We stayed here 2 nights, and didn't have any major issues. The room was clean, the staff was nice, and the location was great for our purposes. It was nice to be walking distance from shops and restaurants, but it was also conveniently located close to a highway, which made driving to other places easy. We didn't drive our EV, but they had free charging for guests, and most of the time the chargers were not occupied. The breakfast provided was pretty standard, buffet-style - bacon, eggs, waffles / pancakes, toast, bagels, yogurt, cereal, fruit, coffee, juices, etc. One small hiccup was that both of our room keys no longer worked randomly, even though I didn't have it close to my cell phone. It was a minor inconvenience, but we had to go back to the front desk to get it re-activated. read more

My friends and I stayed one night here and found our stay was very nice. We booked a room with two queen beds and were excited to find it also had a pull out couch as we had three guests in the room. The room was very clean and maintained a comfortable temperature throughout the night. The Bathroom and Shower were clean with an optional floor mat to prevent slips. Additionally, we ordered some food from the in-house restaurant and found the food to be delicious. The continental breakfast was large with lots of variety and a nice seating area. We also enjoyed the indoor pool for some swimming. I also would like to shout out Sonya. She was the only staff working during our night but she was the best part of our stay. She had a warm smile and was great to engage with. She made our food and even helped with extra blankets and some fruit. Stayed for one night and enjoyed everything about this hotel. Very clean, modern, well appointed, location cannot be beat. Parking was not an issue. Service was so friendly. The King room was a great deal, given all the amenities. Spacious, bed was very comfortable, views were nice. The mini fridge was a great size to store necessities and it had a quiet operation (noisy equipment can ruin a good night's sleep). Same with the HVAC - it worked very well and was well hidden in the room (enclosed). Didn't try their free breakfast so can't speak to that. I believe they're pet-friendly because I heard one dog down the hall. Really appreciated the little touches. The blackout blinds had two layers and were really effective at keeping light out and pretty to look at. The lighting was fabulous (lots of lamps throughout so you can adjust based on mood). There was a local guidebook on the table which was a nice touch; actually read the book and learned some things about the area. Overall, the room felt cozy. It was inviting. Tip: Let the hot water run for a few minutes before you take a shower. It takes awhile to warm up. I took two showers during my stay; this didn't bother me but I wish they would have a note in the bathroom to warn guests! The room was clean. Didn't have any funky odors. I loved everything about this hotel! My babe and I took a lil road trip to see the Cardi B concert back in July 2019. We decided to make this trip a 48 hour trip just in case we were too tired to drive back the same night. As a result, we needed somewhere to stay... This hotel is in a great location and it's beautiful. The hotel staff was on point from the front desk to the cleaning crew. We called and requested items a few times and our wants were met without hesitation. We decided to have an early dinner before the show and the restaurant we chose was within walking distance of the hotel. Parking is free. But this best part of this hotel is the complimentary breakfast... so bomb! Fresh fruit... I was in awe... great presentation! Stayed 6 nights and all was okay. Nice front desk. Had to come back to Charlottesville a week later. Stayed one night and it was Not good. Woman at front desk switched our rooms saying we did not want that one .... (Did pre check in ) she gave us a room she said was nicer & quiet. It was not good. Ac wasn't good, kept going on & off ... pillows hard as a rock and shower wasn't updated still had grout stained tile on the floor... smaller room. I had a great experience at this hotel. They have a full bar in the lobby with a surprising good list of bottled beers from different breweries. Prices are good too. The breakfast had a lot to offer as well. I was here for a high school reunion and they have an area outside where you can sit and hang out. We got probably a little loud each night but the area is in an area where not many rooms are so we didn't bother anyone (that we know of)! The room was clean and had all the amenities you would expect. I slept on the couch bed one night and it was surprisingly comfortable. Everyone in the front lobby was friendly and accommodating. The rate is competitive for the area and I liked that you could walk to dinner as there was a burger Bach and other options within walking distance. Site is easy to get to. First time I was ever spoken to so rudely at this hotel. I asked for a room for the night. She told me she had rooms but they started at 270/night. I said online it says $212 to which she replied "Not at this hotel". I confirmed the address and she told me to book it online. I did so, then went over to check in. I asked for a quiet room on highest floor possible. She said Not at this price point. I said ok, well please do your best. I said the young man who is usually here is so nice. She replied" I'm the new sheriff in town". Then she said if I had requested a high room not by elevator she would have given it to me without an up charge but since I did not request it online , Oh well. After I parked car I went back and asked what I did to offend her. By this point there was another employee there. She denied everything. Stating she would never speak to a guest that way. The great people at Hyatt proudly presents this newer class hotel Hyatt Place Charlottesville. I had the honor of being one of the very first to book this hotel on the day they opened up for reservations in late September. This hotel officially opened on October 1 and is located in a newly developed area called the Shops at Stonefield in close proximity to the Charlottesville Airport. The development includes major anchors of Hyatt and a Regal IMAX Cinema. The area is still under development, but some stores are already open such as Regal, Brooks Brothers and Burtons Grille. Soon to come are other anchors Trader Joes and Costco. Along with Orvis, Jimmy Johns, Pottery Barn, Pier 1 and Love Londons among others. The hotel itself is without a doubt a looker. It is a gorgeous ultra modern set up that was very pleasing to these eyes. The colors throughout are browns and reds with stone work, beige tile and dark gray carpeting. I took all the pics which provides what the hotel will visually look like, but the experience is what made the property standout. Upon entering the hotel I was promptly greeted by the manager and asked if he could assist with my bags. Staff was at their stations ready to assist with check-in which went very smoothly. The sweet thing about this class of Hyatt is all the perks that are