I was in the area and saw that this place opened recently. I got the Smokin Spaniard which is espresso with condensed milk, cinnamon, and hazelnut. It was strong and not too sweet. They also had a little selection of Korean pastries. Lots of seating area which is good for local college students nearby to study. They have an app, staff is nice and the place is clean.

My friend and I stopped by here on the way to their apartment, and it was such a vibe! Drinks were sooo good! We shared our drinks w two other friends, who enjoyed all three lattes as well. My banana milk latte was exactly the flavor I was hoping for, with the nostalgic 바나나 우유 taste from my childhood! And the 죠리퐁 topping on the seasonal latte was such a cute touch Service was excellent- one of the employees checked on us as soon as we approached the line (though we were still checking the menu). He was patient with us when we were indecisive for a while. He also gave us two free stickers, maybe part of some promotion? The aesthetic is gorgeous! Loved the traditional Korean architectural style on the counter design (the woodwork frame pattern)

Located in a shopping center near Cal Poly Pomona. Good amount of parking and seating inside and out. Friendly staff and comfortable interior seating area. Got a Smokin' Spaniard as my drink. Great flavor of hazelnut and cinnamon. Got it hot this time, which I liked. I'll have to try cold next time to compare. Also got a Jalapeño Cream Cheese Musubi croissant, which was something I've never had before. Seems like a lot going on, but it was really good! Their selection of drinks and pastries are different from other places in the area. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying some of their other options.

Early morning - more people came as the day went on.

First time here and it was really good! Tried the Tiger Latte and it was just right - good coffee flavor but also sweet enough without being overly sweet. The breakfast sliders were enough for two (for a light breakfast) and the egg was soft and fluffy. It's four sliders on Hawaiian bread with egg, bacon, cheese, and avocado. It comes with a mayo based sauce and a spicy sauce (great kick!). Sauces are on the side, which is fine because it tasted good on its own, too. Also tried the jalapeño spam cream cheese pastry and that was tasty. The lemon earl grey sconkie (scone+cookie?) was also good; you can taste the earl grey and the lemon cream is a balanced sweet for the pastry. The service was friendly and the girl answered a few questions we had. It's a big place with lots of seating and even has some drink mixes for sale, along with some merch. Forgot to take pics of food and seasonal menu.

Drinks: Jeju Matcha Latte - organic ceremonial grade matcha sweetened with agave Service: made-to-order service; friendly & helpful staff Design: interiors is contemporary with Korean-retro styling and graphics; grey tiled floors, whie walls with wood accents, purple seats and Korean-inspired screen motif; very cool merch designs; cool cup & placemat designs with a cute tiger smoking a pipe Overall: if you want unique Korean-inspired espresso & matcha/hojicha drinks in a cool Korean cafe vibe, then check out this place in Pomona

First time here!! Glad we checked it out today! Located near the Cal Poly Pomona campus, Smoking Tiger Coffee Lab is where JJBoba used to be. Parking is plentiful and the coffee lab is clean, bright, and inviting. The mascot tiger is super cute, smoking a pipe. Friendly staff who help you through all the various choices, including what kind of espresso you would like in your drink! Lots of matcha and coffee drinks. We ordered an espresso tonic and a strawberry matcha, both iced. The drinks were made to order and ready in 10 minutes. The iced strawberry matcha (5/5!!! )brought nostalgic happy memories of my childhood--authentic strong bitter matcha like in Japanese tea ceremonies; --and strawberry milk like my mom made for us (fresh cut strawberries with honey and milk on top for a healthy dessert). So glad I tried it! My husband ordered a second drink, an iced Tiger latte (caramel and brown sugar espresso with oat milk) Lots of tables available where friends gather to catch up, or to study. Very packed on a Sunday afternoon! Highly recommend! Come check it out!

Was pleasantly surprised that smoking tiger has been expanding so much! I work near here so I've been coming with my coworkers to try out their drinks and pastries since it's walkable distance. I've been to their location in San Gabriel and can say this location is a lot better and spacious compared to that one. I got the app which has been convenient as I order online and can pick up right away. I've tried their seasonal drinks: black sesame hojicha and hotteok latte, and most recently, the raved pastry: cream cheese garlic bread. 1. Black sesame hojicha: 5/10 Was expecting more hojicha taste but left a bit disappointed. It was more grainy and not fully incorporated, also not a lot of black sesame taste actually; more ice. 2. Hotteok latte: 7/10 Loved that this drink was Hotteok-inspired as the nuts on the top was a nice add! This drink was very warm and cinnamon-y. As someone who doesn't drink coffee too much, this was a delicious drink. 3. Cream cheese garlic bread: 8/10 I get the hype - I didn't expect chips on top of the bread as well but this was very addicting and delicious. The cream cheese wasn't too overwhelming and it complemented the garlic. Garlic lovers, you definitely need to try. However, I don't think the price justified the size of it- almost $7 which is basically a drink at that point. Wouldn't get it again but it was nice to try

Smoking tiger is a really a great chain. This is thier new recent location in a strip mall. Parking is ample in a tight lot. The decor inside is fresh and minimalistic. There are ample hang out areas. The pastry here ate all too notch with my favorite being the earl grey sconkie. The sandwiches are usually on point as well. Overall done be shy and come over to get some unique Korean cafe experiences.

