beautiful linens, super clean & very comfy beds & pillows. Features neat little touches w/paperback books by bedside

I was so surprised to see how inviting and neat this establishment was upon pulling into the parking lot. It is beautifully landscaped, freshly painted with updated lighting, doors, and well lit location. The check-in was wonderful and the night clerk was so friendly and helpful. My room was the best part! They really did put a lot of effort into all of the little details in the room. It makes you feel like you are staying in a guest room in a very nice home versus being in a motel hotel setting. The beds are super comfortable with nice fluffy pillows and everything is super clean including the updated well lit bathroom has great water pressure! The final touches were the things like the books by the bedside table, the Wi-Fi area and desk station has lots of accessories to help your stay and the breakfast nook, features, a refrigerator, microwave, coffee, pot, ice bucket, and snack area. It is a perfect place to stay an entire week care and comfort.

Not my first roadside hotel in life (get your mind out of the gutter) but this is the Cadillac of roadside hotels if 1 exists. Extremely clean in the rooms, like I might just eat a burrito off that thing. The beds were very comfortable even though my feet kinda hung off the edge. Complimentary vending machine style snacks in a welcome basket. A camp style shower (tight for large folks and people with long arms) that provided nonstop hot water with a flow that'll blow you out of the joint. YESSSSSSSS, Daddy loves his hot showers! The grounds are pretty cool. Gazebos and places to sit, eat snacks and chill with some friends. There is a McDonald's and a gas station directly across the street. The owner(s) are great people. Keep up the great work and see you the next time we drink wine all day at Ankida vineyard!!!

Cute bathroom stocked with everything we needed

Charming. CLEAN. Comfy. This totally sums up the Amherst Inn. I'll be honest, I was a bit apprehensive about staying at a roadside motel in a fairly rural area, but our friends assured us that we'd feel completely comfortable and safe. They were 100% correct.   The most important part of an overnight stay for me is cleanliness. No worries there. They keep the rooms spotless. Next, I need to be comfortable. I run hot all the time, so a good a/c is important for me. This room got nice and chilly, which was perfect for snuggling under all the soft blankets they provide. There was plenty of storage space (hooks, shelves, divans at the end of the beds, etc.). The water pressure in the shower was incredible! There's a mini fridge, a microwave and a little coffee pot in the room - they provide real coffee mugs or individually wrapped cups for your comfort. The wi-fi was fast and the TV had a ton of channels. If we were staying longer than just one night, that would have been a big plus! We still appreciated it, even though we didn't have much time to take advantage of it.   It's the added small touches that put this place over the top though ... they included a basket full of complimentary snacks and two bottles of water in the room. There are a variety of books by the bed, which made me feel right at home. The bathroom contained a basket with all kinds of essentials if you forget to bring your own. Some of the items were: a toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, mouthwash, q-tips, shower cap, soap, hand sanitizer. Plenty of fluffy towels and washcloths were freshly laundered and neatly arranged for our stay. The owners have thoughtfully curated an album with all the local eateries, shops and things to do/see in case you want to explore the area.   We chose this place because of its proximity to Ankida Ridge Vineyards - we were there for a special wine club event. I highly recommend staying here if you're in the area. If you'll be exploring wineries, it's a pro move to book a ride with Tabb's Cab service. They shuttled us from Amherst Inn to Ankida and back again. We had an overall wonderful experience! We'll definitely be staying here again when we're in the area.

Everything you may need in toiletries.

Free parking is available within steps of the hotel and no need for valet service (unless you want it). I also highly recommend the Skyline restaurant on the top floor for good food and superior service. My only negative, and this is not about the hotel, is that Lynchburg seems to be a dying town (and least in the area of the hotel). I never felt unsafe while walking around (the Lower Bluff Walk is nice), but on a Monday afternoon it felt like a ghost town. Nevertheless, if I'm ever again in Lynchburg I would stay here again.

The hospitality was so genuine. We made reservations at the Skyline for 7:30 and our friend meet us early, so we went to the William and Henry's bar area for a drink. That location is at a lower level. Either location was perfect to eat or drink. We had great service and excellent decor at both. Fish and Chips was one of meals enjoyed on the roof top restaurant , the meal tasted so good it was like it jumped from the water up to that height. The other two had Harvest Salad one with the chicken and I had the grilled shrimp. All I can say it was delicious, nothing left on either plate! Tasha K was our server at the rooftop and I did not catch our other servers name. The whole experience has made us soon to be regulars.

