Ceasar was amazing! Highly recommended his services. We had a bee hive located in an old guitar on our fence that we wanted to relocate and not disturb it. It was getting bigger and wanted to protect what the bees created. Ceasar was the first person to respond back to me and came the next day/evening to relocate the hive. He was very informative and knowledgeable you can tell that he loves what he does. I'm grateful that he was available and able to help us out. He's The Best!!! Thank you Shannon A read more

We had an issue with bees in our chimney and they started coming into the house. About 10 of them. Cesar talked me through taping up the fireplace. And seeing if they moved on. After a couple of days I called him again because we were still hearing buzzing and a couple more got in the house. He came over within about 2 hours. Climbed on the roof did an inspection and didn't see a hive. Explained how they were scouts looking for a new location. Charged a very nominal fee and advised what to do to prevent future occurrences. Worth the peace of mind!! read more

Our gardener wanted to trim our trees, but we could hear Bees, but didn't know or see a hive. We also did not want the Bee hive damaged or Bees hurt. We called So Cal Bees and Cesar was fast in responding. He went to our location promptly and we didn't have any hives, and provided us a letter stating this for our Gardener and HOA. Great price for coming out and checking too. We recommend Cesar at So Cal Bees in Long Beach. read more

Cesar's professionalism and friendliness made this a painless process. A quick call and same day schedule on a Sunday (no less) made our evening much more peaceful. We don't have to worry about dodging the WASPS guarding our front door anymore. He also attempted to take care of neighboring wasp nests, but alas it was too high up. I appreciate the gesture though. read more

We had a bee emergency in May. My neighbor rang my doorbell and said her husband is allergic to bees and saw a swarm fly into my backyard. I called So Cal Bees and Cesar quickly responded and stopped by my home later that day to investigate. Upon inspection he found that there was a hive of bees entering into the interior of my home where a copper pipe was coming out. According to Cesar the bees have been living there for years and suggested a trap out. A trap out is where they cover up the hole where the bees are entering and create another smaller hole/ door for the bees to exit and not go back in. Another hive is present for the bees to relocate and find a new home. The process took about 3-4 weeks and the bees took to the new hive. Cesar patched up the hole for the trap out and I have not seen any bees since he picked up the hive. I highly recommend working with So Cal Bees for the great customer service. read more

Bees were starting to come through my chimney and into my living room; needless to say, my wife went into a panic and I had to leave work. I called Cesar and he came to my house in less than 30 minutes! He explained why the bees had chosen my house and let me know there was a good chance that they wouldn't come back. He didn't charge me a cent and didn't try and up-sell me on any service. He was a super-nice and honest person and I would recommend that you call him first if you have any bee issues. Fast response and such a bee expert!! We had 2 swarms , and the first guy who came out quoted us $250 to kill each swarm, so $500 total! We couldn't do it today since our neighbor's dog was on the other side. As the day went on, we decided we didn't want to kill the bees. We found So Cal Bees on Yelp and Cesar immediately came out as he was interested in the 2 swarms. He got to work quickly (after explaining how we ended up with 2 swarms), and then got out his nucleus boxes to help the bees relocate. He let us watch and it was super interesting! So thankful he came out and relocated both swarms for $250. Thanks Cesar! read more

Having to stay in your house because of COVID-19 is tough. Having to stay in a house full of bees...well, let's hope you never have to go through that. Honestly, our first, second, and third thoughts were to kill the invaders with extreme prejudice, but then we realized they were actually quite docile and just wanted to get outside, even more than we did. After some quick investigation we figured out they were honey bees. Apparently, these fragile little pollinators had decided to build a new hive under our house and were now finding their way inside, en mass. Since killing honey bees now ranks right up there with kicking puppies, on the AITA meter, we turned to the internet for guidance and came across the Beekeepers Association of Southern California. There we found Ray, our friendly neighborhood Bee Rescuer, who quickly got to work and helped us relocate our swarm. Careful to follow all his instructions, we were bee free in about a month! No more worrying about the GSDs getting a hold of a spicy sky raisin, or accidental stings because you didn't look before you pressed up against something...or before you sat...yeah, that actually happened a couple times. But, no more! Thank you, So Cal Bees! :) read more

Had a large swarm of bees high up in the tree in front of my house for a couple days. The bees were near the sidewalk where unsuspecting people walk their dogs and I am mildly allergic so I wanted this resolved quickly. Called Cesar and he came out within a couple of hours. Cesar is super friendly and knowledgeable. He is an expert in his field and can answer any questions you might have about bees. Cesar was able to relocate the 3,000-5,000 bees from my tree into a hive box. It was exciting to watch! everyone in my house was watching as well as people in the neighborhood. My only warning would be don't stand too close to the action as my husband got stung videotaping the event ;) (he's fine). Highly recommend this service if the need should arise. read more

