The Mark Addy has some things to keep in mind. Sure, there were some hiccups during our trip. We rented the Kensington room, but when we arrived we found out that the AC was broken. While we knew the place had some old-time feel to it, there were some things that were a bit unexpected such as the bathroom door not closing and the TV being broken. The thing is that we weren't there to watch TV so that was minor (and clearly can be easily replaced). We found out quickly that when something goes wrong, the team in the Mark Addy will go far out of their way to try to accommodate you to the best of their ability. Without losing a step we were given access to an additional room in the event that we were too warm in the Kensington. We took advantage of that one night, it was not even necessary the second night so it was hardly an issue. In the evenings there was sangria provided, which was not only delicious but a really nice touch. By the second night we were already looking forward to it! What can't be overstated is how delicious the included breakfast is. I honestly was expecting the typical continental type breakfast. I was very mistaken. Their menu is creative, fresh, and absolutely delicious. It was more of a treat than it was just a meal. Overall, the place is an old-ish inn with some character. You're not going to find some modernized place and, yeah there are some quirky things that could be fixed. However, it's a whole FEEL that you get from this place and the view from the front is gorgeous. Add that to the quality of the treatment and food and I think you have a solid winner. Bottle of wine and candy left on the dresser. This B&B is privately owned for 13 years as of this writing. All the staff were very nice and accommodating. Ok, Baby, the parrot(?) wasn't always friendly until you give it a pet on the back of the neck :-) This was my first experience staying at a B&B so be aware some of my comments may not apply to you the reader. My first feeling was a little discomfort about staying in someone's house but the staff make you feel pretty welcomed. Breakfast is served at 9am and is a set menu which is understandable considering there's only 1 or 2 working the kitchen and dining area. Just to give you an idea of the servings, the common theme was a good healthy and hearty breakfast starting with either a fruit bowl or yogurt then a dish with eggs, meat and a carb. The meal always held until around 2pm or so. And in the evening there was always a plate of chocolate chip and white chocolate chip cookies along with a pitcher of some good sangria in the fridge in the common area kitchen. The room was very comfortable with a small flat screen TV and a couple of chairs in addition to the comfortable bed. The bathroom in the room was on the small side but very usable. Although the place is just off the main highway leading into Nellysford, it was over 30 mins from the big city in Charlottesville, so your choices for lunch and dinner were limited unless you went to the big city. If winery/meadery/distillery/brewery/cidery tours is your thing, they have plenty close by. I would recommend a stop at Hill Top winery/meadery just up the road. Overall, I would definitely recommend it. And if you decide to stay, give Baby a pet on the back of the neck and say "hey!" Just don't stick your finger in too quick or it may not come back to you! :-) read more

Just okay. My husband and I stayed here in February when we went to Wintergreen to go skiing. We were assigned to the Sundance room, which was decorated in Native American decor. As we were being checked in, the owner told us the room is the warmest one in the house. We had no idea until we tried to sleep. The room was scorching hot. It was 20 or so degrees outside and my husband and I had to open both windows because it was stifling. That wasn't enough to make it comfortable...it was still way too warm. On top of the tacky decor and hot room, the mattress was worn and dipped in the center. All night long my husband and I found ourselves rolling to the center of the bed. Needless to say, what was supposed to be a restful and fun weekend was miserable. to add insult to injury, the room cost approximately $200 for a night. We also ate dinner there...it was okay. I had a salad that ended up being potato salad, filet that had waaaay too much garlic. Husband had a fish dish. It was okay...needed seasoning. Total for the meal and a night's stay was about $340. Not worth it. Won't stay here ever again. read more

