Loved absolutely everything about this place. From the lovely hospitality to the amazing views. I can't recommend this place enough. From the moment we got here- they made us feel very welcomed. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Probably one of the best parts of staying here was the fact that we were able to bring our furry friend. If you're looking for a relaxing stay with beautiful views, you found your spot.

Blueberry pancakes and bourbon maple bacon

We stayed at Fox Hill for a romantic long weekend away from the city. It was exactly what we needed! The property is tucked away, quiet, and beautiful. We enjoyed walking our dog around the property to see the horses and chickens each morning. The included breakfasts were delicious, and we were given the option to chose between a sweet (think French toast and blueberry pancakes) and savory (frittatas and omelettes) option everyday. The bourbon maple bacon and the banana nut muffins were major standouts. They use fresh eggs from their chicken coop and butter from the dairy farm just down the road. Our room on the second floor was cute and cozy with an electric fireplace and bathtub. Parking is ample and there's plenty to do in nearby Lexington, VA.

We just came back from a perfect mountain getaway at Fox Hill B&B. The owners Julie and Charlie have a history in the hospitality industry as well as a love of the outdoors and it shows. The breakfasts were served on a large outdoor deck and were delicious as well as abundant portions. There was a choice of two main dishes each day which we appreciated. We elected one of each so we could sample both. The setting is idyllic. It is about a 20 minute drive to Lexington, but it is worth it for 38 acres of peace and quiet, horses, a well maintained natural property, and Mountain View's.

This was just want we needed after a long say of driving and hiking the day before. Julie and Charlie were the perfect hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. The stargazer suite was comfy and had an amazing view. We loved the animals and will definitely be back for a longer stay!

Absolutely delicious cinnamon waffle and bacon breakfast!

This is our second time here and we came back for seconds for a few reasons! Sue & Mark are fabulous hosts-- the breakfast is amazing!--, the rooms are beautiful, and the property is absolutely lovely and romantic. Also, there's a horse and a donkey to walk over and say hi to! Thank you again for another warm and welcoming stay!

My husband and I just stayed here for a three day weekend. We arrived at night and saw some deer on the property and a fox. The door and walkway were well illuminated. The owners were welcoming and very professional. Our room was very spacious- bigger than many hotel suites. The room was clean and had awesome views of the mountains. Breakfast was served at 9am and everything was delicious. The owners gave us information on the best local attractions and was available to answer all of our questions. I would definitely visit again.

What a beautiful B&B farm. If you're into quiet mountain mornings, adventure biking, fishing,…read moreswimming and relaxation; this is the place to be. There is a little bit of peace to be had for everyone. It's a pet friendly b&b farm, well behaved dogs are welcomed with open arms. The hosts: Deanie, Ken, Laura and Blair are amazing. They're so warm and welcoming, full of friendly conversation and inquisitive about everyone's interests and back grounds. There is plenty of morning coffee talk and stories a plenty. It feels like extended family. This is our second stay ( we knew we had to return again after our first visit) and it was just as amazing as the first visit. I recommend this place if you're looking to disconnect from mainstream life, and media and enjoy a quiet respite. My daughter and I enjoyed walks to pet horses, dogs, and cats around the property. We cannot wait to come back again.

This is quickly becoming my home away from home. Going to Penmerryl feels like visiting family--if…read moreyour family had a giant, gorgeous piece of land with a swimming pool, canoeing/kayaking, a shaded tennis court, an on-call masseuse, and a number of places with fire pits (including a secret one by the pond!) The rooms are modern and the beds are really comfortable, and Deanie and Laura's breakfast is indulgently great. Now to the farm's semi-secret identity: it also happens to be a playground for adventure motorcycling! Don't worry, it's still QUIET near the lodge and the pool area (not a lot of loud Harleys here!) but if you're interested or just getting into the sport, this is the place to be. Blair is an outstanding coach and will teach you whatever you need to know about riding off roads (and will help you properly configure your bike to boot!) and there are miles of perfect trails through the woods to explore right on the property. If you're considering your first BDR, I'd HIGHLY recommend a few days with Blair and Laura at Penmerryl first--they'll get you ready to go. (They'll also point you to the local riding trails). I'm a little worried about this place taking off, but I couldn't help but share. If you come, you'll be hooked.

The hotel isn't so old, I was told 17 years old but it seems older with its classic style - it's gingerbread moldings and large porches - and it's quite cute. I really enjoyed my time here. I'm glad that I read about the lack of WiFi and cellphone service in advance so I was prepared. I took it as a break to spend time with my friends and husband - a time to disconnect. They also host spiritual conferences there, we were told. I can imagine it being a good place for a church retreat - the rates for conferences were very reasonable - advertised in the $400 range for a full weekend of meals and activities. I can imagine this business growing as the location is extremely beautiful and it's a powerful thing to disconnect and reconnect with loved ones.

The room is clean and with an unique theme as described on their website. The only downside is this place is too far from where we live. We would definitely like to visit more if it's closer. It's a perfect place for kids too.
