I'm in town from Houston for a few days for work and wanted something close to the hotel. A burger is never a bad way to go so I walked over to Snuffer's. Sat at an empty bar but was quickly greeted by the bartender (Mat) who recommended the local brewed beer Hissy Fit (a lager). Great recommendation on the beer, an Octoberfest type taste, get it. I had a Classic burger and the cheese fries; I ordered the burger medium rare and while it wasn't quite "medrare" it was excellent. The cheese fries are a must have, the small is just fine. I debated a bowl of chili but the bartender (Mat) said he'd do a small side of chili for $1. Sold. Meal was excellent, I'm definitely coming back. read more

I hadn't been here in a couple of years because it's been out of my way but really wanted to go back. I REALLY wanted it to be as good as I remembered it but unfortunately it just wasn't. Their cheddar fries are as good as I remember them but the burgers are just not among the best in Dallas. I tried their green chile swissburger which I heard so many talk about. So I've heard so much about Snuffers and their fries ! We kinda went here on a whim because we were starving . So, the wait was kind of long to even get acknowledged once we were seated . Okay, I let that go. We got our menus and I ordered the Sirloin strips with fries. My friend ordered the chili cheese fries . My strips were great and tender. My friend's fries were sub par to me . Very bland fries . They definitely needed the chili cheese . You do get a huge portion however . I think they have great prices for the portions, so I give them a star just for that , but just didn't wow me . Not bad at all though . Once we had service , we had good service . I've been going to the Addison Snuffers for decades, but my love affair with their loaded fries has come to an end due to their poor customer service for takeout over the last few months. I work nearby so missing items and orders not ready when said have been duly noted. Today denotes the end of my patience as I waited outside in the "curbside order" parking spot for 15 min after texting...which was already several minutes after their "it will be ready at" time. Finally went in, saw several staff just hanging out as my completed order sat bagged and waiting behind the counter. Final straw was that the lid on the salad dressing was not properly on, and the dressing got all over my carseat. We came here yesterday for the first time as we are new to Texas. Coming from Calif we were hoping to find a good local place to come to for good food and drinks. I have to say we were so happy that we decided to try it because not only is the atmosphere good and inviting but the staff is REALLY friendly too! We both ordered their famous Loaded fries first and WOW those were great! We also both got the Classic hamburger and it was probably the BEST Hamburger we've had in a LONG time! Snuffers has ruined me. I don't feel satisfied with other hamburger places anymore. The burgers are never dry and also are a good size for the price. I really like the fried jalapeño and the bacon blue cheese burgers. I've had the fried pickles and the cheese fries as well. Both are excellent! The service is wonderful. The food runner said it will be $0.75. We asked to speak to the manager and the food runner became in a second the manager. He said I apologize but i have no authority but...... you are the manager. I very much enjoyed this meal and the overall atmosphere. I walked into small waiting area with no hostess in sight. And asked around to find out it's a seat ur self deal. So we quickly sat and were met by our waiter in no time. We ordered the chicken nachos, bacon burger, and chicken salad. Ordered BBQ hickory burger, swiss mushroom, onion strings snd sweet potato bites. Here's how it played out: 1. BBQ sauce was runny, too sweet and tasteless in burger. Tasted more like a plain cheese burger 2. Mushroom swiss was more like swiss cheese burger w very very shrooms to be seen 3. Onion "strings" are no more than huge chunks of chopped onion halves dipped in a salty batter and fried. There was not one "string" in the basket 4. Never got to taste sweet potato bites. Nice light batter and hit and juicy, but the smallest things i have ever seen. Hardly counted even as a bite. Not a great experience which was too bad as we were looking forward to it. I'm not sure if it was just a bad day to come in, however my experience was not the best. The staff, although not flat out rude, were not very welcoming. And the food was very very average. My friends and I had originally planned to eat here after looking at some reviews. The menu was full of classic American meals, so ordering was very easy. However once we got our food, nothing was very special about it. I had ordered some of the loaded French fries and I felt like I was just eating