Beautiful B&B with gracious host. Close to downtown restaurants. Enjoyed our stay immensely!

This is my 3rd trip to Lexington this year and my favorite place to stay so far. Plan to book ahead if it's a busy W&L or VMI weekend.

We stayed in the Equestrian Room, which had one of the most beautiful bedrooms I have ever stayed in, with a homey smaller room immediately adjacent so that my daughter could have a little privacy. The complimentary breakfast served the next morning was better than any restaurant. A mammoth omelet that was as light as it was flavorful was complimented by mouth watering blueberry stuffed french toast that could have been a meal (or dessert) all by itself. Our hosts Iris and Patrick were polite, helpful, friendly but never intrusive. If you have business or vacation plans anywhere near Lexington, VA, you owe yourself a stay at the 1868 Magnolia House Inn.

Our common rooms and three of our guest rooms offer gas-log fireplaces with original mantels. Breakfast is served with china, crystal and silver to carry out the gracious theme. Relax in the Parlor or on one of the porches after a day of shopping in Lexington's downtown boutiques, and dining in some of the dozen restaurants--all just a few blocks away. Plan another day or two for touring historic landmarks, including the beautiful Lee Chapel-- constructed by the same Victorian builder as the 1868 Magnolia House Inn.

An old Presbyterian church was renovated back into a large home with four rooms on the second floor. I particularly enjoyed relaxing on the porch looking out onto South Main Street one late summer Friday evening. My room was large, both the bed and sheets were comfortable, and the updated bathroom gave me some ideas for a potential future home revocation. Cheryl and Rob were friendly hosts who make sure you get a full meal to start the day. Visitors to Lexington themselves, as heir weekday home base is in northern Virginia, they appreciate trips out to the Shenandoah Valley as much as their guests! I would certainly recommend staying here, as I got to meet a 23 year old alum back for reunion and a couple from Australia traveling along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Don't be caught off guard when they ask for check payment and enjoy your stay in a beautiful home away from home. Great option to rent out the whole space of you have a few friends in town for a weekend. I'm a loyal Hilton Honors member, but my stay at Grace House has me ready to spend more time in B&B's worth my travels.

Every amenity you can think of was there and Cheryl (and Rob) did whatever they could to make sure we felt "at home." The location of Grace House is close enough to the downtown area of Lexington to walk to, and it also worked out perfectly and was spacious enough for the bridesmaids to gather and get dressed the day of the wedding, and then to have bridal pictures taken there also. Thank you Cheryl and Rob for sharing incredible Grace House with us during this special time. We are so grateful!

John and David were so welcoming; I felt like I was staying with friends instead of strangers. Then there are the epicly delicious breakfasts - perfectly cooked eggs, fresh fruit, and thick, maple bacon, for example. The rooms were lovely and comfortable. Just one note - this is an older home, and there are stairs up into the home and stairs up to the rooms. (This wasn't an issue for me, but my mother has mobility issues so I keep an eye for these kinds of things.) That said, I loved the quiet, welcoming atmosphere and felt so comfortable here. It was so nice to come back to the peace of the space after a long day running around with the activities of my brother's wedding.

The rooms were well stocked with everything we needed, down to a basket of toiletries in case we were missing anything. My husband was especially grateful for the shaving cream! We also got to meet the owners' two precious pups and learn a little about the history of their beautiful home. We highly recommend a stay at Frog Hollow!

Our room did not appear clean-could have been from just being old and warn. Tub had a ring as though there had been standing water for a lengthy time. We both skipped the shower. It looks like at one time it was the place to serve as a venue for weddings, conferences, etc., but was not kept up and it looks like a dying hotel. Best Western either needs to shut it down or put some major money into it.

You can buy a whole pack for like $50, so not replacing the stained tiles just shows a lack of maintenance and care. We get up to our room, and the key card won't work. I had to get the worker to come up and do it. Seemed to only work on the third time you try. Next, we picked up pizza and decided to head down to the indoor pool to eat it at the table (there was no place to eat in the room). There was a literal ant colony in the pool area. I'm talking hundreds of ants probably. Crawling all over the table. I really should have left then, but the kids really wanted to swim and I felt bad because they were really looking forward to it. We ate up in our room, and came back downstairs to the pool. Now there's spiders on the ceiling and dead spiders in the pool. They end up getting out. In the "fitness center", nothing works. The treadmill is somehow rusted - not even sure how they managed that. This is seriously like the land that time forgot. Fine, we only really need to sleep here, right? I pull back the sheets on the bed and find.....something....smeared all over the sheets and little black bits all over the place. Still don't know what it was. All I know is this makes it clear that they don't change the sheets between customers. GROSS! I go further, and realize there's not even an enclosure on the mattress - that's pretty standard in hotels and even private home rentals. So I pull back the mattress cover and find a huge stain on it. My kids were in their pajamas, wet from the shower. I didn't even call around for new rooms. I said, pack your stuff, we will sleep in the car if we have to. Only saving grace on this place is 1) both of the employees I interacted with were very helpful 2) they gave me a refund without issue. I suspect I'm not the first person to abruptly check out, requesting a refund. I went around the corner to the Tru Hilton, which was very clean, with a great host at the front desk, for approximately the same price. I will NEVER go to a Best Western "Plus" ever again. Truly a disgusting experience.
