He made a second hole for his key but didn't leave a key for me to turn on the gas.

I received So Cal Chimney info from The Del Mar home show told for cleaning it would be $84. Steve came and told me there were so many things that needed fixing. My $84 turned into $1000. SUCKER is what was written on my forehead. He's a crook and liar. I just got around to wanting to start the fireplace and since he changed out the firebox and told me it was the wrong pipe he needed to change it out. Well, he never left a gas key for it and when I called him he said he doesn't have keys for it. I told him they don't sell the size he changed out. He then argued that I had the wrong company and he didn't do the work. I sent him a picture and my copy of the check ai wrote to his company. DO NOT use this company. They will lie to upswell and change things out and charge you a fortune.

Backsplash inside fireplace; cap and and spark arrester on the outside of chimney.
Janet B.

Several of my neighbors had used Steve. I called Steve and he took care of my specific chimney needs by doing a thorough inspection of the inside and outside of the chimney. He made recommendations and listed all the possible solutions with the estimated quotes. He was on time, thorough, friendly and honest. He followed through with all I had expected. My home is 40 years old with a real wood burning fireplace. Steve installed a metal backsplash in the firebox because our fire block mortar was separated. He also installed a chimney cap to bring our home up to fire code. He repaired two large cracks at the top of our chimney to keep the rain out of our chimney. Job well done. Thank you Steve Sincerely, Steve and Janet Blevins

a text message from a customer

Steve was supposed to come to my house today for an appointment at 11am. My girlfriend text him after noon when he hadn't shown up, to see if he was running late or if we needed to reschedule. He claims he came to the house and knocked and left a business card. We have 2 cameras out front and he never showed up or left a card like he claims he did. He left me a voicemail yesterday so I know he has my phone number, but he made zero attempts to call me when he "knocked but no one answered". That is extremely unprofessional and I will not be using his services. He also said that the service would be $149 instead of the quoted $89 if he came back to the house.

The project included bathroom remodeling, kitchen remodeling, new flooring throughout the house, and interior painting. From beginning to end, the entire experience was smooth, professional, and very well organized. Amit, the project manager, was outstanding throughout the entire process. His communication was excellent he always kept us updated on the timeline, progress, and every important detail. Anytime we had questions or concerns, he responded quickly and made sure everything was handled professionally. One thing that truly stood out was the quality control and attention to detail. The workmanship exceeded our expectations, and every part of the project was completed with care and precision. Jylene (design) and Todd (construction) were awesome people and their entire team was professional, experienced, and kind. The subs they used were top notch (particularly the electricians and floor levelers). We had some communication issues at the beginning (admittedly partially caused by us) that were resolved by a common sense approach solution provided by Jylene. They weren't the cheapest (or most expensive) bid we got but they absolutely delivered! The end result was gorgeous and luxurious. Thank you guys for such an awesome experience!

The quality of their craftsmanship and their attention to detail made a lasting impression and quickly established STS as my trusted contractor for future projects. My most recent project--a full backyard remodel--is now nearing completion, and once again STS has exceeded my expectations. The scope of work included replacing existing stamped concrete with custom pavers, creating an outdoor living room, building a custom brick retaining wall around the fire pit, installing Roman shades over my spa, and replacing an old wooden fence with a new vinyl fence. While my original vision for the backyard exceeded my budget, STS Construction owners Todd and Jylene worked closely with me to prioritize key elements and develop a proposal that was both thoughtful and financially realistic. Construction began in May, and work progressed consistently from start to finish--even on holidays. The only delays occurred when special-order materials were awaiting delivery. Throughout the entire process, STS demonstrated exceptional professionalism, reliability, and a genuine commitment to quality. I confidently and highly recommend STS Construction for any personal or professional construction and design needs.

He replaced a tub drain in our 78-year-old home where the crossbars had rotted out, replaced the tub spout, fixed the weak flow in the sink, and re-caulked the tub. It looks practically brand new now. I've attempted this in the past and let's just say it wasn't anywhere near as neat as Preston's. The first time he came out he installed two barn doors and they look and work great. Pretty sure this would have costed twice as much with a plumber, if not more. Highly recommend!

