    Sizzling filet

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner here! I got the sizzling filet and he got filet Rossini, and both of the dishes had excellent sauces! His had a pate on it that was really delightful and mine had a soy/wine reduction that was unique and perfect. The owners are really nice too!

We had a great experience at The Snooty Frog! Very cozy restaurant with a nice family atmosphere, great service and quality food. Good idea for a date night! Highly recommend eating here and then walking next door to check out a play at the local theater! We'll be back, for sure!

We ended up here because of a Groupon deal, which seems a little ironic because there are a few complaints about Groupon deals scattered amongst the Yelp reviews - "the Groupon deal didn't allow this or that... blah, blah." Whatever. Groupon deals often have limitations, get over it - or don't get Groupon deals! I'm thankful for Groupon because without it, we probably never would have stumbled across this place... so Groupon did us a HUGE favor before we ever took a bite! The first thing we did (due to the Groupon gripes) was ask what we could have and what we couldn't have due to our Groupon deal and it was clearly and completely explained to us. We both chose specials - which were covered by our Groupon deal. My guest ordered the double cut pork chop and I ordered the smoked salmon fettuccine Alfredo. We shared back and forth and I felt both dishes were excellent. The pork was tender, juicy and very flavorful... the fettuccine rich, creamy and also done "just right". The thing that struck me most was the delicate balance of flavors achieved in the kitchen - the chef clearly has some talent in this area.

Wow, this place is still a hidden "Gem" I first came here in 1987 & loved it. I have been many times since then but not in the last few years. The ambiance, food & quality of service is second to none. #Eatlocal & enjoy their great food.

While their menu is small and the food is somewhat pricey, this is a cute and lovely place for a nice meal. I would recommend stopping here for a special occasion or celebration. The owners/staff are very friendly, and they restaurant is quite clean! They play soft piano music in the background and keep the lighting mostly muted, which creates a nice ambience. I recommend sitting in the back during the cooler months as they have a nice small electric fireplace. I visited this restaurant recently with my mom and we were greeted and seated right away, and told what the special for the evening was (salmon), along with the soup (white onion). My mom and I both wanted to try the soup, so we each ordered a cup of that, then shared a plate of the salmon special. What a treat! The soup was to die for....it was so tasty, j wanted to fill a big tub of it and swim in it - haha!! Seriously though, it was delectable and I hope they offer it again. Then there was the salmon....can I just say, WOW?! The fish was cooked to perfection and the dill sauce it was served with was rich in flavor and creamy to perfection. I need that recipe stat! It was served with rice and sauteéd winter squash. Absolutely wonderful! While I did not order any wine, I did notice they have a rather large wine list with wonderful options. My mom ordered a glass of wine and she rather enjoyed it! Definitely a neat place to stop by for a nice, upscale dinner of glorious tasting home cooked food with a fancy flair!!

That part was yummy. Husband's steak was so good!I'm definitely getting that next time. I first made a reservation online, one week in advance for 5pm on a Tuesday. In the reservation notes, I specifically requested a table on the patio (I have a toddler that is in the throwing food on the ground phase), requesting a high chair and stating this dinner is for a 69th birthday dinner. When we arrived 5 minutes before our scheduled reservation, we had to wait almost 15 minutes past our reservation because our table outside was not ready. We had to wait for them to get cushions for the patio chairs, wait time 15 minutes. When they brought us back to the table stating it was "ready" - it wasn't; the table was not wiped down, there was not a high chair, no napkins/utinsils - needless to say, the table was still not ready. After almost 30 minutes past our reservation time, we finally sat down. Our server Nick was cool, personable and provided good recommendations. The best thing we ordered was the lobster roll. One of the best I have ever tried. They have a good selection of starters, seems to be their bread and butter at Eldo, just the starters. The oysters 1/2 doz for $24 was pretty good, nice and fresh oysters. The following entrees were pretty salty which included the Eldo Burger and Bolognese. My shrimp skewers were okay, it came with 2 skewers and the rest of the plate was a cucumber salad, a lot of roasted potatoes and 2 large homemade pita flatbread, nothing to write home about with the entrees. Pretty disappointing all together with the main dishes. With a bill of $325, sad to say Eldo is overrated in my honest opinion, sadly not rushing back for a second visit anytime soon.

But how could I know that experience (and the service!! OMG the service!!!) was going to be so outstanding, that I would come back again the next evening to eat again?? The first night it was happy hour, with a spicy jalapeño mule, buffalo cauliflower, smoked Brussel sprouts, and a couple of beers. But the service was so attentive (almost too attentive) that we felt like we had to watch for gaps so we could take a bite or a sip in between folks checking in to see if we needed more food, more refills, or just a friendly hello! The next night was burgers, and brews, and bloody Marys - and again, the most amazing thoughtful, interactive and attentive service I have ever seen! And being a business owner, I can tell you that it's not enough to have a beautiful setting on the river with great views and a decent menu. Having servers, managers, bartenders (hell even the bussers had smiles and were polite and friendly) absolutely seals the deal. I really have no reason to go back to to El Dorado Hills in the near future other than work, but because of this single restaurant experience, I can tell you I am trying to find more reasons to return!

