Katie and Matt were phenomenal guides and really created a safe space in what can be deemed as being scary to many. They furthermore create opportunities to bond and celebrate each other through the process of repelling and learning to repel, while knowing their audience and really bringing the perfect hospitality feel. This was well worth the money and the time that they give you out there - they also provide equipment and gear for you at no added cost, which has not been the case at many of the other things that we have done. They also will provide you with choices of how or where you can propel within your comfort and based on skills and teach you how to dry repel prior to actually doing it which really helps with boosting confidence - I was very fortunate and comfortable with being vulnerable and ventured through the waterfall! Cannot guarantee this to anyone, yet it made my experience very memorable and put me into a huge state of humility and peace. We will be back again and I hope it is sooner over later! I hope that people find this review invaluable as well. Cheers, Stephen

This is the only people who do repel off of waterfalls, the concierge at our hotel did not even know about them so I made sure and called them and did a little research and booked it. She had to take an Uber and they sent us coordinates which was weird and she ended up walking a bit because it was on private land. The following is her review: Very cool . would do again. They remembered my name and made sure I had pictures and videos taken of me even though I was there by myself. Very encouraging and helpful on the waterfalls on the island. We did zip lining today and she said she like the waterfall repelling better. So I guess I must endorse these guys, next time I will go as well.

We'd never done anything like this before, but from the moment we arrived, the team made us feel completely at ease. During our tour, the guides mentioned that the same company that designs ski lifts across the country engineered their zip lines -- that alone boosted our confidence in the safety and professionalism of the entire setup. You can tell they take their safety protocols seriously, without sacrificing any of the fun. The tour includes five incredible zip lines with breathtaking views -- you're literally flying across the same backdrops used in movies like Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones. It's unreal. One of the highlights was the 25-foot-deep swimming hole, complete with a mini zip line that lets you zip and splash right into the water. Our daughters loved it, and honestly, so did we! A massive shoutout to our guides -- Julia, Zeek, and Ryker. They were fun, knowledgeable, and created a super positive, relaxed environment that made the entire experience unforgettable. If you're visiting Kauai and want something adventurous, beautiful, safe, and genuinely memorable, I highly recommend Outfitters Kauai. We'll be talking about this day for years.

We especially loved the winter paddle-only option--it was just right for me and my mom's needs and allowed us to fully enjoy the surroundings at a comfortable pace. And he helped carry our sandwiches (which are included in the tour price) to the waterfall. We just had to do our part of carrying the drinks, cookie, and chips (also included in the tour price) in our dry bags. Steven also shared a lot of stories and cultural backgrounds about Wailua River and parts of the trail leading up to Secret Falls. We were provided with double-kayaks, and my partner and I were able to get through the somewhat rough stretch of Wailua River, though we often fell behind the others (haha!) but thankfully we did not flip over into the water! It's about 40-45 minutes in each direction and there is a designated section at the trailhead where we will leave our kayaks. Lots of other tour groups and those hiking and paddling independently! It had been a few years since kayaking a longer distance; the last time for me was Flat Island and Mokulua Islands in Kailua on Oahu in January 2017. As for the trail itself, yes it is muddy here and there and can be slippery. Therefore, it is best to use closed-toe water shoes and a hiking stick, as you will have to cross through at least 5 streams along the way and depending on the weather and other factors, the water level can get up to the knees or even waist-high and the currents can be strong too! The wet season is certainly a good time to see Uluwehi Falls (Secret Falls) at its finest! My oh my was it flowing! Lots of other people came to take a dip in the water, and eat their lunch nearby. Be aware, there are lots of feral chickens in the area so you really have to keep an eye on your food, otherwise they will literally steal it if you are not paying attention! When we got back to Kayak Kauai's main offices and store, we all had some delicious pineapple, and definitely much-needed after a long excursion! Overall, this is such a great experience and I would totally recommend it!

All i brought with me were my swim fins and an extra bicep leash I had. I was looking for a legit bodyboard rental and the shops I had been to and/or the beach side rental shacks had boards that just werent up to par. I was down the road at Tamba buying tees and the guy there (thankfully) referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop when I asked if he knew of any places that had quality bodyboard rentals. He told me Mike at KBS rented Mike Stewart Science Bodyboards.... The look of shock on my face was probably photo worthy. I couldnt believe the type of place I had been looking for was just down the road. It was already my 2nd time in Kapaa by that point. Kapaa Beach Shop is on your right side along Kuhio Highway if you are coming from the Lihue area. It's right after Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. It has about 4 dedicated spaces out front in its gravel driveway. They rent everything from beach umbrellas, chairs, bicycles, diving and snorkeling gear... You name it. You need it for the beach, he has it. It was jamming with customers the both times I went there but Mike was gracious and helpful with all of us. I was able to rent a hybrid Mike Stewart Science bodyboard which I used at a few beaches on the island. It was great. Thick board with lots of float to it, making catching waves easier. It also came with a Gyroll bicep leash... It was like a setup I would gladly have every day back home. I'm thankful to Mike for the Aloha and just being super cool in providing a quality rental. We chatted it up a bit and you can tell he is legit and really knows his stuff. I HIGHLY recommend you go see Mike at Kapaa Beach Shop for all your beach rental needs. He is the man. Mahalos Mike! Shout out to Chaos the shop dog at KBS. Chee!

Since we planned this trip last minute, finding campsites in the more remote areas was tough. Thankfully, KRC provides an excellent travel guide that not only lists camping spots but also gives insider tips on how to make the most of your trip. That guide was a lifesaver. It led us to Kumu Camp, which was perfect for our group of six, and even pointed us toward hidden gems like Anini Beach. Without it, we probably would have been stuck scrambling. The camper itself was fantastic. It was comfortable, well-equipped, and thoughtfully stocked with everything you need. What stood out most, though, was the team. Jonathan and his crew were communicative, flexible, and genuinely cared about making our experience unforgettable. When I wanted to extend my stay, they made it seamless. When I accidentally left a few belongings behind, they went out of their way to return them. That kind of service is rare. If you are considering car camping in Kauai, here are a couple of takeaways for success. Book early if you can because campsites do fill up, especially near the busier beaches. Make sure to use KRC's travel guide because it is full of reliable, local recommendations you will not find on Google. And most importantly, embrace flexibility because the best part of car camping here is the freedom to pivot plans and discover new places. Kauai Rooftop Campers does not just rent vehicles. They give you the keys to experience the island in a way that feels adventurous, authentic, and stress free. Highly recommend them for anyone wanting to see Kauai beyond the resorts.

You pull your kayak (on wheels) to the launch site and push off from there; it's definitely doable. We opted to go without a guide and simply followed the provided map, which was very straightforward. However, in my opinion, the activity wasn't worth the price. Paddling two miles each way was pretty strenuous, especially with kids. The hike to Secret Falls was extremely muddy, particularly after rain, and we saw lots of people slipping and falling. It's not a huge problem, but you'll definitely want to plan for a shower afterwards. They do provide a large wet bag, but ours smelled strongly of body odor from repeated use without proper cleaning--definitely unpleasant. If I could do it over again, I would have canceled and just explored the state park on foot. For the amount of effort required, I felt the experience was overpriced.
