Visited a local establishment just outside old downtown in Lafayette, LA. The name Whiskey and Vine describes old time cuisine of Lafayette with piano vibes filter the air. We came about 5 to have some happy hour (3-6) tastes and cocktails at $5 each. BBQ pulled Pork over crispy nachos with lite bbq sauce, jalapeño peppers sliced, and melted cheese. So yummy and good portion. My daughters drink was a nice red blend house wine that was excellent And I had a delicious Lemon Drop. A cup of their rich flavourful duck gumbo that has a bite, and Ruben sandwich that was fair.... very meaty, with great crispy fries. Staff from front door to table is excellent! Went for happy hour and had a great experience! The place has a really nice atmosphere. We originally ordered two of everything from the happy hour food menu, but the Jazzy Shrimp was so good that we ended up ordering more. The food was delicious and the drinks were made perfectly. Even better, between 8 drinks and 7 appetizers, our bill was under $100 before tip, which is an amazing deal. The service was great as well, our waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely a happy hour worth checking out! read more

We came here for brunch a few months ago. This place is huge so it would be good for big groups. I picked it due to the website saying there would be live music, but when we got there, they said there wasn't going to be any music when we arrived, oh well. Still the service was great and the food was pretty great too. We ordered the praline chicken and the brunch brunch burger. Yall. Look at the pic of the praline chicken, Holy cr@p! It is covered up by french toast on top of the praline chicken! Can add any more sides of heart attack! It was soooo good! It was two dishes in one! Everyone should order this, but be prepared to gain 5lbs; I still haven't lost the weight. The brunch burger was good too. It was not as show stopping as the praline chicken though. Beautiful restaurant! Our waiter was really nice, but seemed a bit overwhelmed so some of our order was forgotten/wrong. The live music was great, but later into the night it started to get a little loud, though that's expected for live music. Whiskey and Vine is a place that I had almost refused to try because (sad face) it replaced one of my favorite restaurants in Lafayette. I'm stubborn and sentimental however, Whiskey and Vine has won me all the way over. To start this place has the best happy hour in Lafayette hands-down. There are several menu choices (several!!!) that are---hold onto your mouth because it's about to drop open---$5!!! That is completely unheard of in a Lafayette restaurant and there are at least five drinks that are the same price. Happy hours starts at 2 and ends at 6. Get here around 4:30 or 5 o'clock have yourself an early dinner for five bucks and thank me later. My favorite thing on the happy hour menu is the whiskey pig nachos and the pepper jack flatbread. The bar is fun to sit at if the tables are packed because the bartenders are all so entertaining. Whiskey and Vine is a must. The happy hour value alone makes it worth going. read more

Highly recommend. We had the crab cakes, grouper and pecan pie and everything was delicious as well as the lemon drop. The live music was perfect and the whole vibe was relaxing. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive always making sure our water was filled and the food was good. We were visiting from San Diego and used to getting rushed out the door after eating but there was no rush at all and we got the check when we were good and ready. Dim romantic lighting sets the mood for a first date OR any special occasion and to top it all off Carnelian Jazz Funk Duo was playing jazz PLUS popular recognizable upbeat hits to give a fun vibe for ladies night out or catching up with friends from out of town and it was SO good! There's sofas near the band for relaxing and enjoying a drink from the beautiful bar! The place is decorated first class...even the ceilings are pretty to look at! The service was phenomenal and the food was good. They were out of chicken which was surprising but the grilled shrimp were a great alternative to chicken! Everything we ordered was excellent except the duck gumbo was just average! Super thick and more like a thick rice dish rather than gumbo but overall this place is definitely on our top 5 list! The live music is great, although the acoustics of the place can make it hard to carry on a conversation at times. We've always had excellent service. This was our second try with Whiskey and Vine and this time it did not disappoint. Our server Meagan did a great job keeping up with our orders. She made sure we took advantage of the happy hour specials and there was an overall team effort to fulfill orders for every table. The atmosphere was still upbeat but the management has taken a cue from previous customer comments and lowered the music volume to allow for easier conversations. The food is still excellent, my wife's grouper and my filet Mignon was perfect. We're very happy with the improvements, just one small suggestion, more paved parking please. read more

