The cheese fries here were awesome and huge! I was shocked to see the mound of cheesy potato goodness that was placed in front of me. They had margaritas and strawberry daquiri's on special. They weren't all that to be honest. This place has a very laid back feeling when you walk in. It's the place you go to kick back and relax after a long week. read more

uh muh guh this place rocked. I'm a born-and-bred Texan who was in Dallas for work (thank you work travel gods for sending me to The Republic)! - Excellent, friendly, attentive service - CHEESE FRIES - OMG OMG OMG - get them - the large is enough to feed at least six. These are the real deal. - The burgers are so tender, so moist, and you can tell they come from quality products and that great care is taken in their preparation - Lacking on-tap beer selection - Fried pickles done very well - Chicken fried steak isn't tender enough to cut with your fork--and well since this is the rule---they need to work on their CFS Yum I want to go back next time I'm in Dallas. read more

Ordered The Cheddar Fries, and added bacon and scallions on the top for an extra $1.99, definitely a must. They are delicious. If we knew how good they'd be, we'd definitely ordered the large. The fries came out nice and hot, and the cheese was melted, so definitely a plus in my book. The burgers are huge, and are delicious.... definitely one of the best meals I've had since arriving in Texas. We went before the dinner rush, so it was quick in and quick out. read more

Walking into Snuffer's you may immediately be reluctant to press forward and actually eat there as the atmosphere is hauntingly similar to TGI Fridays (just without the pieces of flare). Well, rest easy. Good food is to be found here and you would be wise to sample some of their award-winning items at some point in your life... just preferably not a time when your coronary arteries are severely occluded because this place is far from health food and would make your cardiologist shake his head in disgust. Snuffer's Green Chili Swissburger is one of six burgers in Dallas to make Texas Monthly's "50 Best Burgers" List, (a list that I find to be severely flawed without mention of Kenny's Woodfire Grill). So I set out to feast upon this fine creation for myself to experience what was probably one of the first green chili burgers I have ever had, at least in recent memory. The verdict: Surprisingly great! The first and most important test is always the beef. Snuffer's passed easily. I asked for medium and it came out our cooked perfectly. Nice and pink on the inside, oozing with sweet burger juice. The swiss cheese balanced nicely with the tang of the green chili. It is a smart combination and works well together. The rest of the burger is fairly uneventful, but holds up nonetheless. (I actually think that one of the photos listed here on Yelp does a good job at capturing this thing on film and always does a sufficient job in getting my drool factors ignited). Now, a word on the "award-winning" cheese fries. Definitely some honorable fries. But I wouldn't stamp them as the best in Dallas. They are quite literally swimming in cheese. May not be a problem for some, but when the Cheese-to-Fry ratio is over 1:1, there is a problem. It tends to leave the fries a little soggy and you are almost forced to eat them with a fork. Still the flavor is spot-on and the side of ranch served with them will have you mouth swooning for more. But I would still put my money on Lakewood Landing for cheese fries. In the end, we left surprisingly impressed overall. I still give the atmosphere a C+ but it won't stop me from eating there again. read more

Not that delicious and I was very sad, because I read so many great reviews.... 1. The burger was not good. I asked for mine Medium, but got Medium Rare like everyone else. I didnt want it like that.. but I ate it anyways cause I was starving. It was not evenly seasoned either - some bites were mad salty, other bites had no flavor. It was a mean trick on my mouth. Plus, I really dont like the little lettuce bits they put on there. I like leaves of lettuce. Lettuce bits just make for a mess, which is what I ended up with. 2. The fries: GROSS. No seasonings. Very limp and soggy and full of oil. We didnt get the cheese ones, because I didnt bring my heart defibrillator with me, but maybe another day at another location. I feel like I want to give it another chance. Everyone else seemed to have liked it, maybe it was late and our cook was tired or drunk.... the service was good, the beer was cold, but we didnt go for those things. We went for burgers and they were no bueno! read more

