    Quirk cafe

LOCATION. PARKING. COMFORT. TRENDY. I stayed out here for work near UVA. the hotel was extremely comfortable and felt safe. Beds are comfortable and you can cast streaming apps to the TV. The hotel is beautifully designed and clean. There are also different food options at the hotel and in the surrounding area. Quirk cafe is connected for breakfast and lunch, or a coffee to go. It is a decent price for the location and comfort. Parking is a little difficult, but I was able to park on the street near the hotel during my stay. Valet parking is also provided during certain hours for a fee. I will be staying here again if I am in the area.

I stopped by Quirk during my tour of the new Charlottesville spaces/restaurants. I was mainly going in to share pictures of the hotel and amenities available. As I did not stay at Quirk Hotel, I cannot comment on service or prices. Although, I looked at prices online and comparatively they are more expensive than other hotel locations nearby. The hotel itself was beautiful and the adjacent cafe makes me want to sit in there and sip coffee and do work all day. They also had a store in the lobby (pricey) that had very cute items (similar to what a Paper Source would carry). I've attached pictures for your reference.

I stayed here to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hotel is beautifully decorated and a perfect spot to access great restaurants nearby. There is also a restaurant inside the hotel that is worth dinning at for dinner. They also have a cafe next door that you can grab some breakfast or lunch. They have a cute gift shop where you can pick up something for yourself or a friend/family. It's definitely a great place for a quick weekend getaway.

This is a review for the Quirk rooftop lounge. Decorations and aesthetic are 10/10. This place is super chic and perfect for photos. Drink: 2/10 - the king's smash was not great at all, which was sad since it was $12. My friend got the pink breeze which was better, but only a 3/10. Free birthday Dessert: 7/10 - The Panna Cotta was very sweet. I've had it in France before, and this was definitely different. The fruit really helps balance out the sweetness.

Nice place to sit for a drink. Outdoor and indoor patio seating. Pretty difficult to get service though with no one at the host stand and the server only coming by once in a while.

Oh, was this place wonderful! My friend and I went on my birthday to have some cocktails and appetizers. We didn't make reservations and went on a Thursday at dinner time during graduation weekend and still got a nice table outside! You enter through the hotel and take the elevators up to the 5th floor where you can find Quirk Rooftop bar. They have a full menu including salads, pizzas, desserts and appetizers along with fun cocktails, beer and wine. Their cocktails are pricey but no more than other nice spots with talented bartenders. Service was too notch! What a view and the rooftop seating options wrap all the way around the building. There's also space to have a private party on the rooftop too. My friend had the picante pizza and she loved it, spicy!

We had some positives and negatives at The Quirk. First, the only negative. My wife and I checked in and were told about a happy hour that is from four to six, the happy hour is also on the website. So, today February 7th, 2023 we walked down to the lobby bar at 430 and asked about happy hour. The bartender, who took 5 minutes to greet us said there is not a happy hour while texting on his phone. I responded with the front desk said there is one from four to six. The bartender then proceeded to tell us that they lied there has never been a happy hour... Seems like a major problem. I asked for a manager the bartender said he talked to the manager and that the happy hour that is on the website will not be honored. I talked to the front desk and they said there is a happy hour and we should just ask for the prices. We asked the bartender again and were told we could go somewhere else if wed like even after showing him the website and having the front desk come over. So we went to another bar for happy hour. My question is who was the manager on duty Feb 7th 2023 at 4 pm? Second question why have it on your website, push at check in and text out the happy hour if is is not a thing?!?! The rooms were amazing, the front desk staff was wonderful and house keeping couldn't have been better. The bartender is the sole reason ill never be back.

My husband and I have visited Charlottesville several times and have stayed in numerous hotels, but the Quirk Is THE BEST ! The ivy art exhibit in the main lobby is magnificent, please take the time to view the work. Secondly, I love the modern, minimalist aesthetic of the hotel. Decor is simple, but sophisticated. Our room was perfect. You will get the best sleep of your life at the Quirk. I have never stayed at a hotel with electric room darkening blinds, but I'll never go back. The room was spacious for us, but more importantly, for our dog. She was the biggest fan of the Quirk and she won't let us go to Charlottesville anymore without taking her and staying at the Quirk. Thank you to the staff for their warm welcoming hospitality

After a few turns, we located it across the street from another similar hotel. It was close to, but before, check-in time. We were allowed to proceed up to the room anyway. This is one of the larger Homewood Suites I've stayed at. Most of them seem to be roughly the same size, though layouts differ. This one seemed about 50% bigger than usual. The parking lot was large also. They still had a masks-in-public-spaces policy (maybe due to local / state governments?) but it was only semi-observed. To their credit, breakfast seemed to be back to pre-pandemic normal - it was a buffet with most of what passed for regular items circa early 2020. I'd gotten accustomed to reduced selections over the past 18 months, but it was heartening to see this. We were only there one night, so we only enjoyed breakfast on Wednesday. Check in and check out were handled quickly. We had no issues with the room. Despite being adjacent to the elevator area, the room was quiet. The property was within a 10-minute drive of the University campus also. Restaurants and grocery stores were within walking distance, if needed. I'd gladly stay here again.

