On the second visit I had a ribs and brisket combo. The ribs were great with a real nice smoke. Nice sauce too. Loved the vinegar based coleslaw too. But the brisket stole the show. I've had lots of barbecue from all over-- I would say this brisket is the best example of barbecue I've ever had in Tucson. Wow. Was just perfect today. Now I'm aching to try the turkey and chicken, but will have that brisket on my mind for awhile. Go here. read more

Meat is so juicy and tender. Loved my cornbread & potatoe salad. Staff was quick and friendly. Place was sparkling. Definitely a must try.

We finally made it to Smokey Mo's! I'm so glad we did. We only had the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich (this time). My brisket sandwich was AMAZING. The meat was delicious. My husband scarfed his pulled pork. The sauce was delicious. I can't wait to try everything on the menu! read more

Oh. My. God. This place is SO GOOD. I've had barbecue at the supposed best place in St. Louis and one of the supposed best places in Texas, and this is up there with Salt Lick in Driftwood and blows that St. Louis joint out of the water. The collard greens are the best I've ever had. Smokey, extremely tender, and perfectly spicy. The brisket taco is outrageous. The pulled pork is superb. The wings are some of the most tender wings I've ever tasted. Can't wait to go back. Do NOT miss this place if you want truly great barbecue in Tucson. Everywhere else has been just okay until now. Smokey Mo is unbelievable. Eat at Mo's. Holy moley. read more

Best Bbq in town, Fried fish Fridays are bomb. The food here is so worth it. I tried for a long time to get my wife to eat here, and she never wanted too. Until she won a raffle here and tried the food, since then she became a believer and we often come here to eat. It's always great customer service, friendly staff, and the food is delicious. Fish bomb, brisket bomber, and for me the okra is killer. We love eating outside on the patio, it has such a relaxing vibe. 100,000 percent recommend this place. read more

Love the authentic vibes the space and friendly staff give off. The core sauce is a little tomato heavy for my taste but it seems they are going for more of that Kansas City style so that's on me I guess. Also, I usually don't care for Mesquite smoke in my Barbecue, but with the tomato-forward sauce I will admit it does work well. The Collard Greens are off the charts! All in all; this is a great little spot. read more

Meat is dry and tasteless. Side dishes are small and over priced . Many bbq options in Tucson . I will not be returning .

Self professed BBQ snob. First place I've found in Tucson that is good. Got today's special of rib tips and fries. It was the bomb diddlely. Now get ya some. Yelp on! read more

Good brisket, amazing sauce, and they got some bomb Mac and cheese! My girl loves the corn bread too. Definitely recommend this place to newcomers and bbq fanatics read more

I highly recommend this place, the smoked turkey was pure flavortown! I also had the greens, onion rings, and potato salad all of it was delicious and tasted homemade and super fresh. If you mix their sweet tea with regular tea you got yourself a bomb drink. read more

Had the calabacita tacos and pulled pork sandwich. Both were outstanding. The pork was tender and had a great smoke flavor that was not overwhelming. The tacos were well cook but crunchy not soggy. Immediately started planning a return visit. This is a gem in Tucson BBQ read more

After watching the Netflix barbecue showdown, I decided I wanted some GOOD barbecue where I can taste the smokiness. Googled a few places and this one caught our eye. WOW, I'm so glad we decided to make the 20 min drive here. By far the best BBQ I've had in Tucson. Their cashier was super friendly and explained the entire menu to us. We got the 4 meats and 4 sides, fed me and my husband perfectly! Their tea is awesome too. Definitely coming back soon!!! read more

I am an admittedly snobby BBQ guy who has had samplings from all corners of the US, but this place is not even in the 3 star range. Dry meat sampler with uninspired sides of varying blandness ( minus the onion rings, they were tasty) complimenyed by the oddest sauce I have yet to uncover didn't really say KC BBQ as touted. Despite the genre confusion, the real issue was sooty grilled meat. I try to be gentle in reviews during these Covid days, but surely there is better bbq in Tuscon...don't believe the stars bbq fans. read more

Dry turkey unfortunately isn't a surprise but your tri-tip being dry is agregious. Mac & Cheese was soupy, fries cold and beans pretty basic. We've had BBQ from the East Coast to Texas - never been so disappointed in a place with such good reviews. Hopefully we just caught them on a really bad day. read more

Amazing!!! The setting, service and the food, all amazing.... BBQ is one of the foods I simply have trouble make at home...Sure, I can fire up the barbecue and cook a steak...but for true barbecue, with the smoke, slow cook and the right rub, takes many many hours, planning/ preparation/cooking... Smokey Mos Allows me to eat barbecue and not have to spend many many hours of my busy schedule cooking... Family owned and operated...!!! Not only Do I love their food, I love supporting family business rather than the big chain/commercial restaurants... Customer for life!!! read more

As a BBQ snob from Kansas City this is a must try. Ever since moving to Tucson I have struggled to find that hometown BBQ that makes us famous. Smokey Mo is the closest by far. My wife went with the pulled pork sandwich and I choose the brisket. Both were quality sandbos. Only thing I would suggest gimme more sauce and a little less ketchup on the side. Not really gripe because they happily provided more sauce upon request. Quote from the inside. "Tell a friend bring a friend" read more