I recently stayed in the Mimosa room at The Mark Addy for a weekend while visiting the area. What initially drew me here was the beautiful mountain scenery and history behind the mansion (it belonged to Thomas Jefferson's Physician!) Upon arriving I was greeted by the owner Leslie who showed me to my room. The decor and layout did not disappoint! It was as if I was going back in time! Once in the room Leslie pointed out a coupon book for all the local businesses which I was already planning on visiting so that was a huge plus. Once I got settled in I spent a few minutes reading through a guest log in the room with written experiences from guests before me. I of course added to it on my final night. In my room was a clawfoot bathtub along with a pair of bathrobes and bottle of wine (upon request). The bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned and organized in between nights. Breakfast was better than one could get at a renown country club and the quality was such that would make even the most hardcore Whole Foods shopper drool with envy. As an advocate for farm to table practices I was very pleased, especially considering how close they are to various farms. A recent reintroduction of their restaurant held in the "fountain room" of the mansion was a delightful coincidence since I didn't know about it when I booked the room initially. The young eccentric chef Andrew prepared a three course meal for us that tops any other restaurant in the area (sorry Blue Mountain Brewery). The intimate setting of the dining room with window views overlooking the sun setting over the Blue Ridge Mountains as my beloved and I shared a world class meal is apparently open to anyone even if they aren't staying, so beyond my recommendation on staying at The Mark Addy I IMPLORE you to make a reservation for a night of fine dining at The Fountain Room within the mansion. I won't waste words describing the overall scenery and atmosphere at The Mark Addy because they wouldn't even scrape the surface. Take my word for it - you HAVE to experience it yourself. It's no surprise that they have a high demand for smaller, more intimate weddings held here every year....can't wait to go back! read more

We had a wonderful stay at the Mark Addy Inn in the Schloss room over an August weekend. Booking was fast and easy with their online reservation tools. The house and the grounds are lovely, set off just enough from the road to have privacy while being close enough for easy access to all that Nelson County has to offer. The Schloss room is pet-friendly but still clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. The host couple are wonderful and balance each other out perfectly -- Rafael with his dry sense of humor, and Leslie with her kind and compassionate care for her guests. They are very up front about the house rules and how things work, so there were no surprises when we arrived. They welcomed not only us but our cat in to their Inn with open arms. We spent both evenings enjoying their company over some wine and great conversation, but then in the mornings they were still up and ready with coffee and beautiful breakfasts for us to enjoy. They were even more than happy to accommodate my vegetarian diet with nothing more than a quick note at registration. In short, we had a spectacular stay and were only sad to be leaving. We are looking forward to planning another trip to visit the Mark Addy in the coming year so that we can enjoy their company and all that the area has to offer. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Mark Addy for a romantic weekend getaway after a long overseas deployment. Leslie and Rafi were amazing hosts, and they made us feel right at home. Our room was very comfortable, and had amazing views of the sunset and mountains. The King bed in the Kensington suite was amazingly comfortable. The location of the Inn is perfect. It is only a couple of miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and central to many wineries, breweries, markets, and the city of Charlottesville. We loved it because you could relax at the Inn all day and enjoy the solitude and views, or drive 30 minutes into town and enjoy great restaurants, bars, clubs, and live music. We will definitely be back soon. One note, if you need a place where the inn keepers wait on you hand and foot, the Mark Addy isn't for you. Leslie and Rafi treat you as one of their own, and will certainly help and take care of any issues you have, but they mostly just leave you to yourself to enjoy the Inn and countryside. read more