ingredients piled up on fries. So I had the Dr. Pepper-infused BBQ sauce bacon cheddar burger with a side of sweet potato tots (they're called something else, but you get the idea.) The verdict: Pretty solid grub. Lunch rush was a trickle at first, but by 12:30P the place was getting squishy. We arrived by noon, but not everyone else was as lucky and it looked like some waiting around was about to happen. Snuffers is what you would call your no-nonsense burger joint. The menu is very simple and straight to the point - one laminated page with your standard burgers appetizers and desserts. I remember back then when Fridays and Chili's had brief, no-nonsense menus like that and larger crowds, I might add. After 10 to 20 years, Snuffer's restaurant still has the crowds. Snuffer's awesome and well-seasoned Cheddar Fries are legendary and the highlight of the entire meal. You can load it up with the fixins to create this massive heart stoppin artery cloggin concoction that's super unhealthy but equally tasty. The hamburgers come in sizes available of 1/4 lb and 1/2 lb. It comes standard as Medium Rare so if you prefer it cooked another way let them know. Normally I don't like soggy fries, but the way the cheese mixed with the toppings and the potatoes made each bite chewy and cheesy which was excellent. Coming here while on a diet? BIG NO NO. You can forget about eating light at this establishment. We are talking about some serious burgers and fries. I had MASSIVE food coma right after that I haven't felt in quite some time. read more

Take a fork full and dip them in the thick rich creamy ranch dressing to load on some more calories. You may have to exercise a little extra to work these off, but every bite is worth it. We could barely finish them, but gave it a good try. These can't possibly be good for ones cholesterol count, but justify it by only gobbling these down once or twice a month ?? I must admit I've never had one of their burgers; several plates walked by with one of these humongous entrees, so it is on my to do (or to eat) list to try. Seems all the reviews I've read rate these high on the burger scale. One interesting observation: we noticed there is a $1.99 charge for the toppings. BF commented he had never seen this on the menu before, so this may be now an additional charge ??? However, it did not dissuade us, can't have that gooey, cheesy goodness without the toppings. However, on our last visit this week, BFF and I ordered our usual TS Margs with Grand Marnier. 1st attempt failed, we sent it back asking that our drink be that beautiful golden color; not enough GM in 1st one. 2nd arrived, no improvement, much too tart Our friendly server took them back; in a moment the bartender comes to our table. He suggested that he just give us each a shot of GM with our drinks but that there would be an extra charge. We agreed without asking how much. Our bad for sure. We just wanted our darn TS margs :) Enjoyed our apps and two drinks. out check came, and I am sure my face drained all of its color. We were each charged $41 for two margs. $20.50 for one drink; it was those shots of GM which hiked up the cost. NOTE - we have always ordered our TS's the same way here @ Snuffer's and were never charged this much. Often, they were the regular price of a TS, $10.50, even with added GM. Could have brought our own bottle of GM for less than that. :( Lesson learned; always ask the price when requesting something extra. Brought some out-of-town folks here on a greasy night. It was later in the night so it wasn't very busy and winding down, which always makes me a little weary, but our server was very nice and attentive the whole time and not looking at her watch to try and shoo us out. We got a HUGE order of Loaded Fries, which were the jam....literally so much delicious cheddar that each bite was jamming something in there! Amongst the group we got a few burgers and chicken sandwiches to go around and an assortment of drinks. The burgers looked and tasted pretty good, nothing OVER the top amazing, but they definitely do a solid burger here. The Chicken sandwiches were not as flavorful though. The atmosphere is nice and they have $1 Bud Light Drafts (10 oz.)