We've enjoyed the seared scallops in a bacon cream sauce as our appetizer more than once.

Striking mountain views over lovely grounds and pond. There is a fixed price, three course menu offering four or five choices for each. The staff is accommodating and efficient. Call ahead.

If you are looking for the perfect wedding venue, look no further! The fine folks at House Mountain Inn leave no detail untouched. Carrie and her team of wonderful staff work to ensure your wedding goes smoothly from start to finish. I strongly suggest hiring a top notch photographer to capture as much of this beautiful backdrop. You won't regret it.

We recently hosted my daughter and son in law's wedding at the Irvine Estate at HMI. We could not have been more pleased by the outcome. Jamie was incredibly helpful and facilitated the most beautiful weekend we could have wanted. The wine and cheese for the wedding party, rehearsal dinner and welcome party on Friday night were perfect. The food was spectacular and we held the dinner (for 40) in the pavillon and the party (for 130) on the terrace. Saturday was just idyllic from breakfast for the wedding party, getting ready in the house, photos in the scenic spaces and a blow out wedding for 210 guests. Jamie and her staff accommodated and supported us the entire way. Every guest was gushing about the venue. We could not have asked for a better spot for our event. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I got married here in September 2016. From the minute my wife and I saw the inn, we knew this was the venue for us. Jamie & the rest of the staff are amazing, and got every detail right with our ceremony, guests and catering. The wedding day itself was perfect, and our families and friends loved it. We've come back since, and plan to keep coming back, because the Inn is a slice of heaven. Even if you're just traveling through the Shenandoah valley, stay a night here, read a book by the roaring fireplace before bed, and take 15 minutes to watch the sun hit the mountains while sitting in a rocking char on the porch. Your soul will benefit.

The views were incredible and the food was terrific. Service and staff were fabulous. The place is beautiful, quiet, incredibly comfortable and welcoming. We didn't even know our room had a hot tub on the balcony - it was so exciting! The small interior pub is adorable and the wine selection is fabulous. There were a few little niggles but nothing that the staff didn't handle beautifully. I would absolutely recommend this place for a country getaway.

The property is situated about 20 min north of downtown Bedford close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can take a stroll on the property and enjoy the numerous plants and flowers native to the area. There's also a small creek to check out. We enjoyed sitting on the porch covered with different plants and greenery to watch the local hummingbirds buzz around and visit flowers. Our bedroom was cozy with a super comfy bed, sitting area to watch TV, and private bathroom with excellent shower pressure. There was also a small fridge in the common area to store perishable items from our cooler. Sally was a wonderful B&B host and made unique and tasty breakfasts each morning keeping in mind our dietary restrictions. Overall the experience was pleasant and relaxing. I look forward to making a future visit. P.S. - Sally also creates magnificent stained glass art which she sells if you're interested. Bring some spending cash in case you find a piece that catches your eye. You won't regret it.

Owners Mike and Kathy were welcoming as could be, and made sure our stay was enjoyable as could be. They even went to the lengths of leaving helpful info and the following day's breakfast menu on our bed each evening. The rooms are not only clean and welcoming, but remain in period decor, thankfully with working AC and functional bathrooms :) Breakfast was beyond fabulous- Kathy prepared juices, coffee, yogurt, fruit creations, and a scrumptious French toast croissant with warm green apple slices. To say this place was "quaint and nice" would be doing The Carriage House a great disservice; rather, it is a classy and serene locale, with plenty to do within a 20-minute drive! I would without a doubt recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway with plenty to do aside from enjoying the country life. To do locally: wineries, rafting, tubing, outdoor year-round skiing, museums, visit Jefferson's other home, bike, hike, dine out, etc. Came with a package deal from LivingSocial.com - and am thrilled I picked this "escape package" - worth every penny.

She knows what she's done, and she knows how to fix it. Let's see if she does so. It's really too bad also - there was so much lost potential as a result of this poor communication and unfriendly customer service - mostly just at the very end, which tainted the whole experience. I really wanted it to go a different way because I am a supporter of small businesses in general and believe I was a thoughtful guest; my approach was to be forthright and honest and correct a situation, while hers was to take advantage of the situation and profit off of it, just in case, and without saying anything up front. She not only initiated an unauthorized charge, but acted in poor faith in the way that she did it behind the back of her customers, creating a bad taste from the overall experience. Travelers Tip: Tread lightly with these bureaucratic "Karen" hosts.

A marathon…read morebrought me out to the area, and I was looking for a place with a kitchen and where dogs were welcome. I'm so glad I ended up staying at Fox Hill b&b, even though there were hotels closer to my race. Charlie and Julie acquired the place during the pandemic, and they're seriously killing it. Grounds. Absolutely gorgeous. The b&b is on a large stretch of land and there's plenty of small mown grass paths to explore and walk around. Mountains around, and of course close by to some legit hiking trails which I hope to hit in the future. Rooms. All I can say is that the pictures don't quite do them justice. Yes, they're quaint. I think I was expecting the rooms to "feel" older, but there were so many cute details, and everything looked new and very well kept. The bed and couch (where I may have watched like 2 hours of qvc) were comfy. They have a few rooms, two with kitchens. We got a kitchen room, and my parents got a non-kitchen room. Both with beautiful views of the grounds. The kitchen was well equipped, literally with everything that I needed (pots, saucepans, strainers, cutlery, bunch of different sized bowls/plates/mugs, etc.). There were also a lot of nice little touches, like drinks in the refrigerator that were gulped down immediately after the race or paw wipes for the dog. FOOD. This is the biggie. I've never ever ever have been to a more welcoming b&b. When I booked the room, about half a year in advance, Julie asked about dietary restrictions. I told her that we were vegan, and she asked me what type of milk I liked to drink (oat) and what I thought about vegan muffins/how I made them. I didn't think much about it because I figured she'd forget and we'd do what we always do - bring our milk, bring our food, just eat out of a can (sigh/lol). When we got there, they had bought oat milk, just egg, and had a recipe for vegan muffins for our breakfast. Breakfast was topnotch. A scramble of just egg with lots of veggies, vegan breakfast sausage, potatoes, delicious blueberry muffins, cup of fruit, and coffee with oat milk. Maybe redundant, but Charlie and Julie were also just good people. And there's some self selection it seems, because all other guests were friendly as well. Some other notes: - Dogs allowed in rooms, grounds, but not in main building (where the kitchen is). - There is an outdoor eating area if you're still uncomfortable eating inside (like my mom is). They had large heaters for the outdoor tables. - Check in between 4 - 7 p.m. They like to know when you get there because they set things up for your stay and like to welcome you in.
