It's been about 6 months since the completion of our pool, and all is going well! The build was fast. They said 12 weeks, and it was 12 weeks. Art always replied quickly and efficiently! Any concerns I had were addressed, and for a major construction job, it was pretty smooth. I ripped out my entire backyard, driveway, and front walkway. Added a pool and jacuzzi , seating area, and outside kitchen. What I appreciated the most was the willingness to work with my vision and tiny backyard. I can't recommend Art Moraton and Smitty's Pools enough. Our original pool builder took our money and walked away after the excavation, plumbing, rebar and shotcrete. We were left with a giant concrete hole in our backyard. Several pool builders we contacted did not want to take over someone else's job, but Art was willing to finish our project. Art gave me references and I was able to contact two kind homeowners who permitted me to check out Art's work. It was impressive. Art had his outstanding plumber/electrician Rene check the plumbing, and he found it to be properly installed. Art gave us a fair proposal and then quickly got to work. Within a week we had all the pool equipment installed. Rene also pulled wire and finished all the electrical and gas to my outdoor kitchen, which the original builder failed to do. Once all our tile work was completed, Art had his pebble guys come and pebble the pool. The next day we started filling the pool with water. Once the pool was filled, Art sent his start-up guy, Beto, to start up all the equipment. Beto came out in the rain and got drenched for two hours, but he got everything working. We now have a beautiful outdoor oasis thanks to Art and his crew of professionals. Not only is Art personable and friendly, he is one of the most honest men I've ever encountered. Compared to the conmen and thieves who walked away from our project, Art and his skilled workers were responsive, communicated well, explained everything they were doing, and told us the truth. If you're considering building a pool, do yourself a favor and call Smitty's Pools first. There are good pool companies out there, and there are unscrupulous ones too. We started out with liars who cheated us, but the silver lining was finding Art who truly saved the day. I don't know where to start. Terrible contractor. Hired Art Moraton he was referred to us to build a pool/spa and he promised it would be done in 5 weeks. It's been 3 month and a lot of poor workmanship. Pool coping color is not what I picked. The reason is that he mixed the color at my house instead of having the concrete plant mix it, which is cheaper for him. They didn't put in enough color. Then they stained my driveway in the process and hasn't fixed it. My Baja step is not what we wanted, the slope in my pool is awful and not what we wanted and he told us to fix it, plus he didn't have the deputy out when shooting the shotcrete and now he's in violation. When I asked him about it, he said they were there and he has the certificate. I told him it's fake. I was the only one here, and I contacted the city and they agreed a deputy was not present. Now, my pool has to be cored for samples. Pool jets in spa are uneven and sitting area is crooked, plus one side in spa is wider than the other side, no steps put in, my planter wall is crooked. I could go on and on. He was never at our house when his subs were working, and no one followed a plan. He won't fix his mistakes. But, what he did do was add extra charges to make up for his poor quality work, and we refused to pay for those. Plus, he wants payment in advance and after contracting the contractor's board, they told me not to pay him in advance until the work is done. From there, we looked up his license number and he is using someone elses. He's not listed anywhere on that license number he is using. The company is Western Services and he has you make your check out to him, not even the company he is using So Cal Dependable Services. He even wanted more money from me and demanded it. When I told him to look at the numbers you are wrong, I paid you, he cancelled finishing our job. He is very unorganized and that's probably the reason he is off on his numbers. I had to even tell him he shorted our payments made by $5000.00. Seriously, be aware of using this company. read more
