I thought my gas fireplace was broken and that the flue wouldn't properly close. Michael came over, inspected, repaired and cleaned everything. He also explained why gas fireplaces require the flue to stay open. Michael made sure everything was working perfectly, explained everything that he was doing and offered options on how to make our fireplaces more efficient and attractive. He also stayed longer to clean out our dryer vent which was long overdue. I highly recommend Michael to anyone needing any kind of fireplace or dryer vent service. Great job! read more

Mike was on time and great to work with. Very knowledgeable and would use again for services.

Made an appt with Michael and that was easy. He explained everything in plain English and cleaned our fireplace. THEN, he worked on our dryer vent and pulled out about 10 years worth of junk!!!! I would recommend Michael any day of the week. read more

I highly recommend him! I used him twice, he is very professional and reliable. Great communication. Prices are reasonable too.

We had our chimney swept in 2022 and the cleaners advised us not to use our fireplace as there was a "gap in the flue pipe" that might cause a catastrophic event so sadly we haven't used our fireplace in almost 3 years. Since last year's rains, we noticed a substantial leak in our fireplace and after some research on Yelp we found Michael at Chimney Champ. We had a thorough discussion over the phone, he gave me a reasonable quote for service and we scheduled an appointment for him to come out. Received a confirmation text the day before and a courtesy call when he was on his way. Michael was considerate & kind upon arrival - he took off his shoes before entering our home, I didn't even have to ask! After inspecting our flue pipe with his camera, he determined our fireplace/chimney was safe to use, thankfully! He then went onto the roof and discovered there was a void between the chase cover & chimney pipe where water was seeping in and the silicone sealant had worn away. He removed our decorative shroud because it didn't allow for proper ventilation, installed a storm collar and sealed all the gaps/holes. We were able to use our fireplace that night and it just so happened to rain a couple nights that week with NO LEAKS!! We're so happy we found Michael and extremely pleased with his service!! read more

Mike was very flexible as to availability as we were still living 1.5 hours away from our new property. Mike was very upfront with me as to our property having two "Rampart" chimneys. Mike cleaned and inspected both Chimneys. He was able to show me where they were cracked in the breastplate and both unsafe to use. Although disappointed as the seller did not disclose this information to us, I am grateful that Mike was willing to give us the news and not sugar coat the situation. Mike and his helper were very professional. Reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Chimney Champ. read more

Michael did an excellent job for me! I have a gas powered fireplace that wouldn't light. He got it working and it looks brand new! Very reasonable price as well. I highly recommend this company. Thanks, Michael! read more

Mike was very transparent (I received a previous quote from chimney sweeps for $6000 for things I apparently did not need to be fixed). He even told me I could get anHe even told me I could get a fireplace grill elsewhere for cheaper. Everything that needed to be fixed was fixed for $775 with Chimney Champ (I needed a new gas key so that was $10). Make sure you go with a certified chimney place, so you don't get scammed. Thanks Mike! read more

Mike was GREAT! He was an honest hard working man. He was on time, very clean and very knowledgeable. His price was very reasonable and competitive. He will now be our Chimney Cleaner going forward. read more

Mike was amazing. A true professional I was so happy that I used him for my work. The top of my chimney blew off in a recent windstorm and Mike was able to repair and replace the top of the chimney which was over 30 feet high I was afraid that, I would have to have an entirely new custom top built for the chimney, but he was able to work with the one I had and he fixed it. He was on time he was courteous. He was reliable, and his pricing was amazing for the work that he did. I highly recommend him. read more

Had a productive experience from Michael today. Chimney sweep, gas log starter pipe replaced, and came away with a fireback at a good price. A lot of knowledge, made the necessary recommendations and kept it real. When I can afford it, I will have the recommended repairs done from Michael. read more

Michael was professional but also listened empathetically and showed a real interest in our family. He is a pleasant person to work with. He responds promptly and gave us what seemed like a fair price (well below another I was quoted). He also came out only a few days after I called during the busy season, when others didn't have openings for weeks. He was fast with the cleaning, too! He was candid about what needed to be repaired and gave us the full story on what was most urgent. All in all, I highly recommend him. read more

Michael was great all around. He is very responsive and extremely friendly and helpful. Scheduled the inspection and cleaning immediately, sent a confirmatory text message and arrived right on time. He even helped me by getting on the roof to put on a chimney cap that had come off and didn't even charge me extra for it. Highly recommend him read more

Michael is a true champion. I inquired on a Thursday morning, he got back to me early that afternoon and we quickly came to a verbal agreement by phone. Within hours Michael was at our house performing the work--the same day! His communication and work ethic are strong. He clearly explained everything he needed to do and got right to work as soon as we agreed. He was great with our kids and his prices were very reasonable. He took his time to do it right and kept the job site clean and professional. I highly recommend The Champ! read more

Our stackable dryer's vent needed cleaning. Micheal responded quickly to our request for an estimate. He scheduled with us in just a few days. He wore a mask and asked if he should remove his shoes. So glad I went with Chimney Champ. Mike came out and was great! Our place wasn't super dirty, but we just moved to a new place in a condo that had a fireplace. Mike checked it out, inspected and cleaned it and taught me a lot so I feel comfortable knowing our fireplace is safe for years to come, and that our dryer vent wont explode from years of neglect. Mike is also very personable and definitely your guy to go to! read more

