You can now smog your car AND get your DMV registration & tags!!! Hell yeah!!! They are now an official registration renewal center! I hate waiting in lines and thinking that is have to go to AAA to get my registration and new tags but Smog Zone hooked it up! Now you can spare the DMV or AAA trip for your tags. This is a huge step for Angelinos cause it's bad enough with all the traffic. At least it's one less line to wait in! read more

Got there at about 8:30 today, no wait. The test took about 15-20 minutes or so. I did check-in hoping to save $15 with the yelp offer but still ended up paying $55. The guy did write the yelp deal on the paper, but did he forget to apply it? I mean $15 isn't much it could've used towards something else, like say my registration... Overall quick service just wish the guy helping was a little more aware. read more

Found this place on Yelp as it was time to get a smog with one of our cars. Last September, I went there and these guys took care of us quick. At the time, my fiancé was still fighting stage four prostate cancer. They were very kind and caring to him too. He got a pic with the owner. Four months later in February 2019, I had to come back and get the same car smogged. Reason being is my fiancé transferred the car to me and I just missed the 90 day mark from the last smog. They remembered my fiancé and my car. Sadly, my fiancé passed this past Friday. The owner remembered him well and we had a brief conversation about cancer. Aside from the cancer chat, these guys serve you quick and efficiently. I will keep using them to smog my car and would recommend anyone to go there. read more

Friendly, Quick, Easy. I went in around 1:30pm on a Thursday so probably not the busiest time but that being said: The guys that run this smog shop were super nice. I walked up and asked how long the wait was and the guy working told me 6-7 minutes. 5 minutes later my car was being tested. 8-10 minutes later my car was done and I was on my way out. I only stayed longer to finish the conversation I was having with the guys. Owner says he's been doing this for 20 years and it shows. read more

I was a little nervous to get my smog done with all the uncertainty of COVID-19. When I went in today (4/9/20) Haik was really safe! He washed his hands right before dealing with me, he was wearing a mask and had his entire shop clean with a plastic wall between him and the checkout. Is that 90 days? No. The Groupon was good for 60 days which anyone can see under the fine print if they look up their Groupon deal right now. Lies upon lies upon lies. Also, notice how they completely failed to address the fact that I called them and left messages. Zero accountability. When I mentioned to you that I called and left messages trying to redeem the Groupon while it was still valid, (I only got a hold of this company after the Groupon expired. How convenient.) blamed me saying "Why didn't you call more?". Didn't care about fact that I tried to reach out to you repeatedly before my voucher expired (which is 60 days, not 90 days) and you simply did not respond. You made it impossible for me to redeem my Groupon while it was valid and then blamed me because you didn't answer the phone or return my call. This business is SHADY. ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU ANSWER THE PHONE AFTER THE GROUPON EXPIRED AND YOU'RE AVAILABLE FOR ME TO COME IN FOR MY SERVICE AS LONG AS I PAY ANOTHER $50. That would be a grand total of $80 plus tax and change for a smog. Who pays that? That's more than I would pay full price anywhere else. This is a just a shakedown. I can tell by how pushy and rude they were about it it's not the first time. Terrible customer service. Dishonest company. Do not give these people your money or trust them with your car. I purchased a smog Check and DMV Auto Registration deal for $30 through Groupon to save money, but it turned into a complete scam. I reached out to the merchant multiple times (calls and texts) to redeem the voucher well before it expired, but they never responded or returned any of my messages. Once the Groupon expired, they suddenly replied and said they'd accept the voucher--but only if I paid an additional $50. When I followed up with proof of my outgoing calls (no responses from them) and text attempts, their response was dismissive and rude. The lady on the phone literally told me I "should've called them more" and showed zero responsibility for ignoring me earlier. They took no accountability and just wanted more money out of me. We use Groupon specifically to save, not to get ripped off like this. Warning to everyone: Don't waste your money on deals from this place. They ignore your attempts to redeem, let the voucher expire, then demand extra cash. Terrible customer service and shady practices. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for smog checks and registration. I have screenshots of the unanswered outgoing calls and text messages as proof.