My crazy friend M and I were going to have a scary movie night, and we decided to start the night by getting some food first. We drive around for what seems like forever, and we just can't decide. Then we see Indiana Jones. Or, rather, a guy practicing his bull whip skills in the field next to the RaceTrac gas station. Yes, I took a video. After our laughter subsided, we saw Santa Claus driving what looked like a demilitarized Humvee. Again, after we stopped laughing, M suggested we get cheese fries. Mmm delicious. Did a quick U-Turn and headed to Snuffer's during rush hour on a Friday. Dear god do not do that. Unless you have a very strong desire for grease, please wait until rush hour is over. I had the worst headache ever after trying to navigate Midway at 530pm. Anyway, we find a seat and promptly order cheese fries. The Large size. Yes, it's ridiculous, but we do it any way. Refills were prompt and the servers didn't give us any crazy looks for our continued giggling about Indy Jones and Santa by the Race Trac. Then come the cheese fries. Sweet baby jesus. We got the bacon on top, but nothing else. And it was huge. I almost felt sick just looking at the size of that dish. We eat the cheesy greasy goodness for awhile and then decide we better get "real food". Which was where we made a mistake. M got the fried BLT, and there was so much grease, she really couldn't eat it. The lettuce was shiny with grease. I got chicken tenders, and the waitress asked if I wanted regular or spicy. I opted for a "little spicy". Their spice seems to be all cayenne and it was every where. It permeated the chicken and the onion fries that came with it. The onion fries (onion rings, but cut into pieces) were delicious- but would've been better without the hint o cayenne. Overall, we were so full of cheese fries, the rest of the meal was a waste of money. M said we'd have been better off just setting twenty dollar bills on fire. I would totally come back here for cheese fries, but I would have to go after rush hour and I would make someone else drive me so I can lay in the back seat and just moan in pain the whole way home. The fries and service are 4 stars, but the rest of the food we had was more like 2 stars. read more

The SETTING: 3 visits over the last two years, all for lunch, all with coworkers. The VIBE: 3 Stars - kind of uncomfortable wooden booths not much room to move, consistently busy lunch crowd. The SERVICE: 3 Stars - hit or miss, I've great servers and slow servers, depended on the day. All of them know the menu backwards though. The FOOD: Loaded Chees Fries - 5 Stars. Everything else - 3 Stars. Beware the food coma/pending heartburn after the cheese fries, but soooo good. There are many better burger options in Dallas. The Bottom Line - So so burger spot with awesome cheese fries. I recommend for HH instead of lunch. read more

Cheese Fries. OMG. Don't order more than a 1/2 order of cheese fries per 2 people if you want a prayer of finishing a burger. A lot of other places try to pass off Cheese Fries as fries drowning in that canned nasty fake nacho cheese crap. Not Snuffers. Theirs are fries in real melted cheese and then topped with bacon and chives. Ranch dressing for dipping and Jalapenos on the side for those who desire. After the fries came a Cheddar Burger. I marveled at how perfectly medium rare it was cooked. I could only stomach half my burger but I brought the rest home for dinner tonight. This place easily puts Angry Dog in the Angry Dog House... outside in the cold. read more

Snuffer's has a nice cozy atmosphere and great big burgers piled high with burgery goodness. The service was fast and the staff was very friendly. The selection is decent and the food itself is great, though this is not really a place to go if you are trying to avoid the bad stuff. read more

Wowzers...so if you want a heart attack on a plate you have to get the loaded cheese fries. These are meant to be shared but I promise you oh so freaking worth it! I don't go here often but when you do it's quite the treat. read more

