This is my review on an Smokey bones. I've been going here for quite some time and they've changed the menu so many times I can't even count when I first came to food and the prices are reasonable. It was a great place to come and bring your family for a dinner, now the food quality has dropped dramatically the service horrible and unfortunately they took a great restaurant and turned it into a horrible one I would not recommend this place me and my wife recently went back to have dinner there and it took 45 minutes to get our meal and it also took 20 minutes to get drinks and we didn't order anything special. We just ordered Coca-Cola and that is my review of Smokey bones they get one star. read more

A nice place really, staff was nice, the food was really good too, a variety of sauces which you can put as much as you want on, the wait wasent too long either but that's on a week day good luck trying to get your food under 30 minutes on the weekend. After they finally figured out what tables were taken and which ones were open, We sat for almost half an hour and no one even came by to get our drink order. There was a couple who walked in at the same time as us that got their food and we hadn't even gotten to order drinks. No one said anything as we walked out either. They really didn't seem to care. Met my son for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. Everything was great. Service was super! Our server, Ariana, was very attentive and efficient. I have been here a few times. Staff is always very friendly. Continued tonight. Our wait time was a very respectable 20-25min which was fine given the fact the restaurant was busy for a Sunday night. I'm in a wheelchair and was there with a friend. After about 15min the door hostess was quick to acknowledge us and apologize for the wait but she was eyeing a specific table to seat us and accommodate the wheelchair. I was pleased and appreciated that. Once seated our server ANIYZA who I could tell was handling multiple tables with a smile I might add treated us with respect and was calm which I also appreciated. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger w/ fries and my friend ordered the grill cheese stuffed with brisket. Both meals arrived in less than 10min and we're cooked to exact specifications. Service was EXCELLENT, Destinee our server was the best, she was funny, helpful, attentive and just overall very nice Ambiance was good we were able to talk to each other without shouting which is always good. We went to Smokey Bones for dinner for my nephew's birthday.  We asked for a table for 9 people and they seated us in a corner and there were only 7 chairs.  We had to ask the waitress for 2 more chairs since the person who seated us did not realize that there were only 7 chairs.  The place was a bit crowded.   They continue to maintain social distance and there are some tables where no one is seated.   To drink, we ordered sodas for the children and for the adults 2 mojitos and 2 beers.  The first round was pretty good.  But when we asked  for the next round they were completaly awful.   It looked like we were having some non-carbonated Sprite.  He had no alcohol.  The bartender came to our table and offered to make new ones.  But the truth is, I don't know if the first time someone else prepared the drinks but it didn't taste good.  I asked to change to another drink and they did.   The food really very good.  I ordered a Rib eye medium .  The cooking of the meat was just right.  My steak included two sides.  I chose mashed potatoes and broccoli.  My husband ordered a burger that had cheese, bacon, and mac n cheese on the side.  The burger was very juicy and the bacon super crispy.  And the macarroni was very creamy. To share we ordered some ribs in barbecue sauce.  The meat was folling  of the bone.Fully caramelized with the sauce, awesome.  Except for a few drinks.  the attention and the food was very good. read more

I got the 3 meat combo with the BBQ chicken breast, sausage, and pulled pork. The pulled pork was extremely salty. I had to put BBQ sauce on it to cut down on the saltiness. Chicken was bland, sausage was good. My 2 sides were broccoli and mashed potatoes and gravy. The sides were fine. Ordered the brisket chili, which looked and tasted nothing like chili it looked like soup and had soup consistency. The chili was sent back. Overall service was OK. Certain things that we had asked for we never received, i.e., salad dressing and hot sauce. Ambiance was average. read more

The coleslaw almost made all of us throw up, The chicken wings tasted like cabbage, And it was just an awful time i personally wish the place was turned into something different because the outside and inside looked incredible. 2 weeks ago I ordered food to go and I normally order the ribs. Last time I went to the Montgomeryville location and the ribs were fall off the bone and tender. Tonight my second time ordering from the Spring Ridge location. The first time I got it to go and the food wasn't so good. I thought it was because it was cold by the time I got home. Tonight I dined in and the food was disgusting. My ribs were dry, they didn't fall off the bone I couldn't even pry it off the bone. The mashed potatoes were microwaved and not as creamy as the store bought microwaveable ones. The Mac and cheese was just dry noodles with shredded cheese sprinkled on top, not mixed, not cheesy, not acceptable. I tried to give it a second chance but this was a terrible experience. The quality of the food has fallen and in all honestly I did not eat my meal, and I will not be dining there any longer. I am taking this restaurant off of my list and no longer recommending it to anyone read more

