It has been a few years since we have eaten here. Came in for a late lunch and the place was empty. The male owner was serving us and seemed very rushed. That was not a good feeling, but then he also did not speak English well. He messed up three of the four items we ordered and of course they all cost more than what we ordered. When we got the bill and told him, he got the cook and we were able to settle everything out easily. We were told that the owner's wife was out so he was serving. We were happy to hear that his serving was temporary :). I am not sure if we received the lunch item or dinner item because our bill was wrong, but I ordered the chile verde chimichanga which comes with rice and beans. It was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious! My partner had the bean and cheese lunch and he loved it as well. The salsa was flavorful and mild. All of the food was mild so next time I will ask for some spice! The restaurant is a good size and festive looking. It was clean and comfortable and the prices were good! It's been a couple years since we ordered take out from here and it was a bad experience unfortunately tonight when we did. Ordered half chicken which husband enjoyed but the rest was thrown out. 4 chicken flautas that were so burnt the meat looked like burnt steak. The chips they added for free were dark brown, the jalapeño poppers over cooked and dark brown was also missing any ranch for dipping. Lastly, we ordered 2 carne asada tacos and the meat was also burnt black and dark brown bits, no lime served on the side for these. After leaving a 25% tip online we'd hoped to have an enjoyable meal but we were disappointed. Also surprised at whoever packaged the food, letting it be served in that condition was concerning. We'll try elsewhere next time we are in the mood for good Mexican food. read more

Always a win here... low key, casual experience... truly, don't expect comfortable seating. It's bare bones table and chairs with soccer playing in the background!! Average at best. Most likely canned beans. Wanted to like it as it is local but can't say that I would go back.

Good service but when I got home, the rice was crunchy and the pupusas were undercooked.

I love their carnitas fajita taco salad. There are not too many restaurants that have really good carnitas, and they kill it!

Regretfully, I posted a 5 star review on September 4, 2023 that I now want to delete. I've almost always picked up my food to go and I know they run a little slow so I always add 10 minutes to whatever time they give me but today I decided to dine in...what a huge mistake. The service is atrocious and painfully slow beyond anything I've ever experienced anywhere else. There were no other customers dining and there were at least 3 employees in the kitchen. All I ordered was the lunch special and it shockingly took 30 minutes to be served a scrawny enchilada with luke warm watery beans on the plate. I've been a loyal customer for 5 years but I'll never return to Fernando's again, under any circumstances. read more

Consistently good Mexican food at a good value. My current favorite menu item is the chili rellano. My husband loves their enchiladas. It's a favorite with our family, friends, and neighbors. We get take out food here on average-at least - every 10 days with generally the same result - we are always full of great tasting food. We love the tacos (chicken and shrimp), super chicken burrito, chicken enchiladas, etc. If you are wondering... YES, I believe Fernando's has a new owner(s). Omg so I did my homework. It is Salvadoran. So the pouposas (sp) are excellent. Lots is melty cheese and mild peppers. Homemade corn tortilla filled with melty lovely cheese. Like a Salvadoran grilled cheese sandwich . Lovely! Melty cheesy good with homemade salsa and slaw. For less than 4 bucks. Then I ordered a tamale of corn or lote. Sweer...like desert tamale with sour cream. So good. So sweet. Also less than 4 bucks. Ordered the homemade corn tortillas. Perfect. OK I live in Mexico. These were Perfect. This is my favorite restaurant up north here. Fresh real food. Great food. When visiting me m in El Dorado Hills I always go to. Great reasonably priced food for handcrafted Salvadoran cousine. Food is pretty good. Salsa is good. I always get the shrimp enchiladas and they're consistently good. Ranch on the salads is super watered down (weird), but everything else is good. We had group of 11 people for a mid-day dinner. Everyone gave us their orders ahead of time, and we delivered our take-out orders to Fernandos around 1 pm. Fernando's was GREAT! All the orders were ready in a little over an hour. Each container was labeled with the person's name, and all the sides were included. The food was really good, as usual. We so appreciated Fernando's care and helpfulness, and they made our dinner a big success. Gosh waitress rushed us thru everything even though they are barely busy. Discrepancy on their menu. The new owner can say whatever she wants but look at the menu. It is clear. Just soo disappointed. Things are tough but if u don't want to honor your menu change it. So we were charged incorrectly. Called back the owner answered the phone and as she did when we were in the restaurant all she did was argue. We have gone to this place since it opened. No more. Delicious, well-crafted, fresh food!! I love this restaurant and am so glad it is so close to my house. I often get a la carte items to go like shrimp tacos or enchiladas but I dine there when I have a friend to go with me. We always enjoy it. I haven't been this disappointed with a meal in a long time. Some friends of ours gave us a 50.00 gift certificate to this place as a "thank you", and after eating here- I am starting to wonder if I still want them as friends (Hahaha). Nothing about the food or service is worth coming back for. In fact, the cheese papusa had to be the worst papusa I have ever tried. I ordered it for my son, tried a bite, and immediately realized that this restaurants yelp rating is over-inflated. For lunch, I opted for the carne asada and fries-which I swore came with rice and beans based off what the menu said. Instead, I was served a flavorless slab of tough meat with equally unimpressive frozen French fries on the side. Not even their delicious homemade corn tortillas could save this disaster of a lunch. Trust me on this one, do not order the "so called" carne asada - it is awful. I won't come back. There are plenty of other restaurants to order papusas from that are far better than this place. 5 star corn tortillas, and 1 star food equals an overall 2 star rating from me. read more

went here with my husband and granddaughter for dinner. Waited too long for service, we almost left. Finally placed the order. Our food arrived , granted a hamburger is not Mexican food, but my granddaughter ordered one. it was a horrible. it was a paper thin Patty, overcooked, could have been a hockey puck. My plate, the steak fajitas was terrible, the meat was tough, and poor quality. I could not chew most of it. what a waste of 18.00 my husbands plate was no better. Poor quality of meat, hard to chew. We had rated here before with no issues, but we will not go back after this visit. Such a waste to leave food on the plate , not even wanting to take the leftovers home for our dog. read more