Yeah, you know the drill. Walk in, and don't plan on ordering anything in the way of chicken fried anything or even salads. What your heart really wants is the famed cheese fries. Why ELSE would you default to such a mediocre dining establishment but to indulge in the greasy, gloppy mass that is known as Dallas' most sought after dish. If only to basically eat a dish so intrinsic in Dallas' dining culture, you better, for once in your life, completely give up on your diet and eat an entire order of their cheese fries. I mean, there is definitely no chance that you are gonna find something to fit into your Weight Watchers categories. Let's break this D-town classic down. If minimal ingredients are a plus for "raw" and "minimalist" eaters on these new diet trends, then these starchy, fatty, protein-laden sticks would surely win them over. Aside from the fact that they are deep-fried and practically stewing in a pool of fermented dairy products, the fries are technically a raw food, simply just tubers and cheese. Now, moving a little more on, you could say that the amped-up version only has 5 ingredients... barring the ranch that Texans are obligated to use. Bacon (looking past all of the "curing" ingredients); green onions--which they call chives for some odd reason (definitely not culinary masterminds here); and pickled jalapenos (brushing off the various brine components) comprise the 3 additional accompaniments. So really, you can eat "bare bones" here: taters, Cheddar, pork fat, greens, and spice. I mean.. pretty much all food groups, right? Cheese fries. One and done. Cheap, to boot. read more

It could have been serendipity. It could of been the hangover. It was most likely a combination of both. The PERFECT burger is one where you can taste every veggie, meat, condiment, and bun in equal proportions. I had the good fortune of trying the fried jalapeño burger and it was as if an Angel broke off a piece of heaven and put it in my mouth! Amaze balls! The cheddar fries will ruin your diet for a whole year but if you crave cheese, it doesn't get any better than this! Be sure to add chives, bacon, and jalapeños to it! My courageous friend opted for the chicken tenders and those were very disappointing but the burger was so good I'm negating the chicken tenders deduction! Don't be fooled by the name! It sounds like the name of a sleazy Porn Studio but you couldn't be more wrong! A Burger worth trying!! read more

Thank God I don't live in Dallas or I would weigh 600lbs. I love this place and would eat there everyday. We stopped by cause we wanted something that wasn't expensive and we really liked it. We had a order of the fried pickles and the order was massive. I was expecting a couple spears or a small handful of slices and instead we got 2 handfulls. And they were priced right. We also ordered the bacon chesseburgers and they were good and Texas sized as well. And one of us ordered some cheddar cheese fries and when they came out we thought they made a mistake and gave us a full order. We feel we got a lot of food for our money. read more

I am sorry to say, but i must rate Snuffers at a single star only because of the amazingly greasy delicious mess called cheese fries. Otherwise, i would had to give it NO STARs. This is due to the fact that out of the five times i have eaten there (close to my office), i have had food poisoning twice. This last time (thursday) takes the cake. According to the ER doctor (yes... ER DOCTOR), i contracted Salmonella Poisoning. If you do a good Google search for "Food Poisoning" and "Snuffer's", proves that this seems to be common with this chain. I am guessing it is due to unclean hands during prep. Needless to say, cant go back and wont recommend. read more

Replaced Duke's Roadhouse. Seemed larger from the outside but the building is split with Taqueria La Ventana in the other half. Burgers were filling and served on a poppy seed bun. Preferred the bacon guacamole over the mushroon swiss burger. For September, they have a farmhouse burger with bacon, ham, hash browns with a fried egg. Too bad I saw the sign after I ordered. The loaded cheese fries were tasty with a lot of cheese, bacon bits, green onions and sliced jalapenos, but not worth the $8 for a small order. Scratch another burger from D magazine's best burger list... read more

Holy crap this place is great!! It may have been the group I was with that really made the meal great. We went for lunch and started off with two orders of cheese fries. One with jalapeños, chives, and bacon and the other was just plain ole cheese. Both were just awesome. I had the bleu cheese bacon burger medium rare. It was delish. They used bacon bits instead of slabs of bacon. I didn't think I would like that at first, but was pleasantly surprised. Plus, c'mon this place has sweet tea. How can you hate a place that has sweet tea?? We had a large party and they accommodated us with no problem. The wait staff was awesome. I can't wait to go back!! read more