Apparently I made a big mistake hiring the Unstoppable Handyman to come out (April 2026) to do some…read morework around my place. The job they agreed to was caulk the bathtub, check the water pressure kitchen sink, look into stabilizing a spigot in the bathtub. The fact they charged me over 32% more than there estimate wasn't even the worst part. I was charged $40 to look at the spigot for them to "make recommendations" after he said he wasn't licensed plumber, which I agreed to. In writing agreement $270 work order, apparently an "estimate" they emailed me. After the work, they charged me $358. I paid this but asked why the price increase? They said the "cost of material" (to caulk a bathtub??) and to caulk around the shower door block guide, which was maybe a few square inches to do. You'd think this would be included in price to caulk the tub, but apparently not. None the less, the caulking work looked good. But here's the problem - and it's a big one. I waited 2 days before using the tub/shower after the caulking to allow drying time. Finally when I used the shower, I noticed the spigot was stabilized, but when I reached down to the spigot to turn the water off, I noticed water coming out from the marble tile. I called and spoke to Preston, who is the owner of Unstoppable Handyman as well as performed the basic work. I explained the spigot was leaking water from behind the wall and I needed someone to come out ASAP to look at it. I sent him a video of me turning on the water, showing water running out from inside the wall. During our brief phone conversation, Preston stated that he's not licensed to do plumbing. He denied causing the leak. He told me, "I didn't touch your pipes," but he admitted to removing the spigot which is connected to the copper pipe. He told me that the original worker who installed the bathtub faucet (spigot) "didn't do the work correctly" and he is "liable"... "it's not up to code"... telling me it wasn't anything that he had done. Here's a logical question - if he didn't touch the plumbing, how does he know how it's "not up to code" or improperly assembled? He already said he's not licensed. I asked him if he removed the bathtub spigot and he said that he did, to spray a "backer foam" to stabilize the spigot. I told him it wasn't leaking before, it's leaking now, and when I asked him if he was going to send someone to fix it, he said no, he would not send anyone or take responsibility for the leak. Before I terminated the phone conversation with Mr. "Preston" I told him I was going to review his business on Yelp, Google and that I would also be putting in a consumer complaint with Unstoppable Handyman with the (BBB) Better Business Bureau, which I have every intention of doing. Preston retaliated during our phone conversation, telling me he was going to report me to my condominium HOA, as he made the false assertion I hired "an unlicensed plumber" who originally did the work, which was totally false. The only one performing unlicensed plumbing work was Preston, when he removed the spigot. Removing a spigot is considered basic plumbing work, which "Preston" admitted to in order to spray a foam behind the tile. Pipes can be damaged when twisting off the spigot if not done properly. My original contractor who installed the shower, Steve Miller, was not only a licensed plumber by trade, he holds a general contractor's license who builds entire houses. I called unstoppable handyman to do this work, mostly caulking, because Steve was in 29 palms building a house. After I called and spoke to Steve explaining the situation, that the guy is a handyman who doesn't have a license to plumb but he removed the spigot, "it's now leaking from behind the marble wall," Steve said the guy probably broke the solder on the pipe joint when he twisted the spigot off. Contractor Steve said the marble tile above the bath tub around the faucet is likely going to have to be removed now to repair the pipe. Contractor Steve asked if Preston offered to refund me, I told him, "no. He denies causing any damage." Steve recommended reporting him to the 'state licensing board' - only problem - I don't even believe Preston is licensed. I'll check. I will be filing an official consumer complaint with the BBB against the business, Unstoppable Handyman. There's no telling how much water could have ran down behind the wall under the bath tub when i showered on Sunday, which could cause floor damage as well as cause a mold problem. The tub and shower can't be used now until I have it repaired by a qualified licensed contractor, which will cost hundreds of dollars if not thousand(s). After I file my complaints against "Preston" with unstoppable handyman (Better Business Bureau, state contractor board licensing ) I might elect to take some time off from work to persue legal action to recoup my financial losses on this. That said, this Yelp review isn't the end, I'm just getting started!