We wanted to get away from DC decided to drive to Charlottesville VA for the weekend, however we had a hard time finding a B&B at the last moment. Mark Addy was highlighted as the B&B of the month we called and apparently someone cancelled so we got a room. It was a nice relaxing drive to Nellysford we left pretty late arrived at the B&B at night but there was still light out. The outside of the B&B was charming, somewhat well-maintained the water fountain was definitely a focal point. The house itself was also charming from the outside but once inside it reminded me of Tabard Inn or the O-Mansion with creaky floors, outdated and eccentric with all kinds of things hanging on the walls. I did not quite get why people are into the charm of such places anyway. There was a small dining room on the left and the owner was serving food so we waited for some time to get her attention. We received our key to the "Rue de Monet" room it was yellow and springy the room was made up nicely. The bathroom was a shoebox but good enough. There were lots of insects (moths and bugs) flying in the room itself which I was not thrilled. We sat on their patio for a few hours ordered a bottle of red wine. It was $29 and we gave them $40 but no change was ever returned to us. That was strange that they expected people to tip them all the change without asking. One thing we loved about the place was the serenity and the view of the mountain range right in front of us. It was worth a visit to the valley area. Earlier in the night, we were laying in the bed my bf said it was strange but I didnt think much about it but at night we were sleeping I realized we were sinking into the headboard so in the middle of the night from tossing and turning we unanimously switched over to the foot of the bed. The little old air-condition unit was another minus it was as loud as a lawn mower. The breakfast was a scheduled one at 9 AM, we got up just in time for it there was some fruit salad with yogurt that was made well before breakfast it was mushy. The croissant was okay. The main breakfast course was some toaster oven waffles with berry sauce and a couple strips of bacon or you could opt for a frittata type dish. Our breakfast was served on mismatch old plates and mine had a piece that broke off. We took a walk in the back the other owner who was also the chef of the dining room had an amazing vegetable garden and he raised his own chickens. Overall, if you could overlook the issues you would enjoy the place. There were many things that needed improvements. As for the room rate, I just could not see a justification for it. However Leslie was a very sweet and nice lady she made us feel at home and provided good hospitality. read more

My husband and I stayed here on a recent venture to the Virginia wine region. We arrived late on Friday after the official arrival time. They had requested that we let them know if we were going to arrive after 7, and because we did, they left us some personalized instructions about how to get to our room and where we could find things in the inn. We stayed in the Kensington room. The bed was incredibly comfortable! Nice linens and a very well-kept mattress. The bathroom was quaint, and it was little disconcerting to have the floor sag ever so slightly when moving around. I'm hoping it's reinforced, since they do have a jacuzzi tub in that bathroom. We selected that rooms specifically for the jacuzzi tub and the view of the mountains out the front windows. The advertised sunset view was unfortunately hampered by a cloudy overcast evening on Saturday. Also, it seems like the tub could probably afford to have had the jets cleaned - when we started the jets, there was a repulsive smell that did not dissipate, unfortunately. The breakfast was very nice, served in three courses. It started with fruit, continued with pastries, and concluded with the entree. The first day, the egg dish was a little extra crisp on the bottom, but was edible. They served watermelon, and the pastry options included fresh, warm, buttery croissants and a heavenly apple muffin. The second day, there was a banana bread option to accompany the croissants and the muffin options. The quiche on the second day was much more nicely done, and the fruit was very interesting: cooked grapefruit. I would never have considered cooking a grapefruit, but it made it much easier to extract and eat. We purchased the Wine Lovers' Scavenger Hunt offered by the inn, and we very much enjoyed our hunt. On Friday night when we arrived, the clue sheet was waiting for us in our room, and we started poring over a map and getting to know the area. We set up our plan of how to start for the day, and we did find all the clues! We're hoping the prize is transferable, since we may not get out to the area to use it (I won't spoil the surprise of the reward for doing the hunt, in case you want to try it!), but we have plenty of friends and/or family that might be interested. It was a nice place to stay, close to the Nelson 151 wineries, breweries and cideries. We probably won't head back because we've drained that activities of the area, and if we head back out to wine country, we'll want to try different wineries. I highly recommend that place, and would definitely go back if there was more to do in the area! read more

The Mark Addy Inn is a cute little B&B located in Nellysford, slightly southwest of Charlottesville, and surrounded by wineries. We found it through a LivingSocial Escape package (like many others, we learned!), and were very happy with our mini vacation there. Leslie (who owns the inn with her husband) was an incredibly welcoming and friendly hostess. However, this inn isn't the Ritz, and if that's what you're looking for you will be disappointed. The rooms are well-kept and clean, with comfortable beds and themed decor (we chose the "English Manor" Kensington). A kitchen and parlor room are available for guests to use, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is served at 9 am. The menu included griddled grapefruit, eggs benedict, fruit salad, and quiche during our stay. While neither of our meals were spectacular, they were good and filling for our full day of wine tasting. If we had been paying the full rate (up to $200+/night), I'd have been a little disappointed in the quality of the meals, but it was also complemented by such excellent service that it was a minor detraction to us. We would definitely return if we could snag another discounted rate. The regular room rates are akin to 5-star hotel prices, and the Mark Addy (in our opinion) isn't quite on par with a high-end hotel experience. read more

