Decent Asian style dessert place on Granville and 64th. Parking is plentiful on Granville, as well as the side streets. The place has that HK theme going, with the fancy wallpaper that I imagine would evoke memories of times past. Staff are friendly. They have stuff like bubble tea, as well as sweet soup. The signature dish here is the mahjong style pudding. I remember seeing people post it online when the place first opened. The sweet soup is pretty good. Not too sweet, and it looks like they use real fruit, which is nice. Wouldn't mind coming back at some point. Recommended.
A very nostalgic old Hong Kong decor dessert spot offering many authentic Hong Kong style desserts. Their expansive menu includes traditional hot dessert such as red bean soup, black sesame and almond paste. And also the more modern cold desserts such as mango, ube sago and even grass jellies. We opt to order their ube trio and it was heavenly. It had an authentic and strong ube taste. The sagos were cooked just right with the perfect texture and most importantly, it wasn't too sweet. We also ordered their instagram worthy mahjong tiles which is essentially red bean and coconut pudding. It's very cute and definitely instagram worthy. It's not too sweet and I liked that it came with a side of red bean sauce which made it less dry. The money is also made of edible paper but we didn't touch it cuz it felt weird eating it. However, it wasn't anything special and we wouldn't order it again. It was quite busy when we arrived on a Friday night but it's much easier to go in a smaller party. We were a party of 2 and walked right in even though others were waiting because they needed a bigger table. The place is clean and service was fast. They don't have a time limit even though they are busy so it's a great hang out spot. We would definitely be back to try out other items they have to offer.
Bit of a further drive for me but this spot has the softest tofu pudding in town. Although these days have been cooler, it's never a bad time for red bean with ice cream
This place is not only fun due to the cute and Insta worthy desserts, with the fun old HK inspired themed interior, but the desserts were actually also tasty! If you want to try a little bit of everything, like we did, go for the box! Most of it was good, although a couple flavors lacking sweetness but might be intended.
I came here for the Mahjong tiles dessert and enjoyed the experience. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but hey, you are paying a premium for the uniqueness and the presentation. Aside from the mahjong tiles, they do offer a variety of Cantonese sweet soup desserts that is a beloved classic. The mahjong tiles were 28.88CAD featuring 13 mahjong tiles, red bean sauce, and 2 edible rice paper that had a USD and HKD bill. I found it interesting that they did not do a CAD bill instead, since we are in Canada, but I digress. The mahjong tiles are red bean coconut pudding that were pretty refreshing, and the red bean sauce is not too sweet, my favorite type of sweetness. The aesthetics of this place features some wall art and some displays, perfect to look at while you briefly wait for the dessert. Overall, this is a pretty cool place and I would be open to going again to try the classic Cantonese desserts, but for most people that visit and on limited stomach space, definitely first go for the mahjong tile set!
With a large Hong Kong population, it's relatively easier to find HK-style desserts in Vancouver. Snackshot serves a variety of modern and traditional dessert soup. Every corner reminds me of HK here. Definitely a vibe to dine on a mahjong table in front of a mahjong wall. The storefront is clean and spacious, nicely decorated with neon signs and miniature display case. The traditional dessert soup were good enough to cure our homesick. The snack combo was my go-to street snack back in HK. I could finally satisfy my fish siu mai craving here.
This is a great place for Hong Kong style desserts. You'll find not too sweet and traditional desserts here. Great vibes inside for a casual hangout. The desserts can be cold and hot. Some taste more healthier than others like the desserts which include peach gum (great collagen benefits). Your order by scanning the code at the table. Service is decently fast.
Six months ago, we visited this dessert place in the afternoon. We ordered the snack combo and homemade red bean coconut pudding mahjong tiles. The mahjong tiles are so IG-able. The tiles were made with coconut and red bean gelatin, and the edible paper money was made out of rice paper. So cute! The snack combo came with curry fish balls, fish paste siu mai, and rice rolls with peanut butter and soy sauce. All three were delicious and reminded me of the street food in HK. Hope to try other stuff here next time!
This place is legit. I ordered the black sesame with walnut paste. It wasn't boiling hot which was perfect. I love the fact that it wasn't too sweet. I went there at 10:30pm on a Friday and had to wait for a table for two. Service was fast. The place was nicely decorated with HK related themes.
Casual HK dessert cafe, items were solid & IG worthy. We got the snack combo & Mahjong dessert. Mahjong ($28.98 CAD) was so cool, depicting the winning hand of 十三腰 vividly. Made of layers of coconut & red bean jello it was actually very yummy. The money ($100 USD & $1,000 HKD bills) were made of rice paper & tasted like it. Snack combo ($11.95 CAD) was very good, i love the combo of peanut sauce, hosin sauce & sesame. See video below for more visuals. https://youtu.be/4lleCXzY-YE
This is an interesting place for dessert. Ambiance: Fun interior with wall covered with Hong Kong memories on one side and small niches of miniature dioramas of kitchen, food etc on the other. I'm surprised Covid setup is still in place with acrylic panels between tables. Desserts served are very Asian in style and taste. Had the Mango Grapefruit Sago, Grass Jelly with Coconut Milk and Sago, Taro Coconut milk and Sago. The coconut items may be good for those who are watching their sugar, definitely not too sweet. Will come back to try other items.
Came here for some Hong Kong style desserts. Really brings back my childhood. Everything was delicious. Need to come back and try some of their other items.
I went this place once. My first...may very be a place to go more often. It's totally got that vibe of going to the Richmond Night Market INDOORS when Night Market is not in season! :D Delicious snacks and drinks. Had to try out this place for its unusually unique creative upside down drinks! The Upside Down Vitasoy and Red Bean drink is a worthy drink on the menu, highly recommend if you like these flavours. If you are into Ginger Ale, you might want to treat yourself to the Ginger Ale and Fruit Punch Upside Down drink. read more
Love their black glutinous dessert!!! The portion size of the bowl was pretty big and enough for two people. It's pretty sweet and the soup was not as thick. The tasting platter is enough to share with three people. Great sampler to try their dessert. The place is clean. The decor definitely reminds you of Hong Kong. The servers were nice as well. Tip: Bring cash, they dont accept card read more

