is still a hotel, but it feels like a country club from start to finish. The place is small enough where they, for the most part, go off your name. Dinner reservation? Okay, here is your table. Done? There is no tab (or tip for that matter). My main of DUCK - Pan roasted medium-rare duck breast with cherry port wine sauce, honey glazed rainbow carrots, wild rice pilaf with estate grown herbs, was the best duck I have had in a very long time. Plus, having a flight of Trump wine (white in this case) gave me a preview of the winery I would get to tomorrow. The Viognier I found to be the surprise interest out of the four I tried.
