Called ahead and went in for a smog check soon after. Very quick and friendly service! I know it's a difficult time, but I just wish they were wearing a mask and using gloves, especially when being inside the car. They did have plexiglass separating them from the customer when paying. ----------- Update: I was away from my phone, but the technician called me and left a message. He was very friendly again and explained that he uses sanitizing wipes inside the car and washes his hands before each customer. I appreciate him being proactive and doing the best he can! read more

I needed a Smog check from a STAR station and chose based on the reviews here. I called ahead and the gentleman who answered was very helpful. I came in around lunch time on a Monday and was assisted immediately, he even recognized my voice from my call earlier. I tried this place today for the first time, because it has a excellent review on yelp, and it didn't disappoint me. Jack is super helpful and the whole process didn't take long at all, even there are few cars line up before me. Haik, the inspector is very professional and nice too. They took off the $15 discount for the total amount, and it took $45 for the smog check. I also have my registration sticker replaced on site immediately because they are DMV certificated. An extra $35 is charged for this request. Great service and good price. Will come back again. read more

Back again for another SMOG, can not say enough how great this place is, super fast and convenient. The shop operator moves things along, gets you in and out. I actually failed the first time because I had recently replaced my battery and the O2 sensor hadn't reset so he told me to just drive it more and bring back. Poorly operated business. Haik the owner is dishonest and can't be trusted for nothing. Don't let the 5 star reviews fool you. Let me tell you the story. So I came in to smog a 2002 PT Cruiser. Came in last week and they told us due to a check engine light on the car wouldn't pass (they told us before the test so we wouldn't fail and have to pay and retest) which is what any honest and professional business would do. So fast forward to today and I went back in with the check engine light off. First off the main guy Haik left and put this other guy in charge to do the test while he was gone for a half hour. The guy looks under the hood for about 10 minutes with nothing hooked up to a computer (looked strange but I figured he was looking for a problem that would interfere with the smog test like the check engine light problem from before) and he then goes to test like there was no issue. Wait like 10 more minutes and then he comes back with a smirk on his face and says you failed! He proceeded to show and tell us that we failed because of a tube that need replacement that he should have easily seen because when we failed he went straight to it. He knew before the test that it was like that obviously because he had spent 10 minutes under the hood preinspecting the car with a flash light! Then when we failed he went straight to it (The damaged tube was in plain sight and they could have easily told us before because they knew about it) Lol come on! He knew and didn't tell us on purpose so they could charge us a retest. I bought this up to the owners (Haik) attention and he said it's not how it works and he can't make money otherwise!? All the while Haik was backing up his guy even though he was gone the whole time. Not a professionally ran business. Update after response from Haik. Which is all deflection and lies by the way. Completely unprofessional. Stands by his poor performance and behavior. Shocking! First off your service was garbage and I never got anything for free and I paid for the so called "smog test" you did! Also I never asked you or anyone to pass the car on a smog test at anytime with knowledge that there was a wire that needed replacement that's a complete lie and a deflection. Nice try but no. Secondly your guy had nothing hooked up to the car while he was under the hood. Another lie. You weren't even there to know what happened Haik! You were gone the whole time! Third and not least. The guy instantly knew why we failed the test instantly and pointed to the wire with a smirk on his face knowing that he could have said it before he hooked it up to the computer but he didn't. How dishonest!? It was in plain sight! He didn't know that it was an issue after looking under the hood for 10 minutes with a flashlight but after the test fails magically knows that the wire was the reason? Really? He knew the whole time and just wanted me to fail and have to repay for the retest. Haik was even complaining on how he makes no money unless he retests!? It's your business why are you putting your money problems on me!? By the way you deserve this review 100 percent. You were completely unprofessional. read more

This one star has nothing to do with their service, which I'm sure is generally excellent, and everything to do with the blatant disregard for covid safety protocols. When I went to get re-checked for smog certification, I was in my car thinking I was waiting for them to finish whatever work they were currently doing. The guy who previously did my test walked right up, mask off, on the phone, and started checking my monitors right next to me. I hopped over to the passenger side and got out. When he was off the phone and done checking, I told him to please not get in my car and next to me again without a mask. Rather than apologizing, he defended himself by saying he was on the phone. Don't know if you need to take off your mask to use the phone. But even he did, nobody was forcing him to get right next to me in my car and check things while he was on a call. Do them separately. Everyone has different opinions when it comes to the guidelines, but if you're running a business I think it's inexcusable not to follow them. And it's pretty simple. Really pissed me off. read more

Yesterday I brought my car into Smog Zone and Haik had smog my car and it failed the test. I have always given him a good review but this time I will say I was scammed by him. He gave me some guy to contact with a phone number that went to another phone number never received a call back. Called my mechanic took my car into his facility to show him the paperwork. He told me to go to another place this is less than hours later and my car passed without any issues. I was charged on my credit card almost $116. for my car not to pass on your form it said $111. then paid another $130. today for my car and it passed. This is less than 24 hours. I will never used this facility again. He lost me as a customer and he is rude also when I was sitting in my car several months ago while waiting for a mechanic in your center. You lost me as a customer because there is no explanation within less than 24 hours that my car passed the test when you failed it. Maybe you should have your testing machine checked to make sure it is in perfect working condition. read more
