Absolutely fascinating history at these caverns! We're Civil War buffs and honestly did not know…read moreabout these caverns. It was amazing. Our tour guide (I forget her name - so sorry) was amazing. She was knowledgeable and mixed historical content with geological content. The fact that experts from The Smithsonian came here to collect the artifacts (both Native American and Civil War) and authenticate several signatures (I believe from further research I did and then saw at the site, they cataloged the signatures as well) gives this site authenticity. For anyone that is into history, just the thought that you are standing in a place where Native Americans were before Europeans came to this continent AS WELL AS where Civil War soldiers etched their name for future generations, this is a MUST SEE. Is it pricy? Sure. But I give grace there. These caverns have been owned by the same family (they are on the 10th & 11th generation) since the original Harrison family acquired the land in 1748 by a land grant from King George. This isn't a gov't owned site. And from what I have seen and read, this family is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the caves. That can't be cheap. And I will say, it's worth it for the history alone. That is what sets it apart from all the other caverns in the Shenandoah valley. Could the gift shop be better? Sure. If you have helpful suggestions for improvement, let them know. They are all incredibly friendly. Don't wait and just complain in a review, We will recommend a visit here to any and everyone who is in the area seeing the sites. In fact, this cave is still being explored and new rooms and spaces are being discovered. Our guide told us they are working on adding a new room to the tour. So do we anticipate we'll be back when in the area again? Absolutely!

Such a sweet extra amenity. Celena & Susan were so kind and responsive. We met afew of the other staff along the property and they were all so sweet and courteous as well. There are many birdhouses on the property which draw the birds to the garden. I would recommend this for Garden Club members or small groups. I would not recommend this for small children. She provided hand sanitizer and made sure we had everything we needed to keep everyone safe. I highly recommend this venue because we were allowed to make all the decisions for making the perfect wedding for my daughter and son in law, use the dance floor, have a cookie table, etc...It was very affordable with no hidden fees, very spacious and so beautiful. The rain prevented us from having the ceremony outside, but Diane and her crew quickly made the switch at the last minute and pulled it off in 15 minutes. She was so helpful throughout the entire process, always responded quickly by phone and email, had a spread sheet with all the information that we needed, gave us great suggestions, it was like having a personal wedding planner. She made sure everything went smoothly. She also has some decorations and drink dispensers which we used at no extra cost. They provided all the tables and very nice chairs, dance floor, bar, linens, plates, silverware, fire pit, changing area for bride and groom, clean bathrooms, and beautiful scenery for photos.

I have been to and participated in weddings where it felt very stressful and disorganized - this was absolutely not the case with Khimaira Farms. Linda and Corina are such wonderful people and really worked hard to make the day as easy as possible. They have great relationships with all of the vendors in town and have done this so many times that they really have it down to a science. We also switched our theme for our wedding like 4 times - we ended up seeing photos of a wedding at Khimaira Farms the week before ours that they had sent out in an email and we knew that's exactly what we wanted from our wedding. They worked with a short turn around time in creating that vision for us and I can't thank them enough. All of our guests loved the venue! TLDR; Pros: - Awesome staff, very communicative - Have a whole warehouse & pinterest page of all of their wedding accessories, wedding inspiration - Sustainable venue - Great working relationship with vendors in the area - Works with setting up food if you are bringing home cooked trays - Photo Booth - Beautiful landscapes & space to roam around for guests - Sometimes they bring their goats out! Cons: - Nothing. It was the perfect day and the best party I've ever been to.

After looking on and off during that time, we finally found Khimaira Farm (1 of 3 venues we actually visited), and quickly realized we had found something special. We loved the relaxed/fun vibe Khimaira Farm had to offer and couldn't be more satisfied with our experience there both with the venue and the staff. There are so many things for your guests to do there- games, porch swings, walking around the grounds, and I really appreciate all the thought that has gone into that. After all the hard work you put into planning the wedding, it's really rewarding to hear your guests talk about what a great time they had. Linda and her team are easy to work with, they pay attention to detail, and are genuinely good people who want you to enjoy your wedding day above all else. Here's a good example- although they have plenty of awesome decorations, I enjoy making things and really wanted to make these bike tire wedding welcome signs since I bike. I hadn't had time to make any kind of stand for them but gave Linda a brief description of my vision for them and she assured me they would find a place for them. Linda's daughter, Corina, ended up creating a gorgeous display with them right at the entrance to the ceremony that was exactly what I was imagining and I received a ton of compliments on it! Corina also took pictures (I didn't even realize she was doing that) that helped supplement the pictures from the photographer. I've written words, but I still feel like I really have no words about this place, the people there and the time we had there- so much love all around! I'm hoping we get invited to another wedding there so we can enjoy it all over again :)