This is an above average Smokey Bones. I've been to a few on the east coast but this one stands out. The staff is always friendly and the food is always great. I only had one experience here when I ordered brisket and it was mostly fat and it was quickly resolved. The beers on tap rotate every once in a while. They always have sports on their TVs and will change the channel if you want to watch a certain game. I'm a huge fan of the smoked wings with their sauce. They are always tender and smoked perfectly. This last visit we sat at the bar to watch a preseason football game and the bartender was super in all ways. She staggered our order nicely between apps and meal and kept our drinks topped off without being overly attentive. Keep up the good work people I can't wait to visit again. read more

The Food was delicious! Cant say enough good things about the food! Beans were yummy. Mashed potatoes were good. Gravy could use a little fix too much drippings from meat in it. The cornbread was delicious! The bar was the biggest problem. For a bartender to have 8 years of experience and not know how to mix their signature drink is beyond me. The guy put so much bourbon in my drink i thought i was getting straight bourbon. you couldn't taste the black raspberry or the peach. i felt buzzed before i got my food. The guy also needed help and there should have been a bartender on either side so they could work together since its a holiday and it was busy. We were here around 6 p.m. the night before Thanksgiving. Our daughter wanted to try it and said that she would do call ahead seating. Well...it turns out that Smokey Bones does not do call ahead seating, so we just showed up and took our chances. The place was busy and we wondered if we would have a long wait. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. She checked the dining room and said that we would be seated in a few minutes as they were now cleaning off a table. Smokey Bones was founded by Darden Restaurants. In 2007, they unloaded it as they thought it wasn't very profitable. BBQ Integrated, under the umbrella of Sun Capital Partners now owns it. Sun Capital focuses on leveraged buyouts. They also now own Johnny Rockets. Once we were seated, our server showed up promptly. She was friendly and efficient plus knowledgeable about the menu. We started out with our drink orders. The kids all had milk. I had a passion fruit lemonade, which just tasted like an ordinary lemonade. The rest of the adults all got beers. Smokey Bones does have a large beer selection. We all decided to forego having an appetizer as we figured that dinner would be more than enough. I did a "create your own combo" meal and chose smoked beef brisket (which is only available after 4 p.m. and is "hand rubbed + slow smoked for 14 hrs.") plus smoked wingers (which are also "slow smoked"). For my sides, I chose mashed potatoes and gravy plus coleslaw. The brisket was decent enough with just enough fat to provide some moistness. The smoked wings were just okay. They were meaty but the smoked flavoring was...well...forgettable. The sides were just fine. My husband had the smoked beef brisket meal and his sides were baked beans plus coleslaw. He, too, thought the brisket was decent but he wasn't wowed. When it comes to brisket, my husband is now spoiled having had some awesome brisket in Texas. He did like the baked beans and thought that they had good flavor. We both agreed that the coleslaw was okay. Our son-in-law had baby back ribs. The meat was falling off the bones and to me, looked better, than what some independent bbq joints serve. He really liked his dish. Our daughter had the smokehouse burger which consisted of "1/2 lb. burger + broiled onions + peppered bacon + onion tanglers + toasted bun". She really liked her burger and said that she would have it again if she ever came back here. The kids all ate off the kids menu and had a grilled boneless, skinless chicken breast with a side of mashed potatoes. Two of them liked their meals and ate everything, while the youngest said he didn't like the mashed potatoes. As an aside---while the bathrooms were clean, they were poorly designed. When our daughter and I were in there, the hostess happened to be in there at the same time. She told us that the contractor put the doors in wrong as they were supposed to open out rather than in. The result is very cramped conditions. So, after all these years, why not fix them? So...overall, we weren't wowed. It's not the kind of place where you dream of going back to for another meal. I do give props to the staff as they were all very friendly. When we were leaving, several of them wished us a Happy Thanksgiving. read more