Me and the wife stayed here last fall on a Sunday and Monday night through a living social deal. The home would be great with some TLC, it seems like the owners jumped into the idea of owning a BnB but not the up keep of an old farm house. The woman who owned it was very nice and happy to answer any questions. The breakfast seemed like Costco style frozen items such as rolls and muffins, we had hoped for a more home feel to the place. The location was great for wineries and breweries as well as wintergreen resort. Overall I give 2 stars to the mark addy itself but a third due to its location. We loved our stay at the Mark Addy Inn! The inn is beautiful and really well managed. Leslie and Rafi take extremely great care of their guests, providing kind, attentive service to guests' needs and wants. The Inn itself is lovely with a picturesque fountain and garden in the front and a huge patio with comfy outdoor furniture to have a coffee and enjoy the stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountain range. Inside, the rooms are warm with carefully placed personal touches and luxurious fixtures. We stayed in Mimosa, which has a claw-foot tub in the bathroom, an extremely comfortable queen size bed, and an updated AC unit, which kept the room freezing (like we like :D). We slept really well, to say the least. The breakfast was one of the best parts - served at 9:00am sharp, the offerings included a yogurt parfait with fresh fruit, baked goods, freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee, and a perfect portion of delicious breakfast foods. The first morning we had eggs benedict with ham, asparagus, and a side of fruit. The second morning was a vegetable quiche / frittata with sliced sausage in a light, delicious sauce and a side of fruit. Our only regret is not trying the dinner options - but alas- something to look forward to next time. The inn is close to a number of breweries, wineries, and cideries (including Bold Rock!), and is about a 30 minute drive from Charlottesville. Leslie provided us a great itinerary for a fantastic drive down Route 151 and the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway, which was extremely helpful as there is limited to no service for AT&T users in this area. Overall, the experience was a perfect romantic getaway and I strongly recommend the inn for anyone looking to relax, enjoy great service and the great outdoors (or just drink lots of cider). read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Mark Addy during the week as part of a LivingSocial wine tasting getaway package. We both enjoyed it very much. The building is a little old, which is what you should expect if you're familliar with the B&B experience, but perfectly charming. Our room (Sundance) was Native American themed, which I was afraid would be tacky, but to my delight, was done very tastefully. It wasn't gaudy at all and was very relaxing. It reminded me of that special guest room my grandparents used to have set up at their house "just for me" when I was a kid. It was the pet-friendly room and I was afraid it would smell like such but it was very nice and fresh and there was no trace that any pet had ever been there. Everything was clean and well-kept. The grounds were beautiful and we took the owner Leslie up on her offer of exploring the property a little bit. The views are very nice. Breakfast both mornings we stayed there was wonderful. Each morning we arrived to orange juice, fresh coffee, fruit, and a selection of bread and muffins. The main dish one morning was a quiche with bacon and the next morning a potato and egg dish with sausage, both were delicious and the perfect start to a day of wine tasting! We were informed that many of the items on our plate came fresh from the grounds, including eggs from the "girls" out back and veggies from the greenhouse. I don't know if this happens every day, but a man came in to play piano for us every morning while we were eating breakfast, which took the experience to another level of relaxation. (Please tip him!) The location of the Mark Addy is perfect for what we were there to do - wine tasting. It is very close to the whole Charlottesville area wine scene, the most convinient wineries being Afton Mountain, Veritas, Hilltop Berry, Cardinal Point, Flying Fox, Pollack, and Wintergreen. It's also conviniently close to at least 3 breweries: Devils Backbone, Wild Wolf, and Blue Mountain were the ones we kept passing. We tried both Devils Backbone and Wild wolf which were both fun and unexpected additions to the wine tour. The Mark Addy is also fairly close to some restaurants although it's mostly Pub-style fare. All 3 breweries I mentioned above have restaurants. There are also a couple of other good places right along the main road and of course the option to dine in at the B&B. All in all, I really liked this place and would definitely recommend it to anyone needing a peaceful getaway. The service was wonderful and you can tell that the owners put a lot of thought and love into the place and truly care that the customers are happy. read more

