I ordered food from So Far So Good for the first time last night. I read the reviews about the food from the people on the site before ordering. I have found it impossible to find quality Chinese food since moving to Nassau county from Queens so I figured I would give this restaurant a try. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The food was horrible and tasteless. Additionally I got sick from the food and was up all night with severe stomach problems. One of the items i ordered, scallion pancakes, looked and tasted like fried cardboard! It contained no scallions at all? Don't know what it had in it but it was awful. I guess I will continue to have to go back to Queens to get quality Chinese food read more

Cute place. Haven't been able to find a Chinese sit down restaurant in a long time. I was happy to find that one still actually existed. They immediately bring to your table crispy noodles with duck sauce and mustard, and a pot of hot tea. I recommend the wonton soup for two. The broth is so delicious, not extra soy sauce needed. The soup is large enough to fill a small bowl twice, and the serving size is for two people. The soup has wontons, shrimp, mushroom, snow peas, carrots, pork and chicken. The reason for three stars? For dinner, I ordered broccoli with garlic sauce and I asked for it mild- it came out anything but mild and I wasn't able to eat more than a few pieces. read more

Convenient location. The food was just okay. The wait staff were friendly and courteous. We went here for dinner on a Sunday and was seated immediately. I picked up takeout from this place and when I got home I found a surprise. As I was eating their chicken and white rice, I bit on a cigarette bud in the food. The best Chinese food in the area hands down. A Chinese restaurant you can actually dine at and it be great quality. Delivery is fast. They have also sushi on there very large extensive menu. Not cheap, but that's what you get for order not "take out" Chinese. Large quantities though I do have to say. Food is descent. Moderately priced. The waiter wasn't the best. He told me they couldn't make a change to a sushi roll, when in reality he could. Then didn't know what kind of fish was used. It's got a wonderful scenery display and a gorgeous fish tank. I usually get this type of jumbo butterfly shrimp covered in this special sauce and bacon bits. While the fun and kitschy ambiance is an enjoyable setting in which to eat Chinese-American-take-out-food in, once you take a bite into the food you realize that you are eating overpriced mediocre Chinese-American-take-out-food. Why get my lazy butt off the sofa to go eat take-out food in a restaurant, when I can eat cheaper better quality take-out at home? I have to admit that while the tawdry milieu of this stereotypically Chinese restaurant is borderline tacky (or outlandishly tacky depending on your taste) and old school, I really enjoyed it. It's fun. I liked the red glow and the ornate adornments and the oriental themed ornaments. I felt like I was in a Jonh Hughes film eating across from the aquarium of parrot fishes as Long Duk Dong serves me my food amongst the sound of a gong. Dadadada-da-da-dun-dun-daa!! The food was very disappointing. I didn't have high expectations walking into the restaurant (it's a Chinese restaurant in LYNBROOK), but I did expect good flavorful food. One thing that didn't appear very promising was the excess of Caucasian diners and the lack of Asian diners. So far...Not Good. The complimentary jasmine teas were very welcomed in our table. The deep fried wonton strips were exiled to the remote corner. I ordered the the Moo Shu Duck ( for $11.25) which came with cold and dry tortilla-esque wrappers. Our waiter kindly constructed my moo shu wraps for me at our table. That was the highlight of the dish. The duck tasted like smoky mystery meat and had the texture of tenderized car tires. For those not in the know: these tenderized car tires were very rubbery and chewy, however edible.The meat was so bland and blah, that not even the salty sweet hoisin sauce or cabbage could have saved it. Not good. NOT GOOD AT ALL. Once again my bf ordered the better dish, the kung pao chicken. It had a touch a heat, the chicken was well cooked, and the flavors were good. It was better than my dish, but we had better kung pao chicken elsewhere. I was not very pleased with the food, and was even more upset by the price. While I wouldn't oppose to coming back to this restaurant again, I will pick the dishes that seems like the hardest to screw up. All in all, I've experienced better and greater. read more