Came in in the evening and we were seated quickly. We got the signature ma jeong dessert and a fishball/sui mai/ rice roll snack combo. The snacks were flavorful. I was not a big fan of the taste of the dessert but the presentation was excellent. They were also nice about giving us more sauce for the dessert at the end. read more

This is a great spot for late night dessert/ snack. There are many solid choices for Hong Kong style desserts & drinks! There's usually short wait during peak hours but moves quite quickly. My favourites are the snack combo with steamed rice roll, fish Siu Mai & fish balls ( so yummy & better value than nightmarket) ! I also like their tofu desserts with taro balls, mango sago, & black glutinous dessert! Portions are generous and it's not overly sweet. Also go the mahjong set with the edible , it was cool to take photos but dessert itself was just ok. Would only get it once but I will definitely be coming back over and over againe read more
Saw the reviews earlier for this place and was hesistant to try it, but Qoo next door was closed and we badly wanted dessert. Seemed like everyone else in the neighbourhood were thinking the same thing and boy it got busy on a Tuesday night. Love the painting and decoration on the wall/ The tofu pudding ($5.95) was a big whopping portion. Perhaps too much water in the bowl for me so it diluted the delicious ginger syrup, so I changed my game plan and took a scoop of tofu then drenched that with the syrup. My boyfriend enjoyed their mango grapefruit with ice cream and said the grapefruit added a nice tartness to the dish. Their assortment of street snacks was tasted and we enjoyed the sauces mixing together. Nothing mindblowing, just what one would get at a nightmarket. The bulldogs are a brilliant idea and all the combos sound like they would work well (Sprite and Ribena, red bean and soy milk). Was tempted to get one but wallet said no, another time. They are $7.95 a pop. Certainly this business could improve their profits by having smaller tables because most of the 4-person tables were only occupied by 2 people. Service was great, would come back to try their other desserts. read more

We ordered the sweet soup platter which comes with 9 little bowls in total. When we finished only 2 or 3 soups, the server came by asked whether we were finished. It makes us feel a bit of odd. But most of the time the service is good though. The taste is just so so. Some of my friends said it is too sweet for them. I feel it is not that sweet. It is a bit pricy when comparing the other similar sweet soup places. We might not recommend this place to our friends, unless they want to take some photos for the decorations. read more

Got here at 9pm on a Sunday night and there was a big line, at least 5-6 groups waiting. The space was big enough to put more 2-person tables and I hope they will do so since I can only see them getting busier as more people know about this place. The servers were working hard to make sure all tables were cleared right away and apologized and thanked everyone for the wait. Looks like a family run business which I can definitely appreciate. Unfortunately they ran out of the 9 items dessert sampler and the cold tofu pudding bucket by the time we were seated. Instead we got two sweet soups. At $6-7 a bowl, I would say it was good value for the the portion we were given. The black glutinous rice soup was yummy and as expected, however the taro sago we got was a bit bland and watery, with little taro pieces and flavour. When we were done, we wanted to give them some feedback on our experience since they were new and I was hoping they would appreciate our honesty. The guy who I spoke to was quick to apologize, thanked us for the feedback, and immediately proceeded to take the item off our bill, even though we had already finished the whole bowl. He came back and said he told the staff our comments and that the next time we come he hopes it will be up to our standard. For this service and attitude I would definitely return to try the rest of the menu (the sesame and walnut paste looks really delicious). Wishing this new business the best of luck! read more

