Nothing to write home about. Right then and there I've said too much. Bland no smoke despite the name and no sauce choice. No,no,no try again. Well after getting response from someone at SM, I still give it one star. Not only did I not see different sauces I wasn't even offered a choice of sauces. I asked,excuse me, inquired about hot sauce and the response was... "in the future not right now". . I order a combo and the best thing on the plate was the pulled pork. Ribs tough and not smoky. Coleslaw, bland, fries well they're fries, and no cornbread or white bread. I eat at a lot of place across the country and I certainly know when my tongue is slapping. This is fantastic BBQ! I came just before close on a Saturday night and they ran low on some items, but that just means it must be delicious. I was lucky enough to get the last of the weekend special side (cornbread) and it was so worth it. It was grilled and perfect to go with my baked beans and pulled pork. A terrific casual spot with straight forward, no nonsense bbq. We walked in after 7pm on a weekday night and were greeted with a big, warm, friendly smile and hello. He patiently waited for us to make our selections and we headed to their outdoor patio, which is spacious and private and perfect for nice weather. My husband had brisket combo sandwich with mac/cheese and delicious, moist cornbread and I had pulled pork with pickled onion and jicama slaw and side of amazing collard greens which had a little kick and were delicious. Looking for a local joint for lunch and Smokey Mo hit the spot. Rolled in and was greeted quickly. Ordered and sat out side on the patio, which is amazing. Has good seats, great coverage, and bathrooms are neat and well laid out. We ordered the special (Burnt Ends with a side) and pulled pork sandwich. Quantity and QUALITY of food was amazing. I don't Yelp much, so when I do it must be good. Loved, loved, loved this BBQ. I've lived in Texas and the Carolinas so I have an appreciation for BBQ. This is KC BBQ and it was so good. The heaping brisket sandwich on the brichoe bun slathered with sauce was amazing. The brisket fell apart and the sauce had the right amount of spicy, sweetness and tang. This place has unparalleled service and staff. I remember it from the first time I went here, and it became even more evident upon my most recent visit. From the minute you walk in you are greeted by perhaps the most cheerful staff member at a register in all of Tucson. Upon hearing that I brought somebody new, he gave me a high five. His recommendations for food were super helpful and once we sat outside, he ensured that we had proper lighting and brought our food to us. We found interaction with him to be genuine, friendly, and helpful. Super kudos to the gentleman who I neglected to get a name of. We ended up doing two two-meat combos that encompassed a large portion of the menu. Together we got the turkey, ribs, wings, and pulled pork. Our sides included the collard greens, macaroni, beans, and fries. We had also got the corn bread muffins. Let's start with the meat: Differing from the ribs I had last time, these were phenomenal. They fell off the bone and were delightfully moist and flavored. As a hardcore wing-fan, I was surprised to see that the wings had also fallen off the bone, but understand that this vital characteristic to barbecue contributed to the dish. The turkey and pulled pork were equally great, even if I wasn't sure which one was in my mouth at the time. Let's talk about sides: The fries were awesome and the corn bread pretty good. Collard greens were what you would expect, but the beans were a little bit of a let down. Not sure what is missing from this, but my boyfriend reported that it was a little bland. Get the fries, for sure. Great food and incredible staff made a lasting impression on our visit. Really enjoyed our first visit to Smokey Mos. Tried a variety of things, all of which were pretty good. The chicken wings actually had meat on them!! Nice flavor but would have liked maybe a hotter wing sauce option. The pulled pork sandwich was also good, pull apart tender. Of course had to try the ribs. Was not disappointed. Lots of meat, fall off the bone tender. Tried the cornbread, mac cheese and the beans. Mac cheese tasted homemade and was piping hot. The beans were the only thing I would not recommend. Were overcooked and had an oddly sweet, applesauce flavor to them. The onion rings, OMG!!! Some of the best I've ever had! Great flavor, crispy and not once did the onion and breading separate. Everyone at our table loved them. So many other things on the menu, can't wait to try them all. read more

The best BBQ in town, hands down. I have tried every barbecue place in Tucson and this is by far my favorite, I will definitely visit many times. I had the tri tip and the brisket and both meats were cooked beautifully. They were juicy, had really good smoky flavor like barbecue should and it was enough to save a tad for the next day's lunch. The sauce was excellent and it was slathered with a perfect amount, no more or less necessary. The restaurant in itself is clean, very comfy and warm and good use of space. AMAZING! THE BEST BBQ IN TUCSON! Super friendly people. I'm from the South and my wife from West Texas. We know bbq and had expectations that were blown away. All the meats and sides were perfect. The sauce is smoky sweet. The corn bread is sweet and moist. I could go on, but let me put it this way: my wife and I ordered the 4meat, 4side, 2drink combo for $27. Before we finished that meal, we ordered another 1 to go. We didn't need 2 more drink so they kindly gave us 2 more sides instead. The only thing is the seating: not much inside due to social distance adherence (not their fault), plenty outside but right now (mid August) it is really hot. So go early or get it to go. Had to pull over and try this place had the platter with 4 meats 4 sides it was actually good! All the meats were tender and had good flavor. Most of the sides were good but the Mac n cheese is not your typical cheesy Mac it's more of a pepper flavored Mac not the best but it was okay! This is one of my most visited restaurants, service very friendly and fast. My favorite is pulled pork sandwich, each time there's a different, fun garnish...one time it was fresh citrus that went well with the pork. The sweetened ice tea is addicting and always fresh. I had the half a smoked chicken with a side of Mac n cheese (it's a single portion as the chicken is small). The smoke on the chicken was insanely good-- it's the best smoked chicken I've had in years, honestly. A couple weeks back, I had the smoked turkey sandwich. Also delicious with the deep smoke flavor. I'll definitely be back for the half chicken soon! As soon as we walked in we were pleasantly greeted. Gotta love amazing customer service. The sampler was the way to go for our 1st of many visits. The meats--ribs, brisket, pulled pork & tri tip--were all tender and tasty. Rib meat melted off the bone, that's how I like my ribs. Sides were good, it's hard to find good cole slaw & potato salad, but they got it! If you like spicy, I recommend the habanero sauce. Oh and that sweet tea! read more

Omg I'm so happy I had a taste for bbq today. I ordered tri tip with Mac & Cheese and greens, 3 bone slab of ribs with mac and cheese and cornbread. I also ordered some sweet potato pie and they topped it with whipped cream . Everything was tasty and had plenty of flavor... the piece of cornbread was huge but it was yummy. I'm stuffed now and it was very much satisfying. Maybe the only downside is the mac pasta was over cooked but the cheese sauce was flavorful. I'm happy I finally stopped in. It is pricey but well worth it! They give up a nice size helping of the sides. read more

This was the first time visiting this eatery. Unfortunately, part of the order I paid for was not edible and it was burnt. When the order was taken back to the server and she was told what was wrong with the order, the server said nothing and made no offer to do the order over. We left and will not return to this place. It seems like more could have been done to satisfy our eating, but it seems the employees were not interested in correcting the problem.