Snuffer's seems to be just any old place to hang out at and get a burger. There's nothing really special about their burgers, but the main thing to get here are their cheese fries. It comes with the works and you cannot go wrong with them. As far as the burger goes, I guess they're slightly better than Wendy's and Whataburger but not by much. I'd really give it 2 stars, but the cheese fires made them a 3 star in my book. Bottom line: If you want cheese fries, come to snuffers. If you want a good burger, you can do much better than Snuffer's for the same price. read more

All I can say is cheese fries. Forget everything else. Just have the cheese fries. It'll be enough to fill you up. I usually go with a good friend and we split an order and we get about a whole weeks of calories out of it. The place its self is very casual, has a bar, and the staff are always nice. I've been going here for probably 10+ years with my mom for girls night growing up and I haven't stopped, and I'll probably be by again soon for some more fries! read more

Burgers are quite an interesting food item. Some people love gourmet burgers, some love the traditional, no-frills burger. I side with the latter. And I feel like the burger at Snuffer's is just right on. I've never had a bad experience here. Is it the best burger in Dallas? Probably not, but what you get here is a delicious burger with the necessary toppings. I usually get the Green Chile Swissburger and you should get that, too. It's just the bomb. Not too overpowering with Green Chiles (I usually ask for more) and the Swiss cheese melted over the top of it really makes a person giggle. The other burgers are equally great so you can't go wrong. Cheese fries are great, but you know what...I prefer the fries without the cheese. The fries are very good and get hidden by the 5 pounds of cheese. I forget the drink specials, but I know during the week they are pretty cheap for happy hour folks. read more

Oh how I love the cheese fries and the bacon Bleu cheese burgers. They load the burger with so much perfectly crispy bacon and I like how the chop it so that every bite gets a mouth full. Unlike many other places they are generous with the Blue cheese and and makes the burger so nice and creamy. They have a few new items. I tried the sweet potato fries and ice cream. I live the odd idea however I think it can be perfected. It was awkward eating fries with a spoon so I asked for a fork. Then I realized how much nonsense it was to use both fork and spoon for one dish. I would cut the fries smaller to where they fit in the spoon and fry them. The fact that it was Henry's Homemade Ice Cream sold me this dish:) read more

The burger at Snuffer's is highly rated in D Magazine, so I had to try it. I got a Classic with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. You have a choice of doneness and I got "medium". It had a great flavor and I was happy the lettuce was chopped and neatly place on the burger with everything else. I'm a fan of the poppy seed bun too. I put ketchup on my burger, but that was probably a mistake since it got messy. I'm going to use the dip-from-plate option from now on. FYI, the sweet potato fries are actually sweet potato "bites". They were ok, but I think fries would have been better. [Stop #8 in The Great DFW Burger Quest] read more

Come here for the cheese fries. There were 6 of us, and we ordered a large and small with all the toppings. They cover the entire plate with equal amounts of jalapeno, bacon, and green onions so no fries can be seen. Ask for less toppings if you don't like that. Don't come here if you look remotely youthful and want to drink. Cuz they won't serve you. Even with a real Texas driver's license. That's yours. With your picture on it. After eating, we thought that we'd enjoy some post dinner drinks on the deck outside and watch the fireworks. My friend ordered a beer. The waitress looked at his id, fiddled around with it, then gave it back. 5 minutes later, she came back, asked for his id again, and took it to her manager. The manager came to our table, and said, "Sorry, I don't believe it." Excuse me, what? We all looked at each other, then looked at him, and all of us went, "Are you being serious?" After we determined that he, indeed, was being serious, we asked him why. He told us that he just didn't believe that it was legit, and that, in the end, "It's my call guys. It's my call." The waitress comes back, and we ask her what the crap was going on. She said she didn't believe that my friend was born in 79, and therefore, 31 years old, and, apparently, her manager didn't either. We tell her that we're all 30+ and married, and ask her how old she thinks we are. She said around her age, 19. Uh....thanks? So we ask her if the rest of us could order drinks. She said her manager wouldn't allow it cuz he wouldn't believe that we're as old as our ids said we were, so therefore, our ids must be 1)fake or 2)not ours. I guess we should've actually gotten fake ids that said we were 22 so it was more believable? Oh, let me say that we're all Asian so maybe we do really look young. Not quite sure what to do when you have real, legit proof that you are who you say you are, but someone refuses to believe you. Cuz, in the end, it's his call. Nice. read more