...all day every day so I definitely took advantage of 2 or 3 of those. We came here for the cheese fries, and they did not disappoint. My coworker and I split the large cheese fries for $8 and added bacon (chives and jalapenos too, but mainly bacon) for another $2. We couldn't finish them (we really tried) and that was the only thing we ordered, so if you're grabbing a burger too, I would recommend splitting the $4 size for 2 people and the $6 size if you're just there for the fries like we were - make sure you get them loaded!! One experience spoiled this location for me. I like the cheese fries and the food is decent, but with this particular location I wasn't treated very good. My fiancee and I got takeout here. We walked in, asked where to get take out, and were pointed to the bar. The bartender took our order and asked if we would like any drinks, we said "no thank you" and waited for our food. I paid about $20, and a reasonable wait later she handed us our food and we left. Now, in my opinion, that did not warrant a tip. We didn't order drinks, and the bartender only entered our order into the computer. If we had ordered drinks or if there was some special service, I would have tipped a little. So I was surprised when my bill was $5 more on my credit card statement than on my receipt, effectively a 25% tip! I called the manager, he said he would go through and find the order in the computer to see what happened. The next day he called and told me that the bartender probably entered the tip wrong when she enters all the receipts in at the end of the day. I find that hard to believe but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but the manager was unapologetic and at one point rude when he explained "now we don't normally do this but I'll refund the $5". I walked him through my order process and asked him if he thought it warranted a tip, he kind of dodged it and didn't answer. Almost a week later the charge was finally removed. It could have been an honest mistake, and I could even have accepted that I was wrong and she deserved a very small tip. But the experience and attitude of the manger is what turned me off and makes me think more that it was malicious and I was in the right. What? Another review of Snuffer's? Wasn't 24 enough? Well, this is the Addison location so it is different.......OK, not so much, it's fairly consistent with the others. I know there are a number of us on a trek to find the best burger in town and you can only do that by including Snuffers in the mix. Some may scoff because it is a chain but it wasn't always and it became one because folks loved the one on Greenville so much. For that alone Snuffer's belongs in the battle for the best, but the tasty, hefty burgers make it a serious contender. Snuffer's does so many things right. The half-pound patty always tastes fresh, is generally prepared to your specifications (including medium rare which some others will not even offer), and is juicy/messy. The topping combinations are solid but not noteworthy, except for the cheddar fries burger , which allows you to save a couple of bucks on a side order. Once you take the first bite of a burger, it is hard to put down and will fill your gut in no time flat. There is one negative, however: the liberal use of seasoned salt. Hmm, is half the shaker just not enough? This can be a major flaw at times and stands as a substantial obstacle, keeping it from the top of the polls in the BCS (Burger Chompability System) The cheddar fries are legends in their own right but elevate into cardiac insanity when order loaded with heaps of bacon, jalapenos and ranch dressing. Any burger plus these fries will connect with your taste buds better than Romo to Crayton against a saggy Rams defense. I venture to say that this 1-2 punch collectively wallops all the competition. A lot of plusses here but my review would be only 3 and 1/2 stars because of service. I always get the feeling that customer service is not a priority at any of their locations. Management probably knows that you will keep coming back for the burgers regardless, so a crummy server here and there won't kill your burger buzz. Sadly they would be right! read more

My brother took me for a bonding moment. He loves to eat and he wants company. It was funny, because while we were eating on the TV an eating contest was going on. Something about people devouring food without taking a breathe makes me sick while eating a hamburger. My brother got the half pound cheeseburger and I got a quater pound hamburger. Also, a side of their infamous Cheddar fries. It's a heart attack on a plate. As a recommendation, go plain first if you are unsure of what to get. If a restaurant can make good plain food, then you got a solid restaurant. Upgrade to fancy when you return. There was plenty of food leftover for us, because we couldn't finish everything and had to get a to-go box. You are getting your money's worth. Expections should be kept in check. It is the most obscene order of cheese fries your eyes will ever witness and your mouth will ever taste. Delicious. If you want indulgent and cheesy, you want the cheese fries. The jalapeno burger I ordered was pretty damn on point. First time I had a burger where I could taste each and every ingredient in every bite. Yum. The ambiance is sort of odd to me - it has this outdated, diner, hole in the wall feel. I wouldn't eat here often unless I was in the mood to eat 5000 calories worth of cheese fries in one sitting.
