She has seen weddings, receptions, birthdays, proms, quenceneras, baby showers, bridal showers, engagement announcements, rehearsals, bridal shows, retirement parties, dinner parties, public and private Teas, Holiday parties, business meetings, celebrations of life, fund raising events and even political rallies.The house was originally built in 1770 by William Walthall and passed down to his daughters, Polly and Susannah (our purported ghost), then sold to a Doctor Anderson who extended the front of the house in the 1830s. Later, he sold it to a Doctor Friend who resided there when she would serve as a civil war hospital. Sold again, yet to another doctor, Dr. Thomas Cheatham, the house grew again to form a “T” shaped structure. After his death, the home would fall into severe disrepair only to be restored in the 1930s and named Wrexham. The Hague family lived there and maintained what became a “mansion” in the 1960s when it was added to once again. The new addition begged for an upgraded name, which is the now, Wrexham Hall. Sold to Judge Gates in the 1970s, he would sell it and have it moved to its current location. The last addition was made by the Brennan family, an event room that would serve many for years to come. There were a few things housecleaning missed, but it wasn't enough to deeply impact our stay. The Patriarch King Room was spacious. It included a kitchen, full-size fridge, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and large wall unit with television. We loved the layout and the view of the patio from our window; however, the squeaky wooden floor and shower door were a bit noisy--nothing they can't fix. The complimentary breakfast was decent, and the seating in the Acorn Room was sufficient for couples and larger groups to socialize. One thing I will say is that we felt well cared for during our stay, never overlooked. We enjoyed walking around the grounds, hanging out on the outdoor patio, which was beautifully lit with rustic lights, and the children in our group had a great time in their indoor pool. Overall, everyone we encountered- both guests and workers- was genuinely nice, which we really appreciated. In addition, this pet-friendly hotel made it easy for us to bring our fur babies along. They pretty much went wherever we went no questions asked, it was quite liberating, to say the least.