The service is mainly the reason I have given such low stars. We were starving after some shopping in area and stopped in here for quick bite. We were seated immediately. We were ready to order immediately as we were starving and we saw many waitresses just walking around catering to all the other customers who had ordered and received food already. I had my menu folded my head up intending to catch their attention and I did. But they all ignored me. They kept running to table of people with food, filling their water asking if all is well. Finally after 15-20 minutes of being completely ignored, a waitress came. The wait time for our food was shorter than wait time to order and to get the bill. Then our food came and we were ready to pack the rest and go home. We kept waiting for the waitress to come to our table. I even flagged her down with my hand as she attends to other customers and she waived her hand in dismissal of me. Afterwards one waitress who observed all this came and I told I want to pack my food she said ok and went inside to call our waitress. But instead of our original waitress this waitress comes back and takes our food to the back to have it packed. Then again we sat waiting another 15-25 minutes for no reason. Apparently our original waitress decided without telling us to just ditch us and pass us to this other waitress just because she inquired about our face looking so upset. Finally the second waitress comes back with food and bill. And I tell her, don't leave I have credit card ready I don't want to wait another hour for your attention. I wonder if they were expecting any tip at all for such horrible service? I don't blame the second waitress. We were shoved onto her by the original waitress and she had no interest in serving us. I felt she was just being nice. Ok quick FYI on the food, it's very lightly flavored and was ok. Nothing I would drive out of my way for. There is a local Chinese take out on Hillside which is way better tasting. Adieu, adios , good bye I will never come back here to be mistreated again. I've been ordering from this restaurant for many years. The food is generally good if not great. Yesterday I ordered one of my usual dishes for takeout. The food was virtually inedible. I called the restaurant to ask them why the food was not as usual. They didn't have an answer but told me they'd give me a 20% discount on my next order. In other words eat the garbage we made tonight and we'll save you $5 on the next order. I thought this was insulting,told them so and brought the food back to the restaurant for a refund which I received. At no time did they try to explain or justify the awful food. They seemed annoyed and bothered by my dissatisfaction. I'm sure there are other restaurants in town so for now it's So far So Bad. read more

Service is good, I usually get take out, it is very quick, wait is no longer than 10 mins at a non busy time of day . It's like a hit or miss sometimes with good food. This place has to be the best American-asian restaurant around. The food is always delicious, the service is friendly and the food comes out QUICK. Not scary quick, but in a very timely manor. There is a slight wait on a Saturday night, but most other nights there isnt. The wonton soup is awesome as well as the chicken and veggies, tofu and veggies and the egg rolls. Also the cocktails were on point and waiter was very nice and attentive. We come here almost everyweekend since we found out about this place and it never dissapoints! Also, if you call the person that answers the phone is always nice and not screaming rudely into the phone like other Chinese food places. They also understand English well and actually get the order correct. They are pleasant and don't just hang up on you once you place the order. You actually get a Thank You. I have been going here for about ten years. It is definitely the best Chinese food around. I have never tried the Japanese stuff on the menu. The restaurant itself is pleasant, the service is really good, they deliver fast. My only complaint is that lately the lunches have been disappointing. I ordered the chicken with cashew nuts on the lunch menu, and the chicken was awful. Pieces of the chicken that should not be served were included. The cashews were not crunchy either. Just because lunch is cheaper, they shouldn't use ingredients that are unacceptable. I regret not sending the meal back, but I was in a hurry so I had it packed up, and it was equally as disappointing warmed up. read more

Though I am a city-boy at heart, I currently live in Lynbrook and commute to Manhattan daily. I usually spend most of my weekend in the city as well, but there are times when I don't feel like leaving my house, and when that happens, I turn to good ol' "So Far, So Good" for some yummy Chinese/Japanese food. They deliver very quickly and the food is always very fresh. Unlike some other Chinese places here on Long Island, this food is not swimming in grease and oil. They have the standard pseudo-Chinese dishes like General Tso's and Sesame Chicken, but they also have some more interesting dishes like Two-Flavor Duck and lots of vegetarian options. The food is good, the portions are generous and everything is reasonably priced. While the sushi here is not bad, I would much rather go to a restaurant that specializes in just sushi as they do more volume and have fresher fish. As far as the name goes, so far it's rung true for me as I've yet to be disappointed with anything I've ordered from the place. read more

This is a very good chinese restaurant. It is a nicely decorated, large room and it is very kid friendly. The price is also very reasonable. The food has been very good to excellent. Everything tastes very fresh and the sushi was good too. I agree with the prior post that the food is not greasy at all. They have lunch combinations where you get a soup and entree, and of course you get complimentary tea and noodles on the table! I have found the waiters to be attentive and efficient. read more
