Our view from bed. Unforgettable and stunning!!!!!!

Perfection!!! Everything from the check in process to the checkout was perfect! The owners are amazing people and so friendly and personable. The property is simply beautiful and so well thought out and the architecture reminiscent of Bavaria. We only had a short stay but will GLADLY drive the 6+ hours again to stay here and the Swallow's nest room was the most beautiful room I've stayed in with a very comfy bed and HUGE shower!! Can't say enough about this place and we will be back!!! Thank you Will and Lilia for creating this piece of heaven

What an amazing find!!! Lilia and Will make you feel welcome immediately with their personal touches and hospitality. From the carved wood doors to the homemade granola, they make sure you feel at home. The views are amazing as the inn is perched atop a mountainside. You can enjoy those views from the breakfast room, hot tub, or even your bedroom depending on which room you stay in. I hadn't stayed in a bed and breakfast before and was a little nervous I'd have to make small talk with a bunch of strangers and not feel a sense of quiet or privacy. I was wrong. Although there were two other parties staying in the inn, we didn't see them much. This could be because the location of the inn is close to many wineries, breweries, etc. that you can easily find something to do around, or because the rooms are so nice you can easily just stay in and relax! We didn't take advantage of the additional add ons to our stay, but the inn offers viewings in the movie room, a small gym, or a massage/couples massage. Will and Lilia will make accommodations to any dietary needs and food is made with natural sweeteners (like bananas in the Belgium waffles!) Their website with details of accommodations, prices, packages, images of the inn are extremely accurate and not simply good photography. Lilia and Will make it a point to market a true and beautiful experience. We will definitely be back!

The Fenton Inn is a beautiful inn. My husband and I enjoyed our birthday weekend. Breakfast in bed was made to order. The food was good. The inn was very clean! We had dinner at the Devil's Brewery. Which is also nice. It was a very nice weekend in the mountains.

This inn is truly unique, especially for this area. Having just been to Germany in April, the first thing that crossed my mind as a I walked through the place was this looked very much like I was walking through the streets of Munich. We stayed in the Captain's quarters which had great views of the surrounding woods, although it was a bit foggy and we really couldn't see too much, but had the fog not been there, I am confident, the views would have been amazing. So the inn itself is actually set up like a small village. You enter through what looks and feels like the back of the inn. It looks like a construction zone and to be honest, isn't the most inviting because we couldn't really tell whether we were in the right place and it didn't look like it was open. As you go into the inn, you immediately pick up that European feel and you can easily tell that a lot of work went into the details. The lobby is all wood with a fireplace, some chairs, coffee maker, microwave, etc. The Captain's Quarters was small and quaint with lots of smaller windows, one of which looked like it faced directly into the lobby, but that was easily solved by closing the blinds. The bed was very comfortable and they had Dish service with plenty of channels (unlike hotels that only a series of crappy channels). The bathroom was really nice and large and had everything we needed. The climate controls weren't centralized and the remote control was confusing and I probably could have used a quick lesson on how to use it, but it wasn't too cold or hot, so I guess I figured it out okay. Once out of the room, it's kind of like you're in a castle, the lobby is to the right, more rooms down the hall to the left. Go down some stairs and there is a dining room where they serve the breakfast (which is really good...especially the homemade granola), there is a theater room that had some couches, blankets, stuff like that, and a modestly furnished gym. All in all, I liked the place and wish we could have stayed a bit longer, but the lack of cell service made me feel as if I was cut off from the outside world. They do have WiFi, but it's unsecured and a bit spotty and I had quite a few problems connecting and stating connected. The hosts were definitely hospitable and friendly, so all things considered, I'd definitely go back.

The husband-and-wife owners, along with their four wonderful boys, are building such a special place here. The property is absolutely stunning: an amazing barn that's ready to host weddings, a sparkling pond with a fountain and gazebo, a vineyard right on-site, a beautiful swimming pool, a cozy fire pit, and breathtaking mountain views in every direction. There's so much to do--wineries, breweries, and incredible restaurants are just 15 to 20 minutes away in any direction, along with antique shops to explore. Or you can stay put and relax: enjoy a private breakfast on the front porch, book an in-room massage, or have a romantic dinner under the old oak tree in the backyard. And the breakfast? Out of this world. The wife is an incredible cook--you'll wake up to something better than you could imagine every morning. Whether you're looking for a quiet escape, planning a wedding, or just want to enjoy Virginia wine country, The Orchard House B&B is absolute perfection. Highly recommend!

