Checked in at 9:12. Only had one person working that was handling rentals. Worker stated their only reliable workers come in from 2-10pm

Great shop, with very helpful and friendly staff. Shipped my cell phone to me when I left it in a rental boot (don't ask).

Excellent Service! Reservations were full but they still took the time to put something together for my family.

Freestyle sells gear and clothing for snow sports…read more Every fall at the start of the ski season they have a big swap sale. Over the course of a week, the shop will buy used gear from individuals. That weekend, they will sell the used gear under an outdoor tent. It is possible to get skis with bindings, boots and poles all in used but good condition for under $150. This is a very good price. They charge $30 for calibration. If you leave your skis/snowboard for calibration or a tune-up, you can pick them up in two weeks. You can pay extra for rush service. In terms of new gear, I couldn't find a good helmet on sale. Also, there seemed to be only one cashier for the very long checkout line at the swap sale. The place is way out on Route 29 and therefore not bicycle-accessible. Otherwise, I have no complaints. All the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and patient. They also do season rentals here and at their Wintergreen location. Rentals are about $150 for the season, but why rent when you can buy a better-quality pair to own for the same price? If you're going to the swap, here are some words of advice: 1. Get there early. This year they opened at 9am on Saturday but there were people lining up at 8:15. It's a mad rush when they open the gate. 2. Get your foot measured in advance. That way, you won't waste valuable time getting measured while your competition is snapping up all the good boots. Ski boot sizes, snowboard boot sizes, and regular shoe sizes are all different. 3. If you need boots and skis, head for the boots first. It's important to get the most comfortable boots possible, since you're going to be zooming down mountains in them for hours. 4. Bring cash or check. No cards accepted at the swap. Other than this payment policy, this business is worthy of five stars.

This place on the other hand has a helpful, friendly staff treating pros and noobs equally. Their prices are reasonable. And they have great products. They've got a customer for life.

If you can, rent your skis off the mountain or get the insurance. These shysters will try to cheat…read moreyou otherwise. I rode for a day and a half on nothing but snow and ice. I never took them off course, never did jumps, never went over rocks or sticks. When I returned them, they asked if I bought the insurance and when I said no, they blamed me for two gashes on the skis. If those gashes came from me, then their skis are soft and you shouldn't rent from them anyway. But I'm certain they weren't. There is absolutely nothing I rode over that could have caused that. I should have just walked out but instead paid their ridiculous fee. But lesson learned. Not getting my skis from them again and since they are the main shop in town, I suggest you get your skis out of town (I never had problems with the shop at the bottom of the mountain, but they are connected).

Just rented skis and poles (I have my own boots) for two days and was very happy. I was assisted…read moreby Levi, who was really knowledgeable about the skis and was able to match them to my ability (advanced Intermediate), performance goals (agile in turns but stiff and secure on ice), and the demands of the mountain given current conditions. Not surprisingly, I ended up on their Demo skis (I am very demanding), but those were still cheaper than even the regular sport skis at the Snowshoe rental places -- and significantly cheaper ($17/day) than Demo skis would have been at Snowshoe. They put a fresh coat of wax on them before giving them to me -- a very nice touch (and much appreciated). I recommend reserving your skis 24 hours in advance online to get the 10% discount. Don't worry about which level of ski to rent (regular, sport, or demo) as they will apply the discount to whatever level of ski you end up with. The store is located on the mountain near the Silver Creek ski area which is about 2.6 miles from the main Villiage Ski areas (and where night skiing occurs). We picked up the skis by car when we first arrived the evening before at no extra charge, but it is also accessible via the snowshoe bus. Note: While writing this I read a negative review from last year regarding insurance. I did not get insurance, and noone mentioned anything when I returned the skis with several course-of-skiing gouges/scratches on the bottoms from ice and rocks on the slopes from grooming so perhaps last year was a one-off. You should not have to pay for damage from normal on-piste skiing.
