Ok so is this not the cutest, trendiest wax bar you've ever seen?! I've tried out many wax places in the city, but I have been solely getting my waxes done by Valerie Gittings at Smooth Wax Bar since 2019! She owes this place and is the absolute best! Getting a wax is a pretty up-close and personal experience but Val makes you feel completely comfortable and she is so easy to talk to. We literally have the best conversations, it's like you get a mini therapy-vent sesh in addition to your wax LOL! Ok so now about the actual waxing part. If you've tried out different wax studios, like me, you'll know that not all estheticians treat your skin (& personal areas) with the same care. At Smooth Wax Bar, they pride themselves on being a wax only boutique, which I feel really makes them experts in their field. They only wax all day, every day and are really good at it! Another issue I've previously run into, is that a lot of wax studios will rush you in & out. And while your esthetician is rushing; areas of hair will be missed, skin will be burned or [in one case for me] ripped off, etc. You will not run into those issues here. Val really takes her time and I get a great wax from her every single time! You should definitely go check out this awesome wax bar! I went to Smooth Wax Bar a bit nervous because it was the first time getting a Brazilian. From the moment you walk in, you'll have a great experience! The reception are is small but very cozy and intimate. It has such a cool, peaceful and inviting feel. The woman working the welcome desk (I'm so sorry I've forgotten her name) is so friendly and helpful. She is fun to chat with so your short wait is pleasant. Diane is a great esthetician! She was friendly and put me at ease. Great conversationalist to keep your mind off the sting. She also explained what she was doing so I knew what to expect. The place is clean, stylish, and inviting...entering the reception area feels like walking into a chic but comfortable hotel lobby. All the staff from front desk team to aestheticians to co-owners are professional and fun to talk with. Scheduling usually runs on time and I'm in and out in less than 30 minutes. Booking was easy- and even easier after the first one (you can book online after your first appointment). Parking was on the street but I easily found a spot. It was a cute, small place. The appointment was about 5 minutes late, but everybody was very nice and they did a great job waxing. It was very casual and relaxed. Their bathroom was broken, which was slightly problematic since I drove a bit there and really had to use it, but hopefully that isn't a normal recurrence. I promptly booked another appointment here. I hadn't gotten my brows waxed in years, but after the pandemic and a baby I really needed it. I didn't want to go to a nail salon/ beauty salon type place so I searched on ig and found smooth wax bar which had great social media content. When I got there the place was SO Cute and chic , very clean and tidy. I was taken back on time and the woman who waxed me (Diana) was fabulous ! She knew what she was doing, she was thorough and a great conversationalist:) my eyebrows hadn't looked that good in years! Oh and pricing was right on point. I had a great experience for my first time here! I was seen by Diane for a French bikini wax & buttocks. Everyone was wearing masks inside, including the waiting room, which made me feel very safe. You can remove your mask once you're in your room. Check-in process was easy and I just had to sign a safety waiver. I was a little nervous and have very sensitive skin (I have issues with ingrown hair and have to take Advil before appointments), but Diane was very patient with me and helped me have a good experience. I really loved my previous esthetician in Denver, but Diane made it even less painful and helped me feel comfortable. I also appreciate when I asked how often I should come and she actually said longer than I expected, which made me feel like she was being honest with me and not just trying to have me come back more frequently. I also started using the product they recommended for ingrown hairs, so hopefully that will help make a difference for me going forward. I also brought in the product I was previously using and she applied it after the wax was done. As for the salon itself, it was very well maintained, very clean, and professional. That said, I've had a couple services here now and I appreciate the care and attention they show in the decor, sanitation, bedside manner, and overall comfort. No double dipping here! It is a haul from out in the county but the small staff and clean setting make it worth it. Never an awkward experience whether it's a Brazilian or eyebrow wax. My two favorite ladies to go to for waxes are Valerie (owner) and Sarah. During COVID, they've been so great at ensuring a safe space and maintaining guidelines. They send constant emails to let you know of how they're doing and what safety procedures they're updating. They also have a great online system for making appointments with the esthetician of your choice. Finally, their prices are great. The salon is beautiful, modern, clean, and the staff are all so kind and welcoming, while maintaining 100% professionalism. All of this matters so much when you have to go into a place and start taking clothes off. I wasn't uncomfortable at all! And, my FAVORITE part- NO DOUBLE DIPPING. They use a hard wax/hot wax combo technique, but think "hard wax" when considering this place. And, they use a new popsicle stick for each application! I never understood how places can get away with using one stick to do a whole hoo-ha. The math doesn't work. But not this place! I really can't recommend it enough, and will be a repeat (and loyal) customer for as long as I'm in BMore. Love!! read more

I LOVE Smooth! I go here on and off when I feel like I need a little extra self care in my life. The appointment process is easy, first one you call then you are able to make appointments online which is my preferred method. Checking in once you arrive is simple and the waiting area is small but nice, feels very spa like. Once your called back into a room the process is pretty simple. I've mostly gone to Diane for my wax needs but ive heard great things about everyone there. She knows what shes doing and will talk to you during the process so that you forget the brief moments of pain you go through. She also uses a mix of hard wax and strip wax and never any double dipping. The space feels clean without feeling sterile and Diane is a bit of a perfectionist so I walked away all cleaned up and even. While eyebrow waxing is a bit more than I'd normally pay the body waxing prices are great and comparable to other places ive been. read more