For what it is, I'll throw this Dallas/Addison burger joint four stars. They make a damn good burger! I had the green chile burger with pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo and it's better than any green chile burger than I've had in the land of green chile burgers: New Mexico. Had to give those cheddar fries a shot, too. Not bad. Question: What could go wrong with covering fries in melted cheddar cheese, supplying toppings like bacon bits and jalapeños, and offering up a side of ranch? Answer: Nothing. What impressed me the most about the place was how well it was ran. Typically, when I visit a restaurant and sit and wait for a server to refill my water, I'll notice the server to all of my surrounding booths fill up all of their water then glance at my empty glass and walk away as if to say, "Screw you, buddy! I'm not your server!" I think about four different people addressed my needs within the twenty minutes I spent in this place. One person took my order, another brought my food, somebody else brought my check, each of them filled my water glass at various times, and a roving manager stopped by a couple times to make sure I had everything I needed. Teamwork is a beautiful thing. 10 stars out of 5 for service. It's not a crazy gourmet burger joint like so many of the hip places in town (some of which try too hard). It's a place where they just make a simple, solid burger. I'll be back. read more

Ok, I admit, I'm biased. I've been a loyal fan of Snuffer's ever since I discovered it in Dallas back in the 80's after I had first moved to the Metroplex. Even though I'm now no longer in the Metroplex, my wife and I still make a point of going back every chance we get. Which is why we were dismayed to find Snuffer's gone from it's Midway location and an empty building. How glad we were to find out from my brother-in-law that Snuffer's wasn't gone, just relocated a block down the road and around the corner on Belt Line. We met my wife's brother and S.O. there on our most recent trip to Addison for dinner. My brother in law, who has dietary restrictions, limited himself to a salad, but even that he was happy with. He did indulge a bit in the fried mushrooms (which is one of the biggest reasons we are Snuffer's fans - the mushrooms are to DIE FOR, people!) The burgers are so large that my wife and i can easily split one - and do, so that we can indulge in some of the sides like loaded cheese fries and the aforementioned fried mushrooms. The decor is simple - it's actually not quite as warm as the old place was but who goes to Snuffer's for decor? The new location is where the old Duke's Roadhouse was (never went there so that's just what I've heard) so I imagine it will start looking more like Snuffer's after they settle in a bit more. It doesn't matter - I'm just thrilled they're still in Addison. read more

Great burgers. Group of 8 of us got the burgers and they were very good. I recommend the appetizer for the cheese fries with all the good stuff on the side. I am a fan of Snuffer's, and especially the Green Chili Swiss Burger. We go to the location in Addison a lot, and always get great service here. They serve big portion sizes, so many times I'll split the cheese fries and a burger with my husband. When I'm not in the mood for a burger, their veggie quesadilla hits the spot. One perk is that they always offer you a "to go" cup on your drink, so you can take some with you. read more

A nice live divey-burger shop. Not being originally from here, I wasn't familiar with Snuffer's - guess they're a chain. However, it didn't feel all sterile like a chain - I never would have known there are other locations. I came here with my boyfriend, my brother, his wife and their son as they were passing through town. Due to his travel schedule, we were there for a pretty early dinner (5:00) and the place was near empty. Food was good, portions were large and the service was very friendly. We ordered the large portion of cheese fries to share with the table, which was too big for even the 5 of us to handle. My burger was quite tasty. read more

open till 2am. I ordered some to-go at about 1am in the morning (probably not the healthiest idea but.. oh well ;) ) their cheddar fries come in a rectangularish bowl, lined with foil.