Getting your car smogged a pleasant experience? Actually yes! We just moved into the neighborhood and its always a hassle trying to wade through the incredible number of shady mechanics and car services until you find one you can trust. Usually along the way you find jerks, smooth talkers, idiots and sleaze balls. Lucky for me I found these guys through Yelp and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the great reviews were right on the mark. The gentleman working there was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and fast. Unlike some garages where you feel like getting a root canal might be more comfortable than being there, this place has a family run, neighborhood feel that makes you feel that you are in good hands. In fact, as I was talking to the guy, I found out that his dad actually runs a full garage right across the street. From now on, not only will I be getting any smog checks done here but I think I have found a garage for oil changes and any work I need done. Highly recommended! read more

Super fast, great service, no hassle, excellent operation. There is no doubt Smog Zone Van Nuys is the place to get a smog check done. I took my 2004 Honda civic there for a smog test on a Saturday, and was in and out in under half an hour. The owner, Haik, is extremely knowledgeable and has been in the business for over a decade. Very friendly, great service, and the price is great. You can plan your day knowing when you come to this operation, you won't be held up for hours waiting for your smog test to be done. Honest people in any business are hard to come by - but you can tell that the owners of this business are good people and are not trying to scam anyone. This is the place I go every time I need to get a smog test. The man who runs the business is so friendly and so nice, and so professional. And since the move (they used to be located across the street), it's actually even better, because there is much more room now, and it's easier to get in and out. There is now a small parking lot, so if you have to wait, it's no big deal. That being said, I've never had to wait. And if you call ahead, he'll let you know how busy he is, and when the best time to come in is. This is the sort of place that I prefer to give my business to, because it has that personal touch that I appreciate. One last thing: the chairs in the waiting area are really comfortable. read more

I have been going to Smog Zone for years now, and every time, it has been a great experience. This is my second review for these guys. I have been to other places in the past and these guys by far are the best. Haik and his staff have always been friendly, professional, efficient, and very informative. They have all the latest equipment and know what they are doing. I wouldn't want to go to anyone else. I know there is another smog business that is opening next door from them offering cheaper coupons, but I trust Smog Zone and would rather go where I know it will be done right. read more

I needed a smog so i was calling around trying to find a good deal. All these places i called were giving me the run around and charging way too much. Then the places that had reasonable prices were charging hidden fees. I found smog zone on this site and called. The owner quoted me a reasonable price and promised no hidden fees or charges. I went and got my smog done there and he charged the price as quoted. He is very friendly, fast, and efficient. He even give helpfull tips on how to maintain your car. I highly recommend smog zone. Haik has been taking care of our old mitsubishi for years. He is so good with cars that he knows exactly what's wrong before we even take the test so we can fix it and not waste our money doing a smog test we might fail. He is always honest, forthright and looking out for your best interest. I live in Marina Del Rey and would rather drive all the way to see Haik than waste my $$ anywhere with people who aren't as thorough or caring. By the way... with Haik's expertise and knowledge we never fail a test. And our old jalopy keeps running. read more

These guys are as legit as it gets. I had 2 cars ahead of me and was in and out in 30 minutes. Great guy and very professional. The shop is clean and air conditioned on the inside. Parking was crowded and the owner Haik accomodated a space for me. I suggest anyone that needs to be in and out and on with thier day come to this shop! They also are DMV designated registrars so you can actually take care of the whole registration process at the shop and recieve your tags on the spot! Will def take advantage of this next time around! read more

I went to a different shop and they told me my vehicle needed a few hundred dollars in repair. So i had a second to look at it , the previous shop told that the timing was off, so i brought my car here and they took a look at the vehicle and it turns out there was nothing wrong with the car. they didn't just save me money they saved me the hassle of looking for another smog place in the future i couldn't be anymore pleased with the results. If you want to save time and money come check them out they are nice and friendly. read more

