We had an issue with bees in our chimney and they started coming into the house. About 10 of them. Cesar talked me through taping up the fireplace. And seeing if they moved on. We had a bee emergency in May. My neighbor rang my doorbell and said her husband is allergic to bees and saw a swarm fly into my backyard. I called So Cal Bees and Cesar quickly responded and stopped by my home later that day to investigate. Upon inspection he found that there was a hive of bees entering into the interior of my home where a copper pipe was coming out. According to Cesar the bees have been living there for years and suggested a trap out. A trap out is where they cover up the hole where the bees are entering and create another smaller hole/ door for the bees to exit and not go back in. Another hive is present for the bees to relocate and find a new home. The process took about 3-4 weeks and the bees took to the new hive. Cesar patched up the hole for the trap out and I have not seen any bees since he picked up the hive. I highly recommend working with So Cal Bees for the great customer service. read more

Having to stay in your house because of COVID-19 is tough. Having to stay in a house full of bees...well, let's hope you never have to go through that. Honestly, our first, second, and third thoughts were to kill the invaders with extreme prejudice, but then we realized they were actually quite docile and just wanted to get outside, even more than we did. This review is a bit overdue, but last year we contacted SoCal bees, and Ray was very quick to respond and provide us with a full description on what we needed to have done to remove a huge beehive from our balcony. He scheduled us rather quickly, and the process was a very smooth. They placed a box on the balcony and within 48 hours all of the bees had migrated into the box on their own. They came out to remove the box shortly after, and there has not been an issue on the balcony since then, which again has been about a year ago now. I had the pleasure of working with Cesar who is an extremely knowledgeable "master beekeeper" and was obviously very experienced in handling bees. I found his pricing to be very fair and reasonable. I had a swarm of traveling bees settle into one of our back yard; sun shade sails, called various locations including Terminix, LA county and the San Gabriel Valley Vector control and no one was available to help as it was a Sunday afternoon. While on google looking for bee keepers, came across the Beekeepers Association of Southern California (B.A.S.C) and Ray Tuerman one of the guys here. My elderly parents discovered bees coming into their bedroom this afternoon and worried there was an infestation. They tried on their own calling a couple of bee removal places but were unable to reach anyone. Worried that they might be closed due to the Shelter in Place order, they called me since they didn't know what else to do. I contacted Cesar from his Yelp listing and he happened to be in their area today so he said he could meet me there this evening. He came as promised and took a look at the exterior part of the house where they thought the bees were coming in and sprayed an almond scent he said the bees dislike in hopes of flushing some out so we could see where they were entering/exiting. He also took the time and trouble of going up inside their attic to see if they were in there. In the end he thought the bees were either in the wall or chimney - both of which would require drastic action - cutting holes into the wall or chimney. Due to the need to shelter in place and my parents advanced age - that isn't something we want to do right now. A few days ago, I noticed a larger amount of bees flying around my backyard, than there usually are. I saw that they were hanging around a large plastic utility box behind my garage, so I opened the lid to see what they found so enticing. As soon as I opened the lid, I saw a whole city of bees (buzzing very loudly), complete with a fully-formed hive. So I closed the lid, and searched the Internet for a service that captures bees, but does not kill them. Unfortunately, the first company I called just had a voicemail recording. Since this was a fairly urgent matter, I didn't bother leaving a message, because I wanted to talk to someone right away. I then found "So Cal Bees" on Yelp. They had good reviews, so I called them, and Cesar Castellanos immediately answered. (In addition to doing bee removals and rescues, Cesar is also a Master Beekeeper.) I explained my situation to him; he said that he was on his way to another customer's house, and that he would come to my house after that. A few minutes later, he showed up at my house. I am not exaggerating when I say that he was probably the nicest guy I've ever met. He checked out my bees, offered me a very reasonable price, and brought in his equipment. He explained everything that he was doing, including educating me on bee-havior (couldn't resist that one). He had a box with some honey in it, to tempt the bees into it, and also had some spray for the hive area, which contained a smell that bees don't like. He said that he would return around 7 PM to collect the bee box. I had an event to go to, so I was not home when he took the box, but when I returned, I saw that he had cut the hive off of the box, cleaned everything up, and taken the bees.