These guys are amazing. I've dealt with Ray and Cesar and you can tell they are doing what they love. Cesar is the best bee man! We love bees and had our own hive for 5 years when it got too big and became a nuisance. Beekeeping is tricky in suburban neighborhoods. We had met Cesar a few years back when he was removing bees from our neighbor and kept his information in case we ran into trouble. This year our hive became too big and needed to be moved into a safer place. I knew Cesar would take care of the bees and move them carefully. He came several times to assess the beehive and provided clear plans. He removed the hive successfully all for a good price. read more

This review is a bit overdue, but last year we contacted SoCal bees, and Ray was very quick to respond and provide us with a full description on what we needed to have done to remove a huge beehive from our balcony. He scheduled us rather quickly, and the process was a very smooth. They placed a box on the balcony and within 48 hours all of the bees had migrated into the box on their own. They came out to remove the box shortly after, and there has not been an issue on the balcony since then, which again has been about a year ago now. The price was fair and the bees got to survive and continue to contribute to our environment! Thanks again, SoCal bees and Ray! read more

I worked with Cesar's partner Ray in Lake Forest. It was a wonderful experience. Quick response time, he answered all my questions and explained the whole process simply. He rescues the bees, so no poisons. I ultimately did not go with Ray only because I decided I wanted the hive removed after he got rid of the bees and to remove the hive he would have to cut into the roof. and he doesn't do that type of work. From my experience I highly recommend them. JLF read more

Ray is a great guy! We had a large swarm of bees decide to make a hive inside of our Jacuzzi spa yesterday afternoon. (I guess they love to do this and he was very familiar with how to take care of the situation.) Fortunately I was given his name by a friend that said "You need to call Ray the bee man!" So glad we did. He was here within the hour and beautifully and humanely handled the bees. He predicted exactly what they would do as he gathered them up in his "bee box" to take them off to a new and much better home. I wish I could have kept some of them as they are so good for the garden and the environment- but husband is allergic. Side note: his honey is delicious and I will definitely be purchasing more of that. Will call him again if the need arises. Ray is a true expert at what he does and bees are his passion. I was very happy with my experience with So Cal Bees and would highly recommend them for any bee removal projects. I had the pleasure of working with Cesar who is an extremely knowledgeable "master beekeeper" and was obviously very experienced in handling bees. I found his pricing to be very fair and reasonable. He promptly came out to my property and was able to resolve my very large bee problem with 3 visits over a period of 3 days. I had what turned out to be a huge hive of very active bees living in a discarded piece of furniture in my backyard. Cesar initially came out to inspect the property and was prepared to relocate the hive at that time. Unfortunately, it was such a large hive that he needed to return the next day to have the proper resources to deal with it. He returned the next day as promised and did in fact remove the hive from my property. He then left a box at my property designed to capture any remaining airborne bees and came back 2 days later to retrieve the box as promised. When he returned, I was pleased to see that there were no longer any bees in the area. He loaded up the remaining box that he had left behind in his truck and the bees were gone!!! Cesar was kind enough to bring a saw to cut up the abandoned furniture and even hauled the pieces away so that the bees were no longer enticed to return to the scene of the crime. Cesar was very professional and even cleared out over a dozen wasp nests that I had in my eaves at no extra cost since he was already there. He was a total pleasure to work with and I would immediately use So Cal Bees again without hesitation. Recommend!! read more

