Jonny from D&J Duct and Chimney came to our home to install a dryer vent in our garage after my…read morewife found him on Yelp. He also cleaned our chimney while he was here. For this, we thought he did a goodbjob. At the time, he was professional, courteous, and fairly priced. We also agreed to have him install a damper in our chimney. He said it would take one, possibly two days to get the damper for him to install. He suggested pay for his services rendered plus pay for the damper upfront. Since we thought he was reliable and trustworthy, we paid him for his work plus made the mistake of paying him upfront for damper product to be installed in a few days. Big mistake. Since then, it has been nothing but a slew of cancelled and/or rescheduled appointments, missed texts and calls, and the complete runaround while he has apparently continued to do other jobs in the meantime. There was a weather issue once, and we totally understand that he cannot perform the job while it's raining for safety reasons... but one of the days he was supposed to be here, he texted us AFTER he was already supposed to be at our house and told us he forgot he had a doctor's appointment. It would have been fine if he had told us in advance, not AFTER he was supposed to be here! Our faith in him has dwindled in the last several weeks. Like we said, texts go unanswered, sometimes he doesn't even respond until the next day. Who skips out on appointments and doesn't call or text that they aren't coming?! This is wholly unprofessional. Trust us, we learned our lesson...we will never pay up front ever again, no matter how trustworthy and honest someone seems. That was our mistake, but now, HE is the one who has stolen money from us. We have politely rearranged our time, multiple times, to accommodate his schedule and his issues, even after he had took our money. Don't continually make appointments you can't keep! I have asked him politely to do the job we paid for, or to issue us a refund. At this point, he has failed to do either, and we just want our money back. We are now out $700 for a damper we already paid for that has yet to be installed. It kills us to write a bad review because that's not who we are, but at this point, we don't know what else to do because he has literally stolen from us. We feel like our trust and kindness were taken advantage of, and it's not a good feeling.

After finishing the repairs, he mentioned to us a few things to watch out for when the weather gets cooler (it was summer at the time). Sure enough, come December a few more issues (the exact ones he said MAY happen) happened. Within a few days of contacting him about the issues he was back on my roof making the necessary modifications to get things sealed up and energy efficient (he considered it part of the original work and barely charged us for it). Robert is up front about the condition of your property and offers you the best solutions moving forward (as well as the most economical solution - letting you know if they are one in the same or not). I can't see using anyone else at this point. Highly recommended.
