We've stayed here twice now and have no real complaints. It's easy access from the interstate. The sites can be a bit difficult to level your rig but if you've camped long enough with a rig you won't have an issue. the interstate is VERY close and you get highway noise all the time. But for a one niter it's worth hearing for the convenience to the interstate. Hookups are easy and water pressure is really good. Cable TV is pretty much basic and can be fickle with the reception but it's ok. Price is fair and reasonable. We will be staying here again. But we will definitely reserve at least a month ahead or so. This place does fill up fast.

Our site was large, shaded and best of all level. No leveling blocks needed. Sites are gravel, clean and well maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! Well stocked store, and they will make and deliver pizza right to your campsite. Typical KOA amenities, and they have a stocked catch and release pond on site for those who love to fish. Lots of activities for the kiddos, too. The road in is a little hilly and several curves, but big rigs shouldn't have any trouble navigating it - the signage on the road is great (funny sign on the road that said "1/2 miles Don't Give Up." Lol). We're more "state park people" in that we enjoy the space and solitude and we don't have kids traveling with us (just dogs), so we don't typically need all the on-site activities. But this week we needed full hook ups, and this park gave us that feel. With so much to do in the area, we didn't get to it all, so we'll be back and we'll definitely stay here again.

It is better to get there by day. It is off the road a bit. You have to park at a stop sign and…read morewalk up a hill to reach the office to check in. The dog park is very small. Lots of larger gravel. The only lighting after dark they had was some that came on as I walked by them attached to trees. We were surrounded by forest so it was kind of scary being out there at 9 in the pitch black. There are lots of weeds that give the dogs briars in their feet. They have a trail you can go on that was nice but after 20mins my dog was ready to turn around. I never found out where that would have taken me lol. That was really the safest bet for walking him. There is many large rocks there. There isn't much grass. The pond is tiny.

Having full sewer hookups at the site was a real luxury and definitely spoiled us. The resort provided bathhouses are older but clean. The back in spaces are deep and you'll have plenty of room. One of the highlights was the hiking. The trails are excellent, and the view from the top of the hill is absolutely worth the walk. The scenery and peaceful atmosphere made for a great camping experience. There are a couple of things to be aware of. First, Wi-Fi is limited. There is a location on the property where you can connect, but it isn't available throughout the campground. We relied on a personal hotspot, which worked from marginal to okay depending on the time and location. If you need a reliable internet connection for work or streaming, plan accordingly. Second, the catch-and-release pond was underwhelming. Casual anglers or families with kids may enjoy it, but serious fishermen will probably find it a waste of time. Neither of those issues was enough to take away from what was otherwise an excellent experience. The spacious sites, peaceful setting, great hiking, and full hookups made this one of our favorite camping trips. We'd gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing campground in the Shenandoah Valley. Overall: 5/5 stars.

A rural drive leads to a visitor center, trails, an overlook, river access, and campgrounds. I had time for only a brief visit, but the views were majestic. It would be an excellent place to return for a hike. As with most of Virginia's state parks, there is a modest entrance fee, but I'm sure it's well worth it.

This location is incredible, rich with things to do, views to see, and adventures to have with enough time. The cabins are gorgeous, fair warning that there is no television, but honestly who cares?! I had great phone signal which almost never happens on these excursions, and I loved making a fire in my fireplace and sitting on the porch with coffee for sunrise, which I could see from Cabin 11. This cabin also was at the end and felt private, even though I could see my neighbors (who had set up Christmas lights! How fun!) There's also a wonderful hiking trail right by these cabins, 10 and 11, the Red Tail Ridge, that was semi-short (2.5 miles or so if desired to create a loop with Big Oak) and had views of the river and Shenandoah valley below!