I am so glad there is a new drink place in this plaza. I hope it stays! There is ample parking shared with other eateries. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. It was nice to see a good amount of people enjoying themselves. Inside is clean and bright. I am so excited to see the variety of pastries and so many store merch for purchase. Since I just came after lunch, I'll have to come back for some of the pastries. I had the Strawberry Matcha (half sugar) and it was good. I'm so glad this location is closer to home.

    Black sesame hojicha
    Mike C.

First time trying this place out and i got the black sesame hojicha and black yuzu tea. They were both pretty decent. Black sesame was a little bit overpowering though. The workers were nice and helpful. The only reason why i gave it a 3 star was because they put way too much ice in both drinks.

One of my favorite Korean coffee chains opens up another location. This one came not too long after Rowland heights location near Cal Poly Pomona is the best coffee shop in the area. This location has the same decor but is a bigger location than Rowland Heights location. They have their signature lattes and also do seasonal lattes. Out of the signature lates, my favorite is the banana latte. Making a good banana latte is not easy and I've had many bad versions of this latte. This one balances the richness of espresso with banana milk. Not too sweet, but you can adjust sweetness level. Great pasties mainly breads and a scone/cookie and cakes. I really only get coffee l, but I imagine the non coffee drinks are great too. This location is about the same distance from the Rowland Heights form me from the IE. I hope one day there will be Smoking Tiger in the IE so I don't have to drive so far, but this place is worth the commute.

    Sweet Corn Latte
    Kristina L.

If you're looking for a coffee spot that has creative drinks, you have come to the right place. They have unique flavors that you will not find at other coffee places. Please DO NOT SKIP on the pastries as they were mind blowing delicious! This location was pretty spacious and plenty of tables to do work or have a coffee date. Staff was nice as well. Sweet corn latte: (3/5) -had better corn coffee but this was still pretty good. I think the espresso was a little too overpowering against the corn flavor and prefer a better ratio with more sweet corn Seasonal: Hotteok latte (5/5) - this drink took me by surprise! - strong cinnamon smell but not too overpowering taste which I like - it is on the sweeter side which I don't mind and prefer - it was so smooth to drink and the flavors blend well together with the coffee and it also had a nice crunch with almond bits - definitely one of my favorite flavors from here Black sesame hojicha (4/5) -could be sweeter, but enjoyed this blend. It had a good ratio of sesame and hojicha where no one flavor was overpowering, but mixed well and love the nuttiness of the mix. Pastries I tried: -Cream cheese garlic bread -Garlic sausage -Honey butter walnut bun -Creme brûlée Gogumq -All the pastries I tried were on point !! You won't be disappointed! I loved them all!! They are a bit pricy but worth it as they were all so flavorful and delicious!! I recommend trying all of the ones I had! They may seem heavy which they are but not as heavy as I thought, the perfect amount.

    Breakfast Burritos available.

For the pastries, it looked like a lot of the ones I was hoping from browsing online were not available. I ended up getting the biscoff cheesecake. It was on the sweeter side but it was very good. For the drink, I ended up getting the banana latte. Been on a streak of getting that lately so wanted to compare with other stores. I didn't get a lot of banana in the taste. At least it had an espresso shot for the caffeine fix and did not taste like the artificial banana. Nothing special there and stand out. For the interior, they had a few seating they primarily accommodated a few groups of four and two. I was able to grab a bench seat that had an outlet. However, there wasn't enough space for my laptop and the items I ordered. WiFi was available but it had a 90 minute limit. The store had a moderate noise level and stayed busy throughout the time that I was there. The service on the order was quick and they do bring it out to you. The store also has their own house espresso which was a medium dark roast. American Express is accepted as a payment option here. Overall, it was a decent work spot. If I come back, I'd prefer to try another drink and hope other pastries are available. Would recommend the biscoff cheesecake for those that want something sweet and the house coffee beans for those that like medium roasts.

I'm a matcha person so I've only ever gotten their matcha, and if not just their strawberry hibiscus (no longer served), herbal tea, and strawberry milk. I love their selection of matcha: strawberry with chunks. One of the best I've had! Their blueberry matcha is pretty delicious also. The customer service is great. Everyone is kind and efficient. I'd say the baristas kind of keep to themselves though and aren't overly enthusiastic. But overall, still welcoming & nice! The atmosphere is simple with wood seating areas. I like it. However sitting for a long duration can be a little uncomfortable since there's not much back support, but luckily they have a basket with padded pillows to sit on. Recently they added tables along the corner nook area which is great! Aside from that they have little tray-like table tops to set your drinks on or laptops/books/etc; while working. There's also plenty of outlets which is a plus. Not to mention they always seem to have a good playlist goin' :) Oh! & they have outside seating as well underneath shaded umbrellas. My only complaint is it gets really hot in there during the hotter months. Especially since they're facing south and catch all the direct light early on in the day. Don't get me wrong, I love the natural lighting! It's just more prone to getting hotter & I'm not sure if they have A/C. I'm sure they probably do but it's never been exactly cold in there like most coffee shops, mainly room temperature. All in all Grid is a great spot! I highly recommend :)
