    Bacon Cheeseburger was tasty!

Great burgers and fries, with table service - in a clean comfortable dining room. Soft drinks & tea only; no ETOH. The Chocolate Pie is outstanding; easily worth a visit jyst for that!

The restaurant is very interesting and cozy. It feels like a roadside dinner. The service was fantastic. Our server not only assisted us in making our choices, she held meaningful conversation to make us feel like we were locals and we're always welcome. There were four of us in our group. The food was amazing! The flavors were well placed and seasoned perfectly. I had the pork tenderloin with brown gravy and Mac and cheese. My wife had the half loin sandwich. One of my friends had the open faced half roast beef sandwich, and my other friend had the Annie's chargrilled chicken. All are recommended. To top it off we had a slice of chocolate cream pie and peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream! Holy cow! This is a must try restaurant

Drove up from Springfield to try this place and it was worth it by any measure. Full of good old boys where everybody seemed to know everyone, a huge menu and even bigger portions. I tried the blackened chicken Alfredo which was wonderful looking but surprisingly bland. So I switched it out for the open faced roast beef sandwich and they took it off the bill without my asking them too. The roast beef was tender, full of flavor and drowning in gravy. Huzzah! We took a piece of pie home after arguing over which ones to try because they had a ton of options here. The peanut butter cup pie was light, fluffy, rich and tasty tasty tasty. We're going back next week to try either the catfish or the bbq nachos. Further updates to come.

The best hot open face roast beef sandwich ever with mashed potatoes and coleslaw covered with brown gravy. My go to meal.

Home cooked flavor and service. Probably not a salad place but their mashed potatoes and gravy are perfection.

Pro tip: please check their facebook page for updated hours, contact information, and menu of the day. I stopped by to place a carry out order. The team was so welcoming and friendly. That perfect sincere hospitality you don't see too much anymore. The space is absolutely adorable and comfortable. When my order was ready, I was handed a bag that easily weighed five pounds! I went with the blackberry fried chicken. This is like nothing I've ever had. The chicken was super crispy like Korean fried chicken and just covered in a sweet sticky blackberry sauce. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. Every single bite was perfect. I went with the macaroni and cheese and greens for my sides. Both came served in generous portions of deliciousness. The greens might be a little spicy if you don't like heat. My order came with two cornbread muffins. The meal was a very generous and a filling one. I also picked a slice of peach cobbler cheesecake from the dessert case. While tasty, I would have preferred one or the other. Both cheesecake and cobbler in one dessert was just a little too much for me. But delicious nonetheless. I can see why this spot comes with such great accolades for food service and hospitality.

Not only was the food amazing, but the service was also impeccable. The waitress was so nice, and she gave us history on the restaurant and her family. There were pictures of her family on the walls, and they even had a tree branch with wooden portraits of family members (family tree). It was so cool!! The food was so good!! We had the chicken wings, greens, mac and cheese, yams, and catfish. The portion sizes were huge, so we had food to go. A person in our party had the red beans and rice and fried corn and she said the red beans and rice was some of the best she has ever had, and the sauce on the fried corn was good. The cook's husband came out and talked to us at the end of our meal and gave us some background on how he was also in the military, retired and is now working at the restaurant with his wife along with his government job. Everybody was just so nice and welcoming, and it definitely was a great experience. The prices for the food was very affordable considering the portion sizes. We have to go back in January for her next graduation. We will definitely be going back to eat there. I can taste it already!!

The fried chicken and sides came out piping hot. Everything was delicious. The green beans have lots of flavor, seasoning, and bacon. The collard greens are a close second, sprinkled with bacon and a decent amount of heat. It has just a smidge of sugar, but I prefer none. And the fried chicken is incredible. Even the white meat was moist, and the crust is perfect, crispy and seasoned. The corn bread is dense like a cake, with just the right amount of sweetness. It is sooooo addicting. Even with the large slice, I wanted more. I was seriously considering ordering some to-go, but didn't see it as a side on the menu. For one person, a 3 piece chicken meal was bit expensive at $16.20, with no drinks or dessert. But I'll go back. This is 100% Amazing, quintessential soul food. It seriously might the best soul food I've ever had. I was not expecting to find a gem like this in the middle of Springfield. Just make sure you have some time to kill before you order.

I usually don't leave reviews without eating the food, but I just couldn't get past everything that went wrong before that. 1. They were out of just about everything "which can be good sometimes." But this was in a bad way. Like they just didn't order anything. The guy who took our order was extremely nice, but he kept his cooking gloves on the whole time he took our order, and handled our money. Then another guy came out of the back in a tank top that was completely stained and looked filthy. In fact the entire place looked dingy and disgusting. The soda was completely out at the machine, and the carpet in front of the machine was so sticky it pulled off my wife's shoe!!! We asked for a refund because we just weren't feeling it, and the guy gave us a refund and was extremely apologetic... I gave them two stars because we didn't eat there otherwise they would have gotten a zero strictly for their lack of cleanliness and lack of supplies. They really need to be on the ball since another soul food place opened not far from them and is way better.
