The wine was good, but I'm not a wine connoisseur. The selling point here is the atmosphere because the views are stunning. You can take a lawn chair and spend hours here watching the scenery.

12 Ridges Vineyard (formerly Skylark Farm) opened up the wine tasting room in September 2019 right off Milepost 27.2 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Formerly an event center (and still a Christmas tree farm) it planted its vineyard last year and is now open as a wine tasting bar. For the time being they DO NOT sell their own wine, although that will come in time. Fortunately they do sell an assortment of international wines that emphasize their theme of being a 'high altitude winery'. This is an important part of their brand, since at 3300 feet they literally are the highest winery in Virginia. They also have snacks for sale. 12 Ridges is very family friendly. Dogs weren't allowed to wander inside the tasting room, but they could be outside. They have 12 acres of vines, but those won't be producing until 2020 at the earliest. But when it's ready - what out! They have Pinot Noir planted, and this is a great location for it. While the wine selection is good, the reality is most people come for the view - and it's pretty amazing. I wish I hadn't come on such a cloudy day otherwise my pictures would have been spectacular. But from what I saw of their website, the views really are stunning.

After an awesome scenic drive through some rolling hills led us to 12 Ridges. While visiting here during Covid restrictions I felt like the staff here had everything in order. Spaced out tables and seating with minimal interactions. The wine here is pretty good and the views are as breathtaking as everyone says...talk about elevation (3300'). If it is not the highest elevation for a winery in VA it is most definitely 1 of. Great wine, staff and 12 Ridges members made our visit a good one!! For sure coming back for a re-visit.

We stumbled across this gem while enjoying a beautiful drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway! Be careful, you might miss the turn! They aren't allowed to put signage up on the parkway, but if you go past, you'll want to turn around! The ladies behind the bar were so nice. They had music playing on the large patio. The views are beautiful!! The wines were good too!! We will definitely return to enjoy this place as soon as we can!

My wife and I were recommended this place so we drove out on a Saturday afternoon. It is very much off the beaten path. The grounds and views are fantastic. Parking is in a grass area and also on another lot, but that lot is a good walk to the deck where they serve wine. My understanding at this time all the wine is sourced and not theirs yet, but that is in the works. If that is incorrect, then that is a misunderstanding on my part. The tasting room was shut down so we did not get to try that. They also had a large tent set up so it looks like they also do events and weddings. The wine was pretty good, but a little expensive in my opinion. And this bothered me- a guy walked up and asked what we wanted. We ordered a bottle of white wine. He walked about 10 feet- grabbed the bottle, two glasses and an ice bucket. Walked back to us, put it on the table and said here is your bill- there is a mandatory gratuity. I dont mind mandatory gratuity if there is some level of service. There wasn't any Give this place a shot if you want... but there are lots of other vineyards to visit as well.

Journey looking sad because after waiting inside for 20 minutes to be served, she was told to leave or she had to be tied up alone outside.

The place has amazing views and the wine might be good but I never had a chance to try anything. I was not able to order because I had my dog with me. I was out hiking alone with my dog when I decided to try the place out. I saw a number of dogs as we were enjoying the long walk from the parking area to the tasting room, so I was excited to see they were dog friendly (little did I know I was very wrong about that). They didn't seem to have outside service, so the only way for me to order anything was to go inside with my (well behaved) dog. I waited in line for at least 20 minutes (there was only one staff member who seemed to be working, so the service was slow). While that one staff member was busy taking care of all of the customers, there was another lady who came in and out of the employee door a few times. This lady wasn't friendly to anyone and didn't offer to help out despite it being busy, it was almost like she felt the customers were a bother to her. After a few more minutes, she said to me, with an attitude, that dogs really aren't allowed inside wineries and I needed to leave with my dog. I told her I was there alone and I wasn't going to leave my dog tied up outside or in my vehicle, which was a long walk away. How was I suppose to place an order? She didn't offer any alternatives, didn't offer to come out and take my order - nothing. I've taken my dog in plenty of wineries with no issues until today. And if that's their policy, why have me stand around inside the tasting room for over 20 minutes wasting my time? Since I had no other options, I left. I went and spent my money at a much friendly winery (inside with my dog). The place may be beautiful but that one staff member ruined my experience and I'll never be back. (Their wine also looked to be overpriced for the area, especially since the wine they sell isn't even their own - it may be worth it, but I'll never know)

During my wine tasting at Rockbridge Vineyard, I sought out the driest wines they offered, but even the dry wines were too sweet for my palate. If you like sweet wine, you will love this wine! Nevertheless, I did take home a bottle of Jeremiah's, which is their wine that's made with concord grapes. It's definitely a sweet wine. I shared it with some people who love the sweets, so I didn't drink as much. Along with wine tasting, they offer wine slushies and little appetizers to purchase, like locally made cheeses, salami, crackers, chips and popcorn. This is not a restaurant, so you won't find a meal. But you can also bring your own food, if you like. During the summer months, they have food trucks on select days.

The food is limited to cheese and chartreuse, but they frequently have food trucks, especially at the week end. Service was nice, but the real standout is the views of the vines. Along with wine tastings, Ecco Adesso offers their 350 acre farm as a place to explore the vineyards, hiking trails, meadows, orchards, waterfalls and creeks that are on the grounds. I got a wine flight, which included four 2-ounce pours. There are four flights to choose from, and I chose the Old World/New World flight, which had two Chardonnays and two Cabernet Francs. I'm not a Chardonnay person at all, but I'm 100% a Cab Franc person. It turns out, I really loved the Chardonnay! Who'd-a known. That's the great thing about doing a flight: You can try something new and maybe discover something about yourself along the way. I enjoyed my wine flight on the big porch outside of the winery. The porch overlooks the beautiful grape vineyards, and it's a picturesque sight to behold for sure. The porch has big rocking chairs, so you can sit and sip and rock and stare at the scenery. I found that the people who work here were incredibly friendly and helpful. At one point, I wanted to try a little taste of a different wine that wasn't on my flight, and they didn't even blink and just gave me a pour. So nice!

The vineyard reminded me of a charming château, with its picturesque surroundings and elegant atmosphere. It was a truly unforgettable experience that left me feeling inspired and rejuvenated. I was warmly welcomed by Brian and a lovely young lady (I apologize for forgetting your name). They were both delightful and made me feel right at home. Brian even took me on a tour of the cellar and eagerly answered all of my questions! They offered four different types of wine flights for tasting. One from Williamsburg Vineyard, one from Sassaia Vineyards (from Italy, as they are close friends), an old world vs new world flight, and one from Ecco Adesso. I decided to go with the flight from the winery. My favorites were the 2022 Petit Manseng and the 2022 new world Chardonnay. I highly recommend making the drive to the vineyard as it does not disappoint with its wines, beautiful scenery, sheep, and overall serenity. Don't forget to pack a picnic!
