We've found BBQ in Tucson to be a disappointing experience. Today was different. Good meat, very friendly service. Good Good Good. Mrs and I shared a full slab (1/2 to take home), collards, beans. The ribs were nicely cooked. Flavorful sauce. We had to request extra sauce but we like 'em slathered. Collards were a bit spicy - excellent. Beans excellent too. Go there. I think you'll be pleased read more

We arrived right at 11:00 when we opened the door somebody said to us very rudely we're not open yet. So we waited another five minutes and then finally went in the person at the register was really rude and was not very friendly or helpful until it was time to turn around the pin pad to add the tip then she was really personable. We've never been there before so we took a little bit to figure out what we wanted. To perfectly honest the food was really not that good. The mac & cheese was very bland the potato salad was a little bit better but not by much. My husband and I both had a hot links which neither one of us cared for and my son had at the pulled pork which was OK. I would never try this place again and definitely would not recommend. read more

I've been to Smokey Mo at least five or six times (so far), trying something different each time, and I can't think of one thing that could even remotely come close to a complaint. Every item I've had has been 100% delicious and the staff is always so gracious and kind. The service has always been prompt, and our orders have always been accurate. I try to stick to a vegetarian diet but when I get the hankerin' for meat, Smokey Mo is usually the first place I think of to satisfy the craving. Lastly, despite the extreme heat in Tucson these days, the outside patio has been quite comfortable as far as where to sit. The shade is more than adequate and the misters definitely help as well. read more

Smokey Mo - Barbeque Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

Hands down the best barbecue in Tucson. Even the non-bbq menu options like the tacos and the burgers are amazing. The staff is really friendly and seem like they love working and being there, especially in the evening shift. Honestly the only downside I have to say about this place is that it's too small, there's barely any walking space around the ordering counter if you're waiting for takeout or looking at their amazing menu. Regardless, this place is consistently amazing with the best food and good, friendly service. I wholeheartedly recommend going there over and over again, because it's just that good. read more

This is the best barbecue place I've been to in a long time, we got the sampler and it was well worth the money, you won't regret it. Everything we got was tender and smoked amazingly, their barbecue sauce was great and was perfectly coated on each of the meats, Tri-tip, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The service was helpful kind and friendly, I will definitely be eating here again!! You'll leave stuffed and with a smile on your face read more

Just tried Smokey Mo's!!! So good. Friendly staff, lots of food, and great attention to detail. The Tritip and brisket were juicy, the cornbread was sweet, the fries were crunchy, and the fried okra was the best I've had --especially outside of the south. Try it. You won't be disappointed. Definitely a new go to spot in Tucson read more

My husband Will works here and loves his job and all the people he gets to meet and talk to and feed! Today he was basically accosted by a man of the cloth from a local church. This man was upset that the parishioners could smell the distracting smoke from the meat being cooked during their Sunday service. My thought is, that maybe God wants you to check out some Smoky Mo's lunch after your Sunday service!! Otherwise, why would He subject you to these wonderful, distracting smells?? So give it up, and give it to God, and go check out some Smoky Mo brisket, tri-tip, pulled pork, chicken wings, turkey, collards, mac n cheese, 'tater salad, corn bread, and bbq beans!!! Why disappoint your creator? Get down to Smoky Mo today (right NOW!) and find out what all the hype (and smoke) is about!! read more

We happened to be in that neighborhood around lunch time so thought we'd give them a try. We ordered the day's special of 1/4th lb burnt ends and 1/4th lb rib tips. It came with one side so we ordered a second side a la cart and split the meal. It was plenty of food for two but I know hearty eaters would want the whole thing. The rib tips were bony ends but tender and tasty beef. The burnt ends (pork) had great flavor, pull-apart tenderness and good sauce. We tried collard greens (sharp vinegar and pork flavored) and corn bread. The corn bread was a little on the dry side but with a good corn flavor and thankfully not sweet. The Texas sweet tea is too sweet and and there is no unsweetened tea available to cut the level of sweetness. We will definitely go back and try more dishes! read more

Awesome Brisket. Awesome ribs! If you haven't tried it's a must. Brandon is a great guy & very helpful. This place should get 6 stars ! Love the food & service ! Thanks !! read more

Excited to visit - Huge disappointment RIPOFF. Filthy entrance - parking lot / front door needs a POWER wash. Large price for a meager amount of food. --NEVER serve room-temperature slaw ! --MUST be chilled especially with mayo !! unchilled = just gross. Soft, mushy sausage tasted foul like intestine - I had to spit it out. Unclean. Best part? Hand washing station outside of restrooms. read more

Perfection. The best smoked meat in Tucson. They're excited to let you know that as well. You won't be disappointed. Have a plate and enjoy!! read more

Smokey Mo's, honestly has the best service hands down. The workers, the owner really has passion for their business and their food. I am welcomed every time with smiling faces, and that makes me smile. I recommend everyone to try their delicious food! read more

I hosted a group of 7 diners last night @ my favorite BBQ joint in Tucson. We sat out on the large, comfortable patio and we agreed that the food & the service were both outstanding. I opted for tri-tip, rib tips, baked beans, potato salad & a soda for a reasonable $15. It was the owner's b'day & he & his wife came out to greet & thank us for our patronage. If U enjoy tasty BBQ, large portions & friendly service, you must check them out! read more

Good bbq is hard to find. They do smoked, flash fried wings just how I like them. Good pulled pork and potato salad too.

