They were great! We had a last-minute change of plans for our camping trip and needed to find the gear for the same day. We checked Walmart, Costco, Home Depot - all sold out. By 4pm we almost gave up but then saw Pitch A Tent online and decided to try - they were incredibly kind and helped us out with the whole outfit (tent, sleeping bags, mats) . The whole process took minutes, the gear was good and functional, and the price was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

Pitch a tent had everything we needed for camping. The pick up process was also pretty straightforward!

Really lovely people and great customer service. Answered all our questions for the kalalau hike and the gear was great + affordable! Highly recommend them.

My husband and I rented equipment from Pitch A Tent to hike the Kalalau trail and camp at Kalalau beach at the end of March. We ended up hiking just a few days after the road and hike re-opened after heavy rains and a landslide in the area. Our experience with them was great from the very start. They helped us decide which equipment would work best for us and then stayed in communication with us about the trail and road openings. The equipment was clean (even a few things brand new!) and the contactless pick up and drop off were easy and very covid friendly. Highly recommend using them for any rental equipment on Kauai. Thanks for helping to create an unforgettable trip!

All i brought with me were my swim fins and an extra bicep leash I had. I was looking for a legit bodyboard rental and the shops I had been to and/or the beach side rental shacks had boards that just werent up to par. I was down the road at Tamba buying tees and the guy there (thankfully) referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop when I asked if he knew of any places that had quality bodyboard rentals. He told me Mike at KBS rented Mike Stewart Science Bodyboards.... The look of shock on my face was probably photo worthy. I couldnt believe the type of place I had been looking for was just down the road. It was already my 2nd time in Kapaa by that point. Kapaa Beach Shop is on your right side along Kuhio Highway if you are coming from the Lihue area. It's right after Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. It has about 4 dedicated spaces out front in its gravel driveway. They rent everything from beach umbrellas, chairs, bicycles, diving and snorkeling gear... You name it. You need it for the beach, he has it. It was jamming with customers the both times I went there but Mike was gracious and helpful with all of us. I was able to rent a hybrid Mike Stewart Science bodyboard which I used at a few beaches on the island. It was great. Thick board with lots of float to it, making catching waves easier. It also came with a Gyroll bicep leash... It was like a setup I would gladly have every day back home. I'm thankful to Mike for the Aloha and just being super cool in providing a quality rental. We chatted it up a bit and you can tell he is legit and really knows his stuff. I HIGHLY recommend you go see Mike at Kapaa Beach Shop for all your beach rental needs. He is the man. Mahalos Mike! Shout out to Chaos the shop dog at KBS. Chee!

This was my second time car camping in Kauai, but my first time renting with Kauai Rooftop Campers,…read moreand I can honestly say they made all the difference. Since we planned this trip last minute, finding campsites in the more remote areas was tough. Thankfully, KRC provides an excellent travel guide that not only lists camping spots but also gives insider tips on how to make the most of your trip. That guide was a lifesaver. It led us to Kumu Camp, which was perfect for our group of six, and even pointed us toward hidden gems like Anini Beach. Without it, we probably would have been stuck scrambling. The camper itself was fantastic. It was comfortable, well-equipped, and thoughtfully stocked with everything you need. What stood out most, though, was the team. Jonathan and his crew were communicative, flexible, and genuinely cared about making our experience unforgettable. When I wanted to extend my stay, they made it seamless. When I accidentally left a few belongings behind, they went out of their way to return them. That kind of service is rare. If you are considering car camping in Kauai, here are a couple of takeaways for success. Book early if you can because campsites do fill up, especially near the busier beaches. Make sure to use KRC's travel guide because it is full of reliable, local recommendations you will not find on Google. And most importantly, embrace flexibility because the best part of car camping here is the freedom to pivot plans and discover new places. Kauai Rooftop Campers does not just rent vehicles. They give you the keys to experience the island in a way that feels adventurous, authentic, and stress free. Highly recommend them for anyone wanting to see Kauai beyond the resorts.

We'd never done anything like this before, but from the moment we arrived, the team made us feel completely at ease. During our tour, the guides mentioned that the same company that designs ski lifts across the country engineered their zip lines -- that alone boosted our confidence in the safety and professionalism of the entire setup. You can tell they take their safety protocols seriously, without sacrificing any of the fun. The tour includes five incredible zip lines with breathtaking views -- you're literally flying across the same backdrops used in movies like Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones. It's unreal. One of the highlights was the 25-foot-deep swimming hole, complete with a mini zip line that lets you zip and splash right into the water. Our daughters loved it, and honestly, so did we! A massive shoutout to our guides -- Julia, Zeek, and Ryker. They were fun, knowledgeable, and created a super positive, relaxed environment that made the entire experience unforgettable. If you're visiting Kauai and want something adventurous, beautiful, safe, and genuinely memorable, I highly recommend Outfitters Kauai. We'll be talking about this day for years.

And he helped carry our sandwiches (which are included in the tour price) to the waterfall. We just had to do our part of carrying the drinks, cookie, and chips (also included in the tour price) in our dry bags. Steven also shared a lot of stories and cultural backgrounds about Wailua River and parts of the trail leading up to Secret Falls. We were provided with double-kayaks, and my partner and I were able to get through the somewhat rough stretch of Wailua River, though we often fell behind the others (haha!) but thankfully we did not flip over into the water! It's about 40-45 minutes in each direction and there is a designated section at the trailhead where we will leave our kayaks. Lots of other tour groups and those hiking and paddling independently! It had been a few years since kayaking a longer distance; the last time for me was Flat Island and Mokulua Islands in Kailua on Oahu in January 2017. As for the trail itself, yes it is muddy here and there and can be slippery. Therefore, it is best to use closed-toe water shoes and a hiking stick, as you will have to cross through at least 5 streams along the way and depending on the weather and other factors, the water level can get up to the knees or even waist-high and the currents can be strong too! The wet season is certainly a good time to see Uluwehi Falls (Secret Falls) at its finest! My oh my was it flowing! Lots of other people came to take a dip in the water, and eat their lunch nearby. Be aware, there are lots of feral chickens in the area so you really have to keep an eye on your food, otherwise they will literally steal it if you are not paying attention! When we got back to Kayak Kauai's main offices and store, we all had some delicious pineapple, and definitely much-needed after a long excursion! Overall, this is such a great experience and I would totally recommend it!