First of all, going inside, the restaurant was chilly the whole time we were there. People were wearing their winter coats while eating. Prices are high for the amount of food you get. The one good thing, though, our waitress was very good and attentive. Brisket had to had to be sent back because it wasn't made right. Well... I never thought I would be writing a negative review on Smokey bones but here I am. I placed an order for delivery of a half a chicken with 4 additional flats. The sauce was a sweet BBQ. My order arrived in a reasonable amount of time allowing the food to be warm. And here is where it begins. I sat down, all my napkins close by and my drink. I opened the container and WOW!!! I suddenly felt angry because my half chicken was not there. Oh wait, as I looked closer I see this tiny little half chicken mixed into the flats and was not any bigger then any of the flats. I have never seen a half chicken that small. I won't say what the size compared to. I took a deep breath and tried to take the wing off. First warning sign was that I could not take the wing off with out taking the entire side of the miniature chicken's skin off. I looked for some meat on the wing which was futile. Then I went for the tiny piece of breast meat and it was so dry I couldn't eat my first bite. After that disappointing experience I hoped the wings would be better. Another disappointed. The skin was soggy and difficult to peal off. Then I tried to separate the bones which probably needed an industrial tool to complete. Once I got to the meat I dipped it in the "sweet BBQ" sauce and popped it in my mouth. Instantly I thought I ate some type industrial cleaning liquid. The only hope I had were the sides. Small containers of Cole slaw and pork and beans. They were not bad. These were the only bright spots. But it's kinda hard to fill up on little containers of slaw and beans. I am not sure what expeditor would ever let that container pass the window but someone did. My hope is that Smokey Bones sees this review and looks into their quality control tools and makes some badly needed improvements. read more

I came to Smokey Bones tonight with my husband for an impromptu anniversary date. We weren't in the mood for fancy food and typically get good meals from Smokey Bones. First i ordered pretzels (amazing) but the cheese tasted like cheap nacho cheese from a gas station. Waitress confirmed they changed the cheese. It's horrible . Second we ordered "chicken wings" and received the hardest burnt wings I've ever been served. It was disgusting . I couldn't even bite it i had to pinch the burnt meat off the bone . I was too hungry to reorder . Me and my husband were highly disappointed. The ONLY positive about the experience was the super nice waitress. You would think that for over twenty dollars you'd get more then 2 1/2 slices of brisket. This location is a place to get cold food . When take to heat up it up it still comes cold you can't beat that kind of service. I ordered the Filet Medallions which seemed more like brisket chunks . My mashed potatoes were nothing to write home about . My cold was was my Wings , trouble. They don't flip them in the sauce they pour on the sauce. My French fries were not bad . The server was new and needs trained to give customers their drinks while they are waiting for their food. Maybe train the server that informing the customer on the approximate wait would help the customer to be more patient when waiting 20 for their meals. However, because he was new we tried to be understanding. We think the rib feast was the strangest presentation of ribs we have ever seen. They came on a very large tray with a large pile of pickles and onions. All the sides we ordered were lukewarm at best and the baked potato was not fully cooked. We spent over 45 dollars on our meal and expected better food and service. read more

PrePandemic food was always delicious. However, now, food is eh, the ambiance seems less than inviting with all the Boneism signs (idiotic). and then the blaring music. I must admit not as bad as Texas Roadhouse but it's still unexceptionable. There are two possible reasons for blaring music 1. it's all the rage to target youths but it's usually ones over 30 who frequent your establishment with the youth's tagging along. 2. To get rid of your customer as soon as possible...faster table turnover. Shame on you to step so low to increase the volume of your music to blaring decibel so eating in your establishment is not enjoyable. Tell me, how does that make sense. I will never step into your establishment again, even though I love the baby-back ribs. Too bad too sad. read more

We've been coming to Smokey Bones for years, usually after the NHRA races at Maple Grove, as we don't live in the area. On another recent visit, I found out that I can no longer get the loaded fries as a side. On tonight's visit, I ordered the quarter chicken, which I have gotten before and this time it looked very small. It didn't taste as good as I remember either. Also, I had $20 on my Bones card, and I was informed that I could not use both $10 rewards at the same time. I know I have done this in the past. I don't know if I will make it out this way again before the other $10 expires. Needless to say, this visit was very disappointing, but I'm giving two stars for the mashed potatoes and gravy. Ordered takeout at the bar to bring home. Service was extremely slow. Only 2 bartenders on duty. 1/3 of the order came out 20 minutes before the rest of it. Burger was ordered medium came out rare. Why have curbside if you still have to go in and wait another 2.0 mins after your scheduled pick up time. I get with Covid and the worker shortage service will not be as fast. But there's no reason when you asked to talk to manager he is rude and gives you an attitude that is unforgivable no matter what the circumstances are I will never ever go back!! read more

