It is one of my favorite Chinese places in the area. Food is tasty, selection is good. Service is good.

This place sucks! I drove over there after reading all these great reviews. It was ridiculously overpriced. $35 for take out (only two meals)? Insane. My shrimp was undercooked and still had the delightful intestinal track intact. Never again!! Maybe I'm too used to quality but I'd much rather drive 20min back into Howard Beach Queens to enjoy some Danny's Szechuan. read more

I have been eating here since I was a little girl. The last two times I've ordered from them they have not only messed up but also given me an issue about a refund. Last time I ordered a small container of steamed bean sprouts. They sent me an order of beef and bean sprouts and charged me over $8 for it. I called and asked why I received that and she said it was because only the bean sprouts would have been more. I asked why considering whenever I order plain steamed bean sprouts from other places I've been to its never more than a few bucks, $4 at the most. She huffed and ignored answer and said she'd give me a credit I said no send the driver back he just left less than a minute ago and I wanted a refund since I didn't order that and wasn't paying for it. After arguing that they shouldn't have changed he order she finally sent him back. Tonight I ordered chicken and broccoli, a favorite there since I was maybe 5. When it came it wasn't in the brown sauce it always is in, not even the white one that some places make but just pure oil. It wasn't even edible it was so bitter. My husband called and they said they would send a correct one and asked how we wanted it cooked. A little confused he said the regular way that it always come in the sauce. We get it and it's actually correct, but then they wouldn't take back the inedible one AND charged us $11.95 for it!!! They sent the wrong food and made us pay AGAIN to get the right one. Been a regular customer for a few years, mostly takeout. But my review is negative for one reason - last night I picked up a takeout order and asked for extra duck sauce. The hostess said she would give me a styrofoam cup full of duck sauce - so far, so good! But then - she told me it would be an extra $1.50. I was, to put it mildly, taken aback. I said, "then give me a bunch of plastic packets." Respose - don't have the packets. Then I got abusive and told them that I did not appreciate it, as a regular customer, being treated in such a low class way. She did give me 4 small plastic cups of the stuff. But I left with a bad taste in my mouth, and probably won't go back. If you are the owner of this establishment, actions like this are how you lose customers forever. This short asian lady on tuesday working the desk was rude and forced my daughter and her classmate from the high school nearby who went out to eat and the lady forced the 2 15 year olds who had barely any money to go home to tip her!! Dinner with my husband and other couple on a Saturday night and we were all very happy. Nice size restaurant, service was great and everyone who helped us was warm and friendly. This place seems to strikes a nostalgia chord with lots, and the elaborate decor and decent service make it a good family destination, but we didn't think the food was anything beyond picture-menu/take-out fare. I made the mistake of ordering Thai food from a Chinese restaurant (I should have known better, but bland and w/o peanuts it shouldn't have been on the menu). Wife kept it simple with pork fried rice, and we had the wonton soup--nothing awful but not good enough to warrant a return trip. read more

The price range for the quality of the asian food is not worth it. I can get the same kind of food else where much cheaper. The food tastes decent. The staff is efficient but I wouldn't say the most friendiest. I have tried a few dishes and sometimes it is not what I expect. The cold noodles is decent, but the noodles are a bit thick. The portions vary, for the lunch specials. All in all I only come here if I need something quick. I have never had bad food from here. It's always fresh, delicious, and well portioned. Their prices are reasonable, but if you are like me and get order happy, it adds up quickly. I would have considered giving a 4 or maybe even 5 star review, but as good as their service is when dining in, their delivery is terrible. On more than one occasion, they have messed up my delivery order. Also, the people handling phone orders can be very rude at times. The delivery people are less than pleasant at times as well. All said, I will continue to order because they offer very decent food, but every time I dial their number, I know I'm in for an annoying experience. read more

I have wanted to give my opinion of this restaurant for years. At so far so good, the food to take out is great, fast, however, if you dont tip the deiivery guy what he wants, he gets a real atitude. Also, I believe the manager of this restaurant is a family member of the owner as they look alike. The manager is an angry nasty person, who was at their other restaurant in Hewlett Little fu's, and it was a day over 100 degrees, and I came in withmy daughter in a carriage as my car broke down. I was looking for a place to cool off, and they didnt have their ac on. I asked if he could put it on, and he refused like I was a dog or something because there were only 2 tables there.. Another time at so far so good, I asked for orange chicken with no spice, and they usually were ok about it, but 2 times then they gave it tome me spicy and when I got home had to go back to return it. He was yelling at me (I was timid and nice but just asked politely if I could get a different one, and he refused and ranted and practically threw me out.. I swore I wouldnt go back, and I didnt for years. But then I couldnt find any close Chinese food I liked, and so my boyfriend picked it up or we had it delivered. When you eat there in so far so good, the waitresses and waiters look at you as if you were yesterdays trash. They point and talk about the customers as if they dont know they are insulting them. Many people have said the same thing that I just said. They dont eat there due to that disgusting behavior, but they take out. I think this place including the owner are too damned coc ky, and dont respect the people paying for their salary and tips. . . US! read more

