I have stayed at Harmony Hill B&B 2 times and both times have been great! The rooms are spacious and have their own bathrooms. Both rooms I have stayed in had whirlpool tubs and fireplaces. The rooms are decorated beautifully and the King size beds are very comfortable!! The breakfasts are like no other I have ever had! Tiramisu French toast, breakfast pizza, scrambled eggs with zucchini to name a few. And the homemade biscuits are unbelievable!! There are lots of things to do in the area. There are wineries, breweries and a distillery. There are places related to history like the Appomattox Courthouse and the D-Day Memorial. There are lots of hiking trails. There are some great restaurants to visit as well. Some that we have been to are Vito's, Mountain Mamas, and Blue Mountain Barrel House. Book a couple nights, you will not regret it!! read more

Harmony Hill Bed & Breakfast stole over 1500$ from me - Don't make a reservation here! Review of Harmony Hill Bed and Breakfast Pending review I made a reservation at Harmony Hill Bed & Breakfast to stay there during a festival called Lockn - which was scheduled to take place in July. Because of COVID, the festival was canceled. I would've been happy to reschedule my week next year - when Lockn returns. All of the other hotels that I had reserved for music events allowed me to either get a full refund - or allowed me to re book for the following year. Wendie, the owner, insisted that I had to stay here before the end of the year - 2020. Obviously, because of the virus - this is impossible. There is no reason for me to visit Virginia this year - especially because I live in New York and have been unemployed for 4 months. Rather than working with me - or even splitting the cost - as all of the other hotels have allowed me to do - Wendie insisted that I am was to forfeit ALL of my $1538.70 - which I had given her upfront. I realize there is a no cancellation clause here but these are unprecedented times and of course, I cannot afford to lose over 1500$ at this time. I called my bank and had the charges reversed - which she has now reversed back to me. I am shocked that I am now out 1500$. I would NEVER EVER recommend this place - and if you do decide to stay here - just remember - you won't get a DIME of your money back from her. She should be ashamed of herself for stealing this money from me. Thanks alot Wendie. I will make sure all of my friends know what a thief you are. read more

Jay and Wendy were great Hosts, so was Asher (grandson) and Jack (their dog). The accommodations were great! Everything was neat, clean and well decorated and well organized. Wood floors in the main area and our bedroom so that was a plus for someone like me who has allergies. The breakfast was amazing and they were nice enough to keep the orange juice flowing :-) . We stayed in the Melody room. The decor was great. Gave you the homey feel. We also had a flat screened TV, cable, DVD player, and king sized bed. The wooden floors and little reading nook by the window were an added bonus. Bathroom was a nice size, we had a jacuzzi tub/ shower combo. Wendy kept constant communication with us the day of check in to ensure we had everything we needed since we're checking in after hours. They were literally a phone call/ text away. To say that this bed and breakfast is amazing would be a total understatement. In short, Wendie and Jay are the nicest people ever, the accommodations were absolutely amazing, and the food was delicious. My husband and I stayed in the Sonata Room and it was perfect and cute. We had a reading nook, which was my favorite, a flat-screen TV, a DVD player, a cable box, a huge bed, and the bathroom was a good size. We had a great view of the front of the property from our window. Our stay lasted two nights and both mornings our breakfast was delicious. Wendie asked ahead of time if we had any allergies or foods that we don't eat, and since I don't eat meat she kept it out of my meals. The first morning we had parfaits with blueberries and pineapple slices soaked in cherry juice, a watermelon slice, and egg croissant sandwiches with Mexican crumble cheese and jalapenos and tomato slices from their garden. The second morning we ate something totally new to me: a bananas foster french toast bread pudding. They were in large ramekins and so tasty! It came with a bunch of grapes and delicious bacon on the side (don't eat meat but I had to try it). Each morning they also had white grapefruit juice, and one person even requested orange juice, which Wendie provided. The common areas inside were great, and included cute tables with good views, comfy couches, an ice/water machine, free sodas and waters in a fridge, a microwave, silverware and cups/mugs/wine glasses, a Keurig with K-cups available 24/7, teas, fresh-brewed coffee, and DVDs you can watch in the living room or downstairs. Wendie, Jay, and their two older kids were not in the way at all even when they were in the common areas. Outside was perfect as well, with a pond in the front filled with Koi and wild frogs, and hummingbird feeders that attracted a lot of the beautiful birds. The porch had several seating areas and a gazebo on the front lawn that had mesh to keep bugs out at night. There's also a fire pit that they used and gathered around while we were there. They have ducks and chickens in the far back, which I thought was really adorable, and they grow much of the produce they use for the food in their own garden. There are also two resident dogs who stole the show, Jack and Biscuit, and I loved being greeted by them and playing with them. Wendie and Jay are fantastic people. Though we had very different views on several subjects, something which only came up in passing because we chatted with them for so long (because they're awesome), I never felt like they were pushing their views on me nor that they were judgmental in any way. As for the so-called "religious propaganda" around the house, I have atheist views and hardly noticed any of the decorative signs, because there really aren't many, and the ones I did see did not offend me. In fact, I've never before felt more welcome by people with a religious background than I did with Wendie and Jay. The couple are very much in love, and they are really funny and welcoming. They gave us directions for everywhere we went because we had no service, recommendations for the breweries/wineries to try nearby, and asked how we liked each activity we did. They were truly wonderful. It baffles me that someone else has left an awful review of this place, but it seems as though they must have ruined the linens pretty badly to have warranted being charged. They don't charge for just washing the linens, they charge for having to replace them completely. Our stay here was worth every penny and I would go back again and again if I lived closer to this area. It was truly unique and so memorable for our first bed and breakfast experience. read more