We went on a weekday for a quick lunch; I had a pulled-pork sandwich, my lunch pal had some brisket. Service was good, and the location had plenty of empty seating. But, meh... the bbq wasn't that great. Could have been an off day in the kitchen, if I read the other reviews... but perhaps that speaks to a lack of consistency? BBQ places are opening all over town now, and it's competitive. With all the other choices available, I can't say that I'll be back. read more

Our first time here was for lunch on 2/21/2021. We got 1 two meat combo with 1 brisket sandwich combo. The brisket was good. It had flavor & was very tender. The potato salad was "so so." A homerun for the collard greens! The pulled pork was tender & tasty. The cornbread tasted like cake without the frosting.... They have RC products for beverages, along with iced tea and Kool aid. Daily specials are also available. We will come back again to check out the other menu items to provide a follow up review. read more

This new neighborhood BBQ joint is great. I ordered the Tri Tip and smoked brisket with two side Mac and cheese and baked beans. Real deal this place and friendly service makes it even more of a great local stop. Look forward to trying more off the menu. Thumbs up Mo! read more

Meat was cooked well with the exemption of the links which were burnt to a crisp. Also, the BBQ sauce was absolutely terrible, tasted like a spiced marinara sauce. If you like real BBQ this is not the place. read more

We have had bbq at Smokey Mo's perhaps a half-dozen times. We tried just about everything on their menu and everything is a winner. My favorites are the brisket and the pastrami: mouth-watering! The staff are friendly, too. read more

Yes, finally some good good barbecue in Tucson! Not sure where to start as everything is amazing! The brisket is to die for. I can eat the pulled pork for days. Collard greens are perfection & cornbread as well. The outside environment is great, love the wood & metal furniture. The service is beyond A+ & I'm just a fan of everything! read more

Amazing food! Everything was extremely good from the meat to the barbecue sauce to everything in between! Service was incredible great people working there absolutely must go if you're in tucson craving barbecue nothing better! read more

We just went here for the first time and ordered the 2 meat combo with wings and tri tip. Then we ordered a half rack of ribs. Food was sooooo good! Mo's smoke flavor is gonna rock Tucson. I wish I would have taken a picture, you can tell they took the time through the whole process. Even to when it arrives to your seat. They decorated the corners of the tray with pickles, fresh picked jalapeños, carrots and lime. Food was a solid 4, but the service was tip top so we had to give 5 stars. Definitely coming back!!! read more

Brandon This place is way overrated! Thier half ass way of doing things really show. Been to this place 3 times trying to give them a chance because the folks are nice. But.. All I ended up with is anger! Nothing like eating a giant hunk of FAT for dinner no managers on site rude service the only good part about it was leaving. Way too expensive for the poor service and even worse food seek another bbq spot read more

Such a great BBQ spot in Tucson! My family and I are from Kansas City and we give them our approval. They're super welcoming and treat you as if you're in their home! I ate their brisket last year when I wasn't plant based and it was amazing. I had their calabacitas tacos last time and they were SO good! I'd love to see a couple of plant-based options on their menu, but at least they have the calabacitas! read more

Came to Tucson for a spring break trip, and found this hole-in-the-wall joint. Minute we walked in, we were greeted with rich smoky smells and amazing customer service. Reasonable prices and great tasting food. Everything came out well and was so good you could cut it with a plastic fork. Loved the people working - you could tell they were happy you enjoyed the food and were extremely nice. Would highly recommend read more

Got a tri tip sandwich , and it sucked , the meat was so dry , then they added the smallest amount of whatever sauce . all in all didnt finish it , wouldnt go back. Oh. My. God. This place is amazing!!! Not only is the food great but the customer service is even better! I didn't get the guys name at the register but he was the most friendly and helpful cashier I have ever came across. When we walked in we were greeted with a big smile and hello. Then he took the time to explain the whole menu to us (it was our first time there). He made sure our experience was amazing. Now on to the food. It was so dang good! All the sides are homemade. My favorite was the cornbread. It is to die for!! They also have really good sweet tea and kool aid! The bathrooms are outside in the patio area. When I first heard that I was thinking "great, they are probably gross" (sorry but most outside bathrooms are) but the restroom was so well maintained. It smelled like cinnamon apple and had a little heater plugged in to keep it warm. It was cleaner than most restaurant bathrooms! I really wish I could give this place 10 stars because they deserve it! read more

so good and sweet tea is amazing&refreshing! I would suggest the Pulled pork sandwich for a quick lunch and to sit on the patio to enjoy it! Inside and outside were very nice the only thing I would recommend is to change the seating, it looks like they got the chairs from a an alley and allllso to give the corn bread they make more love it was a lil dry lol The woman who took my order was very nice and even checked to see how everything was while we ate. As we were leaving there was a man who also had asked me and my boyfriend how everything was and I'm sure he was happy to hear that the food was delicious read more
