A little outdated .... Definetely not the place to stay if you're a Hilton person like me. I stayed…read morebecause everything else was sold out.....I may sleep in my car next time. Bathroom was kind of clean....built up crud around the walls and shower was a turn off. I would think twice about going to any true location. Staff was very friendly and I mentioned my concerns... They didn't seemed surprised at all.

EVERYTHING! I can't believe I'm raving about a hotel outside of an exotic, warm location!…read moreIt's more about the functionality, service, and aesthetics tho'. Hilton got it right. They clearly put a lot of thought and effort into this line (do you say "line" ... maybe it's "chain"?) of hotels. Y'all I know it sounds corny but the lighting, the amount of lighting, and outlets, and storage and space saving accommodations (no closet but cool industrial looking hanger thingees), the new soap/lotion dispensers, the huge bathroom ... they thought of EVERYTHING and I am happy to say I experienced it. The hotel itself is CLEAN and bright and modern; both desk clerks were efficient AND FRIENDLY, the complimentary breakfast was standard buttttt they had a new fangled pancake maker which totally entertained me for way too long than I'd care to admit. Did I mention the lounge/common area was also CLEAN and bright and modern? Check out my pics. Not sure what you need to come to Farmville, VA for (I'm here for traffic court part 2 ... a sad story for another time) buttt I highly recommend booking here. When you do, tell them you saw it on Yelp!

What a wonderful addition to Farmville. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the rooms…read moreare lovely and well appointed. We've stopped by the restaurant many times after riding our bikes on the High Bridge trail and have always been satisfied with the food. On this stay, we enjoyed the Cat Bird Bar on the roof and loved the view and the service. Note, if you stay on Thursday, it is College Night at the Press Club down the street which was quite loud in our room that was near the street. (Just ask for a room facing away from the street or in the older section of the building). Breakfast was a bit disappointing, though. Very bland food (we had the basic breakfast) and the muffin we ordered had about 3 berries :( Overall a great place and I would certainly stay here again!

This historic hotel is a central figure in town. The halls were a bit spartan, but I was pleased…read morewhen I actually entered my room to find that it was strikingly cool on a hot day and an excellent set of decorations and modern furniture. The balcony view wasn't particularly worthwhile, but the room itself delivered. The chief sources of frustration for me were a parking lot with scary big potholes and wifi that didn't work consistently. I felt that in this price range, it's reasonable to expect better. I could live with the other limitations of a historic building, and I'd much rather they spend money cooling and furnishing the rooms than the hallways so we're on the same page there. But although I didn't have such plans on this visit, I often telework at hotels and the connection fritzing out on me is a significant issue, as is the threat of the parking lot to my tires. Additionally, when I went out to search for breakfast, I left the "do not disturb" sign on my door only to return and find the door wide open. No one was in there, they were just cleaning other rooms in the hallway. This was an hour before checkout. What was that about? I liked being close to everything in this town and it's not that I wouldn't consider staying again under the right circumstances. I've given them some clear things that could have been better.

I ordered the steak for lunch and it was tasty but not outstanding. We were a large group so I can imagine it was difficult to get all of the food out. First off, every interaction from booking to check out was full of kindness and going above and beyond. When the owners found out we were celebrating a birthday, T excitedly said she'd "birthday bomb" the room. That she did! Full of decorations and balloons, it was a beautiful way to celebrate. Then, after chatting with Jim, the chef, he learned that the birthday boy loved lamb and offered to make that special (we signed up for the five course meal). The five courses we had were so worth the cost. Not only were portions huge, but everything we were given was absolutely delicious. I'll dream of that filet mignon for a while. The three course breakfasts were also amazing, made extra special by selecting one of their tons of options of flavored lattes. I couldn't recommend staying here more. In addition, the grounds were gorgeous and well kept. We'll be back next year! Thank you Jim and T for making everything so special.

Valet parking was easy and stress-free, which always sets the tone. Jeffrey was incredibly polite and helpful on the phone when I called to update my reservation and add my status--small interaction, but it stood out. Check-in with J was smooth and efficient, and Alister greeted us with so much warmth and positivity. You could really feel that the team works well together and takes pride in what they do. The room itself was comfortable, clean, and modern, with a lovely view that made it even more enjoyable. The hotel feels very well managed overall--everything just runs the way it should. Location is another huge plus--right near UVA and central to everything you'd want while visiting Charlottesville. Without hesitation, this is the best place to stay in Charlottesville. Highly recommend and would absolutely return.

I had hoped that it would offer a high class experience, but it was just okay. The room had some minor aesthetic touches, but in substance was pretty standard. The entrance to the hotel felt a bit cramped, and the building seemed centered around the restaurant that didn't have much for me. The sheets caused some skin irritation, and I wish all hotels used the most hypoallergenic detergent available. From a service perspective, it was quite good. I was offered an early checkin and also took a late checkout, so I got a ton of time with the room. They also stored my luggage, including various baked goods, after I was done. So I got a lot of value out of the room. The question to me was how this hotel would compare to the others that are in downtown Charlottesville; would the experience be worth a bit more than the more standard Marriotts or various others. I was not convinced that it would be worth spending the extra money on.