provided at a tremendous value to the customer. FREE WiFi, FREE full breakfast, FREE parking and I am not done. Each room offers a refrigerator and the property has a nice exercise/weight room and pool. If you need to use a computer they have three with access to a printer boarding passes etc. The hotel also has a small bar offering specialty coffee, wine and beer. I loved entering my room and again seeing this modern feel throughout the hotel continue. Immediately after the room door closes you see a very cool large sliding opaque glass door to the bath. Plenty of storage with a clean line desk is offered across the wall. A nice L shaped couch and darn it if I did not see if this was a pull out, but I suspect it is. They also offer adjoining rooms for larger families. The beds and sheets were first class and I slept like great. The A/C was noisy and annoying, not sure at this point what can be done. But it is louder than other hotels I have stayed in. The good news is it worked wonderfully on a hot weekend. Also some dust on top of headboard was noted on initial walk through. The breakfast was sweet for a complimentary undertaking by Hyatt. First class offerings of china, glass and silverware is provided. Breakfast sandwiches on a skillet were delicious and my favorite. Other offerings are pancakes, donuts, cereal, fruit and various drinks on a very cool chiller plate. Lots of seating, including some outdoors too. The coffee is located in an adjacent room and is a little cumbersome when crowded since this is the ONLY place to get a cup of Joe. Everything I had was very good and staff was around to help. It is a self bus endeavor with an area to clear and put your silverware, cups and plates. The three staff for the most part did what the could keep it clean, but it was mobbed. I know service has really not been touched on, but let me assure you it was top notch and I was loving the hospitality. There was not a time when I was not very pleased with the staff. I had a few issues with the room since I was probably the first one to use it. Maintenance was immediately on it and resolved in 10 minutes. The Hyatt is known for a live person waking you up if ordering a wake up service. I did, but my room was never called. I notified the front desk who was apologetic and was going to look into it. There are some things that must be excused and this is one of them with working out the kinks of a new large hotel. On Saturday staff was struggling with preparing rooms for incoming desk and was tardy just after 3 PM. On my floor I saw the manager cleaning rooms himself to get the job done. Hello!!! this is impressive as heck and I admired the teamwork of mgt. The Hyatt Place will without a doubt be successful. It has everything going for it from location close to UVA (approximately 5 minute drive) and Stonefield Retail Center. But it's the hotel itself that provides an incredible value for it's customer that may be most remembered. Great job to all the staff who provided a wonderful experience. I loved this hotel. I was headed to UVA for work, but wanted to stay for pleasure. The hotel is located in a Town Center type area in the middle of trendy restaurants and shops. I stayed in a suite with a great view of the area. I left my new UGG slippers in the room when i checked out. I didn't realize it until after I returned home to Hampton Roads. I called the next day and was told by the receptionist that she would check with housekeeping. I honestly didn't think I would get a call back but I did. It was good news!! My slippers were found. Let me make this clear to all who come to Charlottesville for a visit you must stay here. The moment I arrived Brett checked me in and had me set up for two drop offs at a local brewery. After that I enjoyed the modern look of my room and most of all I enjoyed the comfort and the peace quiet. Later on I met the manager while waiting fort shuttle to arrive. He wanted to make sure I was enjoying my stay. He recommend several places to eat and drink at. When I was done talking my driver Neal took me all over down town to the local breweries in town. He saved me a ton in cab fare that night. The next day I enjoyed my free breakfast and then hit the road feeling refreshed. Wow, one of the better hotel stays we've ever had. Everyone has been so very nice from housekeeping to kitchen to front desk. Every last person. Came to C'ville for a short mini-vacay. Got a special rate for booking non-refundable tickets. Room: One bedroom king room. Very spacious. Room enough for our baby's air bed on the floor. Everything was very clean. Bathroom: It was quiet nice. Very sleek. It's interesting giving an infant a bath in the shower but we made it work. Appreciate the good water pressure and accurate temp controls. Amenities: The whole hotel is just lovely. The pool was warm and clean. Wifi was easy to access and very fast. The hotel sits beside an open air mall. Several restaurants, shops, movie theater and frozen yogurt with more to come. Nice options. Breakfast: This was one of the best part of the visit. We've had "free" breakfasts at hotels before. It's never been anything worth writing home about. This is not the case. This breakfast was so good we didn't want to go out. Sandwiches that were awesome. Pancakes, french toast, sausage, oatmeal, cereal. Everything was fresh and hot (or cold as needed.) I actually looked forward to breakfast. This Hyatt Place has the thinnest walls that I have ever experienced at a hotel. I could hear someone snoring in the room next to me and the typical noises that other guests make were extremely loud. It took me forever to fall asleep and I was close to checking out and going to another hotel. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Also, no recognition of Globalist status at check in from the front desk employees who really didn't seem like they wanted to be there. We booked a block of rooms for our son's wedding this past weekend and could not have been happier with everything. Rooms were well thought out with separate areas for sleeping, lounging (sofa with ottoman), working-- and even the bath/toilet was separated from the sink by pocket doors. But what really made it five stars was the service. Everyone was over-the-top professional and nice from housekeeping to front desk. I saw a guest lose it at a manager over a billing error that he had already corrected and he just let her rant run its course while neither changing his tone or expression. Afterwards we calmly discussed my question without mentioning the incident. Again, the mark of a professional. One of the bridesmaids was talking to another about wrinkles in her gown and one of the housekeeping staff overheard and offered to steam it for her. It turned out perfect. There was plenty of parking and not too far from the entrance. This location is close to the John Paul Jones Arena and would be perfect if you're in town for a show. It's also surrounded by multiple restaurants, bars, and trendy stores to past the time. The price of the rooms isn't too high either, but the way I look at it is you pay for what you get. read more

