Used Groupon. I called before I came in. He said I didn't need an appointment I show up he was extremely rude. Asking me for the paperwork and got irritated that I didn't know what paperwork he was talking about. His responses well, how am I supposed to know what kind of car this is? The way he spoke to me was so degrading. And for some mysterious reason, the car did not pass. This is my son's car that he uses for college. When he told me it didn't pass I immediately got my husband on the phone who is a mechanic and thoroughly checked out the car before my son brought it down to school (we live out of town and I am just here visiting and took the car in for my son). The guy said oh he must've had a dead battery so it needs to be driven and brought back. My husband agreed with that statement thinking that my son had a dead battery and didn't tell us. When I spoke to my son, he said no he has not had a dead battery and he hasn't had any problems with the car. When I got my husband on the line, the guy was pleasant and explained to my husband. However, when dealing with me, he was a complete JERK! Seems as he has a problem with women. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

These guys are not understanding, provided paperwork to the guy for catalectic converter that was swapped out by a muffler shop. He would not accept it. Causing me a lot of headache. And pushing me to call the referee. Truck was inspected in 2019 by the state of California when registration was changed in 2019. Technicians here are horrible and there is no number or website to reach management. They do not know what they are doing. I get a catalytic converter that is an original manufactured part from dealer, and these idiots don't pass it. I show them a receipt and give the dealer and installers number, and they still won't pass my totally stock vehicle. No aftermarket parts or anything. I bring it to another shop for a much cheaper price, and they pass it with no problem. Avoid this spot with poorly trained and no "people skills" staff. read more

Very bad attitude. Asked if he was busy (he had only one car in his garage) he was like "about 20 to 30 minutes wait. I guess he wants to make it look like he's busy. Right next door is Econo Lube so I went and got an oil change. Took about 20 minutes. Went back to the older skinny Persian guy and asked how much for smog check? This is the second time I returned to this place. I had my first inspection done by Jose which was very helpful and friendly. Today, I had an inspection with ABDELJALAL LAZIM in Irvine branch. This is the rudest experience I ever had in my life which involved inappropriate language, violate gesture, unprofessional attitude, yelling, shouting, and worst customer service you can ever get. First of all, when I parked at the station this guy "COMMANDED" me to roll down the windows, get out from the car and directed me to wait inside with aggressive attitude. It was the first negative impression he gave to me when I arrived there. I was waiting at the lobby I could heard all the action he took which included how he slammed my doors and hood hardly. I was concerning he might create some damage to my car. Eventually, he returned to his desk and asked me to swipe my credit card without inform me the result. Finally, he informed me that I didn't pass my smog check until I finished my payment. I asked him why he didn't inform me that I didn't pass my smog check before I processed the payment. He started arguing that it doesn't matter if I passed my exam or not I still had to pay, then I told to him that his attitude made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. He shouted and yelled me to "Get the FxxK Out Now" in front of other customers for three times. Surprisedly, I never had any customer service staff who cursing and arguing aloud with inappropriate language before. Honestly, this is totally a different experience I had compared to last time. Pulled up, pulled in... AJ was fast. They did charge an extra $10 because I have a truck. If you use the check in coupon, they basically force you to write a review on the spot before the smog check is even finished and ask to see the posted review before they will give you the paperwork. It's just a smog check. Nothing fancy and he was quick but there were no cars before me, so I was a little lucky. You can get a similar deal at most smog check places. The technician that helped me was thorough and suggested I use my old gas cap to pass. The timing and the service itself was satisfactory. Other than that, I felt uncomfortable with the many personal questions asked of me. Walked right in and there was no wait right before 11:30 AM. They were able to get started right away. He said it will take him 15 minutes to do my car. This is the worst establishment I have ever been to. I went one morning after being away for a week and a half. I had no idea that my car's computer had gone idle and needed to be driven to get looked at. (I found that out at another location) Anyways, I walked in, the guy rudely told me to take a seat. When I handed him my keys, he came back a minute later to tell me my car had failed. I recently took it to get fixed so I knew there was nothing wrong with it. I asked what was wrong. The guy told me to go to a mechanic and leave him alone. He called me a f*cking bitch, and when I handed him my credit card to pay, he threw it back at me and told me if I didn't leave he would call the police. ABDELIALAL LAZIM now at the Orange location, is the worst and apparently he's a manager? 