On the way to the airport I saw a line of smoke coming out of a building... when I realized it was coming from a place called Smokey's BBQ I knew I had to pull over to try. It was definitely worth it! The Boston butt pork and beef brisket were both phenomenal. The pork was tender and juicy and the beef also had really good flavor. My favorite side was the red rice but also enjoyed the Mac and cheese and coleslaw. Really great classic BBQ that came out fast and hot, and service was really friendly as well!

I am NOT giving this place 1 STAR!!! I wish I could give NEGATIVE STARS!!! My husband told me the food here was awesome, it might be but I ordered a medium side of Brunswick Stew, 1 lb of Bar b que & some sausage. We were charged almost $26.00. The Brunswick Stew is in a real small coffee cup. The lady said she didn't even charge us for it. Then they added an unapproved tip to our bill! I called & the lady told me that "we really owed them some more money" I WILL NEVER go back here & definitely WILL NEVER recommend!!! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD'VE BEEN TO MAKE THE ORDER RIGHT!!! Vengeance is mine saith The Lord! I hope you enjoy your tip!!

Food is AMAZING. Its an authentic BBQ spot. If you want fine dining you should go downtown. If you want d*** good food the COME HERE. The portions are big and kick your fingers good! Staff is super warm and friendly...and they remember you.

I have had opportunity to eat at Smokey's on a handful of occasions and one thing that I can say is that it is consistent. I have had sandwiches, chicken and ribs and all are very tasty and the baked beans are very good and one of the best I have had. The BBQ sauces that they offer are mild and hot or you can do a mix. It is a rustic environment with one loud TV mounted in a corner offering limited seating and if they are busy be prepared to wait for your food. The staff has always been courteous and willing to provide advice if you are overwhelmed by the options. There are a number of option in the Savannah area for BBQ and you would be missing out if you did not try this one.

My wife and I went to Smokey's BBQ in Garden City off of Highway 21 yesterday and this is the presentation we received or that my wife received rather. Mind you I've cleaned it up a lot so it looks a lot better than how we received it. My wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich, mac n cheese and brunswick stew and instead of the establishment putting her stew on a separate container they decided to put it in the same container her other food was in (which was an intentional act) making her sandwich soggy and ruined her mac n cheese. Besides that upon speaking very respectfully to both of the black ladies that worked there when she ordered her food in return my wife was treated with the utmost hate, malcontent, disdain and disrespect. I honestly don't play the racist card at all period but this is a deliberate and racist act. So if you're an interracial couple please think twice before visiting this restaurant, it's a pure disgrace. Makes me feel ashamed to be black in this Godless world.

We came here on the suggestion of one of the front desk people working at our nearby hotel and we loved, loved, Smokey's for everything about it: it's rusticity, it's welcoming vibe (they let me poke around the front room where the smoker is to take pictures), it's home-smoked barbecue and home-made sauces, desserts, paper plates and plastic forks, the sincerity and dedication to good food by the family members who run it (even the dad who works at the nearby paper mill, then stops in for dinner, and time with his wife, grandson, and son), and, of course, a terrific, messy, generous meal of perfectly smoked chicken, baked beans, french fries, mac and cheese, and a couple of slices of bread. The drink of the day is super-sized and sweeeet! Lots of folks leaving their jobs at the nearby docks come on for their take-out meals so, we knew we could count on good prices and great food. The dad told us that they hope to expand and update the fairly shabby building, the smoker, and the dining area come this spring. I hope it never loses its finger-licking, family-friendly, smoky greatness after that.

This is first rate Jamaican food done really well. I had oxtails a couple of patties, jerk chicken, and carrot cake and everything was on point! I especially loved the oxtail gravy which they poured plenty over my rice and peas and I thought the jerk seasoning was authentic. This is a small spot in a strip mall with a couple of tables so this is mostly a takeout operation. But the young lady that waited on me was very helpful, explaining a lot of of the menu, what was fresh and what the days deals were. Definitely plan on making this one of my go to spots.

