Loved the cauliflower app. The salmon came prepared to order. The veggies were just right. Good here is truly better than New Orleans. Sat at the bar the ladies took good care of us.
The food at So Lou was so so so good. It is a must try. The service was awesome. The ambiance of the restaurant was such a fun and exciting vibe. Watching all the pink drinks and cotton candy going by and sparklers go off for peoples birthday. My husband ordered the grilled cheese with lump crab meat and tomato soup and I got the cauliflower on the appetizer menu and we shared. The tomato soup is one of the best I've ever had! And the cauliflower was Definitely the best I've ever had had this amazing Asian sauce on top and it was cooked to perfection . When you go and I did say when you go, not if you go when you go, you must try to cauliflower. I'm telling you you will fall in love with it..
Went for brunch and loved it! Cute, upscale casual atmosphere. Our waitress was attentive but didn't rush us. Food was delicious. I had the avocado toast, which was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. We also had the crab cheesecake for an appetizer which was very good. I had been here before for dinner, and while the cocktails were good, I honestly thought the brunch food was better overall. Would definitely come back for brunch again!
Visited here while in town for a cheer competition and the food was good. I felt like the menu was limited in options but we were able to find something that fit our taste buds. Started with the hot crab dip with crackers as an appetizer , truffle fries, fish tacos and pork roast with mashed potatoes. It was all good but I'm not sure that was real catfish for the tacos. The signature Xmas alcoholic drinks were good as well as the homemade cracklin. I loved the cotton candy at the end with the strawberry purée so good. We are gonna visit again when we are back in the area

They truly since day one have treated me not only like an amazing customer; but like a forever friend now I look up to & get so excited to see every time we go! My husband and I were up in the area after doing some cardio and sight seeing and we wanted to try one of the local places and this look good so we popped in. Was surprised that on a Friday during lunch it was pretty quiet but that made it easy to get seating. The staff at the front and our server were all very nice. For drinks, I went with the Blackberry Margarita and the Bitchin' Cotton Candy. The margarita was much better. The Cotton Candy was too much of a sweet bomb. We started with the Hot Crawfish Dip which was very good. Not overwhelming or greasy and very flavorful. I ordered the Large Sensation Salad with shrimp which was great. The dressing made the dish in my opinion. My husband went with the Caesar Salad with shrimp and he said it was on point and quite good. We would return here for sure and had a nice time.
We had high hopes for So Lou as fans of Peter Sclafini. The ambiance is welcoming with a high end setting. There's a bird theme carried throughout, even the restrooms, giving a garden-ish, whimsical feel. The layout remains from the location's predecessor, Grub, with just chairs replaced. I personally would have preferred if they'd done away with all of the high tops because I'm not a fan since I'm short. The cocktail menu was creative and the Pamper-Mousse I ordered was balanced and refreshing on a hot evening. The wine list was short but had solid offerings. I found the appetizer selections more interesting than the entrees. We shared the shrimp corn dogs, which were on the Ruffino's menu during Peter Sclafini's tenure there. In fact, there were quite a few recognizable items on the menu which was a plus to me. The shrimp corn dogs were just as good as I remembered - hot, crunchy, batter and shrimp both full of flavor. I had the burrata salad as an entree. It was fine, but I often make this at home myself and it turns out just as well. The balsamic pearls referenced in the menu description were missing, which was disappointing but the shrimp were cooked perfectly and redeemed the dish. My husband ordered the burger and he said it was good, but not his preferred style of more traditional toppings which he knew going in. The reasons for three stars come down to the boring entrees and the service, which was lacking. Our server disappeared for long stretches and didn't remove empty plates, a pet peeve of mine as a former server. Our dirty appetizer plates remained for our entire meal. We waited almost 30 minutes after we finished eating for our server to return, deliver the check, and disappear yet again before finally processing our payment. She could have sold me another drink or possibly dessert had she been present. I'm sure we will give Sou Lou another try in the future, and hopefully receive better service.
We have been waiting for So Lou to open and after we return from vacation, we decided to try them for Brunch, and was far more than expected. There is plenty of seating area, and really liked the raised booth near the bar. We were seated quickly and tried the Bloody Mary, which they bring your choice of vodka, and you go to the setup Bloody Mary bar and build your drink as you prefer. The give you a small bowl of seasoned popcorn, nice touch here as we waited for our appetizer which was the crab cheese cake, which was delicious, and perfectly balanced with the cream and lemon sauce. The mascarpone French toast with berries and maple syrup was absolutely fantastic every bite was delicious and not overly sweet. Now the star of the meal was the Salmon, and let me say right off the bat the best I've had anywhere. The salmon was very well seasoned and melt in your mouth tender, and a perfect med temperature, and the Brussels sprouts mixed with bacon and horseradish and small cubed sweet potatoes, was a perfect combination. Perfect ending with the free cotton candy. We definitely have to come back to try more of the menu, may be good to make a reservation as I can see them filling fats during peak hours.
I found Solou while searching for a last-minute lunch spot to meet a friend at. Literally found it while sitting in the Costco parking lot, and wow--what a find! From the moment we walked in, I was impressed. The atmosphere is super cute, with fun neon signs adding to the charm. The food is absolutely incredible! The shrimp corn dogs and cotton candy caught my eye online, but our amazing server, Alex was great and provided spot-on recommendations. The crabmeat cheesecake was such a unique dish and an absolute must-try (I only wish it came with crackers) Thankfully, Alex went above and beyond, and brought us crostinis that paired perfectly. To top it all off, I asked server Alex to surprise us with a fun cotton candy creation, and he made us the Target dog! Such a small but thoughtful touch that has left a lasting impression. Me and my friends have been raving about this place to everyone, and I can't wait to go back. Oh, and if management is reading this--Alex deserves a raise for going above and beyond!
I've heard great things about this place in Baton Rouge so we decided to give it a try in Lafayette. It's located in the old Grub burger and they kept a lot of the original interior. I was really impressed by the menu selection--so many unique options! We had the shrimp corn dogs and boudin queso to start and split a mascarpone French toast for our entree. At the end of the meal, they surprised us with a huge serving of cotton candy. Sweet touch!