My breakdown: Food: if you're looking for good food, this is not going to be your "go to" or "work into the rotation" place. The menu sounds excellent upon glance, but that's about where it stops. The duck- the skin was as if it were rubber, and looked and tasted frozen and reheated with zero effort. The purée was good, but wouldn't visit again only for that. The chicken was 7/10 descent, but who's coming to a place to order chicken? The apps completely missed the mark. First off, at 5:30 PM, they were already out of stuffed mushrooms. (1. How and why are you out of stuff at 5:30 PM 2. This signifies poor planning from the food/beverage manager to me because why's there any inventory issue for an appetizer?) the shrimp app was nothing to write home about, and the Brie appetizer needs to be renamed. There was little a small sliver of Brie. The balance of Brie to the apple filling and pastry is off. Drinks: again, all sound delightful. The Manhattan was almost undrinkable, lemon drop martini was mediocre and out of the limited selection of beer the one we requested wasn't even iced yet. (Again, why are small things like this slipping through the cracks) Ambiance: outstanding, which is why I gave it three and not two stars. Overall, if you're deciding between this place and another in town, I'd go with the other option. It would only be for an organized family or friend event I'd go back here. read more

We visited Whiskey and Vine for my wife's birthday and had a great evening! The atmosphere is dimly lit and very romantic, channeling old school New Orleans vibes. The service was great, and food came out the kitchen at the perfect pace. The cocktails menu was nice and inventive, bar service was quick and drinks tasted fantastic! I do not eat meat so this place is hard for me to eat at, the only other option is a salad. They do have flat breads but they can't alter the flat bread to not have meat since they are prepped earlier in the day. Or so I was told. If you do not have any dietary restrictions it's a must try the other food seems good but it is very small portions and pretty pricey. I go mainly for the vibe. It gives a jazzy Louisiana vibe which is super nice. the live music is awesome. There are some places that have live music at restaurants and it's way too loud to where you can't even talk, this place is not like that. There's an adage that goes, "A first impression is a lasting impression." Well, my initial impression of Whiskey & Vine leaves much to be desired. We arrived at the end of happy hour for a 6 p.m. reservation on a Wednesday evening. The establishment was not terribly busy, and seating was reserved on the first floor. The ambiance was lovely and chic-like. But that's the end of the nice experience. We ordered duck wings as an appetizer, and they were the chewiest wings I've ever tried to eat. I see this place every morning on drive to work, and was always curious, so we decided to try the weekend brunch, and a awesome experience proceeded. We were not aware about reservations, however we were able to be seated up top near the bar, kudos to the amazing hostess. One of the top 5 spots as far as ambiance, upstairs a bit darker, but amazing feel. Pineapple Mimosas were great. I choose the tea smoked fried chicken, and pancakes, chicken was crispy, and the best pancakes I've had in Lafayette, so ask for extra syrup, my wife had the bananas foster French toast, very delicious, the caramelization gave this an extra dimension. Excellent option for Sunday brunch: relaxing vibe, nice N.O. jazz trio with talented female vocalist, who was exceptional 3 out of every 4 songs, but a little over the top volume-wise on the 4th. Aubree, our server was personable and efficient. My wife was very happy with her brunch burger, however for some reason they unnecessarily removed the sunny side egg at the same time they left off the onion and bacon jam because of her IBS. Additionally, she substituted a green salad for the French fries to avoid the gluten, but she was brought a salad that included both onion and tasso (which contains onion and/or garlic). No glitches with mine: the crab cake Benedict was delicious, especially in their rendition over a fried green tomato. I liked the accompanying bacon & Parmesan grits, but served as a scoop of ice cream was not my favorite grits presentation. Still, you go for the food, and the food we had was delicious. We each had 2 glasses of wine. The tab was $85 before tip. We're always excited about new restaurants in Lafayette. Initial impression was great atmosphere, decor, and lighting. The jazz music was pretty loud and so even though we were on the opposite end of the restaurant, everyone around us was yelling to compensate for the saxophone, loudness, so it was tough to hear my wife, she's very soft-spoken. also, kind of hard to handle at the end of a long day of work unless it's what you are expecting. Interestingly, they had some black-and-white movies playing on TV which I like because it doesn't draw my attention to something like sporting events or news Drinks were excellent, my wife had a spicy margarita, and I had a Ramos gin fizz, which is very difficult to do properly. Some sort of strange cheese and nuts (maybe) were complimentary, which fell flat. Service was good although we had two different people come to our table, so I wasn't sure if we had 2 waiters or a beverage, waiter and a food later but it is not fine dining enough for all of that. Turtle soup was pretty good, turtle was beefy texture. wife had the hamburger. It was nothing special. Kind of like a hamburger stand hamburger, sort of dry. I had the whiskey chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken had no color to it, but it was moist and tender. The whiskey sauce was very sweet maybe a little too sweet. The roast vegetables had very little color , they were more like microwaved, a bit soggy. Also, the sauce was very liquidy and so immediately soaked into the bottom of the vegetables. The plate presentation was also more like a plate lunch. Regular old white plate with sauce sloshing around the bottom. Not very attractive. Fairly tasty and fairly priced for the quality. I may come here again, but I won't add it to our regular rotation just yet. read more