I had a mini-swarm of bees take hold of a hole into my attic, and I called Cesar for advice/help. He said he was in the area and offered to stop by. After looking at the situation, he assessed that there was a swarm nearby looking for a new home - and he said I should immediately fill the hole with steel wool. Being a subpar handyman, I had no steel wool. Cesar hooked me up with a wad, and instructed me how to pull the hole, detailing why bees can't chew through steel wool. Cesar was super knowledgeable and he didn't charge me for the assessment, nor the steel wool. If those bees decide to come back, So Call Bees is my first call... I had a swarm of traveling bees settle into one of our back yard; sun shade sails, called various locations including Terminix, LA county and the San Gabriel Valley Vector control and no one was available to help as it was a Sunday afternoon. While on google looking for bee keepers, came across the Beekeepers Association of Southern California (B.A.S.C) and Ray Tuerman one of the guys here. We contacted him over text, and within 35 minutes was at our place with a bee box and ready to relocate them. He gave us directions to make sure everyone was safe and was a treat to see him work as he was gentle with the bees and within 15min had most of them in their new home. We had to keep the box over night to make sure the rest of the colony all went in, but throughout the next day the bees were so gentle and we would forget at times they where there. The removal cost was super affordable (mainly gas money) then again it was a smaller batch and he was super informative about bees. Ceasar is a life saver - for myself & bees!! We noticed bees 'scouting' our house last week. My husband called So Cal Bees (he found via Yelp) & Ceasar arrived at our home within 30 minutes. He explained that the bees were looking for a new home to move their colony to and fortunately our house hadn't yet been taken over. He sprayed a repellent and the scout bees left. A few days later, I noticed bees scouting my house again. I called Ceasar to come back to help - I am not bee expert and am terrified of the sting! Ceasar took time & explained that there was a bee swarm nearby and unless we could locate where these scouting bees were coming from, the bees would continue to scout out my house or one of our neighbors. We walked around my neighborhood on a bee hunt. We were both determined to find the swarm before they invaded and caused any damage. A few years back, we WERE invaded by a swarm of bees that broke through a tiny gas pipe opening in our garage, causing major damage in just minutes & (I wish I'd had found Ceasar back then) because the company the City of LB recommended was outrageously priced but I had no other options & I was in a panic & the bees had to go. Fast forward to 2021 when new bees were looking to relocate, we found Ceasar & he not buy found the swarm before they relocated, removed them safely & notified my neighbor where them massive open hive resided. The bees are safe & we can walk out into our backyard without having to worry or disturb bees on the move. I hope I never have to deal with bees again, but if so - Ceasar is the man, hands down!! Professional, responsive, knowledgeable & 100% reasonably priced! Highly recommended! read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE One of the absolute Rudest, self absorbed people I've met. Talked down about another bee removal person. Then asked for the other bee removal person's name as if he was the Bee Removal Police. He constantly talked to me as if I was some child. Telling me things over and over and over. When I tried to get a specific time from him, he would skirt around it. Then he'd repeat himself in his condescending way about how I need to get things ready for him. He was very very poor at getting back to you. I'd call during his hours. No answer. People who are professional and courteous would call you back. HE"S NOT ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. I'd call the next day and told him I called yesterday - no apology. Just "Ok". He doesn't treat you like the customer. RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL read more

My elderly parents discovered bees coming into their bedroom this afternoon and worried there was an infestation. They tried on their own calling a couple of bee removal places but were unable to reach anyone. Worried that they might be closed due to the Shelter in Place order, they called me since they didn't know what else to do. I contacted Cesar from his Yelp listing and he happened to be in their area today so he said he could meet me there this evening. He came as promised and took a look at the exterior part of the house where they thought the bees were coming in and sprayed an almond scent he said the bees dislike in hopes of flushing some out so we could see where they were entering/exiting. He also took the time and trouble of going up inside their attic to see if they were in there. In the end he thought the bees were either in the wall or chimney - both of which would require drastic action - cutting holes into the wall or chimney. Due to the need to shelter in place and my parents advanced age - that isn't something we want to do right now. He thought that as long as the bees weren't coming inside, to live with it for the time being. Cesar was extremely nice, courteous, respectful, knowledgeable, and understanding (I asked that he wear a mask to further protect my parents). After all the effort and trouble of going up into the attic, I asked what I owed him and he didn't charge us a dime. If it turns out we do need to go in for a more extensive investigation, we will be contacting Cesar again. Thank you Cesar for your time and expertise. Always great meeting a fellow Bruin! read more

A few days ago, I noticed a larger amount of bees flying around my backyard, than there usually are. I saw that they were hanging around a large plastic utility box behind my garage, so I opened the lid to see what they found so enticing. As soon as I opened the lid, I saw a whole city of bees (buzzing very loudly), complete with a fully-formed hive. So I closed the lid, and searched the Internet for a service that captures bees, but does not kill them. Unfortunately, the first company I called just had a voicemail recording. Since this was a fairly urgent matter, I didn't bother leaving a message, because I wanted to talk to someone right away. I then found "So Cal Bees" on Yelp. They had good reviews, so I called them, and Cesar Castellanos immediately answered. (In addition to doing bee removals and rescues, Cesar is also a Master Beekeeper.) I explained my situation to him; he said that he was on his way to another customer's house, and that he would come to my house after that. A few minutes later, he showed up at my house. I am not exaggerating when I say that he was probably the nicest guy I've ever met. He checked out my bees, offered me a very reasonable price, and brought in his equipment. He explained everything that he was doing, including educating me on bee-havior (couldn't resist that one). He had a box with some honey in it, to tempt the bees into it, and also had some spray for the hive area, which contained a smell that bees don't like. He said that he would return around 7 PM to collect the bee box. I had an event to go to, so I was not home when he took the box, but when I returned, I saw that he had cut the hive off of the box, cleaned everything up, and taken the bees. I highly recommend Cesar at So Cal Bees, for this kind of thing. I'm so glad that a service like this is available to rescue the bees instead of killing them. It was actually worth it, just for his master class on bee behavior/physiology. I will definitely use Cesar again, then next time I am bee-set by my flying friends (sorry, last pun). Five stars!!!!! read more
