We were on a trip celebrating our anniversary and we were offered complimentary dessert to help us celebrate after dinner. Even though we were stuffed, we took our waiter up on his offer. I enjoy trying small batch local ice cream and our server took the time to go find out where the ice cream was made. He let us know that the ice cream was from Salt Lake City and I settled on getting the Huckleberry ice cream - it did not disappoint. The limoncello ricatta cheesecake was equally delicious. We had a reservation for 7pm and ended up being ready for dinner much earlier. I didn't see a way to change our reservation so I just made a new one for 5:15pm with no problem. It was just after 5 and I had no issues making a new reservation online. We did see several people come in and get turned away since they did not have a reservation. They were told the next reservation was not until 8pm. The restaurant was pretty much empty and there were quite a few tables still open when we were leaving. We enjoyed our meal and had no issues, but it does seem like you need to make a reservation and the best way is online and not through the hostess.

After seeing all of the amazing reviews on Yelp, I just had to stop by! I stopped by around 7 in the evening and sat outside, which ended up being such a good choice. The outdoor seating had a really fun, relaxed feel to it, and it was nice to just sit down, eat, and enjoy the Springdale atmosphere! We were at the Zion National Park all day. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak on sourdough with just the steak and cheese, and it was so yummy! The meat was juicy and tender. The sandwich itself was satisfying. The sourdough was a great addition too. I don't typically have sourdough bread with my philly cheesesteak. I also had the chips with guacamole and salsa, and those were so delicious! The guacamole and salsa tasted fresh and homemade! I ended up eating all of the guacamole with the chips! It was so yummy. The salsa was slightly spicy. I also tried a bite of the garlic cheeseburger, and the patty was juicy and flavorful. I only had a bite, but it was enough to know that would be a good choice too! Service was great, and everything about the meal felt easy and enjoyable. After a full day at Zion, this was such a fun dinner spot and definitely one of those places I'd recommend if you're staying in Springdale or visiting the park. When we checked into the hotel in the afternoon, we wanted in and saw a bunch of fresh pies in the display case in the front, but we decided to hold off until after dinner. When we returned, they were all gone! Luckily we talked with the waitress and she told us that they still had plenty in the back. They also fresh bake pies every morning to be ready by 7AM opening. Chocolate Cream Pie Slice ($4.99) - That's one hefty slice of pie! It's at least half a pound of pure sugar. The topping is stabilized whipped cream while the base is a really chocolatey super thick custardy, probably cornstarch-thickened, pudding, more like jello than pot de crème. The pie crust seems a little wan, not that heavily baked given the lighter color. It's a harder crisp with a good amount of flakiness and is probably shortening based. Yet the crust still stays crunchy even with the onslaught of pudding above. As a whole the slice is ridiculously heavy and rich, super filling after dinner. I can't vouch for anything else on their menu, but Thunderbird Restaurant certainly serves some good pies! It's reasonably priced and is served in a huge portion. But the star for me was the chimichurri ribeye steak - cooked just right, super tender, and the chimichurri sauce brought bright, herby freshness that cut through the richness perfectly. One of the best steaks I've had in a casual spot like this. Everything felt fresh and housemade, portions were generous, and the vibe is chill and welcoming.