The wooooonderful food surprised us, and it was an overall wonderful experience. Cons: (squeaky and rustic floors, not completely sound proof.) Ok, seriously, these are not even Cons for us, but simply something to watch out for really picky customers. The squeaky wooden floors actually set a homey atmosphere, and with a wooden house like this, you're bound to hear some people walking up and down the stairs, but the patrons are usually very very quiet and pleasant, so we're really just nit picking. Recommendation: Come here for not just a place to stay. Come here to get pampered and eat a wonderful meal. read more

This place is a pretty good value and parts of the place, such as the grounds, are quite lovely and well-maintained. The structure itself and some of the furnishings are also quite nice. I was traveling alone and my room was small but attractive, with sumptuous sheets on the bed and wonderful towels and a terry cloth robe. The owner was also quite accommodating to my needs and it served my needs well during a conference I was attending for a few days. The downside is that I would not describe it as very well maintained. The room's rug was worn and discolored. The bathroom, while clean, had gaps and cracks in the attractive floor tile and a prior repair of the shower had been shoddily effected. Be forewarned: this place has one of the LEAST liberal cancellation policies I'm aware of. Once they have your money, you're unlikely to get it back. read more

What a great find near Charlottesburg! Leslie accommodated us for a last-minute reservation and made every effort to ensure that our room was ready and clean for our 8pm arrival. We stayed in the Sundance room, which contained a fascinating collection of native american-themed books and artifacts throughout the room, as well as a private porch overlooking the property. The building overall could use a little TLC, but this is part of the charm of choosing to stay in a historic inn. We appreciated the graciousness of the hosts and enjoyed conversations with them and fellow guests. The 3-course breakfast was delicious and very filling. We would definitely return if we come back to the area. I wish that we could've stayed longer if only to sit on the front porch with a book and drink in my hand to enjoy the spectacular view of the mountains! read more

We stayed at the Mark Addy over the Independence Day holiday. The building is older and as a result has some electrical issues, but nothing that would be unexpected or unreasonable. For instance, the lights would flicker and you had to turn off the in-room air conditioner if you wanted to use the hairdryer. None of these issues were enough to make the stay less than enjoyable. (NOTE: Some of the electrical problems may have been the result of the strong storms that had blown through a few days before and may not be indicative of normal functioning. There was still a great deal of storm damage throughout the area during our stay.) Our room was, nevertheless, quite nice. The furnishings are older, but very well maintained. Our bed slept incredibly well. We had access to the eastern verandah which didn't have the greatest views but was peaceful and calming. I didn't care much for the air conditioner which was large and sat on the floor of the room. One of the nicer features was the well water which was cool, clean, and without the chlorine taste of city systems. Both breakfasts consisted of fruit which was fairly fresh, a pastry, and quiche with either sausage or bacon. The quiche was particularly good, being made with eggs from the chickens they keep in the garden. While the other foods could have used a little work, none of it was off-putting. I did notice that they made arrangements for a couple of guests who were vegetarians. The owners are a friendly couple and open with all their guests, which is very important for a B&B. Their dog is sort-of friendly (he's old and hard of hearing, so he seems to ignore you) and their parrot is pretty to look at (but not friendly if you're male). We both enjoyed the Mark Addy and will probably stay there again before too much longer. read more