1st, after calling to say what time I'd arrive, he shooed me away, because he was eating lunch. Then he refused to perform the free re-test. (The first test failed at the same location a few days earlier, faulty gas cap.) He said it's because the VIN # under the windshield isn't visible. It's been that way since I bought the car from a dealership, in CA, in 2005. The DMV verified the VIN, it's on the door, and I've registered the car every year since, online, smog test every other year. Abdelialal thinks he knows more than the DMV and Dept. of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Automotive Repair. This is from their manual. No where does it say that the only acceptable VIN is the one under the windshield : "When using the vehicle registration documents to scan vehicle information, you must first verify the VIN shown on the registration document matches the VIN on the vehicle. If the VIN does not match, the inspector shall use the VIN affixed to the vehicle and inform the customer of the mismatch and that it may cause the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) not to accept the test results." EVERYTHING MATCHES AND ALL STICKERS ARE IN PLACE. Looks like all the bad reviews are because of him. Why would you keep him employed? P.S. BEN on the other hand, is awesome! I normally get my smog done at a place that changes me $29.95, and then $9.95 for the paperwork which includes the DMV transmission fee. There was a line of maybe 5 cars ahead of me, so I decided to try a smog station close by where I lived. When I showed up at 11:30am, there was a lady who was in front of me, and she seemed to be half way done, so I decided to try this place out. They also had a coupon for $25.95, and I figured an additional $10 or so for the paperwork, and this place seems to be really cheap. After the lady left, the fellow working there introduces himself as AJ. They also have this sign that says yelp users get $5 off. I showed him the $25.95 coupon and he told me that I needed to put in my yelp review to get that price. Sure thing I thought, and as he's filling out the paperwork, he tells me that I need to add $10 because it's an SUV. Well, I normally would subtract a point just because the place I normally go to doesn't add additional prices, but since this place is so close to my house, I agreed. AJ continues to do the work, and he's just about finished when he asks me if I had changed the battery in my car. Yes, I told him, why? He tells me that I need to drive on the freeway for 40 miles at 60 miles per hour, and then bring the car back to him, and I should get my paperwork. He tells me that it's a computer problem on his end. He also tells me that I need to fill out my yelp review. I quickly write a couple sentences and submitted my review. I then paid $40.95. Okay, I figure from here to Corona is about 20 miles, and I ended up going to Riverside, turning off at McKinley, and drove back to the smog station from there. I got back, nobody was at the smog station, so I pulled in. AJ comes up, looks at my mileage, and pretty much fills out another form and they want to charge me another $29.95 for a retest. I was like, what? I pretty much went off on him and told him that I can easily go to another place where they'll take care of me for the same price as the retest, I also barked at him because he said that it was a computer problem on his end. I told him that my 2000 friends that I have on Facebook/instagram/Yelp would love hearing about their shop. He then calls the owner, and he ends up changing it to just the price of the $8.25 paperwork fee + the $5 DMV transmission fee, and tells me that he's the guy in the middle and it's not his fault. By me writing my yelp review, I was supposed to get $5 off, and based on what I paid, I overpaid by $10. I paid $40.95, ($25.95 + the $10 SUV charge would equal $35.95 - my $5 yelp review would equal $30.95) $10 over the amount I supposedly owed, which I figured out when I got home and added things up. So for my total, I paid $40.95 + $13.25. Basically just $8 off their list price. Look, if you're going to offer a coupon, then please honor it. By doing all this add $10 here and adding $10 without me catching it at the time, and then a full retest if I would not have complained, is just plain horrible. I know this isn't a lot of money, so I don't know why you try to weasel me out of $10 here, and $10 there. If you would have honored your coupon without any additions, I would have easily recommended your store to all my friends, instead, you play around with $20, and try to add $29.95 to my bill. Overall, not even for a lot of money- not cool at all. I know AJ seems like a nice guy, and he kept saying that it was what you wanted, well, we'll see how many Facebook/Instagram/yelp users pay attention to this. read more