Didn't get to use the charcoal "park grill" that was added since our last visit but it looked like it has potential to make a great meal. "Next time!" Staff is friendly and goes to lengths to make sure you feel welcome and that your stay is comfortable. Wifi at the cabin was helpful in locating things to do in the area since there's no cell service. We kept the electronics to a minimum and enjoyed the beauty the area has to offer. The highlights of our stay were the hike to the top of Crabtree Falls, the beach fun at Sherando Lake and the visit to Wild Wolf Brewery for dinner and corn hole. Can't wait to book our next stay at what the kids have dubbed "our cabin in Virginia!" Lol!

Logwood - Renter Beware!!!…read more Video/pictures are carefully presented to not depict what you will be truly getting. If you are looking for a private cabin in the woods with easy access to a creek right outside the back door, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. - The cabin is located on a well-traveled road, not off the beaten path via the gravel drive depicted. - There are two additional homes right next door - a big rating of 0 for privacy. - The inside is extremely small (which was ok), but the photos do not accurately depict what is there. The full size washer/dryer (in the kitchen) is overkill in this little space , no cute table & chairs; instead an ugly bar thing. The furnishings are more than a little worn; look like they came from a bad second-hand store. - Bath is ok; no shower. - Upstairs is a one room loft. The video depicts 2 full size beds, the written description states 3. Which is it? Three beds and dressers, which makes for very little space to even move around. I can't imagine 6 adults sleeping up there. - If you are disabled or elderly, you will not be able to enjoy the creek in the back as one must navigate a steep vertical slope down/up. And, I mean steep! - While the cabin is set up to sleep a hand full of people, the size is truly for no more than 2 - even three would be pushing it. - As we didn't stay, I can't really comment on the kitchen (it "appeared" adequate) or the condition/comfort of the beds. We wanted to get away from it all, not be sharing our time with the neighbors next door and not be able to enjoy the creek and surrounding woods. Suffice it to say, people do not pack up with 2 large dogs, fill up with gas (which is not cheap these days), and travel for several hours only to turn around and leave. While we were offered to try another cabin, we declined in that we really didn't want to deal with folks who had been so deceptive from the get go and continued to place the blame on us since we didn't investigate the property on Google Maps. Really!!! We were offered a 50% refund, of which we only received a portion. We should have been refunded 100% for the pet fee charge and the arm load of fire wood we purchased, plus an error in their math when initially charging us. As far as I'm concerned, we should have been refunded for every penny.

I'm so glad I ended up staying at Fox Hill b&b, even though there were hotels closer to my race. Charlie and Julie acquired the place during the pandemic, and they're seriously killing it. Grounds. Absolutely gorgeous. The b&b is on a large stretch of land and there's plenty of small mown grass paths to explore and walk around. Mountains around, and of course close by to some legit hiking trails which I hope to hit in the future. Rooms. All I can say is that the pictures don't quite do them justice. Yes, they're quaint. I think I was expecting the rooms to "feel" older, but there were so many cute details, and everything looked new and very well kept. The bed and couch (where I may have watched like 2 hours of qvc) were comfy. They have a few rooms, two with kitchens. We got a kitchen room, and my parents got a non-kitchen room. Both with beautiful views of the grounds. The kitchen was well equipped, literally with everything that I needed (pots, saucepans, strainers, cutlery, bunch of different sized bowls/plates/mugs, etc.). There were also a lot of nice little touches, like drinks in the refrigerator that were gulped down immediately after the race or paw wipes for the dog. FOOD. This is the biggie. I've never ever ever have been to a more welcoming b&b. When I booked the room, about half a year in advance, Julie asked about dietary restrictions. I told her that we were vegan, and she asked me what type of milk I liked to drink (oat) and what I thought about vegan muffins/how I made them. I didn't think much about it because I figured she'd forget and we'd do what we always do - bring our milk, bring our food, just eat out of a can (sigh/lol). When we got there, they had bought oat milk, just egg, and had a recipe for vegan muffins for our breakfast. Breakfast was topnotch. A scramble of just egg with lots of veggies, vegan breakfast sausage, potatoes, delicious blueberry muffins, cup of fruit, and coffee with oat milk. Maybe redundant, but Charlie and Julie were also just good people. And there's some self selection it seems, because all other guests were friendly as well. Some other notes: - Dogs allowed in rooms, grounds, but not in main building (where the kitchen is). - There is an outdoor eating area if you're still uncomfortable eating inside (like my mom is). They had large heaters for the outdoor tables. - Check in between 4 - 7 p.m. They like to know when you get there because they set things up for your stay and like to welcome you in.