First timer; friendly staff explained all menu items. The Tri-tip was tender and just the right amount of sauce. Mac & cheese. Peach cobbler I cream. Ooh wee!! Will definitely be back. read more

The brisket was fantastic. I don't know of anywhere else in Tucson with BBQ this good.

Smokey Mo's must only choose the most tender hearted animals to have such tender brisket... it is a wonder that you need to experience! How they get their brisket so tender, flavorful and tasty leaves you astonished. The smell when you enter is dreamy. The staff is way helpful and hospitable. Onion rings are puffy and crispy perfection. The corn bread made me feel as satisfied as having dessert. The fries are also impressive with the perfect crispness & golden brown. Homemade Sweet Tea & Kool Aid to complete the meal has me raving about the whole experience. Tucson is beyond blessed to have Smokey Mo's *restrooms were clean! read more

This place is really neat. I like that they let you put the barbecue sauce on your meat. Good selection and quality of meat on the menu. Their sweet tea is the bomb! read more

Hands down the best barbecue brisket sandwich and chicken wings. This place used to be Shari's Drive-In on First Avenue south of Glenn. The new owners transformed it. It was renovated very nicely; the restrooms are super clean; so is the interior and exterior patio. The food is fresh, the service is good, very enjoyable. Oh, and they make their own potato salad. They don't serve doctored up Costco potato salad and try to pass it off on you as if it's homemade. This place rocks!!! read more

Being from Kansas, we had to try it! While we love Tucson, it is a Desert where quality BBQ is concerned. We pretty much fell in love immediately. From the moment we walked in, the gals running the register were fun, friendly, and excited about their product. We had fun just ordering! While waiting for our "Sampler" platter, we chatted with the owner, who was sincerely interested in feedback. I don't know what the place looked like before they moved in, but it was pristine! Everything looked new, fresh, clean, and you could tell that they put real love into the place. Immediately felt at home. But the real test is the food. And it did not disappoint! One sampler platter fed the both of us-and neither one of us are lightweights. And the food was fantastic! Pulled BBQ pork (went incredibly well with their Mac and cheese), tri-tip, Smoked turkey (yum!), ribs, and seriously the best briscuit we've ever had. And the BBQ sauce was on pointe. Sweet and spicy, without being too sweet or too spicy. The Goldilocks of a mix. Even the sides were yummy. While I'm not a big greens fan, they were good, and we finished them off. The owner said that, being new, they're still tweaking some of the recipes, but the pit-master doesn't need to worry. The meats are truly a treat, and we will be back-time and time again. read more

I was excited when I first drove by Smokey Mo, I have been trying to find a good BBQ spot in Tucson but was afraid of being disappointed. I'd have to say that I did go during a particularly slow time so I fee as though the food wasn't that fresh which drove some disappointment. The sides were ok but the kool aid was on point. I'd be willing to give them a second try once everything goes back to normal. read more

The people are friendly. The food is delicious. What else could you need? In from out of town and found this tasty little treat. I told all my local fan out there to try it out if they hadn't already and I told all my hometown friends, they don't know what they're missin'! Not to mention they have that liquid gold (sweet tea) on tap! Going back next time we're near for sure. read more

YUM!!! Brisket with fries and potato salad all gone! Yum!!!! Great music playing too!! Will be coming back!

It's the first time in. Menu items sounded good, I ordered the 2 meat combo got the brisket and pulled pork potato salad and cornbread. The wife ordered the brisket collard greens and potato salad. We received our meals the brisket tasted like it was boiled first then smoked meat didn't have a lot of flavor the BBQ sauce was most definitely a vinagar based sauce it overpowered any flavor the meat had..NOT IMPRESSED wont be going back for 15.00 a plate expected more...... read more

Absolutely delicious smoked meats & BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich is my favorite, but the pastrami is great too. The chicken selection changes daily. All the meats are fresh daily so remember to get their early before they sell out of your favorite. read more

Great food done right: simple, flavorful, served hot, and with friendly service. They even have Kool-Aid! I recommend the pulled pork. One wish: more sauces. Their sauce was good, but it's fun to have BBQ meats and try them with a few sauces depending on your preference. Great new place! read more

Can't believe Texas BBQ is in Tucson! One of the very best BBQ I've ever been to... Texas, Tucson, Kansas... doesn't get much better than this. The beans, Cole slaw and collard greens were amazing.