I went to Smog Zone today @ 14125 Oxnard Street in the city of Van Nuys. My first time being there and I have to say I am happy to have found a new smog place. In the past I have had bad customer service, long wait time or just lazy people to do my smog. Haik @ Smog zone was very friendly and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. Great Service,high energy and Knowledgeable guys over @ smog zone. I will be going back to only this spot. I also will be telling all my friends and family about this place. Ask for Haik . read more

Haik could not have been more professional. I called twice before going in and both times he answered with a friendly, warm greeting. Haik was prepared when I showed up and took my car immediately. Because my car is older, he requested that I give him a heads up before arriving so that he could set up the special equipment for its' testing. I was in and out in no time and even though my car passed, he took the time to explain the test results to me. What a guy. Oh, and the place was clean and comfortable. read more

Had to go to the DMV to get my car registered for CA (I just moved here) and found out that I needed a smog test. I located this place on yelp and decided to stop by since it wans't far from the DMV. All of the reviews were true. It took the young man 15 min (or less) to do the test and get me on my way. Cost was $50 and the most difficult part was actually finding the entrance (it is in the middle of a strip of shops). When I have to get the smog renewal, I will be going back here for sure. read more

It was finally time to smog my Lamborghini Murcielago, and with my busy schedule I needed it done promptly. When looking for a smog station, I wanted to avoid being overcharged just because my car is a Lamborghini and not a Honda. After all, a smog is a smog. The work is the same. I stumbled upon Smog Zone, and Haik quoted me a lot cheaper than other places, even for my Lamborghini. He did a quick job, took care in his work, and was very informative. Overall, very pleased. I have a tercel which needed to pass a smog first I took it to my Machanic he said everything was good in it so I went to different smog places telling me that some things need to be fix trying to get extra money off me when I knew everything was fine in my car so I went here 2 days ago this guys are trustworthy good customer service and fast I strongly recommend this place other places were lying to me, i didn't have any problems here and my car passed the smog thanks guys read more

Unfortunately I knew nothing of Smog Zone when I drove in. If I had, I would have been going to them for a long time. Haik impressed me immediately. He is pleasant and professional. He made every effort to get me through quickly even though he had three cars ahead of me. One hour later, my car was ready. The building is clean and bright, and unlike other smog stations I didn't feel weird being there. Smog Zone is now my only smog check station! read more

I always dread receiving the DMV renewal that says "Please take this notice to a SMOG check station"! So, naturally, I put off going to get my car tested until just a few days before my renewal is due... luckily these guys are super nice and super efficient. I was in and out of their shop in about 30 minutes, with no appointment, and with two people ahead of me when I first arrived! Would absolutely come back here the next time I need a smog test. read more

Had never been to Smog Zone before, but my first experience there was a great one! I was due for a Smog Check and Haik helped me immediately, took care of everything, processed my DMV registration renewal and gave me my sticker, and did all of it very safely (with a mask on and a plexiglass wall up at the payment desk). It was a smooth and easy process, and then I was on my way back home. Would definitely recommend, and will return again! read more

To customer who is looking for a SMOG test check that has Shop-DMV online submission, SmogZone is the place: I was here this morning, 10/19/19. Haik is straight forward, i showed my DMV notice and took my car right away. Website says open at 9am, i arrived 8:50am done at 8:59am and pass! To Haik: Keep this kind of service man, not like others with blah blah blah and say need to fix something only to make money. Thumbs up to you Haik! read more

This place was recommeded by a friend. A bit difficult to spot, just west of Hazeltine on Oxnard, but fairly priced and nice people you could understand. Even though I had no wait, they've got a waiting area that you can view your car as it is getting tested!! Important to keep an eye out and for asking questions. Fairly priced after checking around with other locations. I had no coupon, so $60.00 I'll go back for next year's check! read more

I've taken my cars to Ike on several occasions, and have always found them to be very honest and upfront. Several years ago I moved away from the Van Nuys area, but still make the 40 minute trek to them, as they are totally worth it. What sells me on them is I simply trust them. I recommend all of my friends and acquaintances to go to Ike and Smog Zone, as they are the best. They are also Star qualified, a huge plus. read more