The Mark Addy Inn could and would be absolutely fabulous with some TLC and serious work on attention to detail from the staff. I booked 2 deluxe rooms with Living Social-one for myself and one for my parents as a gift for my mother's birthday. After our stay, I'm embarrassed that this was a gift for her. I'd read the reviews and decided that the good far outweighed the bad and although I wasn't expecting the Buckingham Palace, I definitely wasn't expecting what we received at the Mark Addy. The Bed: The deluxe rooms were as advertised; decent sized, full of character and with large baths. The problems were with the basic necessities. The mattresses were very well worn and in need of replacement. Same for the bed and bath linens: my parents' sheets in the Le Jardin room were stained badly. (Have pictures which I will forward to the Innkeepers) All of the towels were dingy and smelled moldy. Showering in the claw foot tub in the Le Jardin room was less than pleasant for anyone desiring to actually come away with clean hair. The common areas were pleasant as long as you don't mind animals roaming about. I'm an animal lover and loved meeting Tiger, but would have preferred that she not walk on the set dining tables. My mother is allergic to cats and wasn't thrilled when the cat wandered into her room. The kitchen area for guests was useful, although in need simple upgrades. Only a 12 cup coffee pot for an inn with 10 guest rooms? There was coffee shortage on both days of our stay. Some of the other guests left the Inn to buy coffee from the local gas station. The staffer on duty was truly surprised when the supply was gone after 10 minutes. The game room behind the main house was great, but was occupied by friends of the staff who were smoking heavily inside while playing pool so we stayed away. I'm aware that this is an old property and quirky things will happen with hot water, climate control etc... but the basic essentials were plain crummy. The Breakfast: The food was decent but meager. A far cry from the GOURMET breakfast as promised on the website. I was extremely taken back upon being offered only half of a store purchased muffin or croissant as part of the breakfast on both days during our stay. I was so shocked that I snapped a picture. (I will also forward to the Innkeepers). I know that times are tough - but really - I paid for a dining experience and was not expecting bread rations. The quiche was OK and the Mediterranean dish served on the 2nd day was interesting but good. I'm always happy to try new things, but noticed that several of the other guests were not pleased. I felt as though the food was simply an afterthought for the staff that had been out partying the night previously. My parents were unable to stay for breakfast on the second day and were promised a take away fruit plate to be left out for them, no surprise that there was no such plate prepared for their departure. Although the staff during my stay was friendly and kind to us, I believe that our experience might have been a bit different (at least with the dining) had the Innkeepers been on duty or had invested in professional staff to assist while they were away. I felt like there was a tip jar or envelope in every room. Is this normal? What we received was nothing like the quaint and charming experience that we were expecting per the website and per the glorious sales pitch from Living Social. What we received was hostel level service at best and amenities for a 3-4 star price. This is such a beautiful old property and could be such a fabulous inn. It's a pity when people don't take pride in what they have to offer. read more

What a nice visit! Lovely room and and truly amazing breakfast. Wonderful location for visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway and many local wineries, breweries and distilleries. Enjoyed sipping complimentary sangria on the porch while enjoying the gorgeous view. My only disappointment was we were not able to experience dinner at the Mark Addy. I will make sure the next time we visit , we are sure to do so. read more

Sadly, we did not enjoy this B&B as much as many of the reviewers here have. Perhaps it was because we had stayed at other B&Bs along our road trip which were much nicer. Or perhaps it was because the weather wasn't so great, so we couldn't enjoy the grounds, which other reviewers claim are beautiful. For us, this was average, and if it weren't so expensive, we might have enjoyed it more. (It was Hilton priced, with a Holiday Inn stay.) The bed was old and very used -- super uncomfortable. It was so bad that we would have asked to change rooms, but we knew they were sold out. The food seemed mostly prepared (Costco muffins and the like). We did not have a warm welcome, but then, we didn't interact much with the owners. People congregate outside (I think mostly family) and smoke (right into the air vents and windows) so it's not a clean-living kinda place. Maybe this bothered me more than it would other people because I had quit smoking a few months prior, and really really hate the smell of smoke now (you know... one of those ex-smokers!). The house has a *very* home-like feel, which I think appeals to many people. And the location is incredible. read more

