The ceremony view of the amazing Virginia countryside with pond, hills and the changing fall trees was an amazing backdrop. With two sides enclosed, a fireplace and heaters the late night venue was cozy but yet open air (which can be important when pandemics threaten events). Melba made the event so easy for planning. Erica, the bartender, kept all our guests happy. The site has plenty of ice for all bartending needs, a kitchen for food setup and three eclectic bathrooms. She also helped with room decore ... The room looked great! The room was kept nice and cool all night which is a problem I have experienced at others venues before. They even upgrated there video projection before our event which looked great. Everyone said it was one of the best parties they had ever been to. I would highly recommend them!

Being able to arrive the morning before the wedding and spend that day with family is what really made the difference. Most of our family members were meeting for the first time and having a space to meet up ahead of time really brought everyone together. The property was breathtaking. In fact, from the first visit, we instantly decided we had found our venue. Our guests commented on how beautiful the location was. We were really concerned about our guests as it was a long drive from the airport. The feedback we got was that the drive was worth it and they could all see why we chose the venue. The price was reasonable for what you get. I do want to point out that if you're a type A person who needs a Type A sort of situation, you might struggle with this place as they're pretty laid back. I say this as a bonus for myself. I really appreciated the fact that they didn't try to micromanage. They were always available for anything I needed during the planning process but really allowed me to do things my way. This definitely helped ease some of the stress.

They have a live bee hive inside, which is very cool. And there are some pretty cool historical cars and buggies. It isn't going to take long to go through this place; the kids may like it. There is a little to learn. Basically, if you are looking for something to do and you have time to spare, this is a great spot. But if you are on a time constraint, I would skip it. I certainly wouldn't call it 'creepy'.

On a positive note, admission is free and the Yellow Barn did have some really nice restored cars, buggies and tractors. It felt like a means for a collector to share his collectibles with the public. They were in the process of adding a stage so things were shifted around and it did have a lacquer paint smell. My group did not understand how the Yellow Barn made any money, being that they do not charge and the gift shop was basically Vinci (pandora-type) jewelry. Overall, I can appreciate a place like this because it allowed me to show my son what my father's tv looked like when he was around my son's age. If you are in the area - visiting the cavern or the delicious Route 11 potato chip factory, it would not kill you to stop in, but it probably isn't worth a long drive. It looks as though they rent the space for weddings and other large party events.

There's a large room upstairs and then a balcony all the way around the second level so you can see the first level from just about any position. So hospitable. Nice wrap-around porch well appointed with rocking chairs (which we enjoyed in only the sunrise hours as it is July and brutally hot and humid.) The B&B is fully air conditioned with individual settings for each guest room. We stayed in the Silk Room, which is enormous! In the antebellum era, silkworms were raised in there and fed harvested mulberry leaves. Modern amenities such as walk-in showers are blended well with the historic features so that there is no jarring sense of disconnect. Breakfast is served each morning by the Innkeepers and is a feast for the eye as well as the palate. Coffee, tea, and ice are available in the dining room 24 hours. There is a shared refrigerator and microwave for guests' convenience. The common parlors downstairs are tastefully furnished with good antique pieces. We loved our brief stay, the last two nights of a two-week honeymoon. Back again someday? Hope so!
