My family and I recently stayed here for a quick night away, and we had a truly delightful time! We snagged the adorable Emerson Pool Suite, which looked like a room out of a magazine. Everything was provided in the kitchen, which was great as we like to cook. Though we enjoyed someone else making breakfast--it was incredibly yummy! Our favorite touch about this place was the movie room! We all curled up with some complimentary popcorn and watched a movie on Netflix. Our close friends booked this for their wedding venue. Walden Hall serves as a one-stop shop for a wedding venue including lodging for the bride & groom. There's a fully renovated bed and breakfast cottage with close to a commercial-grade kitchen, huge outdoor patios, an opulent master suite with a master shower that could fit ten people inside. In the basement, it is completely tricked out with a kegerator, cigar humidor, pool table, 80s free-play arcade, projector movie theater, darts, gym, hot shot basketball, and air hockey table. The cottage has a side expansion with more rooms and a pool complete with covered patio. Outside, there is a beautiful meadow and pond for having an outdoor wedding. Then there is an all-new construction barn that serves as a wedding reception venue. Our event had well over 100 guests plus there was room for dancing, a DJ booth, professional photo booth, buffet tables, and a full-service bar. There is even a little red covered bridge lit up at night for doing a sparkler run outside. It's the works. read more

We just spent a fantastic weekend at Walden Hall. This was our first bed & breakfast experience, and I cannot imagine a more relaxful weekend anywhere else. We could have easily spent an entire week to take advantage of the numerous amenities available and take in the surrounding area, whether hiking or visiting the numerous wineries nearby. The pool area is resort-like, we spent half a day there just laying out, reading, relaxing, with intermittent dips in the pool. They have partnered up with the best wineries in the area and gave us free tasting cards that were immediately honored without question. Our room was luxurious, spacious with a dressing room, separate parlor/sitting room with a scenic view of the pond, and even had access to a private hot tub. They have an exercise room, a home theater room that would put most man caves to shame, vintage arcade games, a pool table, air hockey, darts, fishing poles.. What more could one ask for at a B&B? The innkeepers were extremely friendly and pampered us with a delicious breakfast served anywhere you want. We attended a wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. Not only was the wedding here, but there were many wedding guests who had come here for anniversaries and had nothing but rave reviews. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking and included in the house are individual rooms and our favorite, a game room downstairs (and a small gym, small movie cinema among other things). While we were all roaming through the house most of the time, the event was held in the barn at night. Even though it was 45 degrees outside the barn did stay warm once the doors were shut. The people who worked there were incredibly nice and wanted to make sure that we were all enjoying themselves. I'm not sure if this venue had anything to do with the food, but that was all delicious as well. I hope to come here sometime and stay for a few days, this seems like a great spot for a few days away if you need to relax and wind down from a hectic life. read more

My wife and I decided to take a little valentines getaway. We took advantage of their mid-week special and got a super rate on the Walt Whitman Grande! We should have stayed two nights! The innkeepers were fabulous and the service was perfect! Erin, our massage therapist was very professional and very good at her art! We had a fabulous massage in the streaming light of the afternoon sunlight in the parlor of our suite! The suites exclusive hot tub was just the ticket! Gorgeous bed and breakfast. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Everything was spotless and we felt safe staying there during this COVID 19 pandemic. The staff took extra measures to clean and wear PPE around us. There is so much to do at this B&B. We enjoyed the theater room, game room, pool, hot tub and walking the grounds. We barbecued poolside and played cornhole. There was a cozy fireplace and romantic lighting in our bedroom. It was so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed views from our room as well as the front porch. This place is amazing. My husband and I decided to try out a bed and breakfast for the first time for our second wedding anniversary and we weren't disappointed! We didn't know exactly what to expect but it was above and beyond anything we've experienced before. The property manager Eric was extremely nice and accommodating. When we arrived he gave us a tour of the house and it was spectacular! There are so many amenities that we were sad to only be there for 2 nights. The place is beautiful so just walking around the property was relaxing in and of itself but the rooms are beautiful as well. We stayed in the thoreau room with its own private porch and jacuzzi tub. The bed was EXTREMELY comfortable and the whole house was open for use. Eric was extremely available but not at all bothersome. He cooked is an amazing breakfast 2 days in a row and humored our weird dietary requests (my husband won't eat cheese or veggies mixed in eggs and I won't eat pork or beef) with patience and kindness. It was some of the best breakfast we've had.... my husband was OBSESSED with the coffee glazed bacon that Eric surprised him with on our second morning. We'd also chosen the mimosas in bed package but Eric let us choose where we wanted to have the breakfast and we chose to have it on the private porch. He sat up the most elegant table outside with everything imaginable for breakfast! It was so relaxing to sit in the rocking chairs on the porch and have a 5 star breakfast, French pressed coffee, and mimosas! Our absolute favorite part about Walden Hall though was the clubhouse on the lower floor of the house. There is an amazing game room, pool table, air hockey, gym, basketball hoop, and a fully functional home movie theater with complementary popcorn! We spent both nights down here and had a blast! We can't wait to go back and are already planning to bring our best friends! This place is amazing and I'd be scared to even try another b & b for fear it wouldn't live up to this same experience. Walden Hall B&B is a fantastic getaway! This brand-new family-owned b&b is at the edge of Culpeper County and left my jaw hanging open as soon as I saw it. The house is huge and elegant with 5 available suites, each named and styled after a different poet, plus a salt water swimming pool, private pond, and extensive, beautiful grounds. I stayed in the "Longfellow Loft," which was huge and luxurious! The room was bright and welcoming with a king size bed (with some of the best sheets I've ever slept on) and jacuzzi right next to it! As nice as the room was, my favorite part of the visit was the breakfast! The innkeepers, Eric and Evanne, pull out all the stops (or whatever other relevant cliche fits here) with their attention to detail and general awesomeness. They made frittatas with bacon and lots of fruit on the side, and there is always coffee or tea handy. Pros: everything above, plus: game room, gym,free fast wifi, wine and cheese in the afternoon, super comfy beds, beautiful decor, etc! Cons: I had to leave in the morning :( This place is a hidden gem, and I hope it gets the attention it deserves! read more