We generally had a good experience. Check In was pleasant and quick. I did not use the gym or pool, but they looked to be adequate. The hotel/rooms were new and nice, plenty of space for a family of 4. We got two queens and it came with a pull out sofa bed, so we utilized that. The complimentary breakfast was a pleasant surprise with fresh fruit and even roasted root vegetables, along w the staples of yogurt, scrambled eggs, ham, and sausage biscuits. The coffee was VERY good! My only criticism is the price. For one night, it ran a total of $184 which is closer to DC area prices. We did choose the Hyatt bc of its proximity to an event but if location is not a concern, the Hampton Inn and others across Route 29 might be a more competitively priced choice, for close to $50 cheaper. read more

The place is very clean, rooms are big enough for a family, and the staff are very friendly. The breakfast is simple (eggs, bacon, fruit) but good quality. Having a set of shops in a walkable shopping neighborhood was great especially the movie theater. That is all that really matters. I would stay here again. My only complaints are about the fitness area and drink prices. Only one bike and it was a recumbent one. I wanted a beer for my room and the beers were all over $6 but there's a Trader Joe's and several restaurants next door. I would definitely stay here again. read more

CLASSY! For about $160/night, I think this place was a steal. I made ressies for valentines wknd and pretty much everything was on point. Modern decor, chic finishes. The breakfast is one of the best complimentary breakfasts I've ever experienced. Biscuits were on point as well as the juice bar. Nice, high-end treadmills in the excercise room. Pool was decent size, not huge (although we would have preferred it stay open past 10pm. Come on, it's not like there's a lifeguard on duty. Why can't the pool stay open 24/7?) That was a little annoying to get kicked out of the pool. But other than that, everyone working there was great. Due to the lack of adjacency to town, it took a cab an extraordinarily long amount of time to arrive. Almost 30 minutes. Unacceptable. They should really have a closer relationship with one cab company that is reliable. Other than that, things here were perfect: all i's dotted and t's crossed. I would absolutely return. read more

Great place to stay! Love having such a spacious room. The set up is awesome. We got a King sized bed and I didn't expect to have such a roomy area. There's a small divider between the bed and an L-shaped couch area which gives somewhat of privacy if your with other people. We stayed here one weekend while we went wine tasting in the area. The hotel is in a up and coming area and everything is brand new. The hotel itself is in great condition and state-of-the-art when it comes to the needs of a tech-generation. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean, modern but fashionable, and the shower/bathroom was excellent. We did not eat there, just grabbed some late night bites. This is not a hotel to stay at if you want a view. It is in a really nice area, and there is a good donut shop, bar, restaurant, and shopping super close in a little shopping center. It is pretty close to the wineries and breweries so we will definitely be going back. This hotel is a 5 star all around. Staff- very friendly, gave great recommendations of things to do and places to eat and made conversation upon checking in. Breakfast- decent. Large selection and everything tastes good but the oatmeal was very thick and the coffee seemed to run out every couple minutes. Price- awesome. Cheapest Hyatt I've stayed at for a great room. Cleanliness- perfect. The bed was perfectly made and sheets were clean. The carpet was cleaned, I felt safe to walk around barefoot. The bathroom was clean as well from the shower to the sink to the toilet and the floor. And they definitely give plenty of towels. Only complaint is that there were not trash bags. I would hate to empty the trash without using a bag but I guess that's their standard, didn't bother me because I didn't have to empty it. read more