I am not, ordinarily, very good at relaxing. My attention span wanders, and I get antsy. That said, I stayed for two nights at the Mark Addy Inn this spring, and I had one of the most truly relaxing and enjoyable weekends I've had in years. I fell in love with the historic building, the lovely views, and delicious food. I started each day with (excellent!) coffee on the porch, taking in the breathtaking view of the mountains. Leslie and Rafi made me feel completely at home, and provided everything I could have asked for, including great conversation. read more

We stayed at the Mark Addy on a Living Social deal which reduced the nighly stay by 50%, included a $75 savings on a couples in-room massage and provided 4 coupons for local wineries/breweries. The room was large and clean, the bed was good size and relatively comfortable, there was a sleeper sofa in the room, nice robes were provided, and the breakfast was good (though many items served appeared to be from Costco). The ladies who gave our in-rooom massages were outstanding and the B&B location is excellent for visiting wineries, breweries, Wintergreen Ski Resort and the Blue Ridge Mtns. The current owners bought the property relatively recently and it doesn't appear they have made many improvements or repairs to the building (to include much needed exterior painting) and many features you would expect at a B&B of this price (like nice toiletries, room quietness (floors very noisy, especially during our massages), staff accommodations to guest requests, new fixtures (like shower head), etc.) don't exist. It was very annoying that the screen door had to be manually pulled closed even though it could be fixed with a minor adjustment. Also, the parking lot is gravel which makes pulling suitcases difficult, especially when it's wet or there is snow. Lastly, one of the brewery certificates (Devil's Backbone) provided was no longer being honored as of the 1st of January which ended up being an issue with the staff at the brewery when we paid our bill (the brewery claimed they had informed The Mark Addy Staff of the change). Overall, though, I would have been very upset to pay full price ($275 a night), for this B&B, so I only gave it an A-OK. I would not come back and recommend other travellers look elsewhere if they're considering spending $275 a night on accommodations...in my opinion, this B&B isn't worth more than $150 a night. read more

*everything balances out* I find the average rating of this establishment on yelp to be accurate (3 and half stars, 4 stars to be generous). I wanted to stay in a nice big suite with jacuzzi and fireplace with hubby and also bring our little dog along after a huge milestone in my life and this was exactly what the doctor ordered. It's not exactly the newest facility like the other commenters have stated but I think what they are going for here is country rustic. They do have their own chicken coop in the back. Three little adorable dogs ran around the premises. Their little teacup chihuahua really took to ours and always showed up whenever we went on walks. We went there midweek and stayed in the tiger lily room on a living social voucher. On the first day, we lucked out and were the only guests and were served a very generous gourmet breakfast by Jacob, the innkeeper's son because his parents were away. Jacob seems to be a very cool hardworking young man if he is of any reflection of his parents.... The breakfast dining room is the best part of the inn in my opinion and has a very country provincial feel with a beautiful green stain class window. The breakfast on the first morning defied all expectation: homemade fruit parfait, ample helpings of croissants and muffins, and then homemade french toast with blackberries, potatoes, and sausage. Breakfast the next morning was not as generous (...I do not know whether it was because there was another couple there or because there had been a blackout that last evening due to a storm) although it was still decent but nothing compared to the EPIC first morning. I also want to say that the whirlpool tub (70's black and white tile and grimey jets) and fake fireplace and robes were dated and worn but did the trick. TIP: BYOB. We also ended up at the wildwolf brewery and used a generous coupon provided to us in the room and had a great time! Lastly, the living social deal came with a $75 credit for an in-room couple's massage which was priced at $250...which I found to be egregiously overpriced even with the discount; my husband and I get massages regularly and do not pay nearly that much for better. Don't get me wrong, the massages were good but certainly not $250 or even $175 good. I'm curious as to how much of a cut the inn takes since they pay them on our behalf. I found the living social voucher price paid to be good ($275 for 2 nights) and would go back if they ran another special or maybe stay in a cheaper room at the regular price since they are pet friendly. Their pet rates are cheaper than most places since they charge per size of pet per stay as opposed to per day. But the $75 dollar massage credit was just a gimmick to get you to book overpriced massages. read more