Good old fashioned Chinese restaurant. They don't go for the flair nor is it over decorated. The food comes out quickly and tastes great. The menu has countless options and can be a bit overwhelming in that regard, especially if you also want to consider the sushi selections. All that said, it is a nice place to get some hot soup and tea and enjoy a good meal that won't bankrupt you. My wife and I went here on cold Friday night and it was pretty packed, full of all types of people and lots of families. So Far So Good offers some of the best Chinese food New York has to offer. Everything is delicious here, and you can really tell you are getting something that is a step above take-out Chinese. Early bird and lunch specials are amazing as you can get soup and egg rolls with your entree. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The place is big so there is rarely a wait. They give really big portions here, and its great getting a few entrees among the group and every one shares. They even have Japanese Entrees and Sushi! i thought with all these great reviews why not try it...well i should've stuck with my local take out ! the people there are nice the food was ok at best ,peking duck was dry and i needed almost a full bottle of hoisin sauce to wash it down, the Mrs had the spicy lover dinner combo , we couldn't tell which roll was which , they all looked the same and all had a huge glob of garlic mayo making them all taste the same . the plates and bowls all had a gritty feel to them as well making us feel that they were not washed and sanitized properly sorry not returning here ever again read more

Ever since Joy Garden in Lawrence closed, it's been a struggle to find delicious Chinese food, especially at a place that could be considered a restaurant instead of a takeout joint. Unfortunately, I'll have to keep searching. The portions were very small. If you were to go to a takeout place, it was about the same size as the small size, but the price was more expensive than most places charge for the large size. On top of that, the food wasn't very good. There was the most bizarre taste to the beef...not sure if it was the sauce or the actual beef. I do have to say that the beef was cooked well, not too chewy or tough. Also, at every other Chinese restaurant I've been to, when you order an entree and the waiter asks what kind of soup you want, that means that the soup is included. Not so here, as I found out when I got the bill. I do have to say that the crunchy things that you dip in the duck sauce were quite good, as was the duck sauce, and the wait staff was very attentive and were great about refilling water. But overall, a big disappointment. I've had better Chinese for half the price - the only plus about this place was that it was a nice sit-down restaurant, but I can't even begin to imagine going to this place for mere takeout. Classic Chinese (American) food in the classic chinese restaurant atmosphere. It had been so long since I ate in an honest to goodness chinese restaurant with hanging lanterns, streamers and the prerequisite fish tank out front that I was delighted to find this place. And it is as delish as one would hope also! greeted with a pot of tea and all the fried won tons you can eat, My fiance and I always order the combo deals in the back of the menu. Nothing different than your take out, but then the price is also as good as take out and you get to eat in a wonderfully kitschy place. bonus - the waitstaff is really teriffic! We have never had the sushi there, but I can tell you the chinese is classic and totally satisfying when you have that craving to stuff yourself with fried rice and duck sauce ;) read more

this is one of my favorite places....they have the best chicken mein fun on long island and their sushi is great! Even my four year old loves it here, with their big fish tank and friendly staff. Waiters also openly give preferential treatment to locals and regulars while treating new comers in a mostly inattentive way, as if bothered. This is my second time taking out and I'm...underwhelmed. Our meals were really under-seasoned. I can't ever remember eating take out Chinese and thinking, "this needs salt." I stopped in for a take out lunch and got the spicy lover combo. The spicy jack was supposed to be shredded crab meat (imitation crab) and shrimp. There were no shrimp. They just used the "crunch" to stuff the roll. The spicy tuna is what you'd typically see, mashed up.. And their salad that came with it had a wierd ginger sauce. At least there were 6 prices per roll and they were decently sized. Other lady at the front desk with short black hair was rude too, as I changed my mind from sitting in to taking out as I looked over their menu - she gave me attitude about it. This restaurant should be called so far not so good because the food is not so good. The portions are tiny when you eat there but for take out the portions are huge. I don't understand that at all. Some of the servers are nice while others have huge attitude problems. Do not come here in the winter. They keep the heat running on such a high temperature that you can't even breath. One time I came here with my family and I had to go out side like every 10 minutes to get fresh air. One time after waiting 20 minutes for someone to come take our order we left and went to a different restaurant. One time I was here with my family and my sushi had brown avocado on it which meant the avocado wasn't fresh and avocado that's not fresh can make People very sick so we sent it back and we got an apology. Another time I was here with my family and my dad was given raw beef. It was cold and purple inside and he told the waitress and she said there is nothing wrong with it and that he should just eat it. My dad sent back the beef and we took a break from eating at this dump. After a few years we decided that maybe we'll give it one last chance but that was a huge mistake. My dad found a large strand of hair in his food. I guess So Far So Good is still so far not so good. read more

Where to start.. the food was bland, the peking duck was more of a fried duck.. lack of that sweet roast flavor on the skin and the skin is supposed to be soft.. my jasmine rice was so far undercooked I barely ate any of it because I don't like to chew hard rice.. as for the rest of the night.. my wife enjoyed her spider roll and I thought it sucked because the crab was not crispy. Then again that's what you get for ordering sushi from a Chinese restaurant. Then the waiters suck and the waitress didn't know how to pour water.. spilled it all over my lap and the plate of spare ribs.. she looked at it and kept walking. Really? Yes, I didn't say anything that night to upset my in-laws but if I were with just my wife I would have left with my food on the table and the bill not paid.