We walked into Georgia Comfort…read moreKitchen off I-95 on one of those gray, damp Georgia afternoons, and from the first bowl of gumbo, the weather outside stopped mattering entirely. We ordered off the menu rather than the buffet -- though both were available and the buffet looked well-stocked and genuinely tempting. My husband had the Shrimp & Grits: Georgia shrimp over stone-ground grits with andouille sausage, peppers, onions, bacon, and a sherry cream sauce. Rumor had it that was the move, and the rumor was right. The grits alone were the kind you don't stop talking about -- velvety, deeply seasoned, the kind of base that makes everything sitting on top of it taste better than it already is. I went with the fried catfish, a side of mac and cheese, and a bowl of gumbo. Honest take: the catfish itself was good -- the fish was fresh and well-flavored -- but the batter had gone a little soggy, which kept it from landing where it could have. That's the kind of thing that varies by timing, not kitchen quality. The mac and cheese, though, was exactly what you want: cheesy without being gluey, hot all the way through, properly indulgent. And the gumbo -- chicken and sausage, rich and built with patience -- was the best thing on my side of the table. On a rainy afternoon in coastal Georgia, it was exactly right. Then there was the cornbread, served with peach cobbler butter. That detail alone tells you something about how this kitchen thinks. It's not an afterthought. It completed everything around it. I'm not from the South, and I won't pretend to have a lifetime of comparison points. But there's a kind of food that makes you feel like you were born into it anyway -- like your body already knew what it was tasting. That's what happened here. Good for road trippers, families, rainy days, and anyone who needs a real meal after a long stretch of highway. Four stars, with the grits alone pulling hard toward four and a half.

We had a chance to visit 912 Korean BBQ and hot pot last weekend. We were looking for something…read morecasual but filling for dinner and because we had not tried out this place yet but had driven by several times, we decided to check it out. Definitely a great decision on a hunch. This is an all you can eat hot pot concept and frankly my first time attending this version. While I have visited hibachi restaurants in the past, this is not that. Basically this is a dual table side prep concept where you can either make your own custom soups and broths, and hot pot seafood or you can select the grill and grill of a variety of fresh meats and fish and vegetables, or you can get both. Both come with a small dessert bar and seem to be accompanied with the additional Fresh salad and sauce bar, although I'm not quite sure if one of those may have been restricted if you did the grill only or the hot pot only. Pricing is pretty fair at about $30 a person which rises to mid 30s if you decide to get both options. We went with the combo because we had never tried this concept before, but in the future, I may lean more towards the grill option only. Especially if I'm not in the mood for hot pot or soup. But I definitely enjoyed the combination choice for our first visit. The meat and vegetable selections at this restaurant are pretty vast and this is after the server first sets you up and allows you to pick from several different types of broth for your hot pot. In addition, they have a sauce bar that must've had 20+ sauces available to choose from. I think one of the most overwhelming aspects of this concept is lack of familiarity with the right combinations of hot pot and grilled options. For this we leaned heavily on our server and she did a great job of guiding us through a couple of her favorite combinations, as well as some of the favorite combinations of other patrons. This was really helpful because there isn't a menu or chart to help you unlock all of the really cool combinations that you can put together including Ramen udon and Thai soup varieties. All of the ingredients you need to make any of those dishes, but in your own customize version, are here to your heart's desire. Service is really good as they do switch out the grills rather rapidly as they will get charred and start to burn and smoke after three or four rounds of fresh meats and veggies slapped on them. However, they do not switch out your broth choice so once you make your choice, that's what you're rolling with for the rest of the dinner. All in all we were really satisfied with the freshness and the preparation of most of the ingredients and sauces. I did think the dessert bar was a little weak given the multitude of options elsewhere, but I also understand that this is consistent with the cultural preferences, which don't skew as heavy on traditional sweets, like American taste do. All in all this is definitely a treat for those looking for a great date night or just looking to take the family out for a really engaging and tasty cook at your table experience - all you can eat style!

The ambiance was quiet and really enjoyable--perfect for a relaxed meal. The broth could use a bit more flavor overall, but the spicy one was definitely the standout.