My sweetheart and I stayed at The Mark Addy for a long weekend. The location was easy to find and near to hikes, wineries, and breweries. We really enjoyed our stay. For starters you can't beat the view. It overlooks some nice mountains which its great to take in as you have your morning cup of coffee. We stayed at the Mimosa and our room was nice and cozy. It's near the back which was great because we had easy access to the hammocks outside. The food was good. One morning we had eggs benedict which I didn't expect seeing how difficult poaching eggs can be. There were croissants, muffins, and coffee cake in the morning to go with your breakfast. There was even a fruit starter. I really liked the cookies and sangria that was available all day too. The service was great. Leslie was very hospitable. I felt comfortable to asking her about anything. She even provided us with her cell in case we needed her anytime during our stay. We had good time and we will definitely be back again. read more

This was the first time I stayed at a bed and breakfast and it was a great experience. Much more personable than a standard hotel room. The Inn is located off of 151 and is about 10 minutes from breweries, wineries, cideries, hiking trails, a distillery, and probably a few other things I am forgetting to mention. We stayed in the Sundance room which opens up to a small patio and a big yard. The sun sets on this side and offers a good view between the mountains. We sipped on complimentary Sangria the night we arrived. The next day we woke up and sipped on coffee and talked to some other guests until breakfast was served at 9. The breakfast was a 3 course meal with muffins or croissants, fruit salad, and the main course. The main course was scrambled eggs, two strips of bacon and some kind of delicious grits combination with cheese, onions, and maybe a few other things (I should have asked so that I can try to make it). We only stayed the one night. We packed up and visited Crabtree Falls and the local breweries before heading home. I am looking forward to visiting the Inn again and making my way to more of what the area has to offer. read more

My wife & I recently enjoyed a weekday get away at the Mark Addy. We had a fabulous time. Our room was comfortable and cozy. We scheduled a "Pub Crawl" for our first night. The Mark Addy provided coupons / vouchers for 2 of the breweries we visited. It was also nice to see that 15% of our Pub Crawl tour went to support local youth programs. Every morning before breakfast we drank our coffee on the porch gazing out on the beautiful mountain scenery. The only meals we had at the Mark Addy were breakfast. Both days it was scrumptious. The location of the Inn in on Nelson 151 surrounded by several wineries, breweries, and a cider press; this made our day trips easy to plan. read more

What a fantastic time we had at the Mark Addy! My wife and I went away just to get away for two days and one night and were treated wonderfully! The Tigerlily room was amazing. tl;dr: A nice B&B with a serious caveat... **EDIT: I posted the same review on trip advisor, and received a response from the owner, and have updated this review to include the screenshots of his comments.** The Mark Addy is a charming old farmhouse in a gorgeous rural setting. My husband and I stayed in the Monet room this past weekend, which had a lovely view of the back garden and one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in! Conveniently located near our planned activities (wineries, trail rides), they also offer plenty of comfortable seating on the porch to enjoy a glass of complementary sangria and read a book. As previous commenters have mentioned, they have dogs, which were adorable and well behaved. All but one of the staff were courteous, kind, professional, and thoughtful. However, Rafael kept seeking us out and saying inappropriate and sexist things to us. We were polite, but after the first night did our best to ignore and avoid him, hoping he would let us enjoy the relaxing environment in peace. The worst was yesterday during breakfast. He was giving me a hard time about my food allergy when he turned to my husband and said, "You know how to cure this? Punch her right in the face." We will not be returning as I do not feel safe there. read more

This was one of the most comfortable and relaxing stays I've ever had. I really enjoyed meeting and spending time with Rafael and Leslie, and the food was amazing! If I were able to afford it, I would aim to come more often than once a year. This was such a comfortable and relaxing stay with complementary wine and gorgeous views. The owners and staff are wonderful people to meet and the food for breakfast and dinner here is outstanding. Hiking with great views of the surrounding mountains and waterfalls are within 30-minutes driving distance as well as some great places to eat. I will definitely come here again! read more