Michael came to our North County condo location and did both a chimney sweep and a dryer vent cleaning. He did a great job! Was informative, showed me camera work during the process, confirmed that both were necessary and beneficial as evidenced by the soot and lint removed. He even caulked around the chimney cap, and reset a couple of loose tile nails. We're very pleased, and highly recommend!!! read more

Michael was professional and effective. He also helped us with info on a fireplace insert. Left the area very clean. I'd totally recommend him. read more

My old chimney cap needed to be replaced, and Michael was booked out for weeks. However, I asked him to book me in place of anyone who cancelled. He managed to fit me in after about a week, after taking care of another client near to where I live. Furthermore, Sabbath was approaching, and Michael finished all of the work well before Sabbath started. Finally, we have a lightweight, clay tile roof, and Michael took everything with him in one trip so as to minimize the possibly of damaging the roof. read more

Had appt w/ Chimney Champ for 12pm on Friday Oct 9th for an estimate on fixing our chimney cap. Before our appt I had been texting Michael about our needs for a chimney cap. I sent him pics. He said, your cap is fine, you need a chase cover. OK - great. As our text convo continued, I told him we have a gas fireplace. He says, (. . . I'm almost sure you have a wood burning fireplace but in your case you happen to have gas logs installed." I told him, no, we have a GAS fireplace. Mind you, he has never even been to our home yet. He then tells me to look for a tag on the inside of our fireplace. I tell him there isn't one. He says there has to be one. I insist there is Zip/Nada tag. Then he calls me. He proceeds to be very arrogant on phone and tells me "I don't believe you" when I said there is not tag on fireplace. When he gets to my home he looks in my fireplace and keeps saying, "um, umm, yeah, umm . . . ". (??!) and I'm like, "Do you believe me now that there is no tag? When he was ready to leave, he told me that the charge would be $125. He never told me this, or texted this to me and it is not anywhere on his website. If his arrogance and small-mindedness is any indication of how he runs his business, then no thank you. Take your business to someone who is respectful and humble. read more

Michael was fantastic. He was on time and honest and did not charge us for the service he could not provide. I feel like he's the only honest business guy in San Diego and it was so much appreciated! read more

I have a 1920's house with an old chimney. It needs a good cleaning. I called Mike at Chimney Champ. He went into great deal on the phone about what is involved with pre-1930's chimneys. Bottom line: I need a liner which Mike doesn't do. However, he referred me to someone who does. I am VERY impressed with Mike's honesty and integrity. He could have booked my appointment, charged me for showing up, all to tell me that the chimney needs repairs he doesn't do. When I am ready for a chimney cleaning, I will definitely call Mike. read more

Service was great, would recommend again. Had Dryer vent and two bathroom exhausts cleaned out, everything works great again. Thank you!

Mike came buy our new house last week. We wanted him to install a chimney cap. He noticed that there were a couple of loose bricks at the top and recommended that we get those repaired before he put the cap on as we would have to get it taken off and added again, which would create additional expense for ourselves. He referred us to a contractor that can repair the bricks and we will be calling Mike out to install the chimney cap as soon as the issue is resolved. We really appreciated his explanation of the problem and his honesty. read more

Mike, owner of Chimney Champ, was awesome. On time, charged $119, no up-sell, inspected the gas-line, chimney stack, and flue. Cleaning the chimney is a little dirty to say the least, but Mike used paint tarp/canvas to cover my wood floors and surrounding fireplace mantel. About 2 hrs later he removed all the dirt and debris (mostly cobwebs), he also vacuumed the fireplace removing anything that feel down. Awesome work Mike!! read more

Excellent & knowledgable service, and great ethical treatment. Chimney Champ was called to provide a second opinion after another less reputable sweep tried to sell me $1800 in service that turned out not to be necessary. Mike looked at the chimney chase, confirmed that adequate air flow was present, and explained the whole diagnosis to me in detail. He offered to do the work - at less than 1/3 the price of the scammers, but clearly indicated that he thought there was absolutely no need to do so; instead he did an inspection and actually did fix the one real issue (at no charge!) that the scam artists before neglected to identify. Mike demonstrated integrity that is rarely seen, as well as knowledge of the trade, and true concern for his customers. His attitude and politeness was pleasant as well. He may not have the top-hat or an English accent, but if you want your work done right by an honest professional, Chimney Champ should be your first call. Mike has definitely earned my future service, and will be my future go-to guy for chimney service going forward. read more

I called Chimney Champ after we realized we had no chimney cap/ screen (had a visit from a very scared pigeon that couldn't get out of the chimney). Michael was able to schedule a call quickly, had reasonable prices and was very easy to work with. I would call Chimney Champ again if a need arises, and happy to recommend to others. read more

My wife scheduled to have Chimney Champ clean out chimney after buying a new house in Del Mar. Michael came out exactly on time and after a quick inspection recommended he fix a crack in the chimney (he did this at no extra charge) and also recommended a chimney cap which he installed to prevent sparks from flying out and, more importantly, critters and water from getting in. I asked Michael about installing a gas fire place and he confirmed that we already had gas plumbed to the chimney and came out two days later to install and awesome faux log/gas set up.... Looks great and we can now safely enjoy our new home... Thanks Michael! read more

I was able to get an appointment quickly. Mike was friendly - answered my fireplace related questions, pertaining to what would happen when I cover the fireplace with drywall. Prices were reasonable! I got a quote from another highly reviewed chimney place prior to calling Chimney Champ, and it was 3x more! Didn't make sense to me why it would be that much more expensive since all I needed was a chimney cap installed. read more