Literal fraud- to say nothing of the otherwise horrible experience. Nickel and dime you, for common things like washing linens, not your laundry mind you, but the their bedding in their room. Owners and extended family hang out in common area pretty much all day, happy to meet new people but don't stay here if you want quiet time. Rooms filled with religious propaganda, maybe good if you are into that. Very expensive, proprietors rude and unprofessional. I would literally rather sleep in my car than stay here. Sent me angry texts that STARTED with accusations of me ignoring them, then threats to charge my credit card for, get this 'cleaning the linens'- oh you mean that thing hotels and every other business in the hospitality industry consider common operating cost? Well it turns out Wendi, or as I now refer to her Wendigo, had already charged my account despite me denying them permission to charge. They then claimed that their right to charge was covered by the contract I signed (I kept a copy, it wasn't). When I called them on that lie they said that it was in "the book" in the room. News flash, Harmony Hill, you just committed fraud. read more

Absolutely perfect! It is a wonderful getaway from the city with the rustic charm of the country but all of the amenities of home--or perhaps even more. The rooms are incredibly accommodating, the hosts are welcoming and the breakfasts are to-die-for. I'm not usually a morning person but the fresh air, gorgeous scenery and the smell of baked apple French toast got me out of bed in a hurry! read more

We selected Harmony Hills due to its nearly perfect reviews on this site and its proximity to many of the wineries and breweries in Nelson County and Crabtree Falls (a hiking trail). The reviews on this site are very accurate. Owning a bed and breakfast requires one to wear many hats, and both Jay and Wendie do it flawlessly. The minute we arrived, Jay came over to our vehicle to greet us and then introduced us to his wife, Wendie. We immediately felt welcomed, which to me is very important when you stay in a bed and breakfast setting. Jay informed us that he was chopping some wood to get a campfire up and going for the evening and that we were welcome to join. We did have other plans, but it was a very nice touch. As others have said, they have a delicious pound cake out for their guests, as well as a mini-fridge stocked with beverages and Keurig. These are little extras that you don't find at other B&Bs. Our room, the Concerto, was clean and cozy. It wasn't overwhelming in the decor, which was refreshing. Some B&Bs have way to much floral and lace, but this isn't the case at Harmony Hills. It's like staying in a mountain lodge. The next morning, they served us a huge breakfast that consisted of breakfast casserole, cheese quesadillas, and a strawberry parfait with orange juice. The breakfast area has a great view of their open yard. Both Wendie and Jay were attentive to all of their guests making sure that everyone had enough to eat. Beautiful home with lots of charm. We stayed one night in the Ballad room. It was comfortable and clean. All rooms were rented but was still very quiet and relaxing. Wendy and Jay were great hosts. Would love to go back. Don't miss hiking Crabtree Falls even if it is just to the lower fall. Amazing! read more

I made a reservation this morning for 3 rooms at Harmony Hill Bed & Breakfast near Arrington, VA through their direct website for next May 2019. I was so excited because many places in Lynchburg are already sold out and I was planning to take my parents to see my son's graduation at Liberty University. I agreed to all of their terms & policies including the non-refundable rate and paid for all 3 rooms through Paypal. I received a confirmation immediately and within minutes, I received a confirmation email from Harmony Hill B&B welcoming me and my guests next Spring. I then received a message to contact the owner, Wendy. When I spoke to Wendy, she informed me that the reservation that I had made was actually "no good" even despite the fact that I had received a confirmation. She stated that the rates would increase in January 2019 and that she required a 2-Night Minimum for the month of May. No where in all of the policies on the website did it state anything about a 2-Night Minimum for the month of May. She told me that no one made reservations that far in advance and they had not yet changed the prices on their website for next year. I told her that I had been looking at other places that were already sold out for next year and the places that did require a 2-night minimum, had it posted. She said it wasn't her fault, stuff happens, but in order for my reservation to be good, I would have to agree to pay the increased rate AND agree to pay for 2-nights!!! I can't believe her actions are even legal, but I can't afford not to have a place for our family to stay for my son's graduation. Needless to say, I would never want to stay at Harmony Hill B&B after being treated this way. read more