It feels like extended family. This is our second stay ( we knew we had to return again after our first visit) and it was just as amazing as the first visit. I recommend this place if you're looking to disconnect from mainstream life, and media and enjoy a quiet respite. My daughter and I enjoyed walks to pet horses, dogs, and cats around the property. We cannot wait to come back again.

The rooms are modern and the beds are really comfortable, and Deanie and Laura's breakfast is indulgently great. Now to the farm's semi-secret identity: it also happens to be a playground for adventure motorcycling! Don't worry, it's still QUIET near the lodge and the pool area (not a lot of loud Harleys here!) but if you're interested or just getting into the sport, this is the place to be. Blair is an outstanding coach and will teach you whatever you need to know about riding off roads (and will help you properly configure your bike to boot!) and there are miles of perfect trails through the woods to explore right on the property. If you're considering your first BDR, I'd HIGHLY recommend a few days with Blair and Laura at Penmerryl first--they'll get you ready to go. (They'll also point you to the local riding trails). I'm a little worried about this place taking off, but I couldn't help but share. If you come, you'll be hooked.

It was super clean, with a nice, cozy bed and comfortable, bougie amenities, including the shower you'd see at the St. Regis (open shower with a rain showerhead and sprayer). The private hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains is gorgeous. I watched the sunset from my deck. I also discovered there's a washer/dryer in there in addition to a microwave and a fridge. So it's like a bougie version of a Residence Inn. Also, since I'm in my own cabin, I didn't hear anything from the outside unless I was outside. The property is beautiful. It has some small on-site hiking trails that take about 20-30 minutes. The clubhouse has an AMAZING chef-cooked breakfast in the morning that's included in your stay rate, and the on-site manager is so nice. They also put sparkling water and Fiji water in your fridge for free. You're also near the cute town of Staunton, which has gift shops, glass art (and glassblowing if you want to try), a historic railway, a high point city view (Sears Bridge), book shops, and restaurants/cafes. It's good to spend a few hours. There's no dinner on-site at the inn, but I went to the nearby Blue Mountain Brewery, which gets very popular. I hope you have a wonderful time here, and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Buyer beware - sharp business practices…read more My wife and I booked the Iris Inn for two nights through Expedia. The Inn's listing on Expedia said it was "dog friendly." Great, right? Not really. The Inn sent a message through Expedia saying that the room I booked didn't accommodate pets, but that they had more expensive rooms that did and would I want to switch to one of those rooms? Ok, I get it. Bait and switch. The problem is, the message went right to my spam folder. Never had a chance to see it and I never responded. That's where it was left for over two months until "Linda" called me up several weeks before the reservation - ostensibly to ask for a credit card for incidentals. I have the voicemail. I thought this was a bit unusual, asking for a credit card weeks beforehand for incidentals. In her voicemail she never mentioned anything about the pet issue, and she never mentioned anything it when I calked her back and spoke to her. Why? She knew I had not replied to her Expedia message. Why didn't she mention it? Why not "by the way, did you see the message we sent?" And she obviously had my phone number - she called me - why didn't she follow up that Expedia message with a simple phone call? The day of check-in I searched my email for the check-in instructions and only then did I see the Expedia message about the room I booked not accepting pets. I called in a panic. Linda explains their pet friendly rooms are sold out. So there I am, hours from home, with my dog, and nowhere to stay. And so I was forced to cancel the reservation, and Linda and the Iris Inn gladly took the $846 for the forced cancellation. That's almost a grand down the drain. For the love of God all she needed to do was SAY SOMETHING. So as you're thinking about where to spend your money, remember my experience. I'm just a normal person that lost $846 to this place when all they needed to do was say something about pets in the room I booked when they had me on the phone weeks before my booking. This is the kind of place the Iris Inn is. This is the kind of person "Linda the innkeeper" is. You have a choice to reward good behavior with your dollars or bad. It's your choice.