Hot Tofu Pudding from @snackshot_ was the perfect dessert after a night here in Vancouver. We tried the original with ginger syrup and it was excellent! The store itself was also fun to sit in with its nostalgic Hong Kong inspired decor. We saw that they had these edible mahjong tiles that looks great. If anyone has tried it, please let us know how they are! read more

We truly enjoy our afternoon at Snackshot. A trip down memory lane with all the HK "landmarks" drawn on the wall, music video from the 80's and 90's, decor of "old Hong Kong" on display (well, "old" is really relative lol) We went early afternoon, so it was not busy at all, and enjoyed their dessert and street food snacks. Dessert is not too sweet (just right for Hong Kong taste) and service is fast (they are not busy), servers are very friendly and we had a nice chat about the shop's decor. It is a shame that it does not have more 5 stars. Really appreciate the owner thinking of all the Hong Kong elements at this unique sweet shop. If you're looking for aesthetic, this is totally here. The restaurant walls are lined with HK cartoon streets and traditional decor, but a classy touch. There are 8 tables in total, and you can't add tables. Each table seats about 4 people, so it's a better idea to come with less people. Not great for large groups. Also not suitable if your group is loud. The food is pretty pricey. I got the mahjong dessert and it was mediocre, $20. Vitasoy drink was also alright, but it is quite photogenic to take good photos. Wouldn't come back again as I didn't think it was worth the price. The place also wasn't extremely clean and wait times were longer than what they told us. We waited 30 minutes when they told us 5-10 minutes. read more

Vitasoy x red bean bulldog 6.95 蜜牙糖 (Saltine crackers + maltose) free Tasting platter21.95 Mango sago 6.95 Ube sago with ube ice cream 7.95 This was actually from their soft opening got lots to talk about here. Tasting platter as far as I knowbhheyre still working on improving it. The sesame paste dessert is not like the ones we're used to as it is very traditional and a bit odd for my liking everything else was just too sweet. And to add-on we also had the vita soy red bean bulldog and although very pleasing to the eye it's just too sweet. The saltine crackers is a very traditional snack found in Asia. I remember my parents always talking about these and tried them a couple times in Hong Kong. Pretty standard but often overlooked. The mango sago ... Man. We visited 2 days in a row and both days got the mango sago. First day it was great, delicious and well executed. But second day it was very watery and just bland. guess they still need to work on their consistency. The ube dessert was great I loved it and the ube ice cream was delicious as well lots of taro chunks throughout. OHOHOH honourable mention: tofu fa! We ordered one on the second visit and it was so WATERY. Like it was full of water with a splash of sweetener and the tofu. On the first visit we had it in the tasting platter located in the middle and it wasn't bad hence our second try at it. But no thank you no more. If you read this far... I applaud you and thank you for taking your time did you notice the supreme spoon peaking out how do I get my hands on one of these I think price wise it's priced well comparable to other places. Maybe I'll try again once the hype dies down a bit.. seeing as they only have around 9/10 tables read more

First time trying this place out and it was pretty good! We order the tofu bucket, their rocket drinks, the dessert platter and the street snacks. Everything was good especially the almond paste dessert.. reminded me how my mom use to make it. Warning if you want to try this place out go early! Family decided to checkout snackshot because curiosity got the best of us when we saw that they offered coconut pudding in the form of edible mahjong tiles. It's definitely a fun picture worthy food item but wasn't really worth the $20.00. Had fun eating it tho. Be warn the bills taste like Styrofoam lol but fun to eat. We also had the hot black sesame tofu which was nice and light. My favourite was the ube trio. Loved the little white tapioca pearls and mochi in the coconut milk. Overall it was a fun cafe. The decor is kinda random. One wall with a Hong Kong painted mural which was awesome and very picture worthy. The other side lol was random supreme parafanalia. Tissues were held in random kid cups lol. Service was good. Overall I'm very glad I tried it but not sure if I'd make a 30 min drive out to come here again. Giving it the 4 stars as my mother in law thought the mahjong tiles were real and proceeded to pick it up with her bare hands lol. We had a good laugh. read more

Came here really cause of the hype everyone is talking about. The food was on the pricier side. The food tasted normal, nothing out of the ordinary like it was so good I would come here again. They serve drinks, dessert and hot snacks. The decor was okay, to me, if you're going for that old style, either go for it or none at all, not half way. The furniture was clearly from Ikea. Constant flow of customers going there. You're probably actually better off going to Chatime or another place in Richmond for the same or similar food items for cheaper and tastier. read more