I came here for the first time for a birthday brunch and I can't wait to go back. I'm all about aesthetics when it comes to a restaurant. Don't get me wrong. It doesn't have to be beautiful, but if it is, it makes my experience so much more enjoyable. SoLou did not disappoint-one of the prettiest restaurants in Lafayette. Even the bathroom was gorgeous and I wanted to take pictures, but there were people in there and I just think they would've thought I was a weirdo if I would've been snapping pictures of the pretty wallpaper. The food was pretty good. I had a salad and we split a crab meat cheesecake but like I said it was the brunch menu. I definitely wanna try more before I speak too much food wise. The vibes though! SoLou was okay but I'm hoping it gets better with time. This is a new restaurant so I don't want to give a bad review based off this one experience. The service needs improvement because the service was slow. Our wait time was initially 10 minutes but we ended up waiting more like 40 minutes. There were several guest leaving because of the wait time and the crowded area. The restaurant is very small but they do have outdoor seating. The high temperatures make it impossible to sit outdoors this time of year though. The food and drink selection were not that impressive to me. The shrimp corndogs and boudin queso were both a 10/10 and would both make me visit again. Overall the restaurant was clean and the aesthetics were very unique and pleasing. read more

We went July 10 at around 6pm. Was seated fairly quickly. When asked what we wanted to drink, we all wanted ice water, we were served in little blue glasses, tap water, no ice. We received our menus and ordered, My husband had a half rack of ribs, my son had the steak, and I had the shrimp and grits. The food portions were not what we expected for the price we paid. My shrimp and grits were not quite what I expected for south Louisiana, that's my favorite dish and that's what I order most of the time when we eat out. My husband said his ribs were not very good. My sons steak strips were ok he said. However, when we got the check, we were charged for a full rack of ribs, when i brought it to the servers attention, she said, oh that's my mistake, we still paid for the full rack of ribs. I did have a 10 off coupon inviting us into the eatery, but even with it, the meal cost us over a hundred dollars. We eat out all the time, and it usually runs 60-90.00 without a coupon. So for the price of the food and the food value, with taste and quantity you get, its going to be a pass for us next time we dine out. pictured is suppose to be half rack ribs ,received whole rack 45.00 the shrimp and grits 24.99 and the steak frites 34.99. . read more

First, lovely staff...friendly and welcoming. Beautiful restaurant...Marcus the bartender, the best. And then the food...you are given freshly made cracklins as an amuse bouche...I ordered the fish tacos with mango and WOW! honestly, the best I have had....I chose green beans instead of the Brussel sprouts and I haven't ever had beans this good. The rose wine was a Rhone wine and I recommend this if you like rose...we did not have room for dessert, but, with the bill, we were given strawberry cotton candy on a stick! The ambiance was fantastic. The service was superb. Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable about cocktails and menu. She visited our table at just the right times. The boudin appetizer was fantastic. I had the strawberry Hill cocktail which was very tasty and presentation was perfect. My friend and I shared Kat's salad. The presentation was appealing, the taste was a slight bit disappointing. The shrimp were tough and not enough dressing or other ingredients (mango, tomato etc). The complimentary cotton candy at the end was a sweet surprise. I will definitely be back to try other entrees. I would have given a 4.5 star but it didn't allow me to. read more
