This place is an incredible place for celebrating a special occasion like new years eve. I made reservations for the 3 of us at 5pm. We had exceptional service and were greeted with friendly smiles. We had a waiter and drink server taking care of us. I think the waiters name was Corey, he was professional, knowledgeable, and entertaining. I was so impressed with their wine menu. It's on a tablet and you can filter your search by grape or price or by the glass. But I was most impressed that Corey explained the workings of the tablet to us upside down from his angle so it's right side up for us. I told him that I was so impressed that he is able to explain it upside and we both laughed, he said by the end of the night that we were a great table to start the night out. On to the food... the aged ribeye was incredible..had a nice char good flavor. I had the new orleans bbq shrimp and rissoto. It had crab meat on top, but I honestly don't think it needed the crab meat. I absolutely loved the tiramasu martini for dessert. It was strong and one of the best chocolate martinis I've ever had. The food, the service the atmosphere are all 10/10. We could not have asked for a better experience. For an appetizer we ordered the pork belly lettuce wraps. I've been a lot of places in the world and I have to say that this is in my top 5 of absolute best appetizers I've ever eaten. I wanted to order more and just eat it as my meal. We then got the salad with the berries and blue cheese crumbles and it was delicious. There were 3 of us and for entrees we each got something different. I got the special of the night which was fettuccine pasta in a special pistachio and sun dried tomato basil cream sauce with grilled chicken. It wasn't just good. It was ridiculously good. Make yourself sick good. Scrape your plate to get every bite good. My husband got the seafood special of the night which was grilled red fish over pork belly corn grits. He said it was one of the most delicious things he's ever eaten. And then our friend got the 8oz filet and said it was perfect. Let us not forget the fresh French bread and butter that they bring to the table or the to die for desserts. We had the brownie with the peanut butter and salted caramel concoction and the white chocolate bread pudding. They were both extraordinary. We will be back...over and over again. Charley G's is one of our go-to restaurants for date night and special occasions. There is no other establishment in Lafayette that provides such a consistent experience; the food and service are top notch. Our most recent visit was on a Friday night. We started out with a Negroni and a Manhattan, both of which were perfectly executed. For appetizers, we shared the escargot and the wedge salad. The escargot are an excellent garlic butter delivery vehicle, and we used plenty of the warm, airy French bread to sop up all of the buttery goodness. The wedge is made with romaine and is crunchy and flavorful, with plenty of bleu cheese and bacon. We switched to wines by the glass from the extensive selection available. The wine program is thoughtful and the staff is extremely knowledgeable about the offerings. The wine list is available in a traditional hard copy or electronically on an iPad. The iPad format is easy to use and allows the user to sort and filter based on a number of factors such as region, type of grape, etc. For our entrees, we chose the pan seared sea bass , a permanent menu item, and the seasonal pasta, a seafood stuffed squid ink cappellacci. The sea bass had a crisp, golden exterior while remaining moist and tender. The pasta is house made, which is a rarity in Lafayette, and it was outstanding. The menu description - tomato concasse, Herbsaint scented leek ragout, saffron, jumbo lump crab, whipped ricotta - is a mouthful and doesn't begin to convey how well the flavors meld together with everything in balance. I generally avoid tomato in seafood dishes because it can be overpowering, but that isn't the case in this dish. Rather, the tomato concasse provides acidity and freshness. We opted for dessert to go and selected the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake and the chocolate praline tower. These didn't make the pictures, but they were delicious! Finally, the staff at Charley G's is what takes the experience over the top. They are knowledgeable without a trace of snootiness. They are helpful and attentive without being supercilious. If you take the time to engage, they remember you and treat you like VIPs each visit. The food and service make this our favorite Lafayette restaurant. read more

The manager, Justin was also really nice and came greet our table. We went for our anniversary and got top notch service from all staff. They even signed a card for us!!! That wedge salad is phenomenal!!! Literally fantastic with the blue cheese and ranch. The crab cake appetizer was also amazing. I was delighted with the apps. I ordered grilled chicken breasts over risotto with corn macque choux. Chicken and corn were a tiny bit dry, but still good flavor. The risotto was amazing! My brother asked to put blue cheese in his risotto and it was even better that way! Also the complimentary bread and butter was so fluffy and perfect. We ordered the Charley G's sampler for two as our appetizer, and it did not disappoint! My favorite was the Brie. My husband ordered the surf and turf with the smashed potatoes. I ordered the lobster tail (Monday night's special) with butternut squash purée and Manchego corn grits. The grits were a little too cheesy for my preference. The butternut squash and lobster tail were perfect! Finally, for dessert, I chose the triple chocolate cheesecake, which lived up to its name (deliciously rich!), and my husband chose the pecan pie, which they serve warm with a scoop of ice cream. They have a few items that are seasonal and some that are permanent, but all are fantastic consistently. The restaurant is an oasis in an upscale looking strip mall. Very nice restaurant with music 7 days a week. On our visit is was a piano player who set the mood for the evening. Great wine list and service-food came out fast, but they did not rush us on taking orders. We started with Onion soup-thick and delicious. Also the Duck & Andouille Gumbo which was smoky and rich. Entrees were the pasta special-Gnocchi with a creamy brandy sauce and crayfish. Gnocchi was nicely browned and sauce was great. Crayfish were deep fried which were good, but would have rather had them sauteed to get more of the crayfish flavor. Other entree was Caesar salad which was an appetizer sized porting which could have come on a larger plate with some garnish since it was taken as an entree. Overall very good restaurant. read more

White linen tables and a low lighting level greeted us upon arrival at the restaurant. We ordered the appetizer plate of spring rolls, coconut shrimp, and garlic and brie to start. Hot bread was left at the table to take off the hunger's edge. The sampler plate arrived shortly thereafter. We placed our orders as the appetizers quickly disappeared. I ordered the crab cakes which came with creole green beans and a bell pepper coulis. It was a lot creamier than the crab cakes I am used to but the taste was fantastic.