Then the first thing that caught my attention was the poke bowls starting at $22. It felt like an obscene number (and now, I assume that it is on par with this shopping center), but I was really wanting poke for lunch. The staff were friendly, but I was even more disappointed with how liberal they were with the rice and greens, but then throttled the fish servings with the cookie dough scooper. It was even more tough when I see the other working helping out their friend and giving an extra half scoop. After trying it, it definitely wasn't worth $24 for the medium, but it was quite tasty. While I would default to the 3 out of 5, I did appreciate the worker doing the sauces in a separate bowl with the veggies and non-marinted fish, while keeping the marinated fish in the bowl. I appreciate this intentionality, and would come back in a heartbeat if it was priced at even 16/18/20. But unless I really wanted poke again, I don't see myself paying that much again for it.

We had a reservation for 14 guests, so the restaurant should have been prepared for our group. We were told they didn't have enough employees working, but that shouldn't have come as a surprise with a reservation in place. We were celebrating two milestones, but unfortunately, the restaurant made sure we regretted going there to celebrate our events. The service was honestly horrible from start to finish. Our waiter barely checked on us, never smiled, and seemed like he didn't want to interact with or serve our table. When he did come by, he would quickly drop things off on the table and walk away, leaving us waiting and having to constantly look for assistance. We spoke with the manager hoping things would improve, but he didn't seem concerned at all. Overall, our group left feeling ignored, unwelcome and more like an inconvenience to the restaurant. All four of us will make sure to spread the word that this restaurant does not welcome large parties or anybody for that matter.

Yay! Our new favorite lunch place on Main Street!…read more We just stopped by last weekend, we've been wanting to try this place out but it just hadn't happened.... Last Monday we decided to have lunch there, one of our regular places is closed Mondays and this place was open so we checked it out...and we're SO SO glad we did! Atmosphere was nice and server was very friendly from the moment we walked in. First thing I noticed; $5 mimosas!! I asked if they did anything other than orange juice and yes, they had several other options so I had the cranberry version. Delicious! I went with their mac and cheese, my partner got the basic hamburger. Mac and Cheese -- definitely very bacon forward, much more than I prefer. That being said, I still liked it, it also had sour cream and green onion on top. Bacon lovers will LOOOVE this version, there is LOTS of it and every bite you can taste it. Normally I prefer my mac & cheese with no bacon or just a bit here and there, I prefer to taste more of the cheeses.....again, it still tasted good, its a good serving and I ate half and had enough to save for the next day at work. Creamy and well made, again I just prefer to taste more cheese than bacon. I wouldn't order this again but like I said, a bacon lover will LOVE this version. Now, my partner's burger was Incredible. We are PICKY with our burgers, and we both thought this one was fantastic. Big, and great ratio to the bun. He ordered it medium and asked for "a little char" and they made it perfectly. I took a bite and yeah, I'd order that for sure. The fries were great, too. Overall we were super happy with our lunch, I thought it was priced fairly as well. We will definitely be back!!

The pitfalls of the restaurant seem to be entirely the service. Most recently we went to Franny's on Mother's Day. We had reservations and walked in, on time. We were initially sat in a nice booth in the front of the restaurant. It was my wife and I plus our 2 kids, the table size seemed appropriate. After being sat, we sat without talking to a server for 10+ minutes, not even getting waters. Eventually, when someone did come, it was a waitress/hostess telling us that there had been a mix up, and we needed to move. We weren't excited on the idea, as we were happy where we were, but we moved to the back of the restaurant. This time we sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by any wait staff. At this point it is 9:25 and we've been seated for 25 minutes without even water. Finally a waitress comes, and takes our drink order, and our food order as we'd definitely had ample time to look over the menu. About 9:50 the food arrives. My wife and kids' food comes and is great. My food comes and looks off, and the waitress tells me that the kitchen accidentally made me a "veggie" scramble instead of the chorizo that I had ordered, but that she'd get me some bacon and all was well. I asked what was in the veggie scramble and was told it has mushrooms, which is a hard pass for me. She told me she could have what I had actually ordered made but it would "take a long time". I said O.K. - what else was I going to do? Finally it comes, and my wife is done eating, and the kids are close, so, I asked for it to be "boxed up". The waitress rolled her eyes and set to the task. I'm not a restaurant snob - but I really expected an apology or something to be "comp'd" due to the rough experience, but nope, full bill and no apology. Regrettably, despite Franny's being a local joint and having good food, we won't be back.