This place deserves more than 5 stars. So beautiful that the pictures on the internet do not do justice. I chose it to celebrate our 10th anniversary. The only thing we regret was not having more time to enjoy it. Next time we will book well in advance to make sure we stay at least two nights. David and Julie were not only our hosts, but became friends. They are so lovely and went beyond their way to make us feel special. We were late because of holiday weekend traffic and when we called, David offered to make a reservation for us in the best restaurant in town. When we were ready to order deserts one of the chefs showed up and brought us a beautiful dessert with "Happy Anniversary " written on the plate courtesy of David and Julie, our hosts from Walden Hall. It was such a nice gesture. We were touched. Next day breakfast was done by Eric and it was fabulous. When we checked out, we went to their brewery, Bald Top. I fell in love with their smoked ale. My husband loved their Manor House Ale. There they sat with us a few times sharing with us their passion in life. Love Julie, David, Eric and the Walden House. It is understandable why Walden Hall is the best mid-Atlantic inn for weddings and luxury stays! The setting, decor, service and amenities are superb. We stayed for 4 days in early May 2019 and had a wonderful getaway for our anniversary - this place is great for romantic couples of any age and for families looking for relaxation in the mountains and towns of the Shenandoah. History, hiking, swimming in their heated saltwater pool, eating in Culpeper at fantastic restaurants and staying in late relaxing in the country inn have made Walden Hall our favorite destination to get away from Metro DC. read more

It's hard to put into words how truly beautiful and perfect Walden Hall and Inn Keeper Eric Fulton were for my son's wedding this past weekend. The rooms are exquisite, the location gorgeous and the staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The groomsmen had an absolutely phenomenal time as they leisurely prepared in the downstairs "Club Level Room" several hours before the wedding. A movie theater with JMU football game, darts, pool table and a huge bar made the experience one we will never forget! I can't imagine a more perfect venue for a rehearsal dinner/wedding that served as a comfortable family retreat and relaxing experience for everyone! Beautiful property with versatile accommodations - something for everyone in the family! Great stay for a romantic escape or family getaway. This place is beautiful! As you drive in, the house and grounds are well kept. Then you get in the house! We were given the tour of the rooms and common areas. Every room is well furnished and decorated. We were surprisingly upgraded due to our original room needing a repair. We stayed in the Longfellow Loft. Spacious and quiet. The bed was so comfortable and the linens top notch. And a deep jacuzzi tub right in the room! Windows allow in a bunch of great light and let you look out on three sides of the house and view. The only hiccup we had was fixed quickly. The air conditioning in our room wasn't working correctly. Eric came right up and tried to fix it. When he couldnt, he offered to let us use the room next door as well as our room! We didn't have to, as we just asked for an extra fan and the air came back on shortly after. It was nice that he was willing to let us dirty two rooms so we were comfortable. Great place that we will visit again! read more

We recently stayed at Walden Hall and I must say the pictures are completely accurate. The property and rooms are wonderfully and immaculately kept. Eric has really done a fantastic job of anticipating guests' needs from the insect repellent and sunscreen for the pool (which is warm!) to the smores for the firepit, fishing rods and tackle boxes for the lake. We stayed in the Walt Whitman Suite and it was really, really lovely. The private hot tub/jacuzzi was a treat. Both Eric and Andi made us feel completely welcome and comfortable, they are both sincere and personable. And also (!) the game room! Wish we could have stayed longer to use more of it - the pool table, arcade and movie theater were a dream. Loved the popcorn and drinks to seal the movie vibe. Erik and Evanne are wonderful hosts. We stayed in the luxurious Walt Whitman grande suite and spent the weekend lounging in the beautiful saltwater swimming pool. The bed and linens are top of the line, and the breakfasts on the large front porch were delicious with a gorgeous view.