I would not call us regulars here because it is almost an hour from our house... but we do go here often enough to be a Bones member, and we love it. Good BBQ is hard to come by in Pennsylvania. Seems as soon as a place opens, it closes... but Smokey Bones has stayed around. We have had ribs, brisket, chicken and all the fixings... it is all generally cooked just right and tasty. They have several BBQ sauces and you likely won't like all of them, they are all just a bit different and cater to different palettes. I like the green and blue bottles... and the street corn is excellent. Service is always with a smile and just fast enough, but not too fast -- this is BBQ after all, can't rush it. read more

This was our experience on 9/28/2018. Since then I have contacted corporate guest relations and the General manager of this store (skilmer@smokeybones.com) with a promise to reply in 72 hours (not fulfilled) and no response respectively. My wife and I as former residents and now visitors to the area have visited this restaurant together more than a handful of times over the past 11 years. My wife was a more frequent visitor having worked for many years just up the road at UECU. We have always had pleasant experiences with never a thing to complain about. Our last visit however fell well below our expectations and if I were an owner or General Manager, I would want this feedback. We arrived just after 8pm as the Penn State game was starting and the restaurant was filling up. We were greeted by the bartender (female - breaker) sat down and ordered drinks. Mine a top shelf Margarita, rocks, no salt. My wife ordered a Cosmo. A short time later, the drinks arrived well presented - cheers! On our first sip, we each noticed problems with our drinks. My wife is a light drinker, she is one maybe two and done as far as Cosmo's go. While tasting pleasant, she detected no alcohol in the drink. My top shelf Margarita tasted more like a white Sangria. I stirred it a bit and same. After a few minutes we got the lead bartender's attention and I asked him if he would add some sour mix. It appeared that he poured some on top of the drink and returned it to me. Taste was still off. When he returned , we ordered pretzel bones. My wife was waiting a bit to see if her drink was mixed so well that she wasn't tasting the alcohol. Our original bartender returned and I asked if she would remix my drink and add sour. She said she did put sour mix in and I told her the taste was off and asked her again to mix the drink and some more sour. It appeared that she added sour mix on top (did not remix it) and returned the drink to me. Taste was still off. Our pretzel bones arrived and they were literally dripping with grease. So much so that we needed to wrap them in napkins to remove the excess and yet they were still very greasy. I agitated my drink a bit, taste was still off and I too could not detect any alcohol. My wife at this point had finished more than half of her Cosmo and would normally be feeling it, but she felt nothing. And after quickly finishing the rest, still nothing. She ordered ice water and it smelled like untreated water. Neither time, having returned my drink did either bartender ask if my drink was now ok. It wasn't, we were more than a bit annoyed, settled the tab and left with my drink still nearly to the top of the glass and two pretzel bones not eaten. Should that not given the bartender some indication that something was off? This may very well be a "one-off". I do however put stock in the fact that no one from corporate or the local store has bothered to reach out with something more substantial than a cut and paste response. I give this restaurant a 5 star for their food and the server that helped us. So i'm pretty sure you would as why did I put a one star, I will tell you why. Yesterday around 5:30pm my family and me visited this restaurant specifically it was 16 of us which five where children. Everything was amazing until.... A white couple was seated behind us after around 5 mins a server came to help them. When that happen my 4 year old brother did a loud scream, and the white couple felt irritated by that so they asked to be moved to another table. Which does not bother me at all because I understand they couldn't order , what got me really mad was the fact that their server who has A TATTOO ON HER BACK (LEFT SIDE) WITH BLACK HAIR AND A LOW BUN DECIDED TO MAKE FACES TOWARDS OUR SIDE. When she moved the white couple to the other side she pointed at us while she was talking to her co-workers. So this situation could of ended there when the couple was moved to the other table. But no this server then continues to pass by our table making faces, grilling at us and complaining to her other co-workers about our table just because my brother was crying. And NEVER DID SHE COME UP TO OUR TABLE TO SAY "is it possible you can please quiet down your baby some of my customer are complaining if thats okay " NEVER. Mind you my 4-year old brother has Autism, which explains the reason he throw these tantrums. So I did not appreciate the way we were treated by this specific waiter or server who was not even our server, very unprofessional and rude. My family WILL NOT becoming here again, We spend more than $400 dollars here to be treated like this. If the presence of kids bother your employee then you should make this restaurant a No kids allowed. Or be careful who you guys hire. This really boiled my blood when I seen that happening. She told about 5 co-worker about our table and kept pointing and making face gestures. She very ignorant . On the other hand I do want to say thank you and felt very welcomed by the waiter who served us food she was very sweet and caring and understanding. Reason why we gave her a good tip. She has long dirty blonde hair which she had tied up in a pony tail. She was amazing. You should hire more employees like her. read more