First visit to this place and I am a HUGE fan of this location already. The decor is ultra-sleek modern, the staff is friendly, and the room we had was spacious and GORGEOUS. Take advantageof the great breakfast spread in one of the coolest setups for a kitchen and lobby in any hotel I've ever been. The front desk attendant was polite and courteous, even asking how our drive was to the place. Five stars for a new hotel in Charlottesville. I liked the Hyatt Place concept -- for a mc-hotel-room, the room has a great seating area. Room was clean and new and uplifting to be in. Only drawback was that one bedside light was burnt out and the other light (two double beds) switch didn't work (room 526 if this hasn't been repaired yet). But on the fifth floor - it was quiet with excellent sleep quality. Great room. The Stonefield shops are a short walk away -- this Hyatt Place is in the midst of this new development. There are a lot of shops and a number of restaurants. Didn't go over there -- but wished we had had more time. Some shops look like and unique -- not just major chains. This was a very pleasant surprise. The breakfast was decent -- hash browns, eggs, fresh fruit (good job on the bananas). Didn't blow me away but the coffee got me going. If I had been on leisure travel, I would have walked to a brunch at the Stonefield development. This is my new favorite place to stay in Charlottesville. Convenient drive to UVA -- straight shot on Emmett. UVA is about 2-3 miles away -- Central Garage for access to the Lawn. Love this hotel concept. It is a winner. read more

I am currently staying at Hyatt Place for two weeks on business. My colleagues and I picked this hotel for cleanliness above all else. It didn't hurt that they are close to shopping, provide a shuttle to UVA, and complimentary breakfast each morning. My husband travels for business every other week, and assured me that every Hyatt he's been to is clean. I've stayed here three nights so far, and I am NOT happy. So unhappy, I'm going to go ahead and write this review. Cleanliness My quarters are not clean. I don't know what standards Hyatt Place is operating off of, but this is nasty. First, upon checking into my room, there was someone's leftover milk in my fridge. Okay, maybe they forgot. There was hair all over the floor. That's gross. When I took a shower before bed, there was some "I love ___" written in the fog, which shows me the mirror was not cleaned before I checked in. Sigh. After washing my face, and washing the makeup off my face, I threw all my towels onto the floor so I could get fresh ones. Well, when I came back the next day, not only had my trash not been emptied, the glass that I used still sitting on the desk, and still dirty, but the towel with makeup that was on the floor was simply hung back up. The hair was still on the floor as well. I let the front desk know that I believe housekeeping forgot to refresh my towels. I was polite. Last night, (Wednesday), when I come back to my room, there is still that same hair all over the floor. Clearly, they do not believe in vacuuming. Or emptying the trash, because it still has not been emptied. The last straw, was after my shower I go to lay down and there is long blonde hair all over my pillows. I have dark brown hair. Clearly not my hair. I called downstairs, and now I'm upset. This place is NOT clean. So, I leave a message for housekeeping. This morning, I placed the trashcan and glass right at the front door, so that housekeeping will clearly see it. I called the housekeeping manager this morning, and the front desk told me that the housekeeping manager is cleaning my room themselves. I really hope my room is cleaned. I have 9 days to go. Breakfast and Other Hot Messes The breakfast is terrible. Fresh fruit, needs to be one thing. Fresh. Tuesday's fruit had a very funny taste to it. I was told Wednesday the truck hadn't shown up to deliver fruit. That's okay. It also tips me off that Tuesday's fruit must've been leftovers, and should not have been served. The shuttle. They offer a shuttle, and I was sitting in the lobby waiting for it this morning, yet somehow it still left without announcing they were leaving. Maybe tomorrow I'll stand outside in the street so I don't miss it. I'm highly disappointed. I will be letting my agency know about the low cleanliness standards, and am praying I don't catch something like MRSA. I also will tell my husband to find another hotel chain to frequent, because Hyatt Place has let me down. 9 days to go. Update: My colleagues report popcorn on the floor of their room, and they don't even eat popcorn. Multiple people report dirty towels and hair on their sheets. read more

Then I was walking in with a guest and they yelled in the lobby "sir you didn't pay your bar bill". I complained to the manager and they blew me off. Decent rooms, good location 4 stars for that. Ridiculous breakfast hours. 6:30-9:00 and at 15 to 9 they stopped putting back cups, bowls and forks or refilling coffee pots.