I had hoped that it would offer a high class experience, but it was just okay. The room had some minor aesthetic touches, but in substance was pretty standard. The entrance to the hotel felt a bit cramped, and the building seemed centered around the restaurant that didn't have much for me. The sheets caused some skin irritation, and I wish all hotels used the most hypoallergenic detergent available. From a service perspective, it was quite good. I was offered an early checkin and also took a late checkout, so I got a ton of time with the room. They also stored my luggage, including various baked goods, after I was done. So I got a lot of value out of the room. The question to me was how this hotel would compare to the others that are in downtown Charlottesville; would the experience be worth a bit more than the more standard Marriotts or various others. I was not convinced that it would be worth spending the extra money on.

It was nice to be walking distance from shops and restaurants, but it was also conveniently located close to a highway, which made driving to other places easy. We didn't drive our EV, but they had free charging for guests, and most of the time the chargers were not occupied. The breakfast provided was pretty standard, buffet-style - bacon, eggs, waffles / pancakes, toast, bagels, yogurt, cereal, fruit, coffee, juices, etc. One small hiccup was that both of our room keys no longer worked randomly, even though I didn't have it close to my cell phone. I haven't stayed at many places that feel more like a five-star resort than this one. Driving up to the property felt like being in a car commercial, rolling hills, gorgeous scenery, and impeccable service waiting the moment we arrived. Check-in was seamless. We stayed in one of the rooms in the new wing, which was absolutely stunning. In 2017, the hotel completed a multi-year, $2 million renovation and expansion, and it shows in every detail. Our room overlooked the grounds and was part of the beautiful new addition. The room itself was spacious and elegant, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and a cozy nook perfect for reading or relaxing. The bathroom was equally luxurious and practically begged for a long shower. Waiting for us in the room was a handwritten note wishing us a wonderful mother-daughter trip, along with thoughtful gifts from the spa. Another nice touch: branded, reusable water bottles to use at the filling stations around the property. I loved this sustainability piece that doubles as a keepsake. During our stay, I walked the grounds, visited the spa, and toured the Southern Living Idea House which is on its ground, though honestly, this is the kind of hotel where simply staying on property feels like a vacation. Because we visited in winter, the pool was closed, but seeing it made me want to return in the spring. The fitness center was well appointed, the tennis court s and area were beautiful, and the championship golf course was gorgeous! I'm not a golfer, but I loved looking at this course from the mini windows and patios overlooking it! I'll share more about the spa in a separate review, but trust me, it is not to be missed. And the on-site restaurant, Marigold, is an absolute delight. Jean-Georges' effortless style comes through in both the ambiance and the food. We enjoyed two dinners and a brunch there, and I genuinely wish I could have eaten even more. Wow. Another standout perk is the fleet of BMWs available for guests to check out and explore the surrounding area. We chose to only venture out once, to Jefferson Vineyard, but there is plenty to explore in the greater Charlottesville area for those wanting more. In closing, this hotel is incredible! Perfectly styled and wonderfully relaxing. I will be thinking about it and my lovely time there for many years to come!

We ate at Marigolds for dinner as well the last night, and the food was truly unbelievable. There's clearly a focus on fresh, local ingredients, and the menu offers something for everyone. Highly recommend the truffle pizza and the shrimp salad! We also took advantage of the spa during our stay. We each had a massage / facial. The spa was also beautifully set up, and I really enjoyed the steam room and sauna. The only thing that would've made it even better is if there was a private pool for the spa guests to use as well. When we finally decided on this hotel, mainly because it was halfway to our final destination of Pennsylvania, and it looked quite interesting, I had trouble booking through their webpage. Everything went smoothly. She was very friendly and accommodating. We actually loved the curvy roads leading up to the winery and hotel. That portion of the trip would've been better in our roadster for sure! We were checked in by a friendly gentleman named Thomas. He gave us a room next to the outdoor pool.
